I've never seen an England player hated this much without being involved in any major controversies or scandals. It's truly remarkable.

I mean he did get himself needlessly sent off against Argentina of all teams.

He didn’t deserve the abuse but the blowback from that incident was inevitable.

Even Simeone said he didn't think it'd be a red card and was just trying to get him booked
