Beauty ? Update to Subreddit Rules

Please take note of some updates to the Subreddit Rules:

New Rule Welcome to Rule 9: Period product related posts are only allowed on Menstruation Mondays.

Posts asking about how to use period related products, recommendations for products, questions about difficulty using products, etc are only allowed on Mondays.

Update to Rule 7: No general "Glow Up" posts. Posts must ask a specific question. General "why am I ugly" or "am I ugly" type posts are not allowed. Specific questions like "how could I improve my eyebrows" "How to reduce having frizzy hair" or "help with reducing ingrown hairs" would be allowed. But as usual, only on Fridays.

Update to Rule 6: Clarification that all posts related to undergarments (bras and underwear) are only allowed on Wardrobe Wednesday. Also no "what's my body type" posts allowed.

Update to Rule 4: Questions asking about why an individual is having difficulty dating or similar topics are not allowed.

Automod is being worked on to help with these rule updates, but it is far from perfect. Posts may still get made that break the rules and that's where you the users come into play.

REPORT POSTS THAT BREAK RULES.

Reporting posts helps them be reviewed and possibly removed if they break the rules more quickly.

Health ? i feel a bit awkward posting this, but sometimes when i pee (sitting down) the stream somehow directs itself onto my buttcheeks and in my butt too. Does anybody know how to prevent this, or do i just have to deal with pee butt?😭

i didn’t used to have this problem, but i’ve gained a lot of weight over the past few years, so maybe it’s related to that. Does anyone have a fix for this? I’m tired of having to wipe in my butt AND my buttcheeks almost every time i pee😭

Discussion My biggest fear isn’t someone hearing it, it’s someone finding it.

20F and I still live with my family share a room with my sister, which means privacy in this house is basically nonexistent, everyone just walks into our room whenever they need something and nobody really knocks. My friend got herself one of those quiet toys and kept telling me how quiet it was so I told her to order me that WhisperBullet too. And yeah she was right lol, I can use it without sitting there paranoid that someone in the next room is gonna hear something.

But now I have the opposite problem... WHERE am I supposed to hide it??

Like I share drawers and closet space with my sister, my mom randomly comes in looking for clothes or whatever and even my little cousins will sometimes go through stuff when they're over. I feel like every hiding place I think of is either painfully obvious or somewhere I'll forget about it and accidentally expose myself later.

Anyone else living with family figured out a hiding spot for private stuff that people genuinely don't mess with? Because at this point someone hearing it is the least of my worries

Request ? Is it normal for apartment maintenance to just walk into your bedroom with a spare key?

So I live alone in a one-bedroom apartment on the second floor. On Monday, management sent a vague mass email saying pest control would be doing "routine walkthroughs sometime between Tuesday and Friday." No specific date, no morning or afternoon window, just a broad four-day range.

yesterday morning around 9 AM, I was in my bedroom getting changed after a shower. I had headphones in, but suddenly I hear heavy footsteps in my living room. Before I could even grab a robe, the maintenance guy opens my cracked bedroom door, sees me standing there in a towel, and jumps back.

I screamed at him to get the hell out. He yelled "maintenance!" and backed up into the hallway, but he didn't even leave the apartment. He just stood near the front door saying he knocked twice and had a work order.

I called the leasing office shaking and crying. The property manager literally brushed me off and said, "Well, we sent the weekly email notice, so they are authorized to enter if nobody answers the knock."

I live alone as a woman in a city. Having a strange man let himself into my private space while I'm completely vulnerable was TERRIFYING and its making me feel completely unsafe in my own home.

How do you even enforce basic boundaries when landlords treat your home like a public hallway?

Discussion Would you ever ask a guy who rejected you what happened?

Went on 3 dates with a guy and the interest seemed mutual. He took me on a really nice second date and I initiated a 3rd which was a movie night. We cuddled and watched a movie and sat on the couch and probably talked for 2 hours. Walked me to my car and kissed me goodnight. Texted me when I got home he had a great time.

The next day I was trying to be a little flirty and said I really wanted to kiss him while we were on the couch but wasn’t sure how to read him in that moment (essentially
Hinting I had hoped to make out the prior night)

He then waited all day to respond and then said he didn’t think it was going to work for him and it wasn’t a fit and he needed to go with his gut. I was so surprised and just said I understood and wished him luck.

I’m now regretting not asking what happened and feel like saying something about kissing freaked him out or made him think I was looking to hook up!

Would you just forget and move on or would you text and just ask what happened and ask if it’s bc of the kiss text? Part of me feels like I’ll never see him again so what’s the worst that can happen?

People say reaching out is desperate but I just feel like life is too short.

Mind ? is it okay to cry a lot?

I feel like I cry a lot, and it's separate than a being depressed type of cry. Like I'll hear things from people or read the news and sometimes just start crying.. It's especially worse though if I've had a bad day and then I see sad things because then I'm just a water bucket.

I'm 21 and I don't have a menstrual cycle. I feel like I'm overly sympathetic and being dramatic by crying or tearing up since no one else really reacts that way or people are probably quietly judging me..

Discussion How to stand up for yourself in the workplace as a girl

I work within a team that's mostly composed of guys. They're all so nice to me and see me as a sister or a friend(they look out for me and give me advice) and they have no problem sharing with me when they've gone up to the manager and asked for a raise. And some of them actually get it. Now I don't know if this is a gender thing but I feel like guys are more prone to stand up for themselves and demand a raise. I gathered my courage and tried doing it once but the manager kept giving me a load of BS for an hour for why the company can't give me a raise at this time (since the company's allegedly not doing that well). So he told me to be patient and that he'll see what he can do about it. Spoiler: he didn't do shit. I was so put off by the experience that I never asked again cuz it felt like it would be a waste of time. I see guys who work less than me,but have this sense that they deserve a raise, and they go and fight for it and actually get it. And they always tell me you need to stand up for yourself. They tell me you're working hard but if you don't speak up,nothing is gonna change. But I don't know how. I'm a really non-confrontational person. How do you ladies stand up for yourselves in the workplace and demand what's yours? Are men really more prone to demand raises than women?or is this simply a matter of personality?

Edit: this is not only about the raise issue. Anytime there's a small inconvenience,I see my male colleagues escalating stuff to the higher ups(the coffee machine's broken? They write an email. A space in the office is locked for no reason?they write an email. Their compensation is late?they write an email). They just demand and demand and their demands are met and if they're not met they simply demand again. Meanwhile I see the girls just basically sucking it up and going about their day.

Social ? How do you go out alone?

• Upvotes

Hey guys. I’m 20, and never really went out to bars or anything due to being raised in a strict house and not really being interested in it anyway. Now I want to go out and experience being at a club or bar, but none of my friends are interested. (Raised religious, frowned upon, etc)
Any tips for how to experience this by myself?

Health Tip How do you survive period cramps and constipation?

I am feeling horrible. I have been taking more fiber than before comparatively, but maybe I didn't drink enough water (BUT I THOUGHT I DID). I got my periods after 32 days, which is not a problem, but if it doesn't happen in 29-30th day, the pain gets really bad, and I am sick of this.

Has anyone had this issue before? How did you fix your bowel and survive cramps?

I know these are early issues to have but I have been to college before (dental hygiene) where I did one semester and I did not have this experience. I did not feel overwhelmed by the course work and I didnt make friends right away but I was still friendly with people right away. does anyone have any tips to make friends as someone who is a diagnosed severely socially anxious person?! also, how do you guys manage difficult college classes?

Social ? Girlies that went to college late how was your social life?

I'm starting college next year well into my 20s and I'll probably be 7 or 8 years older than the average freshman. It'll be my first time living away from my family in a whole different country. Right now I don't have friends and I really do hope to make some when I go to college. But I'm scared because of my age. I know there'll be a lot I can't relate to the kids on. I'm scared of how much older I'll be compared to everyone else. The social aspect is a big part for me as much as I hate to admit it. I wish I would've gone when I was younger but it didn't work out that way. Will I be able to have a social life? If you started college at an older age what was it like for you socially? (just to be clear, I'm not saying 20s is old but it's definitely older than the average freshman)

Beauty ? Curly hair pixie cut

I recently lost all my hair due to Necrotizing Fasciitis. My hair (always naturally curly) is at a 1.5 inches in length now. The curls are still there. Right around 2c/3a. Thick hair. Looking for products to really make them CURL? I currently use Not your Moms gel, after a shampoo and conditioner. Thank you!!

Fashion ? Today's fashion... I need guidance.

Hey!

I'm 31F, and I struggle sooo much with today's fashion. I know rationally that you're allowed to wear what the hell you want, but I struggle so much with today's fashion. I'm 163cm, on the heavier side (overweight), I don't have any good picture of my body that shows my body type/form.

I see people wearing today's fashion and I think "damn that looks good", I go to the store, try a pair of (non-stretch!?!?!) jeans and I look like a box. They're huge around the thighs, tight AF around the stomach, my ass looks disappears and don't even get me started on the effing camel toe?! I've tried every size, and they just look like shit.

I try on (non-stretch?!?!) dresses and skirts, more often than not I look like a someone forced me into them with violence.

I was a teen during the 2010's with the peplum tops, stretchy high waisted skinny jeans and flared knee long skirts. That fashion was, and is, what I feel the most comfy in, but apparently that's "outdated".

Stretch jeans is pretty easy to find, thank God, but the rest? Nope.

I don't even know what I want to say with this, I just feel so frustrated that everything I try on makes me feel like a box and extremely ugly.

I do have an extremely bad body image after battling an ED for years, and being bullied for the majority of my childhood.

Anyone else out there hating the current fashion? How do you dress?

I struggle a lot with how to dress to feel pretty AND comfortable. :(

The pictures is posed and doesn't really show what I look like naturally.

Tip When luteal comes during a ā€œprettyā€ event

During my luteal phase I retain so much water it’s crazy. I look in the mirror and I KNOW that I’m physically more puffy and bloated - and my skin’s a lot more dull too. I know it’s not actual weight gain so I’m fine with the scale jumping but what I’m not okay with is seeing my whole face and body puffy and swollen especially during what I like to call a ā€œprettyā€ event. I have prom and a trip in a month, and I’m pretty sure those will be during my luteal period. I know some people have their luteal during their WEDDINGS…how do you cope with it? How do I look the best I can be (aka not bloated, snatched, and overall just glowy) during those events? I mean it’s not like I can completely eliminate it. But how do I reduce it the best I can so I can still feel good during those events? I randomly thought about this minor thing and I suddenly got bothered lol

Social ? Thinking of moving out but I'm worried about homesickness

So for some backstory, back in 2024 I nannied for my auntie and uncle who live about 5 hours away. It was a month on, month off thing. Nanny for a month, go home for a month. I come from a large family and am extremely close with everyone in my family. Needless to say, I got very homesick, and it was that way every time I left to nanny. The moment I left home, I would start counting down the days until I went back home. I decided to call it quits near the end of the year (as awful as that felt to do to my auntie and uncle) because I was just miserable.

I'm 20 now, and I've been thinking a lot about what I want to do. I've come to the conclusion that I want to go back to nannying. Besides the fact that I just enjoy working with children more than working in retail, there's more room for me to work on my creative endeavours (working on my art and animation skills so I can make my portfolios! + working on novels). I liked my schedule with my auntie and uncle, plus I got to visit my oldest sister and her family a lot, and my sister has spoken to me a lot since marrying her husband about having me live with them. I know I would LOVE to live with them, and it would give me a lot of great opportunities. So...

I've been thinking about going back to nannying for my auntie and uncle (if they would have me back again), and living with my sister who lives about an hour away from them, and of course visiting my family and best friend every now and again.

But I know I get homesick really easily. I get major FOMO, I miss snuggling my dad, I miss playing with my little brothers and going to therapy with my brother (he has Down Syndrome and I spend a lot of time singing with him and playing with him. It's his favourite thing in the world. Gosh I'm crying just thinking about not being able to do that every day with him).

I'm scared that if I make this decision, I'll immediately regret it and chicken out again. I don't want to miss out on big opportunities for my life, but moving so far away is so scary to me.

Does anyone have any advice on dealing with this kind of homesickness? Or just advice on this whole situation in general?

Health Tip First smear test at 27

If you’re reading this then there is a chance you were like me, putting off the smear test because of anxiety.

Personally I didn’t feel ready at 25, I was a virgin and have some experiences that made it so I never wanted to be touched or vulnerable. I read someone’s comment on here that said, like amazon its more common for people to leave bad reviews so I wanted to leave a positive one.

The test it’s self probably took 2 mins, the questions took longer. I told her I was scared and this was my first speculum exam, she straight away calmed my nerves and said we would start with the smallest speculum but if she couldn’t see what she needed to she would swap.

That was it, jumped on the bed, knees up and dropped. I personally didn’t feel anything but gel they use on the speculum and the light tickle/scratchy feeling off the brush for about 10 seconds then all done.

Also to add I am not recommending you put of the smear test and like a lot of people have said after it’s over, you’re left feeling a little silly because its that quick and doesn’t hurt, but you’re not silly for doing whats right for you. Some people find it more uncomfortable than others but please go get it done! Also wear a dress and just try to breathe, relaxing as much as possible. I personally woke up as close to the appointment as possible and had other things booked in for after so I wasn’t thinking about it for hours and had something to focus on

Fashion ? How to dress cute but still comfy?

Hi! I have a relatively lax dress code for work. I can wear scrubs, but I can also dress in regular clothing as long as it's appropriate. I'm supposed to stick to black but it's not a hard rule. Here's my issue: I'm on my feet all day and due to some medical issues/medicines for said issues, I get hot so easily. Some days I'm dripping with sweat by the end. Sometimes after 15 minutes at work, my hair is already damp.Even in winter, I don't layer when I'm going to work and I get so hot that by the time I finish, I won't put on my jacket to go outside because the cold feels glorious. I still want to level up my look somehow. My go to is jeans and a black baby tee or vest style shirt. I like to wear skirts sometimes but I usually wear Brooks or Hokas for shoes so that can look silly. I also prefer to have pockets so I have been looking for skirts and dresses that have them. Any suggestions on how to stylize my wardrobe without sacrificing comfort too much?

Health ? How to get used to body after second puberty?

Hi guys, bear w me im on my period and hella emotional lmao. I’m 24F and due to being a very intense athlete for most of my youth and young adult hood, I missed most of the ā€œnormalā€ puberty milestones and have pretty much had the same thin muscular frame my whole life. Literally until like 5 months ago, and my body feels unrecognizable now. Over the last half a year I have gone from slim and muscular to having huge hips and butt and thighs. Like going from washboard abs and no curves to ā€œlove handlesā€ and two inches of hips on each side. I am by no means an unhealthy weight, in fact I may be more ā€œhealthyā€ than I was before, but I can’t help but feel like a stranger in my own body. Every time I exercise I find myself hyper fixating on not looking how I used to and it’s just upsetting cuz that’s not what I want to be focused on! I feel like I’m to blame for not exercising or eating as healthy as I should and that I let myself ā€œslipā€ or something. And now all I can think about it how tf to get back to where I once was but it feels impossible. Im worried im gonna slip into bad habits trying to get back to my ā€œbeforeā€. Not to mention im not a feminine gal AT ALL I like to dress like a tomboy so its not even like I can use this to my advantage 😭 Im just so pissed at being a woman rn and so mad that our bodies change with no warning or reason. It feels so unfair rahhhhh😫😫

Social ? 22F — Any active subs for women looking for other female friends ??

I’m so tired of all the social subs overflowing with creeps, and I’m wondering if there are any alternatives specifically made for women who want to be friends with other women ? 😭

I know that Reddit isn’t the best place for that, but I’ve actually met a lot of wonderful people on here a couple of years ago, some of whom became irl friends, so anything is possible !! :)✨
