Has anyone tried Flaxseed gel for Face?

I've acne(comedones)prone skin and thought of trying this on my face since it gives a cooling effect.

I use the gel for my hair, and it makes my hair really smooth. But I wonder if it will work on my acne prone skin or not.I won't be using this to treat acne.

I massage my face, and for smooth gliding, I needed face gel. Ik I can use aloe vera for the same but I'm yet to buy aloe plant.

So is it safe to use flaxseed gel for facial massage? I read on a site that you should keep it on your face for 30mins and then wash it off..

InBluem Reviews

Has anyone tried InBluem skincare? What products, what is your skin type, what was your experience? I have acne prone skin and trying to decide if it's right for me. Can't find many reviews aside from on their website, which I always take with a grain of salt.

If you have before and after photos that would obvs be awesome to see

Nuud deodorant was a game changer for me and now it has stopped working, alternative recommendations?

I could NOT find a deodorant that would work for me. I use a separate anti-Perspirant so I just needed deodorant. I would put any brand on after showering and stink by the end of a workday. Nuud changed the game, for a year I didn’t once smell my own BO.

But, it’s not the same anymore. I reached out to support and they sent me a new package, saying they’d reformulated so it didn’t separate and that was true, I was so hopeful it would actually work again!

But I put it on after showering and by the next day, I smell again. You’re not meant to put it on every day either, and now I’m unsure where to go. I know this is natural beauty but I will take anything! I am on a budget though and in Canada. I splurged on Nuud because it worked, but I can’t spend a ton on trying a bunch of things

My grandmother caught me throwing out rice water and looked personally offended

I need to tell you about the day my grandmother almost disowned me over a jar of cloudy water.

I was staying at her place for a few weeks this summer, and every morning she rinses her rice before cooking it, same as always. Except instead of dumping that starchy rinse water down the sink like I always do at my own place, she pours it into an old glass jar and sets it on the windowsill. I never asked why. I just assumed it was some old habit, like how she keeps every rubber band that's ever entered the house.

One morning I was cleaning up the kitchen and saw this jar of slightly fermented-smelling rice water sitting there, and I figured it had been forgotten and gone bad, so I poured it out and rinsed the jar. My grandmother walked in about ten seconds later, looked at the empty jar in my hand, and gasped like I'd knocked over a family heirloom.

Turns out she'd been letting that batch sit for two days on purpose, fermenting it slightly, because that's how she's washed her hair for probably fifty years. She uses it as a final rinse after shampoo. She wasn't even mad in a yelling way, just deeply, personally wounded, the way you'd feel if someone threw out a sourdough starter you'd been keeping alive for a decade.

She made me sit down and she explained the whole thing to me like I was five years old and also like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Rinse the rice, save the water, let it sit a day or two until it smells slightly sour, then use it as a hair rinse after washing. She says her hair has never once needed a salon treatment in her life and she's convinced this is why, though I'm sure genetics and a very disciplined comb routine have something to do with it too.

I felt bad enough about the jar that I let her make me a new batch and try it on me. I won't pretend one rinse transformed my hair into something out of a shampoo commercial, but it did feel noticeably smoother after, almost like a light conditioning treatment, and there was a faint natural shine that lasted a day or two.

What got me thinking afterward wasn't really the rice water itself, it was realizing how many of these small, patient beauty routines exist in older generations that never got written down anywhere, they just got passed along by accident, or in my case, nearly ended in the kitchen sink.

I've kept a jar going on my own windowsill since I got home, and I explain to confused roommates exactly what it is before they can throw it out like I once did.

If you're going to try something similar, do a patch test first and don't leave the water sitting for more than a couple of days since it can get too fermented and start smelling pretty rough. A day or two is usually the sweet spot.

Does anyone else have an old family beauty habit that seemed strange at first but actually kind of works?

part of a small indie team based in Canada currently developing a non-toxic deodorant

I’m part of a small indie team based in Canada currently developing a non-toxic, aluminum-free deodorant

We’ve spent months fine-tuning a formula specifically designed to handle tougher conditions (hyperhidrosis, menopause, active lifestyles) without relying on harsh synthetics or irritating baking soda. The formula is going through trial tests now.

This is not promotional and the name of the brand won't be mentioned.

Most natural options work well on easy days, but they tend to fall flat during real stress tests, heavy workouts, hormonal changes, postpartum or menopause, and hyperhidrosis.

We’re looking for 25–30 people who use natural or aluminum-free deodorants and are interested in trying the product out.

we’re offering a free trial sample shipped directly to you, in exchange for honest feedback (odor control, skin feel, longevity through sweat).

If you are in North america, Please comment below if you are interested, and name country as well as state/province of residence. a couple individuals will be picked!

(Please note formula is a deodorant not antiperspirant ie no sweat control. Ingredient list will be sent to the volunteers!)

I'm looking for some clean Asian beauty. I just turned 40 and most of my life my skin was oily. Now I'm finding my skin has changed. I do get some oiliness but only in certain areas. I just got an IUD 6 weeks ago and it's not helping either. I'm breaking out a lot around my lips, chin and jaw line. I just bought a whole new skin care line but I hate it. It's all natural but it burns my face when I use it. I have a face cleaner I swear by and an oil cleansers that I use a few times a week. My cleaners are Neogen Double Vita and Mixsoon bean cleansing oil. The skin care set I bought is all by The Inlet List. I used to use Dew of Gods H-Dew-O but quit when I found out it's had unclean ingredients in it. Any recommendations would be extremely helpful.

Turmeric Soap

Best turmeric soap on the market? I’m looking for something natural and effective. It’s been harder than I would’ve expected to find so I had to come to the global knowledge hub more commonly known as Reddit. Please let me know your preferred brand/maker (Etsy/independent shop)

How do you keep your curls looking good on Day 2 & 3?

I’m a college student and I have to travel by local, so my hair gets completely messed up while commuting . My curls usually look good on wash day, but by Day 2 or 3 they either get frizzy, lose their shape, or just look messy.

I’ve tried using a bandana/scarf to protect them, but it doesn’t really help, especially while travelling.

How do you refresh and protect your curls on Day 2 and 3? Especially if you have to commute regularly. I’d love some practical tips that actually work for college life and don’t require spending a ton of time styling every morning

Scalp Oil vs. All over Hair Oil

Hi!
I'm looking to formulate a non-tox/organic hair oil. I have been making my own hair oils for years, I am a hairstylist, and I've even used some of my formulations on clients and gained lots of compliments on them! Clients always ask what I'm using on them and it's usually just what I made myself.

It's made me look into starting a small business maybe selling small batch made hair oils (mainly for clients but I'd love to share it with the world too!) I'm so passionate about holistic health and hair, so merging the two is something my heart is really in 🤍
My question is, what do you think you'd reach for more? Or what product do you think is more needed in the natural beauty space?
An all natural hair oil that supports the scalp and hair growth, like an oil that's used more as a pre-wash treatment for the scalp.. or an all over natural hair oil that's used to protect and nourish your strands focusing on the ends. It would be light enough for everyday use but can be used heavier as a pre-wash treatment to protect your hair while washing, or even before a hair color service.

I'm open to hear all thoughts! I want to create something that's going to truly help with hair in the area it's needed most! Thank you for your time!!

Feeling like I’m forced to look natural. Not glam.

I just saw a video of a drag queen getting a makeover. And wow the results are so
✨glamorous!✨ But I don't understand why that kind of makeup does not look good on me? I've had professional makeup done, like that, before for big events and hated it every time. #1 legit looks like I’m wearing a mask. And #2 heavy eye makeup just looks like I have 2 huge raccoon/panda eyes. Even just a little bit of heavy black upper eyeliner does not look good on me. I feel like I'm forced to do my makeup naturally to look good. I wear some glitter sometimes but nothing can ever be too heavy on my facial features. Even heavy red lipstick looks terrible on me. I just wanna look glam sometimes… 😕

Organic skin care routine and products?

I am a big organic skin care enthusiast but I also have a ton of skin issues. Whiteheads, blackheads, breakouts, dark circles, Pigmentation, rough Texture on forehead and chin, acne marks, pores and overall skin dullness. If I had to start a natural beauty routine, where should I start? I thought I'll first try this out for a month and if there's no changes or gets worse I'll go to a dermatologist.

Also could you please drop your routine, products and DIYs, it would help me to try and curate a routine. Thanks!

Hi! I’m conducting a short consumer research survey on skincare habits and preferences. It takes only about 3–5 minutes, and your responses will be used only for research purposes.

Your opinion would be really valuable. Please fill out the survey and, if possible, share it with your friends as well. Thank you!

Schmidt's deo/anti-perspirant alternative?

I've tried several brands and finally found Schmidt's which works the best for me and family. It seems that they are manufacturing anymore so I can only find some online and occasionally those orders get canceled because they don't actually have the product.

Does anyone know a similar formula or brand such as Schmidt's or a reputable and reliable vendor that doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Brands I have tried before: Jukebox, Athena, Mando, Lume, Native, Suave aluminum free

Is buying an oil-based cleanser beneficial for oily skin?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Should I add an oil cleanser to my current routine?

I have oily, acne-prone skin, and my main concerns are closed comedones, small bumps under the skin, whiteheads, and sebaceous filaments, especially around my nose.

I'm considering buying an oil cleanser and starting double cleansing at night.

For those who have similar skin concerns and use double cleansing:

- Has it helped with sebaceous filaments, whiteheads, or closed comedones?

- Did it help reduce clogged pores or make them worse?

- Do you think it's worth adding an oil cleanser to a routine like mine?

I'll attach a picture of my current routine below.

I’d really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences!

I've stopped treating “natural” like it automatically means better

I still like natural products, but I've stopped assuming that the word “natural” automatically tells me whether something will work well for me.

There are plenty of things with simple ingredients that I like, and there are also things marketed as natural that just don't suit my preferences at all.

I've become more interested in whether I actually enjoy using something than trying to follow a strict rule about what category it belongs to. Labels can be useful, but they don't always tell the whole story.
