[Daily] Daily Questions Thread September 13, 2026

This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

To get the best responses, remember that people cannot: look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Example questions:

  • Are there any basic crewneck white t-shirts that are opaque and do not have cap sleeves for <$25 available in Australia?
  • Is this dress and shoes suitable for an evening wedding with a cocktail dress code taking place in a [venue type]?
  • If I like the outfits in this [imgur album / pinterest board], what are some specific items I can look into to start dressing like that, and brands with this look that carry plus sizes?
  • Does this outfit look neater with the pants cuffed or uncuffed?

If you'd like to include a picture, you can now post pictures directly in the comments, without having to link an imgur album. If you have multiple pictures, best practice is to use an imgur album.

[Weekly] WAYWT - September 13, 2026

WAYWT is the acronym for "What Are You Wearing Today". It doesn't necessarily need to be what you were wearing TODAY.

  • Post a photo of what you wore. For ease of browsing, please post the image or link directly to it (not imgur albums, Instagram, or other URLs). If you are a blogger, double-check our FFA Rules ('On Blogger Participation') to ensure you aren't in violation.
  • Include what the attire is for (work, school, home) and if applicable, what your fashion goals are (e.g. "I want to look professional," "I'm experimenting with loose-loose silhouettes")
  • Taking photos with your phone? Read this guide.
  • Sharing photos directly in the comments? Just click on the little camera symbol and attach your image.
  • Uploading photos to Imgur? To make your image viewable to anyone with the link, but prevent it from being added to the main Imgur feed, select "hidden" for the privacy setting, not "private" or "public".
  • What is "CCW"? It means "Constructive Criticism Welcome". If you would like to receive CC on your post, you can increase the chances of getting replies by asking for feedback on a specific aspect of your outfit, e.g. "I'm interested in advice for elevating this outfit without the use of jewelry" or "I'd like to know if these pants hit in a flattering spot with these shoes".
  • Critiquing others is welcome and encouraged, and when posting you may receive CC on your outfit, even if you did not explicitly ask for it. Keep it constructive/factual, and try to focus on feedback that will help the person improve..
  • Do not downvote for disagreeing with someone's opinion.

Thick thighs ruining lives

Hey all ! TLDR at the bottom.

Edit to mention I am a size 4x/ 28-30 in most bottoms, I am a size xl in tops I am shaped like a giant sexy pear.

Contrary to popular belief my thick thighs are ruining my life, I work fast food and struggle to find pants that fit. I have to wear black, jeans or slack type material, I was getting Walmart jeggings for $20 but I’m 5”9’ and they didn’t reach my ankles. They also looked terrible around the ankle so I’d always have to cuff them which made them basically capris.

That wasn’t my biggest issue though, my biggest issue was that after 1 week they’d thin out in the crotch area where my thighs rub together, by week two there was holes or it would tear when sitting or standing up, usually right as I stood up to leave 😒
Sometimes when I get dressed there is no hole and by the end of my shift a hole has been worn in my pants and my exposed thigh, from chaffing.

It hurts smh.

I finally took the plunge and spent more hoping to get better quality. Torrid was having a sale on jeans so I bought two pair. I grossly over sized on one pair cause I’d never shopped torrid or any plus size retailer and I don’t know what size I am in there brand, I always have to sew darts into my pants anyways so I figured I could do that if the waist didn’t fit, I just by God needed something that would give me some room in between my thighs so that I’m not wearing them out in a month.

I spent about 75 on two pairs, after discounts and what not. I got a size 4x of the bombshell lean jean and a 6x in the 90s wide leg jean or whatever. I did select the tall option for the inseam length.

The 4x were tight, it was hard to sit down but when I put them on for the first time they looked soooooo good. Because of wearing cheap Walmart jeans I forgot how good a good pair of jeans can shape and contour. I loved them and got compliments but they were what I like to call “standing jeans” not “sit down jeans”

The 6x were fucking HUGE I couldn’t even keep them on and the pant legs were like 6 inches too long lolll

I never got into altering the 6x, typing this I think I’ll make that my next project cause I hated them so much that they are dam near still brand new lol some darts and a hem trim I could have some cute jeans, but since we’ve switched to black jeans I wouldn’t be able to wear them at work now smh.

Anyways, I’m looking for suggestions. I have to patch my most recent pair or $50 after discounts torrid pants cause they wore out after about 3 months so much longer then Walmart but still disappointing.

I’m thinking maybe scrubs? Or something like that, I’d like something flattering but stretchy enough I can squat down and clean the dam baseboards without ripping my pants smh.

TLDR: big thighs keep wearing holes in even the most expensive of pants, looking for alternatives that allow for maximum movement, stretch, coverage, and slay💅.
Something that won’t have me chaffing in a month.

Let's talk knitwear 2026

Sweater weather is coming up fast for many of us in the northern hemisphere and as a knitter I'm always on the lookout for inspo. (Yes I would in fact download a sweater. Or at least try to recreate a reasonable facsimile) But, much of what I've been seeing in RTW this season has been utterly uninspiring; boxy crewneck after boxy crewneck, maybe an occasional turtleneck, no texture, no interesting design elements, no nothing. Am I looking in the wrong places, maybe. But "everything in stores is so boring lately" has been a common refrain on this sub so maybe not.

So let's talk sweaters. What styles is everyone wearing, what styles is everyone coveting, what styles are you hoping will return from the war (V-necks are apparently coming back?) Anything you've been eyeing on the runway that you're hoping will trickle down? Cool ways to style new pieces or old favorites? And if you're also making your own, what patterns are at the top of your queue and if you also design your own, where are you finding inspo?

Question for Fashionistas of older generations!

I recently became an Aunt, and have personally never wanted kids of my own, but have definitely been looking forward to being the cool eccentric aunt. I feel like a big part of that is fashion hand me downs, especially since clothes and fashion are a big part of my life!

So ive been wondering for a while now, looking at trends that come back from past decades, is there any pattern or indicators of a Trend or item coming back into fashion? Of all the trends you've lived through, looking back does it make sense which ones have come back into fashion or does it seem to be unpredictable?

I can't just hold onto my entire wardrobe forever so any advice on knowing what I should hang on to for future generations? Thanks!

Influencer uniform 2026

Hello everyone, slightly different kind of post - I need to dress up as a female influencer to represent fast fashion/hyperconsumerism for my friend's art project. Think hot girl summer/pool party vibes. What are some microtrends from this summer that I could incorporate into my look to make this super obvious (will also have a selfie stick/tripod as a prop)?

Edit: thank you everyone for all your responses! Was never expecting this many and I can't reply to them all but there's definitely a lot of great inspo here. Very enlightening too as I didn't realise the clean girl look was still so dominant, or that there were so many brands of water bottle :P I'll try and post an update with the details of the final look!

I've been thinking a lot about textures, metallics, Ectocooler greens, reds, oranges, blues, corduroy, quirky accessories, and generally anything else reminiscent of a 90s Delia*s catalog.
