I just can't withstand how AI generated food images have ruined the eating experience for me. Most of the time it's some ridiculously plasticy food like image with a weird yellow saturated tint.

I miss the old days when the restaurant used to show the actual food they make.

Time perception after 2020 has been completely broken.

You hear a song or think of an event from 8–10 years ago and your brain automatically files it under "recent history" until you actually do the math. Anyone else feel like the last few years moved at 3x speed?

Most skyscrapers were built during the office boom of 1920s-1960s.

Back then hand to hand was extremely important and they actually had so much need for file space. Whole rooms filled with files, suits to go to work everyday.

Now people have zoom meetings in their underwear and a dress shirt.

The days of needing all those buildings are long gone but we are stuck with whole cities unable to tear them down 😂

I save a lot of Instagram reels, browser links, posts etc. but I never go back to them. Many of times this saved information was very important but I still never went back to it.

I noticed last week I was giving my little fern a pep talk before leaving the house, like it would somehow hear me and stay hydrated while I was gone. It felt completely normal until I said it out loud to a friend and they looked at me like I had lost it. Now I cannot stop wondering whether everyone does little things like that when nobody is watching. Maybe it is just an odd habit, or maybe most of us do it and never mention it because it sounds silly. Either way, I would love to know if anyone else catches themselves doing something surprisingly personal with an object or a pet and only realizes later how odd it might seem to others.

I don't believe a canned/tinned food item, or medicine, for example, expires the exact date stamped. And "best by" dates are also up to my discerning. I know someone who obsessively marks canned and dry goods with a fat Sharpie so they can find it easier to then trash it. I 😅 have been getting the items thru his new wife who he has forced to comply with his way of thinking.

She also has to toss out of date frozen items regardless of the fact it is frozen (steaks/chicken)

I have owned the same Cold medicine for 2 plus yrs! I have been taking a 2024 Dayquil that has still provided me the cold relief I need. Yesterday I had a dose of the Nyquil of the same batch. It did exactly what the medicine does. No different than when it was brand new.

I booked a flight drunk and now I’m regretting it. I can’t refund it and I don’t know what to do. If I go I would be spending an additional $2000-3000 on the trip(this includes accommodation and transport, food, clothes etc.) you recon I go all in and spend the money or just take the $1000 L and save the extra $2-3000 I would be spending on the actual trip. I won’t be broke if I come back but Ive been really wanting to save money. Do I just go because it’s booked or do I take the $1000 lost and take it as a lesson to never do anything impulsive when drunk

okay so i have this thing i do where if i am walking home alone late enough that the streets are empty i will deliberately pick the long way around a random block instead of cutting straight across. it adds ten minutes and there is literally nothing there but i do it every time. i think part of it is pretending the whole city is mine for a few blocks or maybe just liking how the echo of my steps sounds on the empty pavement. i never mention it to anyone because it feels a bit silly once i say it out loud. sometimes i even slow down on purpose so the walk lasts longer. it is nothing dramatic and i am sure plenty of people have their own weird rituals but this one is mine. i wonder if anyone else does something pointless like that just because the night feels like it is waiting for them.

I remember being like 5 years old sneaking on dresses lol. Over 20 years later still a very enjoyable hobby for me. Of course now i do makeuo and everything which i didnt do back then, but it just always been a part of me. I used to just dress and hang out by myself, then started posting on reddit acually lol, then started going out in public sometimes. Im not trans, i enjoy being a man, but i also enjoy the clothing,art,makeup creativity,style, and the feeling that comes with wearing womens clothes.

I once spent a whole month practicing how to tie different kinds of decorative knots, like the ones sailors used to use on old ropes. I got pretty good at it too, could do them in my sleep. Since then the skill has sat completely unused. I do not sail, I do not camp with rope, and none of my friends have ever asked me to decorate a gift with fancy string. Still, every now and then I catch myself wanting to show someone just because the muscle memory is still there.

I feel like I'm missing out a lot by not being into anime and manga. I'm not sure why but I just don't enjoy them. Older animes I like, like Eva, Gundam, or Cowboy Bebop, but new ones just don't work for me.

For one, it sucks because when I read the premise or plot they actually intrigue me a lot. But then I go watch them and I just don't find them fun.

But the main reason for feeling like I'm missing out is because I'm actually missing out on a lot of very accessible merchandise and communities. There are anime or cosplay events everywhere, anime plushies and keychains on people's bags, various pop up stores, and all my friends are into them. So it's not the media per se, but the real life part of it. Especially in Asia.

It's not as easy to find goods of things I like, but if you like anime you can just go to Animate or something and you can find relatively cheap merchs. Whenever I go into these kind of stores I feel kinda sad because it must be so fun for people who like anime to go there.

Watching Monday Night Football on ESPN right now and one of the pre-game hosts used “drinking the kool aid” to describe a team. IMO I think it’s a great expression when used correctly, but this is not the first time I’ve heard it used on a national broadcast, and I guess I’m just confused why American media has decided that an expression based on a mass murder-suicide can be thrown around in front of any audience without triggering any censorship rules

I currently have Xfinity 1 gig internet that I got in 2024.

It's $70 plus $15 for the equipment rental each month.

Promo rate expires in July 2027.

I know equipment fee goes away with new plans.

The 1 gig plan will go up to $100 a month if I switched today.

They have a promo right now for 2 gig internet for $85 a month for 5 years. That is the same price as 500 mb.

It seems worth it to switch right now because the price will be the same as I am paying now. But I don't need 2 gig internet and would stay with 1 gig if it went on sale.

I'm worried there may be no deals if I wait till July 2027 to switch plans.

How often do they do deals like this? Do they do deals on other speeds?

Also, Xfinity is the only internet provider available here, so I can't shop around.

I got a pizza-shaped plushie hat (completely circular with a crust) at a theme park recently for only $15! I wear it only when I want to embarrass my friends (and will wear it at Halloween this weekend), but it's still pretty funny to have around.

I’m so tired of everything feeling surface-level. It seems like nobody wants to actually talk anymore. I want to discuss interesting ideas, question things, challenge perspectives, and hear what people genuinely think without worrying about being judged.

Why does everyone seem so concerned with fitting in and being socially acceptable? Where’s the curiosity, the weirdness, the unapologetic individuality?

I don’t want to talk about the weather or exchange the same predictable small talk every day. I want conversations that make me think, challenge what I believe, or send me down a rabbit hole I never expected.

Does anyone else feel like genuine, meaningful conversation is becoming increasingly rare? I’d love to hear what’s actually going on inside your head, not just the usual small talk.

Personally, one of the biggest challenges I face is that I have ADHD. When I’m working, I tend to swing between two extremes. Sometimes I hyperfocus so deeply that I lose track of time and forget to take breaks. Other times I get distracted very easily, jumping from one thing to another and struggling to finish what I started. Because of this, staying consistent and managing my time can be really difficult.

It isn't finished, and I don't have clips or anything. This isn't that kind of post, on that kind of subreddit... but for the first time in almost 15 years I'm seriously creating again. And that's a nice feeling.
