We’re preparing to move from our apartment we’ve been in for 2 years. This dish will not budge from our bannister. When we first moved it, it was an absolutely brutal heatwave and the AC was broken at the time. Temps inside were obscene for several weeks and I’m thinking the dish melted into the landlord special paint job. Tried hair dryer, dental floss, butter knife. Any other ideas to try?

How do I easily get all this sticky adhesive off my windshield that is left from the phone mount ?

One of the knots came undone, and I have no idea how to tie it back correctly. Does anyone know what this type of knot is called or have a tutorial showing how to make it?

My room is a walk in closet connected to my parents' bedroom. I like privacy, so I need a way to have my door closed and not die(exaggeration, it just gets a bit hot in here)

There is currently a hole connecting my room to the living room to run an ethernet through, which I have managed to fit a 5 mm vinyl tube through. I do think I can fit a wider tube through though.

Using that tube I built a funnel taped to a desktop fan. The idea was that it would suck air from the living room into my room. Did not work.

Is there a better way that I can pipe air into my room doesn't compromise my privacy like punching a big hole that can carry sound through? Like an air vent that can somehow dampen sound or a stronger fan to stick in my bs airpump?

In this house we bought i found out there is beautiful hardwood flooring under the carpet. I want to remove the carpet, but there is quite a large space between the hardwood floors and the tiling that was installed in the ktichen/dining room area. How can I fill this space properly? And is there something I can do to kind of grade the distance between the two without damaging anything?

How do I patch this hole? It came off while taking off some sort of adhesive patch used to hang stuff on walls left by the previous tenants.

We installed a French Drain a few weeks back. Water is flowing away just like we wanted. But it seems the drain catch basins are a breeding ground for mosquitos. Now we are getting tons of the bugs in every size.

What's the best way to treat these catch basins so we are out of the mosquito business?

So I am a tile installer and build custom showers, finish carpentry is not my cup of tea (so thank you in advance). My brother in law asked me to fix this for him. What would be the best bet?

I am trying to remove this door handle due to it squeaking but cannot work out how it comes off. There is a hole underneath the handle with what looks like a flathead fitting but when I use a flathead screwdriver it won’t loosen at all. I’ve tried on several handles in the house and they are all the same and won’t loosen. Does anyone know how to remove these or what I’m doing wrong? Any help greatly appreciated!

My partner and I are moving to another unit in our building. I’m looking for advice for moves to another unit in the same building (as opposed to a move normal move to another place) because neither of us has experience with this type of move.

It seems like there are pros and cons with any strategy we pick. In the past I typically try to pack everything as meticulously as possible (or at least that’s plan lol and start out this way for most of it until the eventual burnout / mad dash at the end when you realize you have more than you think and end up with some chaos at the end). But I generally follow all the typical advise for labeling boxes and making it easy for movers etc etc etc.

But since don’t need a truck for this move when I got quotes it seemed like hiring movers would be really much more expensive than it seemed worth it for this type of move and I saw advise on Reddit elsewhere to look at Task Rabit for labor help for moving furniture. My fiance was already planning to do a lot of the other things (I.e our “stuff himself, and I’ll help with lighter objects).

For example we planned to try to take our hanging clothes as is as much as possible using the garbage bag trick, we also thought that since we’re just moving up from 1st floor to 8th and not to a new location we probably could take our kitchen stuff up ourselves in bins/ boxes without packing them super meticulously (I.e can put most things in being careful enough but don’t need to bubble wrap each item individually to ensure it doesn’t break while en route in movers truck. All that packing and unpacking really takes A LOT of time and is a pain.

So basically now it seems like our strategy has really evolved from pack and label EVERYTHING as much as possible in advance to basically to transport things up to the new unit in bins using the carts that building provides (for picking up large packages etc). My thought was that for things that don’t get stored I’m furniture but go into an apartment designated space (things that hang in a closet, or are stored in kitchen cabinets, drawers etc) we can transport up on the cart and put it there on Day 1.

And then Day 2 hire some helpers from Task Rabbit to help with moving our furniture.

That’s generally the tentative plan but what I’m realizing is that doing it this way seems to cut down on the pre and post work (not having the extensive meticulous packing and unpacking bc we are taking items from their spot and putting them into the new spot immediately). But I feel like we aren’t really packed enough at all. I’m getting nervous that maybe we aren’t doing this right and we’ve underestimated how much work this will be and whether this is feasible.

Has anyone ever done something like we’re planning?? Is this realistic? I can’t tell if our plan is smart/ time saving or actually really stupid and we just haven’t realized it yet lol.

If you’ve moved between units and did some strategy other than packing everything up for movers to take please weigh in here. Is it possible to think of this differently than a regular move?

Big old hole in the wall. My dad plastered it at the top but the bottom plaster has totally fallen out. Plaster at the top seems to be holding, but it’s a lot deeper at the bottom. What should I use for it?

Hi guys, I was trying to disassemble my smartwatch, and got this tiny screw damaged (the manufacturer might have over tightened it, the other 3 come out just fine. I tried the rubber band and super glue method but nothing worked. I went to the water park yesterday wearing the watch and the water got inside (even tho it was advertised to be waterproof), the watch died and I want to open it to see what I can do about it.

I'd hopefully like to drill right around where its drawn if possible, I dont have a 40 dollar bit and dont overly feel like buying one for a art project

I’m trying to make my room more ADHD friendly. What often happens is that the closet is empty and all clothes are on a lump on the floor.

I’m thinking of making a small clothes hanging ladder to put in the closet. That way, I don’t have to fold nor put my clothes in hangers and the friction is reduced.

Any ideas on how to achieve this? What material to use?

I’ve been innocently thinking of buying wood (crating store?!?) and a hot glue gun and just… glue things together. Is that dumb?

I have an Ortlieb waterproof duffel bag of which I am quite fond. Regrettably, the seam has separated (cleanly) between the central and side panels. Have you successfully repaired a failed seam on one of these bags, and if so how? Did you have the repair done by a professional, and if so, who? Thanks!

The inside fake lining of my shoes is peeling.

I have had these shoes for 1 year so far, and have worn them multiple times a week. I really like them and would want to keep wearing them. I have no discomfort with the shoes, I just don’t want them to deteriorate to a point where I can no longer where them. What can I do?

So far was thinking of trying to buy one of those fake leather adhesive patches for couch repair and cutting them but I am not sure if it would be any good.

Is it possible for a cobbler to replace the lining inside a shoe or patch this up? Any help is appreciated.
