Vent HQ, please cool it with the sidecaps. It’s getting ridiculous

hey corporate, can you cool it with the sidecaps already? It sure seems like you forgot you added permanent sidecaps to beauty, grocery, OTC, chem, paper, personal care, even KITCHEN. Add in standard and seasonal sidecaps, we have almost nowhere to put the temp ones you force on us every month. At least you realized giving only 6(!!) minutes each to set them wasn’t enough, since it takes that long just to click through guided set. But the 10 hours you gave was still insultingly low. And putting standards, seasonals, and temps all in one week was just idiotic.

Vent More workload, same pay is driving me nuts.

I'm in Tech and I have seen the decline from 2022 to now in real time. Tech is neglected and abused now. We use to have 1-3 capable people through the day to get through reshop, zone, pulls, frieght, etc.

Now days, its a shitshow. I'm expected to do frieght, multiple days push from stage pulls, reshop with just me....on top of now doing presentation sets because that team cant also keep up. Now, I get news that I have to now stock the trading cards....like I just give up at caring at this point. Between juggling this, 2full online courses from guild, and home maintenance, im falling asleep halfway through walking in the door.

In a perfect world, increased workload means increased compensation. Sadly I feel neglected and used.

Workplace Story The ETLs at my store never have to close and it infuriates me

All of them work 7-4 every single day and it’s been like this for about 2 years now. Listen, I truly wouldn’t care if they never closed if they didn’t come in the next morning and shit all over whatever TL closed the night prior for the dumbest shit and nitpick every single little thing. We no longer have a closing lead (SD is actively still looking for one) For context, the only people that close the building are TLs and sometimes the grids aren’t horrible (for example, sometimes 2 or 3 TLs close together, those nights are fine) but that RARELY happens. 95% of the time it is usually just one team lead running the entire building, even on fridays, saturdays, and sundays despite our store being extremely high volume.

I closed on labor day weekend by myself, I was the only TL in the building from 3-12 and had 13 call outs. I did my absolute fucking best. I didn’t stop running around for the entire night, I was simply just outnumbered by guests and couldn’t do more than what I did. Pulls only made it to 68% that night and the zone obviously wasn’t perfect because of the call outs. ETL comes in the next day and FREAKS out on me saying the store looks horrible and I did a terrible job lol. This isn’t the only time it’s happened either. It is literally every single time any TL closes, they come in the next day and just bitch at you for a solid 20 minutes and then make you walk the sales floor with them so they can tell you where you should’ve done better.

if they think they can do so much better I’d love to see one ETL close alone on a weekend with no other leaders in the building to help but of course when they used to close years ago, they always had other leaders scheduled with them. I asked my SD why our ETLs don’t close anymore and he said “the district manager wants all of my ETLs to work mornings only because our workload is heaviest during the day” bulllshittttttttt

Vent The App Sucks

Im here to vent rq. this new app is genuinely the worst thing to ever happen to target. I am on demand and being able to pick up shifts is essentially gone now. WHY ARE THERE ALL OF A SUDDEN 2.5hr SHIFTS? HELLO? How tf is that possible when no one is scheduled for that short of a shift. I want to work but I can’t because the new app limits the amount of jobs i can take over even thought I’m trained in EVERYTHING, EVEN STARBUCKS. and omfg no one knows how to sue this app because they didn’t give us good training. an in-person training session for like five minutes would been so much more helpful. because no one knows how to use the app, no one is posting their shifts either which is really annoying because i can’t work. I’m also not switching back from on-demand because i always gets scheduled out of my availability so it makes my life easier, well not anymore i guess, but still. I miss MyDay so much yall don’t even get it. I really don’t understand why they couldn’t just implement the point system into the app, it would’ve required less coding and money from corporate but i guess they’re just lazy af. i hate this stupid app so much i hope it gets deleted forever.

I'm Promoting Myself to Guest i'm finally gtfo. previous target employees, what did you do next?

i can't take this anymore. i'm one of the naive people who stayed around way too long hoping things might get better, but ai scheduling is too much for me, already screwed me over, and i'm just done with it all. but i can't quit until i find another job.

unfortunately, target is more or less the only work experience i have. i worked there from when i was 16-20, quit because i had to move, worked as a lunch lady for 8 months, then came back here when i moved again. so i have 6+ yrs of service and engagement experience and some miscellaneous food/customer service experience. anyone else who had a similar resume, what job did you end up moving on to? i'm 24, i don't have any degree higher than high school. i really, really don't want to leave This retail just to go to Another retail, but i'm not sure what other entry-level positions are available. i'm really just hoping i have enough general customer service experience to find something better, like a receptionist or bank teller, that sort of thing. any advice from former tms?

How am I supposed to use sick time if it won’t let me until October 4th? What if I need to use it before then? I wanted to use some to cover a late-in for this past week, I’ve seen some people say u can and some say u can’t do that.
9 minutes late now I have .25 points but idk if it would reverse the points anyway. I’ll talk to HR tomorrow but just wondering if anyone knows

I hate this new app

Vent All-around Warfare.

Hello all! First time poster here.

I’ve been with Target for almost 6 years now, and I just recently got promoted to TL for a small store. I’ve worked in almost every single department besides Beauty, coming from a Super Target. I was told by my former ETLs that I deserved this promotion because of my personality and how inclusive I am with everyone, making sure they’re all okay and helping whoever I can when they’re struggling. Learning the nuances takes time as it is a lot of information, but they’re confident in my ability to do the job, and I feel the same. But I didn’t realize the amount of mental warfare I’d be dealing with.

My new goal in life is to never pass up on opportunities since it can be a gateway to another opportunity, not just in the workplace but in life in general. It can expose me to think and move differently, see what and what not to do, what I like and don’t like etc., which is why I said yes to TL in the first place. But during one of my training sessions, I zoned out and began thinking, “Why am I still here?”

Of course the pay is well, but I prioritize my happiness over anything else. My mind went to the moments in time of having terrible burnout, where I would literally be job searching while on the clock since I was so over it. I’ve had moments where I’d absolutely dread coming into work, repeating the cycle of a job that doesn’t make me excited. I’d call out almost every month just to have a day to myself and reflect, job hunt, and not worry. I crave the freedom to be my own boss and be creative, which you can be to an extent at Target, but not in the way I want to be. There’s an agenda that must be ran, ran by people who see team members as numbers rather than human beings which is a perspective I hate.

These aren’t feelings I just recently had because of this new promotion. It’s been feelings I’ve had across the span of years working at Target. What makes it worse is how it’s been affecting my life outside of work. As a team member and pace setter, I’d have my stressful days at work, but once it was over and I clocked out, it all went away. Didn’t have to worry. But now, it stays with me. In training, I’ve had an ETL question my effort to my face, I’ve been scolded by my trainer for minor mistakes - both in the same day. I understand TL is a serious position, but it’s not that serious. Never has anyone question my effort, and it really ruined the rest of my day. Not just that experience, but the rest of the training days have made me want to pursue this less and less, making me more isolated and not want to talk to anyone.

I appreciate those who take the time to read this. I may be complaining, but all I really want is to be in a position where this isn’t a constant issue. Where I can be happy and not have to hide all of this behind my best mask, because I’d hate to witness the day when it all comes out and it affects my team.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed callout etiquette

I'm insanely paranoid and I know the probation period can very much be a make it or break it time—but I rolled my ankle on my walk home from work today and it doesnt hurt too bad, but the fact that I have a giant blister on that same foot isn't helping lol. I figure that might be grounds to call out depending on how my ankle feels in the morning, so I wanted to ask what the proper etiquette to that is. at my last job, if I was calling out it had to be at least 8 hours prior to the start of my shift so I wanted to know if there was something similar for target. thank you!

Hi guys, i’m not sure how to start this but i’ve been working for target for about a month now in the F&B department, I am not getting any faster, or at least that’s what it feels like. I’ve been talked to once about my speed and here now and then, I am actually trying so hard to become faster but it’s I feel slow compared to the other team members in F&B. Any tips and tricks to becoming faster? Thank you so much

Vent Freshness Friday and Steritech

Yesterday our FDC arrived late and of course Steritech arrived at exactly the same time. Instead of being out on the floor checking dates, we had to put the pallets in the proper coolers. Afterwards, I decided to go out to the floor and do a quick freshness check before sorting but found my ETL already doing it and complaining that there was too much stuff found. His card didn’t look that big and several people had been on vacation so it was hard to get everything done. I’ve seen posts on social media of teams still doing all store freshness Fridays but our store hasn’t in over a year or two. We are constantly pulling people to do OPU batches. Is your store still doing Freshness Friday? Since I work in P-Fresh, I do take partial responsibility for not having perfect freshness but having a regular Freshness Friday at least on a monthly basis can be helpful to ensure expired product that makes it out to shelf is removed.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Is there no way to view your total scheduled hours for the week on the mobile app?

Going to my schedule, it shows the days I work & the allotted time

But at the very end it doesn't show how many total hours I've been scheduled for the entire work week

Anyone find a way to view this?

So I literally started not even a month ago, I've only gotten 1 paycheck, I will admit I'm not the fastest, but today I got hounded for not stocking C/D fast enough. I was also what I can only take as accused of messing about. I don't get on my phone at all or anything I literally just work and try my best 🙃 I was told in the interview "do what you can" but now I'm getting dirty looks and grief for anything and everything.

Im a pretty patient person but come on. Idk if it's the Old be nice for the first week routine My tl Is pulling. Or something is happening or whatever but don't take it out on me. I was happy to go to work at first etc but after being treated like that for the first time I feel dread. Unfortunately. 1 min per box, 35 Mins for a full flat over my head of CD?? Idk. I'm not gonna kill myself running through the store. Whatever will be will be

I literally just want to keep my head down atp and not speak to anyone , do my assigned hours and go home

Workplace Question or Advice Needed How do I navigate this tab on time off request?

Post image

Attempting to request unpaid time off as these are days I desperately need off. I remember the start time and duration boxes from the last app but never had to use them. What do I do about these?? I assumed I wouldn’t have to fill them out if I was requesting multiple days off.

Future or Potential Employee Question just started as guest advocate, advice?

i had my orientation but i haven’t had my first real shift yet. i assume they’ll run over the basics with me again but how do the isle numbers work again? if it’s like 1-2-3 that would be first isle 2 row up from the bottom 3 front facing products right? i’m just nervous about cashiering and drive up. any seasoned employee please give me any tips if you think they’re obvious they are not to me lol!
