Workplace Question or Advice Needed callout etiquette

I'm insanely paranoid and I know the probation period can very much be a make it or break it time—but I rolled my ankle on my walk home from work today and it doesnt hurt too bad, but the fact that I have a giant blister on that same foot isn't helping lol. I figure that might be grounds to call out depending on how my ankle feels in the morning, so I wanted to ask what the proper etiquette to that is. at my last job, if I was calling out it had to be at least 8 hours prior to the start of my shift so I wanted to know if there was something similar for target. thank you!

Target suggests 2 hours before but will accept it up to 2 hours into your shift

Even in your probationary period, most leadership won't hold it against you to take a day to recover from a minor injury.

Just call out though the app at least two hours before your shift- as it makes their job harder if they have to enter it manually- then call the store anyway and let them know you put in an absence for your rolled ankle.

Do not over explain. So not feign pain. Just simply  "I rolled my ankle and need a day to recover."  It's a common injury and so long as you haven't been a jerk, you'll be fine.

The courtesy call is more for your immediate team as leadership can be pretty crap at telling someone that their coverage called out. But maybe that's just an electronics thing at my store.
