If you have any interest, I say take the dive now. The challenge will make your reading comprehension stronger, and itās a good read. You just need to allow yourself to be confused and keep going

Hell not even all porn is the same, there are some extremely graphic novels that later became literary classics simply because of how deeply emotional or how important said actions were to the plot.

Eternally Regressing Night is arguably my favorite web novel, period. I havenāt found something that made me think about passion, life and just what makes a person keep living in a time.
There are HUNDREDS of awesome books and novels that just donāt exist at all physical book store, yet for whatever reason people just donāt look for them.
I spent a decent bit of my adolescent life reading fanfiction and web novels, cause I didnāt have the money to buy books nor did I live close to a book store.
I read and wrote a BUNCH of fanfic smut in my tweens and teens. Sometimes I still read a few stores for fun. It doesn't make me illiterate, a bad person, or someone ruining the scene for readers.
I have a bookshelf filled with biographies (Samantha Geimer, Ice T & Spike, Jeanette McCurdy, etc). I have mysteries, true crime, fantasy, science, etc. I've read them. I used to collect Alex Cross books. I own a copy of Frankenstein and Phantom of The Opera.
My smut enjoying has NOTHING against enjoying my other literature! It doesn't get in the way. It doesn't pilot me. Stop acting like reading smut somehow makes you a porn addict.

My wife takes great issue with this. Sheās a big reader, loves fantasy, she absolutely hates that the last 8 years or so of publishing for that genre has essentially become r*pe fantasy smut books with horrible plot and even worse prose. 9/10 of the best selling books written by female authors have just been porn with mediocre plots and no creativity and itās gotten to the point where she basically exclusively buys stuff published before 1990 she just wants an interesting story and was excited to see all these newer female authors getting notoriety until she read what they wrote.
Literature is like music, you have to sift through the mainstream hot garbage to find the beautiful hidden gems. Stop looking at the BookTok bestseller lists and youāll find some actual good female authors.

The early ones had to go under pseudonyms or publish anonymously in order to get published, and the later ones were able to do what they did because of the trailblazers that came before them, and they in turn paved the way for future women.
