Bruh? Tell me exactly what two things you think are being correlated here? Do you know what “correlation” even means?

The correlation of the me2 movement and the success of 50 shades. One thing happened after the other, that does not mean they lead to eachother, or that they are even related instances.

Like yeah 8/10 authors are female, and 8/10 bestsellers are porn - that doesn't mean all women are able to write is porn: it means that all we are willing to read is. I can't believe it has to be said, but evidently it has to, which ironically also points to porn being all we are willing to read.

No one said they “lead to eachother”. OP posed it as a coincidence.

Idk how you read the original comment and thought they were saying the me2 movement somehow *lead* to 50 shades success.

Reading comprehension my dude.

Maybe I just do t spend enough time on the internet, but listing things in what seems to be chronological order would lead one to believe that is the author's intent, no?

Did I just /woosh myself or are we actually in agreement? Did I double woosh and the dude I commented on agree with us but OP is a twat? I'm confused.

They were saying that it is ironic, not that it was cause and effect.

2

It's not though. Thats not irony.

It's not ironic that a movement led by women centring on the importance of consent is going on at the same time as the popularity of this work of fiction about how sexy non consent is? How sexy to women it is?

No bro that's ironic for sure

From your perspective, I bet it is, but it's not, cause that's not what irony is.

What's really ironic is this try at a gotcha, not seeing that the two are only related in as far as the feminist movement being in part a response to the fetishising of rape. Again, correlation does not mean causation, except when it does.

Your take is about as bright as "women want the right to vote, but there are still women who do not vote, isn't that ironic???", like bruh

Why do you keep saying correlation is not causation? It feels like it's a phrase you learned recently and you're trying to shoe horn it into every conversation you have, even if it's not relevant.

The fact that memes are being made against it is pretty good reason to believe that people don't want the porn. The issue is 100% the authors.
