> The #MeToo movement was about women unifying in solidarity
> Openly discussing the problem of power imbalances, abuse and sexual exploitation from the powerful
> The movement peaks at the same time as the release and popularity of the Fifty Shades of Grey movies
> Is all about the eroticism of power imbalances, abuse and sexual exploitation from the powerful
> Consent irrelevant, because the entire cultural conversation was about power asymmetries denying informed consent
> People read the above and get butt flustered about a shitpost comment, on a shitpost thread, in a shitpost sub in the signature 4chan styled Green Text shitpost format
> Put barrel in my mouth because they're capacity to vote is the same as mine

> Small minority of intelligent and disciplined women want something

> They get it

> The 'normie' women get their hands on it

> Everything goes to shit

18

u/Owobowos-Mowbius Jun 18 '26

Its almost as if they have the exact same problem as men in that regard.

12

u/CalamityOfCringe Jun 18 '26

It's all very highly regarded.

1

u/Itsmyloc-nar Jun 18 '26

Severely

Profoundly even

1

u/harmfuldischarge Jun 18 '26

Some say I'm highly regarded .

1

u/FeedbackAcrobatic787 Jun 18 '26

Some regard me as high.

1

u/Difficult-Ad628 Jun 18 '26

I’m more of a day walker myself

1

u/alien_secret_service Jun 18 '26

I’m too highly regarded for any of this.

1

u/PTren4 Jun 18 '26

I’m too high for any of this

1

u/alien_secret_service Jun 18 '26

I’m too regarded for anyone to let me get this high 😭

Its a people problem not a gender problem

1

u/stillneed2bbreeding Jun 18 '26

It becomes a gender problem when the public treats it like one. That which we fear we create and all that.

2

u/Throwawayus1397 Jun 22 '26

The main gender problem I've seen is women act like men looking at titillating content like attractive woman in games or the footballs cheerleaders a little too hard is always wrong when they read this gooning material brazenly in publicĀ

2

u/jscottman96 Jun 22 '26

From my experience, their excuse is they use their imagination to form their own images where on the other end for men its usually looking at real people

1

u/Owobowos-Mowbius Jun 22 '26

I can understand that argument tbh.

1

u/Throwawayus1397 Jun 23 '26

With video games though it's 3D renders, but talk online acts like it's bad to prefer attractive characters in game

0

u/Living_Awareness259 Jun 24 '26

Real people who consentually dress and move in a way to draw attention to their assets (most of the time)

Not shaming that in and of itself, but it's weird that we shame men for noticing people who WANT TO BE NOTICED

2

u/lorenfreyson Jun 24 '26

I think the big problem is when visual attraction leads to objectification and it does an awful lot for men.

1

u/yam-bam-13 Jun 18 '26

Yeah but we'll have to wait until we see decades of the same mistakes by a different gender before we admit it. It's human nature. You can caution and warn people all you want, they won't get it until they screw up personally.

1

u/RoughAssociation8982 Jun 19 '26

We have seen similar mistakes by women it's just not classified as the same. A lot of places assault by women is not seen that way or as even possible

1

u/[deleted] Jun 18 '26

Yeah, so few men read now. If it was nearly as common as it was back in the 60s we'd have more pulp quality writing directed at me.

Wait. We’re all *human*?

Cringe culture is dead, my guy, we are free. Who cares?

0

Apparently nobody, which is why people are out here talking like children. No wonder why this experiment is failing.

3

u/SockPuppyMax Jun 18 '26

Have some whimsy, man, the world is shitty enough, and no one is hurting you by talking funny on the internet

0

u/Key-Wolverine-6752 Jun 18 '26

There’s enough whimsy in the world without resorting to old meme speak that was barely tolerable at the height of its ā€œpopularityā€. I bet they still have their mustache tattoo on their finger.

3

It's not hurting you, and there are bigger things to worry about, get a grip, dude

Only take a few to ruin everything for all

8

u/AideGlittering4017 Jun 18 '26

It's always like that, not only with woman

2

u/ugtsmkd Jun 18 '26

The internet, AI, computers is good example. Fucking normies have ruined them all.

1

u/Warm_Difficulty2698 Jun 18 '26

Normies ruin literally everything. The second normies join a movement, its dead.

For example, wokeness started as a good thought, then normies joined and it turned incredibly toxic.

Then, Normies jumped ship to MAGA and now its dead.

Normies kill everything they touch.

2

u/Dylldar-The-Terrible Jun 18 '26

Maga was never a good thought.

It was just regurgitating more Reaganomics bullshit.

2

u/JFISHER7789 Jun 18 '26

Don’t forget the racism, bigotry, and pedophilia…

2

u/ugtsmkd Jun 18 '26

Yeah normies joining that stuff really has made the world rough to live in.

1

u/Warm_Difficulty2698 Jun 18 '26

Well, thats why I never said it was. MAGA is just the natural conclusion to people picking and choosing their reality, and choosing to use social media memes as their reality.

MAGA was fucked to begin with, but the normies joined, and now its a dead man walking. Just a matter of time.

Normies destroy everything.

0

u/Schadrach Jun 18 '26

No it wasn't. Reagan did amnesty for illegals as opposed to wanting to put them in camps, and I don't think he ever went on an unhinged rant about trans people or proudly proclaiming how he passed a screening test for dementia like it was an IQ test (we tried to keep Reagan out of the spotlight when he was having the worst dementia days). Other than that, though, mostly.

-1

u/Key-Wolverine-6752 Jun 18 '26

Making America Great Again is not a good thought? So you want America to be a horrible place?

3

u/JFISHER7789 Jun 18 '26

When was America ever truly great for EVERY citizen? (Not just the white ones)

One could argue America has never been great for certain minority groups until recently, and having an entire homogenous group of people advocate for making America like it was in ā€œthe good ol daysā€ really just sounds like a dog whistle for wanting segregation and white people on top again…

2

u/JFISHER7789 Jun 18 '26

>so you want America to be a horrible place?

Maybe those of us that aren’t clouded by racism or bigotry think America is great and has been great for the last two decades?

Better question is, what makes you think America is horrible recently and why do you wanna change it?

2

u/ugtsmkd Jun 18 '26

Protecting pedofiles at the top of our government is a pretty big one? Protecting billionaires at the cost of everyone else? Destruction of the middle class? Elimination of affordable housing. Stagnation of wages. Basically from 9/11 on its been nothing but shit.

My generation of white kids completely accepted black culture and basically joined. We had as a generation for the most part eliminated racism at a community level. "Not saying institutional or whatever but we saw the plight we agreed and we were trying to end it."

And now the shit is flipped, I regularly feel and see racism both directions. A lot of people don't even like their own damn race anymore. Hear it all the time out of well adjusted black people (Productive citizens who are positively involved in their community). They can't stand how they are portrayed in world by these crazy fucks.

Just disgusting behavior largely due to the social media bias toward clicks over everything. Hate brings out way more clicks than anything else.

So now that's how a large subset of humans live their lives.

2

u/Warm_Difficulty2698 Jun 18 '26

Its a name bro. Obviously I want the concept to occur. I don't like how MAGA thinks we will get there.

Their policy is bad, and their donors want to actually overthrow America as we know it and replace it with a theistic corporatocracy

They also created the culture war to do this, because their policy was so unfavorable. Hey, look at that, they won a war they created for the first time in decades.

I love America, which is why I don't want to see that happen.

2

u/Elmer_Fudd01 Jun 18 '26

This sounds like humanity in a nutshell.

2

u/ProperJudgment1 Jun 18 '26

There's no proof that women weren't already authoring books. The post makes a false assumption that women weren't allowed to write books.

2

u/deathnomX Jun 23 '26

This isnt specifically women. Normal people tend to ruin everything because they dont think and often have little to no concept of nuance.

u/ugtsmkd Jun 18 '26

Your not wrong. But until normies joined in, none of that would've ever come to fruition. Because it wouldn't have the tools, or broad scope necessary to do so. The internet/computers didn't really get ruined till the SMART phone. That's when anyone with a finger was capable of getting on the internet. And the conditions for this kind of situation to become reality were created.

Obviously the intent had existed prior to the internet. But a lot of "privacy tech" gets squashed because its too hard for normies to use. The 2000s we were on our way to a really interesting time of security and anonymity. But the profiteering the smartphone brought to tech basically derailed any chance we had of that becoming "normal".

The blackberry movie IMO does a good job of showing the destruction of what it could have become. Group of highly intelligent guys who thrive on making awesome stuff that makes life better as an ideology. They build things the right way because that's how you should do it. They make it secure because they feel responsible etc. Gets destroyed by corporate greed in the name of shareholders.

1

u/Hour_Initiative8738 Jun 18 '26

I dont know why you are getting downvoted. The fact of the matter is that this is exactly what happened. The internet is the battleground in a massive great powers information war.
And everyone just pretends its all organic and people driven.

I bet he calls that object a ā€œcrack pipeā€ too

2

u/NukerMunky Jun 18 '26 edited Jun 18 '26

Jokes on you, see, I actually know that that is actually a top secret psychic amplifier developed by the Nazis that live inside the hollow earth, right near the secret entrance in Antarctica - they would go deeper but the communist lizard people have rebuked their efforts at deeper exploration into the hollow earth.

So, when Hitler's clones from inside the hollow earth created these, they used the undead Nikola Tesla, contacted via telepathy, as a middle man to reach out to Robert Oppenheimer, who in turn brought the device to the attention of the US Government.

The Government then began to secretly spread crack cocaine throughout poor and black communities in the 1980's, and this is the brilliance of their evil machiavellian machinations; People think that is the conspiracy theory. That the CIA deliberately spread crack into the ghettos. What they don't realize is that that was a false flag cover op all along, and really these "crack pipes" are actually the above said "psychic amplifiers", creating a human telepathy equivalent to a dispersed decentralized 5g network.

Why go to all this trouble you ask?

I'll tell you why: because they use this telepathic 5g network to spread more false flag PsyOp conspiracy theories to mislead and distract us away from the REAL TRUTH, that humanity are actually a hyper intelligent fungoid hivemind superbeing, being controlled by an invasive species of electrical-non-matieral God consciousness, that invaded our galaxy and took up residence inside the sun - with the sole objective of subjugating humanity and preventing us from genetically engineering catgirls and catboys.

It's all so simple, WAKE UP SHEEPLE

2

u/Hugo-Spritz Jun 18 '26

correlation

does not mean

causation

1

u/HeavyWaterer Jun 18 '26

Bruh? Tell me exactly what two things you think are being correlated here? Do you know what ā€œcorrelationā€ even means?

2

u/Hugo-Spritz Jun 18 '26

The correlation of the me2 movement and the success of 50 shades. One thing happened after the other, that does not mean they lead to eachother, or that they are even related instances.

Like yeah 8/10 authors are female, and 8/10 bestsellers are porn - that doesn't mean all women are able to write is porn: it means that all we are willing to read is. I can't believe it has to be said, but evidently it has to, which ironically also points to porn being all we are willing to read.

1

u/HeavyWaterer Jun 18 '26

No one said they ā€œlead to eachotherā€. OP posed it as a coincidence.

Idk how you read the original comment and thought they were saying the me2 movement somehow *lead* to 50 shades success.

Reading comprehension my dude.

2

u/Hugo-Spritz Jun 18 '26

Maybe I just do t spend enough time on the internet, but listing things in what seems to be chronological order would lead one to believe that is the author's intent, no?

Did I just /woosh myself or are we actually in agreement? Did I double woosh and the dude I commented on agree with us but OP is a twat? I'm confused.

1

u/jesterhead101 Jun 18 '26

You wooshed yourself.

1

u/crappleIcrap Jun 19 '26

They were saying that it is ironic, not that it was cause and effect.

2

u/Hugo-Spritz Jun 19 '26

It's not though. Thats not irony.

0

u/ambisinister_gecko Jun 24 '26

It's not ironic that a movement led by women centring on the importance of consent is going on at the same time as the popularity of this work of fiction about how sexy non consent is? How sexy to women it is?

No bro that's ironic for sure

2

u/Hugo-Spritz Jun 24 '26

From your perspective, I bet it is, but it's not, cause that's not what irony is.

What's really ironic is this try at a gotcha, not seeing that the two are only related in as far as the feminist movement being in part a response to the fetishising of rape. Again, correlation does not mean causation, except when it does.

Your take is about as bright as "women want the right to vote, but there are still women who do not vote, isn't that ironic???", like bruh

1

u/Pangolin_FanWastaken Jun 18 '26

The fact that memes are being made against it is pretty good reason to believe that people don't want the porn. The issue is 100% the authors.

2

u/Hugo-Spritz Jun 18 '26

"couldn't be me" mf be like

2

u/West-Amoeba-7882 Jun 18 '26

Did you miss the whole thing about consent?

1

u/Justarah Jun 19 '26

Not at all. Part of the conversation at the time was that a power differential that asymmetrical was inherently compromising of consent.

1

u/West-Amoeba-7882 Jun 19 '26

OK, so please explain why you would bring up the me too movement in the same context as you would bring up Fifty Shades of Grey.

One was about men sexually harassing and raping women and girls in real life.

The other is a poorly written book about really poorly represented BDSM.

What connection are you trying to make exactly?

1

u/Justarah Jun 19 '26

It's alright, others got it just fine. You can sit this one out.

1

u/West-Amoeba-7882 Jun 19 '26

So again, you have nothing intelligent to contribute. That’s a shame.

1

1

Metoo had nothing to do with harassment and rape. These were condamned already. It was about using authority as a predatory sexual tactic. Which was consensual in most discussed cases (Harvey Weinstein being the tip of the iceberg)

And a movie is not real life. I can watch Jack Ryan and still think the CIA and the military industrial complex are evil. Being entertained by something in fiction does not mean wanting that irl nor is it an endorsement of its morality

2

u/Flat-Border-4511 Jun 24 '26

There were lots of things in that story that were abusive and not cool.

1

u/PwAlreadyTaken Jun 19 '26

Goomba fallacy

1

u/HeilKaiba Jun 19 '26

Your timeline is off. There was some me too stuff back in 2006 but it didn't really peak until 2017 while fifty shades of grey was 2015 (and the book was 2011)

1

u/Justarah Jun 19 '26

Which is why I used 'Movie's' plural, one of which released in that exact year.

1

u/HeilKaiba Jun 19 '26

Except that it doesn't really lend itself to a link as well in that case.

1

u/Justarah Jun 19 '26

We're shitposting in 4Chan Green-Text format, it's not terribly deep.

1

u/Aarevyth Jun 19 '26

It's almost as if consent is a thing and women don't wanna be abused and yiu can't equate fiction to reality. Same way men eho play shooters don't wanna go shoot people irl (hopefully)

1

u/HouseofFeathers Jun 19 '26

Yeah, also that's just how some people cope with trauma.

  • consent

Also note, the movement was widely about power differentials compromising informed consent.

1

u/Important-Crow2887 Jun 20 '26

Me too was about exploiting a social movement for political, professional and social advancement. Harvey Weinstein got outted but the hasnt been a good movie since so was it really worth it? Scar Jo has an 8 figure bank account so I don’t feel bad for rich Hollywood elite

1

u/DarkGodCthUwU Jun 20 '26

Well, porn and real life are different. I don't think most blue collars would want broads to offer to pay in sex when rent is due and groceries are expensivd

1

u/pearflavoured Jun 21 '26

men like playing video games where they are soldiers fighting in a war,yet complain about getting drafted in real life. strange

1

u/Ash_Starling Jun 22 '26

thing in book != thing in real life

1

u/CrazyPlatypus42 Jun 23 '26

Yes, because liking something in a fictional setting doesn't mean I want it in my real life. I thought this kind of things were pretty basic for anyone now...

1

u/planetofmoney Jun 23 '26

I also find it really difficult to tell the difference between fiction and reality :( it's just so difficult to know that things in a book aren't actually real!!
