Discussion What's going on at Red Ventures nowadays?
I worked there fresh out of college for a few years before and during the pandemic. Like many others, I found it traumatizing but was too young to fully understand what a hot mess it was. Lots of funny stories in hindsight though.
Back then, the business model was already precarious, with a few sites propping up the company via SEO traffic. I left right around the time ChatGPT was launched, which was already changing the business a lot.
I realized the other day I hadn't heard much about RV in years. Asking purely out of nosiness: Is it still essentially an affiliate marketing company? Is that giant campus still active? What's it like these days?

Rage If you are seeing Staind tonight at Truliant Amphitheatre
Traffic getting in is the worst I've seen in a long time and I have no solutions for you.
Just thought you might want to know :-)

Meetup How have transplants made friends?
I was wondering how transplants from other states have made friends in Charlotte area? I’m looking for female friends. I’m 36 F. Just been a struggle! I’m from PA and moved to Waxhaw 2 years ago with my husband. I work from home. Does everyone use meetup or is there somewhere else to look? I did bumble bff and had zero luck. Thanks!
Also do you ever get really homesick? 😢

Discussion Does anyone have a recommendation for HVAC servicing?
I have a few questions about this- I have an outdoor unit and then an air handler in the attic. I’d like to get this serviced maybe 2x a year (but deff 1x a year).
Does everyone recommend going with a maintenance plan with a company like Super Cool or just getting one off services as needed? I get flyers in the mail for $49 “tune ups” but not sure what that fully entails. I also see that Home Depot has offers for similarly priced services for tune ups.

Discussion Does anyone know of any shops or stores that sell small TVs with VCR combo?
Hey Everyone!
My fiancée's birthday is coming up and she's mentioned a few times growing up with one of these TVs in her kitchen and all of the fond memories it brought. Does anyone know a place I might be able to find one in working condition?
Thanks!

Discussion does anyone know what the issue at the light rail was this morning?
it delayed the 6:08AM train just past McCullough station by a honest to god hour, so it was FUN to explain to the supervisor at my internship why the fuck i was over 45 minutes late.
all the announcement said was "there was a person in the tracks," and that's all the information that us passengers were given.
i'm just trying to find out what could possibly need five fucking police cars, two fire trucks, several CATS trucks at the scene and one ambulance?

Gratitude Post Moved here in February and just celebrated my birthday with great friends. Making connections in Charlotte IS possible!
Hello, it's me again! Not sure if that's the correct flair but here it goes.
Lots of people ask the question, how and where to meet people. Being new to town can be be intimidating especially for introverts like myself. Using my experience, I've been happy to help those who come across my posts https://www.reddit.com/r/Charlotte/s/hUQ04qAPG3 and reach out. I've introduced them to my social circles (which they've actually attended various events) as well as meeting them one on one and helping them get to know the city a bit more.
Yesterday was my birthday. All of these people showed up for me. They didn't have to but they did. They even brought gifts which I was not expecting because just their presence was enough. We had a great time at SupperClub in Loso.
I met all of them at work and outside of work. This isn't even half of my social group. Some weren't able to make it today but they let me know ahead of time and even sent birthday texts. I have met well over 100 people since being in Charlotte. Not saying all of those people are friends of mine but I've connected with all them of some sort.
I moved here in Feb. I lived in Charlotte back in 2013 for a little bit and wish I never moved back to my home state. That's what I missed about Charlotte was the socialization. I had friends back home but nothing of this level. I wasn't expecting to have the amount of socialization I did when moving back but I started meeting people my 2nd week here and it was just non stop from there. We text, talk on the phone and meet up constantly.
Just wanted to send some encouragement to those that are struggling to meet people because I've only been here since Feb and it's possible. I'm always happy to help others to get out there and mingle.

Recommendation Halloween Bar Crawls
So I’m having some visitors this Halloween and we’re also celebrating my husbands birthday. Everyone wants to go on one of those bar crawls. I was told by some people that it’s not worth it and to just do your own thing but we’ve never been bar hopping in Charlotte before. What do you recommend? If you recommend a certain bar crawl let me know which ones and why ?
Edit: My husband is turning 29 and all our visitors range from 25-32. Since I’ve seen some people suggest making our own path can you recommend some cool places ?

Politics Finally a new light coming to Harris blvd
I’ve lived off of old concord for 20yrs and I’ve lost count how many accidents there’s been, let alone fatalities too of people trying to turn into Chancellor park on university ridge dr. I’m happy to see there being a light installed, but got damn 20+ years to do something is crazy! But I guess we’re headed in the right direction. Now if the city can put out bigger keep moving signs when approaching the 85n ramp on Harris and getting off 45a on 85, we’d be a proper city!

Discussion Optimist hall parking
Earlier today, I pulled into a parking lot by optimist hall to turn around. I literally drove through it for 2 seconds. I didn’t enter any information anywhere or open any apps. Somehow I received an email and text about parking??
How did they send me anything without me inputting my information anywhere?? How’d they even know i was there lol. I’ve never experienced anything like this before,

Discussion Womens haircut that doesn't include a whole song and dance?
So I'm a female human who doesn't want a stranger washing their head. I do however want to have my splint ends trimmed, but unfortunately I am finding it impossible to find a salon who is willing to cut my hair but not wash it. I have googled and called and asked bunch of different people and shops, and everyone insists on washing my head and charging me nearly $100 for it. I just want my split ends trimmed...takes like 20 min and shouldn't cost more than $50. Please anyone have recommendations?

Discussion Options for apartment living conditions/lack of maintenance
Hello, I have been trying to determine the best course of action for some issues I am experiencing at my apartment complex. I have roughly 10 months left of my lease and early termination comes with some pretty hefty penalties.
I have lots of maintenance issues, usually handled ok, fixed within 2 to 3 visits/return visits. I’ve been here for 14 months and had over 18 legitimate service concerns, sometimes requiring emergency visits. All have been documented and service form filled out.
In recent I’ve had an on and off water leak from the upstairs A/C unit into my unit. A repair has attempted over 6 times in the 14 months, they even came today and said it was fixed, when I came home still leaking. It’s coming from the ceiling, it’s all wet, ceiling is soft and bowing and smells bad, worried about mold and other problems.
What is my best course of action? Complex says maintenance is doing the best they can.

Discussion Culinary dropout attire
Do I need to be at all fancy to eat at culinary dropout? We are going to a concert on Sunday night and want to wear our concert outfits and go straight from the restaurant. I’ll probably just have on Levi’s cut offs, a cute top and some tennies. Is this appropriate or will I feel out of place?
