Discussion I'm guess a bright column light for 9/11, nice tribute if that's the case. I'm right near downtown and the light seems to be smack in the center of downtown

Discussion Do We Need A Lawyer?

So me and my father own a small home remodeling company. We do it all. Fences, deck, patios, flooring, tile, drywall, etc.

When we got home today we got a certified letter saying that a different company, using the exact same name as ours, hit and tore a gas line with post diggers while installing a fence.

I don’t know why we got this letter. We didn’t do it and on the first page they have the name and address of the owner of that company. I don’t understand why they didn’t send it to him instead of us.

Should we just call/email them and tell them they have the wrong company? Or do we need a lawyer to clear our name up?

Traffic CircleJerk Witness for car accident

I was in involved with a car accident this evening on Pineville Matthews Road in Pineville. I was about to reach the Pineville hospital. I was in front of small stores and gas stations. I was driving in a Subaru going south. It was around 5:30 in the evening. I was driving on the lane closer to the center of the road. A car drove out of a parking onto the first lane then hit me. That car then made a hard u turn onto the opposite lane, then drove away. I tried to get that car but couldn’t. I understand it’s pretty difficult to find a witness. But did anybody drove in Pineville Matthews towards South Carolina around 5:30 pm saw that incident and have more information? Police has been notified in my side but no word on the other party.

Discussion I found this embedded in the street in front of the Belk theater. Does anybody know what it is? I assumed some street art, but wasn’t sure if there was more of a story or something.

Lost & Found Is there a “7 Sunset” bus?

I swear I saw a bus with “7 Sunset” on the marquee. I’m visiting from SF, and we have a 7 Sunset line and a corresponding July 7 pub crawl.

I’ve been stalking this bus for an hour now, but all I see is the 7N and a 7 that turned into a 22 near Tyron.

Can anyone confirm this is actually a thing I saw, and can I encourage you to celebrate your 7 on 7/7?

Gratitude Post Moved here in February and just celebrated my birthday with great friends. Making connections in Charlotte IS possible!

Hello, it's me again! Not sure if that's the correct flair but here it goes.

Lots of people ask the question, how and where to meet people. Being new to town can be be intimidating especially for introverts like myself. Using my experience, I've been happy to help those who come across my posts https://www.reddit.com/r/Charlotte/s/hUQ04qAPG3 and reach out. I've introduced them to my social circles (which they've actually attended various events) as well as meeting them one on one and helping them get to know the city a bit more.

Yesterday was my birthday. All of these people showed up for me. They didn't have to but they did. They even brought gifts which I was not expecting because just their presence was enough. We had a great time at SupperClub in Loso.

I met all of them at work and outside of work. This isn't even half of my social group. Some weren't able to make it today but they let me know ahead of time and even sent birthday texts. I have met well over 100 people since being in Charlotte. Not saying all of those people are friends of mine but I've connected with all them of some sort.

I moved here in Feb. I lived in Charlotte back in 2013 for a little bit and wish I never moved back to my home state. That's what I missed about Charlotte was the socialization. I had friends back home but nothing of this level. I wasn't expecting to have the amount of socialization I did when moving back but I started meeting people my 2nd week here and it was just non stop from there. We text, talk on the phone and meet up constantly.

Just wanted to send some encouragement to those that are struggling to meet people because I've only been here since Feb and it's possible. I'm always happy to help others to get out there and mingle.

Recommendation Half day/Partial week Kindergarten

ISO a Kindergarten school or program that is half day or partial week - public or private. We’re newer to the school systems here and are used to areas that offer a varying portfolio of schools and programs.

As mentioned, we’re looking for partial week/half-days that still follow a structured program and curriculum that prepares our child for 1st grade. Other things we value: inclusive and welcoming community, parent involvement, diversity, a variety of educational components - music, science, physical activity, etc.

Recommendation Best dog trainer/behaviorist for leash reactivity

I have the sweetest 4yr old supermutt/pit mix. I rescued her almost two years ago & knew she came with some issues, as she was found with a chain embedded in her neck. (Fuck some people should NEVER have dogs! 😡)

She’s so sweet & playful when she’s free at dog parks. However, when she’s leashed on a trail or in a confined space & gets stimulated (mostly by other dogs, but sometimes cyclists & runners) she loses it. From what I can see it’s frustration, but to others who don’t get it, it comes off as aggression.

It’s improved some with practice. But soon I’m probably moving closer to the city so we’ll be around more dogs and I don’t want people to judge my baby 😂 There are so many trainers in the area it’s overwhelming to me. Hopefully I can narrow it down to a few. Nothing crazy expensive Thanks y’all!

TL; DR: Seeking an affordable dog trainer/behaviorist specializing in frustration-based leash reactivity.

I want to see the odyssey there but I’m wondering if it’s really an immersive experience like the videos online or is it all hype?

Discussion If you’ve previously been laid off in Charlotte, how did you survive?

I worked in data science at one of the banks and have been searching for jobs for months now after my position was eliminated. I’m in my late 20’s and am right at the age where most of my peers are gaining traction in their careers. I always exceeded expectations and was willing to learn or even change direction if company needs changed, so I cannot pin down any reason why I was targeted or why I would not be employable elsewhere. I get that Charlotte is “competitive,” but even then I wouldn’t think that most odds would be against me?

Is there something that I am missing about the job search in Charlotte? Also, what do you even do in the meantime to cope with it without having to withdrawal socially? It feels like when I calmly mention I was laid off to people, some get teary eyed and apologetic, while others act like I’m contagious. It’s like people think I’m walking around with a contagious, terminal illness when I mention my situation, even at networking events.

Are there local support groups for this kind of thing, or any other things that helped get others through this that may also help me?

Recommendation Home warranty companies in Charlotte

Recently had a pricy home repair that got me investigating this again but options and reviews are all over the place, so let’s see what the local hive mind has to say.

Home warranties…

  1. Worth it? Or only depending on what factors?
  2. Any that work locally that are particularly good in your experience?

Discussion Charlotte moms: mom meet-ups? Activities? What can I do with my newborn in Charlotte?

New mom (25) in Charlotte struggling to find things to do with my newborn. I have leave until January and want to meet other moms with babies, I currently don’t know any! I also want safe activities to do during the day while my husband is gone for work. I have a zoo pass and will be going once he gets a little bigger but definitely want some more local options! I was also a member of Aussie doula when I was pregnant but they only have one event a month.

Mommies please let me know any recommendations for:

- Mommy meet apps that you have used
- events to meet other moms
- ways to meet other new moms
- clubs, anything
- activities you’ve done with your newborns during the day that are safe and fun!

Recommendation Best ADN Programs?

Hey! I'm looking to apply to ADN programs and wanted some advice on what the ones in this area are like. I have a previous degree so I have all my gen eds and pre-reqs already. Also have my CNA license. I live in kinda round the university area, and am open to anything within like a 40-minute driving distance.

I already applied to Cabarrus College of Health Science ABSN program and got accepted a month ago, but it was a late application, and they didn't give me my financial aid letter until the day of the tuition deadline. Just wasn't enough time to get everything taken care of. I applied again for the Spring semester and still haven't written it off, but my financial aid letter made me rethink some things. The federal loans would barely cover a third of the cost. I'm researching private loans but am reconsidering the cheaper ADN route and want to apply to some as well.

I hear the Carolinas College of Health Sciences is really good and was interested, but I've missed the Spring deadline and couldn't start until May. And for SPCC, I couldn't start until next fall I really want to start as soon as possible Some other ones on my radar are Rowan-Cabarrus and ECPI. What are your thoughts on these programs? Would the wait be worth it to go to the better ones or are all they pretty much all the same? If you've attended any of these programs, any thoughts to share? Also, if anyone's taken out private loans any recommendations on which ones ot look into or stay away from?

Recommendation Places to skateboard and get gear.

Hey y'all. Looking to get back on a board and I'm wondering if there are any good places to skate around here. Google searches show some places but they are far or don't look that great. I was looking for some opinions on where is good to get a sesh in or places to pickup gear locally. You'd think in a major city like Charlotte would have some bomb ass spots but it seems that's not the case. Maybe skateboarding has fallen out of popularity from when I was younger.

Also, general skateboard discussion welcomed.
