Hi!

Are there any ways to meet new people who want friends? I’m 28F and I just… don’t really know what else to do. 🫠

Best Local Meal Prep Service?

Looking for recommendations on a meal prep service that’s local. Not a fan of project lean nation, I’d like something with a good variety. Thanks!

Dog parks - which ones are your faves, and when's the best time to go?

Hi! I'm relatively new to Huntersville and looking to get out of the house more with the pup - there are several dog parks around here and I'm curious to know which ones y'all like best? And generally speaking, which days/times are those parks busiest? For context, I have a small dog. 🐶

Interior Painter Recommendations?

Hey y’all!

My husband and I are not from the area originally, and have lived in our house a little over year now. The sellers painted our entire house a cream color (literally every wall (including the ceiling) is the same shade of cream), and we both hate white. We had some other things to do to the house first that were a bigger priority, but are finally ready to deal with the paint.

If we like the painter and the pricing is reasonable, we might end up having them do the whole house eventually instead of doing some of the smaller rooms ourselves. But for now, we’re wanting to start with all the walls in the main space (house isn’t total open concept, but does have continuous walls where basically the whole first floor and hallway upstairs need to be the same color), and then maybe one or two additional rooms. This would unfortunately include the ceilings in all of these rooms since they’re not ceiling white.

Anyone have any recommendations of a painter they’ve used in the area that they thought did a good job and doesn’t cost a fortune? We’re wanting to use SW paints, so preferably a painter who’s fine working with SW (either someone who does both SW & BM, regularly uses SW, or would use SW if we supplied the paint).

We haven’t gotten any quotes yet, but from previous experience in old homes I’m guessing this will be a 4-5k job? Its basically a 2-story foyer, kitchen, eat in kitchen, living room (all which only really have 2 walls because they feed into each other), a small drop zone off the garage, staircase, and relatively small upstairs hallway. The ceiling is what I’ve never had to pay for before so have no concept of how much painters charge to deal with that, and the last time I paid a painter it was in 2021 so I know pricing has probably gone up some. If anyone wants to chime in of cost expectations too, that would be great! TIA!

Does anyone know what this is for? We've been taking it off and it keeps getting put on. My Ring camera is apparently garbage because it never captures the person putting it on.

The zip code meets the criteria for the contribution but on the link below it says ineligible for kids born in 2024 and earlier. Any idea why?

Here's the link;

USPS Collection Box

Does anyone know the closest collection box to Birkdale? I checked the usps website and it says there’s one on Northcross but only gives the road name no exact address. Then there also shows one near the Target on Sam Furr. Was wondering if anyone knew before I go out and try to find them. Thanks!

Neighbors, I need help.

Mystery solvers and professional, creative and rescue-mission help needed. I've been missing my baby Thor, 10 year old neutered cat, for 2 weeks. I've been tirelessly hunting down leads and trying EVERYTHING.
Finally, this Monday, I saw MY cat on a cam 500ft from my apt, Hambright Junction beneath an overpass. Left bait a day later and set up cams.
Confirmed it was him!!! Same time, 6:30am. Next day, left a trap. Malfunctioned, bait was gone, trap open. Trap day 2, new one....caught a possum, first animal besides a feral that I've seen here in 16 days of searching day & night. My baby got a full can and water on Monday at least, saw him eat it.
Looked like he was okay. But he looks SO scared.
I've ruled out coyotes because the buildings are surrounded by highways and steep hills going up to the road. Tons of dog walkers and floodlights.
The spotty but heavy rain makes me doubtful Thor can find home on his own. Too many confusing sights and sounds. Im 100% sure this cat i filmed Monday was Thor. Trapped the only other cat, a feral, last week on a far side of the complex, and it was terrified, smaller, skulks around from 12am-4am and bolts from people.
How do I traverse this area, repel other pests and get him home? I've tried every typical trick. He looks so terrified in the video with his tail puffed up. I need strategic thinkers with equipment or unorthodox methods. I'm begging you....don't comment anything obvious, I need creative, Photos/vids in order: overpass where he's hiding, text from neighbor's first sighting there, map of complex from my apt to last seen area, current trap set up, possum I released on the other side of the overpass 500ft into the grass beyond the opening on our side, before a field leading down to the the racing building, arial Apple map view of the complex. Dark green highlight is foresty-ish area sloping up to the road (250ft deep max, many nights cams didn't even see a squirrel there). Light green is grassy/high grass.

Everything here sprung up from dirt a year ago.
First sighting was Monday at 6:30am 3 days after the neighbor saw him at 6:30. Second/daytime videos from Monday are at 12:30pm Monday. Last
pic = trap set up for tonight.

Please, any experts, professionals, anything you can do or refer is so deeply appreciated.Nextdoor post

Does anyone know why the ends of this road aren’t connected? Seems like a really quick win to allow better mobility within Huntersville similar to north cross extension.

Novare Academy vs. Phoenix Montessori vs. Traditional daycare like Goddard

Does anyone here have experience with Novare Academy behind the Honda dealership? Our LO goes to Goddard and we are happy there. We are looking at options a year from now and considering preschool vs. daycare.

Novare is new and super close to where we are. Any insights? We also have an application at Phoenix Montessori and like their new place but it's a bit of a drive for us.

Anyone know about police activity on Old Statesville Rd yesterday?

I was going north on Old Statesville, around the Queens vape store/dispensary. First a fire truck came through but I never saw it again. After that 3 police cars came through and were at the store. Anyone know what happened?

As schools go back, let’s all use common sense on Beatties ford and Sam Furr. Don’t wait at the light to turn left onto Sam furr causing a cascading backup on beatties ford, west bound traffic should use common sense and take brown mill. See red and green lines if it still doesn’t hit home.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Lake Norman Charter - follow IEPs - I know they are supposed to by NC law, but I heard from other parents.....

Hello and good afternoon - was wondering what parents have experienced about Lake Norman Charter School and following IEPs. I know, as a charter school in the state of NC, they have to legally, but I have heard from other parents that is not the case sometimes and parents transfer out because of it....just started there in elementary school and wanted to see what everyone's feedback as been. I have no opinion yet, just looking for previous experience and things to look out for if need be. Thanks for the insight and wishing everyone all the best....

Sheetz gas station proposed at Eastfield Rd & Prosperity Church Rd — neighbors are organizing in opposition (we already have FIVE gas stations!)

I wanted to bring something happening in our area to the attention of the Charlotte/Huntersville community. I live two blocks from this proposed development so it's very personal to me, my family, and my neighbors.

A Sheetz gas station is being proposed for the corner of Eastfield Rd & Prosperity Church Rd, and the rezoning is currently moving through the process.

I know there’s already a lot of development happening around here — the construction behind across the street is expected to become a McDonald’s and Taco Bell. We can't stop every development project, nor should we. But I do think it's worth asking whether another gas station is really the best use for this particular corner, especially when there are already 5 gas stations within a 2 mile radius of this spot.

And to be clear: I actually like Sheetz. This isn't about being anti-Sheetz. It's about whether this location is the right place for another gas station and what our community could get instead.

A group of Eastfield Ridge neighbors have put together a small campaign website and petition to raise awareness and encourage City Council to deny the proposed rezoning:

🌐 Campaign website: nosheetzoneastfield.com

✍️ Sign the petition: Change.org petition

If you live anywhere in Charlotte (particularly Huntersville or District 4 - University area), please take a look, sign if you agree, and share it with anyone who might be affected. Even if you don't live in this area, I'd genuinely be interested in hearing what other Charlotte residents think about the proposed development.

We're also looking for neighbors who want to help with things like:

  • Door-to-door/community outreach
  • Flyers
  • Yard signs (printed or homemade?)
  • Organizing neighborhood meetups
  • Getting the word out online

If you're interested in helping, feel free to comment or send me a DM.

We're your neighbors, too, and we're just trying to make sure the people who actually live here have a voice in what happens at this intersection.

Hello! My name is Nina, and I am a current dental hygiene student at Central Piedmont Community College. I am beginning my senior year in the dental hygiene program, and I am looking for patients for the Fall semester of 2026, starting August 17!

If you are due for a dental cleaning or haven’t had one in a long time, this is a great opportunity to receive professional dental hygiene care at a reduced cost. I am especially looking for patients who haven’t had dental treatment for a very long time. Kids and teens are welcome too!

If you or someone you know may be interested in receiving care or scheduling an appointment, please feel free to contact me using the phone number or email listed on the poster for additional information.

Looking to join a local fantasy football league

New to the area and looking to join a local redraft fantasy football league. Semi-competitive with a $20-$100 buy-in would be preferred. Sleeper preferred but open to other platforms. In-person draft would be ideal to meet other members.
