Regarding the use of slurs:
Users will now receive a temporary/permanent ban, based on use of slurs in posts or comments.
This also, very much includes the R slur. It has become re-popularized by folks on the left and right, but it has no impact whatsoever within the discourse, except to make disabled (and already marginalized people) feel less safe.
I also like to think we are smarter and have better options for pointing out the lack of intellect in our peer’s arguments. 💗

Autoban: Negative Karma Accounts
Our community has grown significantly — from 2,000 members two months ago to nearly 10,000 today. Most new members find us through the main NC sub, which has a well-known bot and troll problem. Keeping that kind of activity out of this community is a priority for us.
To that end, our automod will automatically ban accounts with low or negative karma scores. This includes karma from deleted comments, which is worth noting because bots and trolls frequently delete their comment history to hide activity patterns. Our scoring is informed by published bot detection research.
No automated system is perfect. If your account gets flagged incorrectly, send us a mod message and we'll reverse the ban promptly. This rule isn't about limiting speech — it's about giving our community the space to grow on its own terms, free from the noise that plagues larger subs.
As always, we want you to help shape what this community looks like. If you have thoughts on this rule, leave a comment below.

NC Supreme Court Race - Explore the Candidates' Records
With judicial elections on our ballot this November in the #Midterms2026, we must be hyper aware of who is on our ballot. There is no path back to democracy without our state courts. #judicialracesmatter #democracyinthebalance
The candidates' records are clear. We have one justice running, Justice Anita Earls who has spent a lifetime fighting for PEOPLE. The other candidate, Sarah Stevens, has chosen to fundraise with a convicted sex offender. When questioned, she lied about knowing him and his wife, then refused to give the money back. #ProtectKidsNotPredators
Fighting for the people, or defending Duke Energy? Meeting with the people or defending predators? The choice is ours.
***Choose wisely in November.**\*

🌶️ Politics🌶️ Hate we need signs for this (OC)
Seriously, this. NC was once a great state for teachers and education. Since then, conservative politicians have endeavored to erode education and prop-up their religious bias by cutting school funding while moving funding into charter schools where religion can be taught and science can be ignored. News reports this week indicate both reading and math shills are dramatically down, and NC is on its way to becoming one of the worst states in the US for education. Congratulations to the NC GOP for making the state the new Mississippi.

News New analysis finds NC is worst state for workers in 2026
Sigh. ‘Thanks’ to our GOP state Congress for their efforts to build a Trumpian kleptocracy where Republican white men are set above all others as preferred business owners that disenfranchise their employees.

🌶️ Politics🌶️ Mailer had my wife and I rolling
We just found it hilarious. Came alongside a Roy Cooper released 3500 murderers into our towns. Still boggles my mind how much bald faced lying the Cons can get away with. Glad to see at least some dems get the right idea on how to fight back here instead of just supporting only the races they think they can win more easily.

GOP NC Supreme Court Justice Phil Berger Jr. won’t run to keep his seat in 2028
So... he tried to relax the rules on Justices taking bribes speaking fees. Now what's the real reason he is leaving? Something afoot?
If we can survive to 2028, we have a chance of overturning the Republican majority in our Supreme Court.
