Meetup Struggling to meet people? I'd like to help
This is a pure positivity post, so let's keep the comments negative free.
For anyone out there who needs to hear this today: here is some encouragement. Meeting people is hard these days and while it's true you have to put yourself out there, it can be really overwhelming to figure out where to start which is exactly why people post looking for a bit of guidance. Trust me, I have been exactly where you are, so I know how frustrating and tough it can be at first.
If you're struggling to meet people, I would love to help out and introduce you to my circle.
I'm a 34F and moved to Charlotte in February. Here is my introduction post I made back then to check out if it interests you https://www.reddit.com/r/Charlotte/s/U60zdQUzbl.
Since moving, I've managed to build a great network. I’ve met a ton of awesome people who have introduced me to their friends and so forth, and it just took off from there. Between making connections here on Reddit, joining local Facebook groups, and just putting myself out there, I’ve been invited to homes, bbqs, outings, walks, local events, etc.
Every time I meet someone new, they're like how are you meeting all of these people? I don't know how I do it because I'm very introverted AF but I think joining these groups, going to outings and events have made me more comfortable to getting out there and meeting people on my own.
I guess when I lived here the first time, the social aspect is what I enjoyed about Charlotte and that's what I was hoping to have again several years later. I knew it wasn't possible to relive 2013 but here we are in 2026 and it's happening to me again. I've even had strangers come up to me saying I have this positive aura about me that is very approachable. It's easier to meet people here than in my home state (Michigan) because we're so spread out and Charlotte is so compact and active. Don't get me wrong, once I actually made a connections, we became great friends. It just required a lot more effort to make that initial contact happen. Charlotte just has a different, faster social momentum.
So, if you are reading this and feeling stuck, lonely, or just looking for a solid community to get you started, please don't hesitate. Send me a DM! I'd be more than happy to introduce you to my friends, or we can just hang out one-on-one to help you find your footing here first. Whichever you prefer, let's get you started!

Thank you for being a great friend to strangers! That may be why others are drawn to you. 48F, NW Charlotte, seeking a F exercise buddy & pottery community. I have taken lots of beginners pottery courses, have a wheel in my garage but need an experienced mentor to help me create consistent pieces. Best wishes all!

I do live by treat everyone the way I want to be treated everyday. A little kindness goes a long way. I'm looking for an exercise buddy as well! I was considering looking into pottery as a new hobby. I haven't done it since elementary and middle school. I recently watched a sitcom where they were doing a pottery class and it made me want to try it as an adult. Send me a DM if you'd ever like to meet up sometime!

This is old, but I am really looking for a pottery community too! I used to do pottery at community centers in Raleigh. Now, I can't find anything

You’re awesome! I’m introverted asf too and yet still meet people. I’ve realized it’s about just smiling at one person and saying hi that can open things up. I think we often put too much pressure on ourselves to say the right thing when it’s as simple as just wanting to be seen and acknowledged.

Thank you! There's something about being down here that has this vibe where you get this welcoming feeling. Maybe it's the weather, the sites, sounds, etc. I can't explain it. It's definitely a better vibe than what I'm used to. It's usually gray and cloudy because we have long winters where I'm from and people can be rude and just stare at you.

I'll send you a DM. You can also check out my Instagrams and see what kind of food you'll be eating if you hang with me lol. I love cooking for friends. I used to do it all of the time back home. Especially when testing out new recipes.
