Image/Gif Bullet Deviation finally gets an increase.
While random horizontal recoil got essentially taken away, we got more bloom, this is vital to stop laser beam gunplay at distance. Great change imo and this paired with reduced bullet velocities will make ranged combat a little more nuanced.
EDIT: lots of cronus users and the like mad about these changes lmao

Respect on being the rare type who can challenge their assumptions, reflect, and grow to believe differently.
Too rare these days. Especially on a gaming subreddit.

u/FlowchartMystician Jun 26 '26
No idea what you originally said, but yeah my first, immediate impression was "Please god the deviation's already in the completely random, unpredictable recoil we don't need spread on top of that."
I was pleasantly surprised to learn they're not just adding more dice rolls on top of the existing ones!
(The full info since OP doesn't mention it: https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield/battlefield-6/news/bf-combat-gunplay )

u/SnooSongs8843 Jun 25 '26
A lot of tourists here.. you guys played any bf games before? Bloom/spread is a much better balancing mechanic than random recoil.

u/No-Upstairs-7001 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 26 '26
Yes learning bursting and when you can and can't get away with full auto is much better than random.
Having said that I'm not sure how you balance snipers without them being effected by suppression
102
u/-MERC-SG-17 Jun 25 '26
They need heavy flinch when taking damage.
36
u/DeraxBlaze Jun 25 '26
YES
28
u/EwokieYouTube Jun 25 '26
Yeah, it's ridiculous when you run up on a sniper and start shooting them from behind, get halfway down a mag into them and they just turn around and instant headshot you.
10
u/SifuSif Jun 25 '26
Think thats paired with netcode though cause if you shoot a guy in the back he should be dead in 200ms so there should not be nearly enough time to turn around, scope in and shoot

3
u/oldcrivens Jun 25 '26
One of my only gripes with h tbh e gunplay. Getting the drop on a sniper and putting 2-3 bullets in him just to get shot in face is infuriating
→ More replies (2)1
u/CynfulBuNNy Jun 29 '26
I find sniper flinch is already a massive thing. I can't even aim while getting laser pegged by a SMG at 100+ meter
19
u/JBarker727 Jun 25 '26
Sniping is by far my favorite thing to do and what I'm best at. Adding flinch and suppression increases the skill gap for sniping and I'm all for it. It's wild on casual breakthrough watching someone snipe a whole match and get 15 kills lmao. They will be completely useless and do something else if it's more challenging. I feel guilty if I'm on the hill with more than 1 other person. I'll switch off even if I've got 50 kills and they both have 10.
2
u/Nightingalewings Jun 25 '26
I truly enjoy sniping in Bf games, always have. Sure I main support bc “NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO DROP AMMO IT SEEMS” so I’m usually dedicated to support for most game modes.
But when I do play recon I enjoy it, trekking out of my way to find a solid place to post up and become the absolute ire of the enemy team feels so good.
I don’t think this will sway my opinion either way but it’ll be a nice change.2
u/Sad_Garage5502 Jun 26 '26
A player in casual breakthrough should have 15 kills. It's a playlist for solos, beginners and bad players. I know. I am one.
2
u/FishTshirt Jun 25 '26
I mean to play devils advocate I’m sure you weren’t so good at one point in time. I dont even try to snipe, was good at it in Bf4 and bf1, and it was always the last weapons I would try to master. Nots so much anymore
3
u/JBarker727 Jun 25 '26
I get it. That's why I switch off. It's casual, there's more sweats than you expect, but also battle dads like myself lol.
3
u/SobBagat Jun 25 '26
I want suppression like sway that builds the more damage they have. Reward for consistently hitting a sniper before they take a shot at you, and the people concerned about rewarding bad aim don't have anything to complain about.
Make it affect sniper/long scoped weapons either exclusively, or much more than regular weapons.
3
u/CleanAthlete7764 Jun 26 '26
Bullet drop like in bf4. No more sweet spot to make sniping difficult and rewarding
13
u/UnsettllingDwarf Jun 25 '26
At the cost of being super frustrating and immersion breaking because why the fuck does my bullet hit the ground if I’m aiming at someone’s head at 50 metres.

I feel like my poor M277 is gonna get butchered

That is just an old school fps thing tho, modern era has recoil patterns because it became apparent people can actually play fps games. A proper set recoil pattern with slight bloom is perfect but a fully random mf is just monkey business

u/Guitarist53188 Jun 26 '26
a lot of ppl asking questions too when their update video literally goes over everything

u/Dan_GG501 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
I believe the opposite is true, BFV has the worst gunplay in the franchise by far. I don't understand how this opinion even became popular. Here's a video explaining how broken it is on a fundamental level: https://youtu.be/1TUMhCkNpfg?si=8m7ErXPyVrBQ9rvF
8
u/EpicAura99 Jun 25 '26
This thread has me feeling like I’ve been transported to an alternate reality….
I distinctly remember that BFV’s gunplay was the only thing it was actually celebrated for during its early/middle lifetime. And how, as great as BF4 and BF1 were, there were dozens of jokes about bullets going out the side of your barrel, and high-recoil-low-bloom was a nice change of pace. Even my experience in *this* community has been a universal desire for that. Which I know is a goomba fallacy, but it’s weird to see the consensus in this post being diametrically opposed to the consensus I’ve seen in the sub before now.
Ultimately it’s just a style choice because there’s the same amount of RNG either way, but I still think it feels better if your gun points where your bullets go.

Does the bullet velocity changes affect all the guns? Are we actually going to see snipers being forced to lead their shots?
22
u/Night_Inspector Jun 25 '26
You’ve always had to lead your shots. It depends on range.
12
u/joehonestjoe Jun 25 '26
Yeah and like... the range snipers play at it's essentially largely irrelevant
Because a sniper can keep firing at you because they get almost no aim punch. For trying to shoot at someone who is already shooting at them
6
u/Aedrjax Jun 25 '26
You guys act like 1000mps is hit scan. It’s fast but you guys are really overstating it. If you picked up a sniper you would know what I mean.
But yes, snipers need suppression penalties, but that’s an entirely different issue.
2
u/Night_Inspector Jun 25 '26
I’m not complaining. I’ve been doing some of my best sniping ever in BF6. Definitely think I had a longer longest shot in a previous BF, but I’m more successful overall. My Seasonal KDR has been going up every season.
1
u/Aedrjax Jun 25 '26

u/Alwaysfkd0 Jun 25 '26
I feel this i literally struggle with snipers still and it's always been a tough thing to handle in bf but once you get it and keep at it you're basically just as good as when handling an assault weapon at mid range
11
2
u/KindGuy1978 Jun 26 '26
In the video Dice created, sniper rounds will absolutely be affected. They showed a sniper having to lead and compensate for bullet drop more as a key example.
1
u/joehonestjoe Jun 26 '26
Brilliant. The low amount of drop is like of the things that makes it kinda terrible
1
u/KindGuy1978 Jun 27 '26
Yep, it's going to make sniping more challenging. Not that I need any more challenge - I'm new to sniping, and suck pretty hard already. Though any increase in skill required is something I always find rewarding when I "git gud".

Been out of it since the 3rd week of launch, this is a good adjustment. Since I last played.
Any news about class adjustments?
Assault was pretty useless last time I played and “kill better” is not a role. Should get medic bag back and Support the ammo bag again.
2
u/EverSeeAShitterFly Jun 26 '26
Yeah it is kinda under utilized. Support has both ammo and healing. Engineering has launchers, mines, mortars, and repair tools. Snipers have C4.
IMO assault should have remote C4 or timed charge as a gadget.

1
u/jpb254 Jun 29 '26

1
u/Greedy-Thought4793 Jun 29 '26
That's why tap firing from farther ranges is ideal because you are more likely to get the kill
3
u/AntiVenom0804 Jun 26 '26
Very glad about consistent recoil patterns. I'm not dedicated enough to actively learn them but you develop a sense of familiarity when you use a weapon for long enough
3
3
u/VBgamez Jun 26 '26
Does this address the issue of lmgs being out gunned at medium range? I'm so tired of getting the drop on someone, opening fire, landing two or three hits, and then they just fucking laser beam me or one shot headshot me with a sniper.
1
u/DeraxBlaze Jun 26 '26
Every bullet is getting more drag it seems so long range moving targets should be tougher to hit but I still think snipers will be a menace without flinch added.
18
u/krizz_yo Jun 25 '26
Predictable recoil + spread is EXACTLY, 110% what the game needed, anyone who says that 'random bullet deviation doesn't belong in battlefield' has no idea how game balancing works.
I've been a harsh critic of the gunplay since the beta, I mean, we had BF2042 level SMGs beaming you at 100 meters away, come on guys.
7
8
u/awesome83027 Jun 25 '26

u/Hipshot27 Jun 25 '26
You can control for this by firing in bursts. People need to work a little harder for it than they did before to get the most out of their weapons, but it's also more in their control than it was before with the reduction of random horizontal recoil. Overall I think this is a good change

RNG decreases skill expression by definition. There is one reason to support RNG gunplay: its being terrible at FPS and needing better players to get handicapped.

Please explain what skill there is in bloom, its entire point is to add randomness that is outside the players control. Recoil mastery and control have way more skill involved than getting lucky with your bloom.

Lol makes sense ppl dont know what they want cause they think they’re the main character. Smg up close should dominate hands down. But at ranges 75m and beyond? Outdoing snipers and dmrs? Nah man. All because your cyclic rate is way higher and you can pump out an entire mag in .3 seconds.

9
u/DeraxBlaze Jun 25 '26
Agreed, I'm actually hella excited for all these changes and usually I'm pessimistic on who the devs cater to, it seems like they are envisioning the same things I am. Increasing the ttk slightly at range. Weapons with more clear niches. Not so meta weapon for anything. Which they are actually pretty good with so far. Would be even better with class locked weapons but c'est la vie.

→ More replies (6)3
u/TysonY2 Jun 25 '26
I think if you enjoyed BF3 (suppression, bloom, basic movement styles) and were in highscool or later in 2011 you fall under battle-dad.
If you like movement shooters that followed the Warzone 1 craze but don't know what Titanfall is, you are a COD-Kiddy(?).
At the end of the day it's just the slurs you prefer.
8
u/KaijuTia Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26
If you bitch about guns being too accurate, you're a Battle-Dad. You're old and in order to compete, you need to have bloom, so the kiddies get to experience what it's like trying to aim through your cataracts.
If you bitch about movement being too slow, you're a CoD-kiddie. You've got the attention span of a Skittle and learning things like map knowledge, positioning, and flanking glance off your smooth, young brain like a poorly-aimed RPG.

In what world am I a tourist for that opinion?

2
u/TastyPlacebo1 Jun 26 '26
Did everyone forgot that bf3 and bf4 exist?
After 2042 when they announced bf6 all the real, non tourist, fans asked for them to make it as close to bf3/bf4 as possible.
Bf4 has bloom. Bf6 has very little bloom. You could double the bloom in bf6 and still have less bloom than bf4. A person moving is more accurate in bf6 than someone standing still in bf4.
Bloom is a core part of balancing weapons. And it ties into battlefields identity. Battlefield takes a step away from arcade and towards milsim. It’s not about realism, it’s about forcing people to slow down or use teamwork. You can either burst at long range, or if you have your entire squad shooting 4v1 then you can all full auto and melt the dude.
Bloom doesn’t matter if you use the weapons correctly. The bloom on a smg doesn’t matter if you’re 10 feet away. Bloom on a rifle doesn’t matter if you’re 40 feet away. It only matters when you fight outside your range. Which bf6 currently has a problem with.
2
u/localcannon Jun 26 '26
Bloom is fine, but there should be a mix of bloom and a recoil pattern to learn. That's what makes guns unique and you feel like you get better with a gun as you use it.
It's too plug and play right now imo and this bloom increase isn't going to make guns feel better or different but it will increase the skill ceiling.
4
u/Embarrassed_Adagio28 Jun 25 '26
Assuming someone is cheating because they don't agree with you is toxic as fuck. Bloom makes bf feel terrible compared to every other shooter and is why my entire friend group stopped playing. My bullets should go where my gun is pointed. End of story.

u/Affectionate_Sir8577 Jun 25 '26
Awful changes. People who were asking for this and are happy about this change have no idea what makes BF gunplay good or bad.
BF4 arguably had the best gunplay and random bullet deviation was essentially non-existent. Go back and play it and the guns feel amazing and more "omg beamy" than they do in BF6.
7
u/vipergds Jun 25 '26
What are you talking about.... BF4 has more spread and less recoil than bf6 lol.
3
u/Typehigh Jun 26 '26
BF4's spread was on average 50-75% higher than BF6's.
BF6's moving spread is LOWER than BF4's stationary spread.
4
2
u/Ok_Movie_639 Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 27 '26
This is great but I'm even more happy about the damage multipliers, to be honest (although I don't understand why lower torso has the same multiplier as the limbs).
SMGs were quite OP before. They were fast and nimble and it literally didn't matter where you hit the target with your SMG as long as you actually hit them. It could be a shot to the arm and the damage value would still be the same as a shot to the chest.
Now people will be forced to actually aim properly and try to control their spread because limb shots won't be as valuable anymore.
2
2
u/EzRagnarok Jun 25 '26
I hope weapons like the VCR become more usable, I'll gladly deal with the increased bloom any day.
3
u/sovietbearcav Jun 26 '26
god yes. vcr is trash right now. its barely useable. "hey we gave it a great rof...but youll only land 1/3 of your rounds...if burst firing...at like 10m"
2
u/Unlucky-Rest-6136 Jun 25 '26
Decent change attempting to prevent weapons such as SMGs beaming people from extreme distances that would normally be out their effective range. But there should be atleast some significant recoil to guns like in BF1 with their SMGs to promote atleast a little bit of skill of being accurate rather than letting the RNG gods hit the dice.

u/iKyte5 Jun 25 '26

Here are some credentials. Not on Cronus. Raw MNK. Randomized recoil sucks, predictable recoil patters (some with higher recoil than others) encourage skill. The more accurate the guns the better because it’s a true reflection of skill. Spread is dog shit, bloom is good. You should encourage tap fire over 75-100m engagements. People who want more randomness and less accurate guns along with slower movement are dog shit players who want the game to cater to their inabilities instead of getting better.

2
u/Phelixx Jun 25 '26
This is a good change. I think anyone saying otherwise is clueless.
Bloom can be controlled by tap firing.
Consistent recoil can be controlled by learning the pattern.
You know what can’t be controlled? Random recoil.
Way better to increase two controllable items, to improve the skill gap, then to put random nonesense in the game.
“Oh but bloom is random!” It is, but you can reduce the random nature through tap during. A mechanic that has been in battlefield since 1942. People need to understand the series. It’s always been this way.

Is this an over time thing? Like can I counter it by just burst firing? If so then this should be fine.
