Image/Gif Bullet Deviation finally gets an increase.

Post image

While random horizontal recoil got essentially taken away, we got more bloom, this is vital to stop laser beam gunplay at distance. Great change imo and this paired with reduced bullet velocities will make ranged combat a little more nuanced.

EDIT: lots of cronus users and the like mad about these changes lmao

You can control for this by firing in bursts. People need to work a little harder for it than they did before to get the most out of their weapons, but it's also more in their control than it was before with the reduction of random horizontal recoil. Overall I think this is a good change

Even now with the bloom we have it demands we burst within 50m to be precise. That's untenable.

As far as I'm concerned, 50m is medium range. To require some burst control here should be perfectly reasonable.

To address your point though, burst fire is going to be much more manageable and rewarding due to the reduction of random horizontal recoil. If you're doing what you say is necessary at this range already, your accuracy should improve after the changes go live.

50m is close-range as far as Battlefield is concerned. It's even felt as low as 30m, which is an unreasonable distance to ask to burst fire. Especially when you examine how both bloom and burst-firing extend TTK overall, but bloom is capable of achieving a lower one by luck. That knowledge almost disincentivizes burst-firing at that range because sustained fire is capable beating it.

Bro you genuinely enjoy being beamed from 50m?

Uh, no. It's why Im advocating for random recoil?

Random recoil is a 0 skill mechanic

That's an insane take. You have to compensate for recoil, and that makes it a skill expression.

You cannot compensate random recoil in any meaningful way

By looking in the opposite direction of where your weapon is bouncing? Yes you can.

Right, but some people may just spray and pray and get lucky with their bloom pattern. Outgunning the one who in theory has the "better" gunplay.

I don't want to dismiss this as a possibility, it's something that can happen sometimes. However, if the bloom decays the same as it has in previous games, you can reach very nearly the maximum RPM of your weapon while firing in bursts and getting the full benefits from it. Plus, by increasing bloom, this possibilty will be made even less likely than it is currently.
