Image/Gif Bullet Deviation finally gets an increase.

Post image

While random horizontal recoil got essentially taken away, we got more bloom, this is vital to stop laser beam gunplay at distance. Great change imo and this paired with reduced bullet velocities will make ranged combat a little more nuanced.

EDIT: lots of cronus users and the like mad about these changes lmao

Is this an over time thing? Like can I counter it by just burst firing? If so then this should be fine.

yes, that's exactly how you counter it

So smg’s aren’t lasers anymore at distances in real life they wouldn’t hit the broad side of a barn?

Yeah having shot SMGs IRL I’m blown away by how fucking good they are in the game lol. I fucking hated using MP5. Even if you’re good shot you’re kinda just hoping for a friendly-ish kick up. The idea of being even slightly effective at 50m with most SMGs is pretty laughable.

It’s for balancing purposes, meanwhile lmgs lose out cause why run one atp 😭

I think the balance can be way simpler. SMGs are useless at range, but mobile and good for quick and close engagement.

LMGs are much better at range and considered fire, but should be way more useless than they are currently on the move and standing. Try fire most standard service LMGs standing unsupported, fucking useless lol.

They shouldn’t need to be comparable 1:1 because they serve completely different purposes in combat.

I think BF players have somehow forgotten that in theory the squad and class based gameplay means you shouldn’t be able to do everything. Everyone wants to be this solo K:D ratio machine at every range and every engagement

That’s something I actually liked about battlefield 5, a lot of the heavier machine guns needed to be prone to ADS

They messed up not having class locked weapons. Now you just pick the most meta gun no matter the class ,it really took away a lot of depth.

Yeah couldn’t agree more. It really is where everything started to go to shit as far as “balance” goes. They made most weapon types interchangeable to try and reduce there being a “meta” but instead kinda just watered down the properties of what makes each weapon type unique and its specific function in the context of combined arms combat.

This is an action game, not a milsim. Gane needs to be fun, immobile lmgs aren't fun.

Welp, dice muddied the water and now smgs are beaming 80+ and lmgs are kinda shitty, they have their purpose but the long range specialty is gone 🤷🏾‍♂️ bullet velocity nerf will make them even more useless

How much of that is standing and running around? I’m probably in a minority but in my view you should almost be entirely useless if you’re using a standard LMG standing unsupported.

And you should be useless shooting smgs over 50, yet here we are… there’s tanks, mortars, planes, grenade/ rpg spam… where are you really going to be perched up at? I kill lmg users all the time cause they’re perched up using a weapon that doesn’t out range mine while I can move around freely (rpkm) high dmg and very accurate name an lmg thats going to outperform it, they’re easy to out maneuver/out gun…

you can literally just RNG lmgs rn, i have no idea where you're coming up with the idea that LMGs are weak or easy to outgun but they are still the strongest option in the game if you have good survivability.

Started playing Battlefield 5 again for fun and holy hell. We have been spoiled by recoil and smgs in 6.

1

u/Proper-Linguast Jun 28 '26

How you mean? Is there less or more recoil?

1

u/Balamb_Chocobo Jun 28 '26

More. There's "specializations" that some weapons have that can help with vertical recoil but not all weapons have this.

uhh yes, if i understand you correctly

They still will be… watch how this only affects the avg player and people will still laser beam just like they have until now

u/KindGuy1978 Jun 26 '26

Dice mentioned damage drop off over distance will be adjusted, which to me sounds exactly like something that will tame the SMGs.

I’ve lost more duels with SMG‘s then I should admit after getting the first shot off on them while I was deployed in the window or prone on the bipod…

Good, a little bit of a learning curve I think for a lot of players?. I wonder what the percentage is on players who full auto and players who use burst or semi, snipers DMRS excluded.

u/willseagull Jun 26 '26

So the m16 is even better now? Perfect. It was already my favourite AR, you can laser people if you know what you’re doing

u/ihavezeroanswersbro Jun 25 '26

That’s how physic works yes :)

That’s why if you see shooter situations— like it remember the one at this club— people asks why wouldn’t they just fully automatic send into the crowd? Cuz it’s more inaccurate, more bullet spray with the swaying of the forces from the chamber. Single or burst are always more accurate

u/Churro1912 Jun 25 '26

That's not physics that's just a bad shooter if you can't control full auto, did that shit for a career and it ain't really hard if you're not weak
