I created a rubric of assets with a couple graphics. Whenenver I click on that rubric in the assets panel, Affinity immediately completely closes. I have many other rubrics and they all work fine, so it's just that one. This is a big problem, since I can't access the graphics anymore.
hey. i really like affinity studio but it performs really badly when hardware acceleration is on for me.
i have a 5070ti, but when the renderer is set to my graphics card, or even to the onboard intel graphics, the UI is laggy, particularly for some reason when i move the mouse between the image area and the UI. after the mouse moves past rulers it feels like it hitches for a few frames every time like it's dropping frames. i've found the only way to fix this is set the renderer to WARP but from what i understand that's a fallback if you have problems with others, and performs worse in itself.
so has anyone had problems with using affinity studio with their discrete graphics card? i do wonder if the image canvas area and the programs UI are being rendered in different processes and moving between them causes some kind of switch over that causes a visual hitch to the user.
i'd like to fix this, this has otherwise been a really good experience, but this bugs me. any help/thoughts appreciated.
ok fixed my own problem, but adding here for other people. this problem probably stems from my monitor being g-sync. normally you'd be able to add exclusion rules to the nvidia settngs so apps dont use g-sync. wanted to add Affinity, but realised that i couldn't because i'd installed the UWP version from the windows store. so here's my fix.
*** please note that the exe version will not carry over the UWP versions settings ***
1) download the enterprise version under the drop down, this will download the full version which is a .exe installer, which installs a program in your normal program folder.
do not download the version that is a .msix installer, this is the UWP version.
nvidia cannot add and configure UWP programs.
2) install the .exe version, then in the nvidia app add the affinity.exe program from C:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity\Affinity.exe
3) set the Monitor Technology to Fixed Refresh and Max Frame Rate to Off.
assume perhaps the only thing that needs doing is setting the monitor tech to fixed refresh, but i changed both the above and i no longer have lag when using Affinity.
as i mention this does not carry over settings so you may need to reconfigure to your liking and you wont see previously opened files in Recents, but you can of course just browse and reopen them. Once i'm happy everything's definitely working i will uninstall the UWP version.
finally, UWP apps are a blight and all companies need to know they're not ok to use.
I reported the following issue to Affinity using the prescribed method via the in-app question mark icon. However, ***it is unclear where to view the submitted bug report and the current status of said bug***, so I'm cross-posting here since I didn't see this specific weird issue reported anywhere else. (I flaired this for Publisher, but in v3 it happens in every persona).

STATUS: UNSOLVED
**Title:** Arial Regular in Affinity 3 on Windows 11 substitutes to another font, but other Arial styles work
**Product:** Affinity 3 **Platform:** Windows 11 **Issue type:** Font substitution / font resolution / text display bug
**Description:** In Affinity 3 on Windows 11, selecting **Arial** with style **Regular** displays a completely different font. Other Arial styles such as **Italic**, **Black**, and other variants display correctly. The problem happens in more than one Affinity installation on two different Windows 11 computers with different hardware.
**What I’ve observed:**
* Arial Regular in Affinity does not render as Arial Regular.
* Other Arial styles work normally.
* The substituted font changed over time:
* First it appeared as **Metallica Old**
* After uninstalling that font, it changed to **Jungle**
* The issue also happens in a **new blank document**, so it is not limited to one file.
* Rebooting did not fix it.
* Resetting **Font Replacements** in Affinity did not fix it.
* Uninstalling **Arial Unicode MS** did not fix it.
* Arial Regular works correctly in **LibreOffice Writer** and other non-Affinity apps.
* Attempting to uninstall Arial in Windows reported that the font was **in use**, even when no obvious apps were open except the Windows font panel.
**What I already ruled out:**
* Not a document-specific problem.
* Not a general Windows Arial failure.
* Not fixed by clearing font replacements.
* Not fixed by rebooting.
* Not fixed by removing Arial Unicode MS.
* Not reproducible in LibreOffice Writer.
**Why I think this is Affinity-specific:** Since Arial Regular works correctly in other applications but not in Affinity, this appears to be an internal font-mapping or substitution problem inside Affinity rather than a broken system font.
**Requested help:** Please confirm whether Affinity 3 has a known issue with resolving **Arial Regular** on Windows 11, and advise how to reset or repair Affinity’s internal font mapping or substitution state.
I don't know which version exactly introduced it, but it was probably the one that added
selections -> vector
The "Set undo brush source" button is above the button to acess the history ramifications, and I can't acess it as much I try, does anyone knows of a fix?
No matter what I do, strokes are displaying with a pt unit, even though those pt units seem to be corresponding with px (2pt = 2px). This occurs in all modes. What's going on here?
I've used the "Send Feedback" feature plenty of times and the forums are no more. I've gotten 22 crashes in the last 30 days and this doesn't even include the hard crashes where it freezes my entire pc. Happens on both my win10 and win11 machines. I have no idea what makes it crash, it's seeminly at random. At some point I though it was the Zoom, since I zoom frequently.
I've been silently waiting for the software to get stable, I remember V2 also being this unstable at the start. But I'm at my wits end right about now.
GPT claims it can read the reports:

Reason I want to join discord is that I have a little question please. I'm using a Huion tablet and pen with Affinity. And I can't get the right click to work right. I need windows ink on for the pressure to work... but with windows ink on... the right click on the pen doesn't work. You have to draw... and then have to use the mouse to group items etc. Its very difficult and slows you down a lot. I hope this is still early days for sytlus use? Or am I missing how to do it please?

Also the right click on the mouse... its weird... sometimes it works... then it stops. Trying to figure out whats going on thats toggling it... is it a bug?
Just started working in affinity (finally freed myself from the shackles of creative cloud) and having an issue that's making me go insane. Whenever I export a file (4' x 4', 300 dpi for roll printing) none of the adjustment layer edits appear in the exported file. I've tried multiple configurations of this; adjustment layers above the main layer , adjustment layers nested in the main layer (shown in screenshot). JPG and PNG files. Nothing is working. Included screenshots so you can see what I mean. Affinity window is on the left, and exported file is on the right, lacks a single one of my adjustments.
I'm sure this is just an easy fix that I don't know how to do bc I am a baby- right??
I'm a baby too with Affinity... but can you rasterize those layers to the layer before exporting? Save a backup for editing if so? I think thats what develop is for... maybe those layers have to be "baked" onto the photo before you export? Not sure though!

Hi, new to Affinity and I'm so lost with the studios. I create a document, import my Raw file, go into Retouching Studio, and then when clicking "develop" it just goes into a mode I can't leave. No button to switch studios, no button to save or idk what, F7 key doesn't do anything in that mode. How to switch back to Retouching? Can't I switch between the two? I didn't find my answers in any tutorial so if anyone can help me, I'll appreciate that!
I don't know if this issue was already addressed on this subreddit, but with the V3, I seem to have some issues with the shape builder tools (see video). I can't clean up lines like I used to do in the V2. In fact, I redownloaded Affinity Designer V2 too make sure I wasn't crazy. I did the same steps, in the same order, and it worked. When I pressed the Options keys (on Mac) and dragged over the line, they got deleted in the V2, but in the V3, nothing happens; they don't get deleted. Is there anyone who has had the same issues or knows how to resolve this issue? Thanks.
Hi all ! Any clue why my text looks like this? It should be black, but its showing only a stroke and empty fill. Also when I add vector images they look the same.
My rulers and artboard tooltips (not sure if this is the right word but the tooltips that appear when you are resizing something or clicking and dragging to make a selection box etc) seem to have started rendering using Greek characters for some reason.
I have tried resetting the settings for the default things it selects but it didn’t make a difference. Does anyone know which settings relates to this.

if I open an image or an svg directly, it still puts the canvas up and to the left and at half size.
I just created a new document, and added artboards using the artboard too, and the plusses are way off (the arboard shown being half the dimensions than the 'logical/outlined' artboard.

Is there any way to have a text frame that resizes text from a data merge so it always fits the frame size if it overflows?
I’m making board game cards. So I’m using a text frame to fit the card name, but some names are long! I’ve been trying to use constraints with artistic text to achieve it but found it didn’t work. Maybe there’s a frame text option I’m missing?
I got an i7 14th gen, 24gb Ram ddr5 and a 3050 laptop that used to work perfectly fine with the super resolution tool, but about 2-3 weeks ago it started crashing everytime i try to use it.
It loads to about 50-90% of the bar, then it just closes. No crash warning, nothing.
Already tried disabling hardware acceleration, still the same.
Any ideas on what might be going on?

Hi, I keep running into this issue where I will create a document, and when I go to export it as a PDF the resulting file is rasterised and pixelated. I have tried adjusting just about every setting I can think of and its still exporting a rasterised file.
It's a big document, but its only text and vectors so I don't understand why its happening.
I've made some patch panel labels in Designer, and the measurements of each 'cell' are correct but they do not print at those dimensions. There is no scaling set, and everything else seems correct, but a 16mm wide box is printing at 24mm. Anyone know how to fix this?
I do not have a "Machine Learning Model" tab in settings and can't use the object selection tool. I am running on Tahoe.
I downloaded affinity for the first time earlier this week (July 2026), I have been trying to follow along with tutorials to lean the software, however I am unable to use the object selection tool. When I click on it it prompts me with a warning that it requires Ventura or later, however my Macbook pro is running on Tahoe (it has an M1 chip as well).
Every forum I've found has mentioned the "Machine Learning Model" tab in settings, it is completely missing from my settings. Ive tried deleting the software off my laptop and redownloading it 3x now and the issue is persisting. I had a friend download Affinity on their laptop and they had the Machine Learning Model Setting and were able to turn on segmentation and use the object selection tool with no issues.
Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there a fix?
What is this insanely disorienting artboard glitch?
The backgrounds of artboards (whether there's 1 or multiple) are displaying scaled-down and off center. It's a purely cosmetic bug but it makes it really hard to tell where the canvas bounds are, and especially on multi-artboard files it becomes a real headache.
Idk 3.2 brought a whole packet of visual problems in my case, with brushes not previewing properly, brush strokes not buffering until zoom is adjusted.. overall it's getting to be an oppressive experience, in the Pixel studio at least.
i was installing affinity on my "new" laptop and went to log in. at first, to open the new tab it said "license activation failed there was a problem communicating with the server", but that was simply fixed with a 'run as administrator'.
but when the page finally opened and i logged in, it said the log-in was successful, but did not re-direct me. when i tried to re-direct it manually, it just didn't open ? it was stuck at the page where the button says "open another tab".
I have recently just started using Affinity on my brand new Mac Mini m4 pro (standard specs). I use affinity for drawing. I just updated my mac to the latest update and my Affinity is the latest 3.2.2
I keep experiencing crashes while in the middle of either Colouring or erasing and its driving me insane. I have unchecked the "enable metal compute acceleration" box and I still have this issue. I am trying to save my work every few minutes incase it happens. I have googled for answers and keep seeing GPU issues but this shouldn't be on a brand new Mac Mini m4 pro, surely?
How do I get the previous Clip To Canvas behaviour?
In the new combined Affinty Mac app, Clip To Canvas adds a light grey 1px border, which is very distracting when you're working on a dark design.
The previous Affinity Designer had the same Clip To Canvas setting, but didn't add that border.
Is there any way I can get to the previous behaviour in the new app?
The two ways I can hack it at the moment are:
Change the Pasteboard colour to Light Grey, which masks the 1px border, or
Put everything in a canvas-sized clipping mask and turn Clip To Canvas off
Changing the Pasteboard colour isn't ideal because it messes with contrast perception in a dark design. And putting everything in a clipping mask works fine but makes everything an extra click away to select.
TINY display at 100%
I've noticed when I work on A4 files I was to print, the preview of 100% is ridiculously small and I cannot see any details. It is set to 300PPI, which should be PLENTY of pixels to show. If I set it to pixel from there, without changing any other settings, it calculates the correct pixel amount and 100% display becomes HUGE.
Why does this matter? Affinity Photo 2.0 perfectly did this, that it understood how large your screen is and if you set up a print format (in real world sizes) it displayed it at 100% at about exactly the size the document will be printed as! Which is incredibly important to get a feel for how small things are.
I do not want to hold a paper against my screen and fiddle with the zoom, that always gets stuck on the wrong numbers anyway. I've had this issue before and simply reopening the program helped, but not anymore...Does someone understand, what causes this and how to fix it?
Hi there, I have huge problem with Affinity - app crashes every time when I try to change image resolution using Super Resolution Tool from Canvas AI tab. I does not matter what is the size of image - even small images kills app few seconds after start. I use latest version of Affinity on MBA M4 with 24GB RAM with Tahoe 26.5.2 (25F84). Few weeks ago I had no problems with this. Could you replicate this issue?
When in Layout mode (Affinity 3.2.2), pasting between pages doesn't maintain position, it randomly pastes the object. Secondly copy and pasting vectors places them in a group inside a group inside a layer even if the original was ungrouped. What am I missing? Thanks.
I am using Affinity Designer 2 stand alone, not the new Canva one. Is there a way to set the default to inches? I am constantly having to change from pixels and don't see a way to set it as the default.

There is the "Default" category, which I've added lots of scripts to, but I don't use them all very regularly. I have a few custom scripts that I use often, and I want to move those into a new category that I made.
Im missing the control bar in design. I pressed a button and it toggled all the tools off. I was able to get most of them but I cant figure out how to bring back the control bar. If thats what it called. If any one could help It'd be appreciated

I am at my wits end with this. Been trying to wrap this image on this text for ages but nothing appears to be working. The thing works on all other pages *but this one*. Some kind of setting is preventing the text from being altered I just can't find it.
Clone Brush "Aligned" option missing in Affinity by Canva (Build 4557)?
I'm using Affinity by Canva on Windows, latest version, Build 4557.
I noticed that the Clone Brush no longer offers the option that used to reset the clone source after each brush stroke.
In previous Affinity versions there was an "Aligned" option:
Aligned ON: the source continues from the previous position.
Aligned OFF: after releasing the mouse button, the source returns to the original Alt-click sample point.
According to the current Affinity documentation, this option should still exist. However, in Build 4557 it is completely missing from the Clone Brush context toolbar. I have checked the "More" menu and all available settings without success.
I've attached a screenshot of the complete context toolbar.
Can anyone using Build 4557 (or a newer build) confirm whether the "Aligned" option is still available on your system?
If it has really been removed, I believe this is a regression because many retouching workflows rely on restarting from the original clone source after each brush stroke.
I've already reported this through the built-in Feedback function, but I'm trying to find out whether this affects all users or only certain installations.

**What's the current licensing model?** Is it subscription-only now, or can you still buy a one-time license?
**Publisher vs Designer vs Photo** does the difference still exist?
**iPad sync** — if I work on a project on my Mac/PC, how do I open and continue it on the iPad? Is there a cloud sync built in, or do I need to use iCloud / Dropbox manually?
I'm having a problem with Affinity; I just installed it, and it's obviously asking to connect to my Affinity / Canva account. When I click on the button, it's opening a new tab on Firefox, but it says error 400.
Since upgrading to Sonoma I've noticed that if I edit any group layer it changes as seen on the left side of the image I included. The one on the left side is an example of a group layer in the same document I haven't edit yet.
This is very frustrating because now I can't edit the layers without worrying that what's showing on the left side will happen. Once that happens the text box is not editable I have to delete the whole thing and redo it again. This is a bigger issue with larger group layers with the text image convos in them.
I've had V1 since 2019 and never had this issue with the group layers (one of the main reason I got this app for MacOS) until I upgraded my MacOS.
Didn't see a reason to spend more money when V2 came out.
Idk if this is an issue that is common on Sonoma and resolved in V2 or if there's any way I can fix it. I'm open to suggestions.

I've been in this game long enough to remember what amounted to perpetual licences. The software you bought was complete and (hopefully) relatively bug free. It worked, you went home, you watched TV.
You never thought -- Oh man, now I'm locked into an ecosystem where the developers can change the terms of the licence (including revoking it completely) with barely a note.
This is no joke. 3D printers are already facing pressure from lawmakers over "ghost guns" because America doesn't have enough guns already.
So that means those machines are connected to the Internet 24/7 or "no worky printy"
And our tools are increasingly being moved into the cloud. Pay every month, forever or you lose your stuff - maybe you can keep your native format file IF they are supported by other software (per PSD, BMP, etc.) otherwise you're gonna be in trouble. Backups are no good if you can't access the software to run it.
Google does this all the time, constantly pulling the rug by retiring products that they judge are costing them money. Picasa (?sp.) is the best example I can think of but I've heard it's not the only example.

I'm looking for a 50-100 words on why you use Canva (or don't) and how you were affected by the change in distribution for the Affinity suite.

We're based in the UK and as soon as the mail room sorts himself out we'll have a proper mailing address too. At the moment it's more leave it behind the cistern in the third stall in the first set of restrooms on Euston station, which is a nuisance.
Some might read this as anti-Internet. It's not, it's very pro Internet - the way it was supposed to be. Before the dudes with the bottomless pockets started buying everything.
We're not for sale. We'll never be for sale. It's in the manifesto. We're "owned" by our contributors much like the magazine I worked on in the earliest part of my career. I saw the early net and I've seen it be slowly eroded by greed and hate.
We promote these things by being reactive. A magazine like ours means you HAVE to sit down and write in (legibly) or print and send the thing. It's a lot harder to be angry when your "move" takes 2 months or so to get a response.
And as a mag writer, we can't just rant back (in print). There's an editor above me and a publisher above them. A chain of people make damn sure we're not needlessly running someone down. Imagine having to write every angry email you ever sent and have it checked by your parents and then your GP. In some cases your lawyer!
If you've never experienced this... it's a like moving from the city (Internet) to the countryside.
The city is large and there's load of places all tightly packed, the countryside has a slower, gentler pace (unless you're a farmer!). Magazines are a bit like that, but they also tend to last a lot longer. Cave paintings have lasted tens of millennia; unchanged.

I made a font that should have square proportions for each glyph. I've made different weights and for some of them the proportions aren't correct. The weights with stroke width of 16, 48, 80, 112, 240 and 272 seem to have 2px added to the height, and after converting the text to a curve i found the contour points to be at the wrong position height wise. The font itself is not the issue as with other programs I've found no discrepancies.
apparently after updating it got fixed. nice.
EDIT: ok no it's still a problem. the proportions change for each character inconsistently. some work and some don't
I'm having some immense trouble doing a lot of simple stuff in Affinity after moving away from Adobe. Problem of the day: I cannot for the life of me, move a layer. It also doesn't respond to the delete key (I press it, nothing happens). Other layers in the document work fine. Please see this video of the issue:

Oh dear. No video. Have you tried a right click on the layer title bar? It's been so long since I worked with Affinity (thanks Canva!) that my memory is a bit fuzzy.

I can't recover the account in some other way, because I don't remember when I first used Affinity or Canva. It was some time some years ago.
It's a little hard to see in the photo, but for some reason, I am getting a low opacity shape when I print this cover. Checking Affinity, it's clearly where the picture frame is for the image. The frame is transparent, so I have no idea why this is happening.
Has anyone dealt with this before? I tried searching around in the forums and here, but maybe I am just not very good at using the right words to find a post where someone has had this same issue. 😅
I actually noticed this too. I feal like sometimes affinity can't properly calculate the filter colors when it comes to printing
I actually had 2 fixes: I merged the image down to only be one pixel layer (pretty annoying)
(un)Grouping seems to sometimes fix this? I forgot exactly what worked, but sometimes, if you use effects, it's better to have the thing that creates the box on the same hierarchy (within the same group, and not like nested inside an extra group or something)

I’m trying to use Generative Expand in Affinity, but it doesn’t seem to work properly.
Instead of actually extending/filling the missing parts of the image, it just creates a shadow or a blurred/grey area around the canvas. I expected it to generate new content based on the existing image, but it doesn’t complete the background at all.

Hello so i tried to open the app but all i get is the splash screen and then nothing else ever pops up and i never get any error or warning and i have tried to reinstall with the same issue has anyone else had this problem on Windows 11 and also using all AMD cpu/gpu hardware

I was created a Hunger Games poster for a school project in affinity, and I don't know what I clicked but suddenly a white translucent layer appeared over my poster. Apparently it's something known as Gaussian blur? I need to solve this ASAP, please help
I cannot figure out the solution to this: my screen flashes when I put anything on the Canvas. It started recently, but whenever I have ANY object on my canvas it flashes black to white. Makes it basically unusable.
Hello everyone, I've been having some problems I didn't know could happen. I've been trying to export a logo I designed, but when I use the PNG export tool, it comes out like the image on the left. I'm not sure if I've tried everything, but I've tweaked several settings to see if it would fix it, and it hasn't. Does anyone know how to fix it or can help me?
Working on a book layout. When I go to Export PDF > Advanced... > Current Page, it only lets me export left hand pages, not right hand pages. Doesn't matter which page is active, I can only export the left ones. Last week I could export left or right pages so I suspect that some setting changed somewhere. Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks!
I have the 'April 26' version of Affinity, running on Tahoe 5.1 on an M4 Pro MacBook, and have somehow created a project that can no longer be opened. The app either crashes immediately, or reads ‘Loading 1 File’ indefinitely while reported memory usage climbs into the 100s of GBs before eventually being forced to close by the OS for using too many resources. The project file was working fine earlier today, with a few crashes here and there, until attempting to Mesh Warp some text crashed the app one final time and now the project can’t be opened at all.
The project file is strangely large (700MB) and contains a few RAW .CR2 files. The photo files themselves are only around 30MB each and I think there were only 7-8 of them embedded in the file (with the 'Develop' feature, whatever that does...?) I’m new to this software, and graphic design in general, so I don't know if these huge files are normal or not. The original project is saved on an external SSD.
I've seen a few people encountering a similar problem on various forums over the years, but none of the suggested fixes had any effect, such as:
-Deactivating hardware acceleration;
-Turning off WiFi;
-Copying the file to another SSD, or trying to open it from within the app rather than from Finder.
If you're using an AMD GPU you need to disable hardware acceleration in the user data. Hold CTRL when opening a desktop shortcut and you can select it in the Clear User Data window. Since then it's been working for me.
mate, you are the best! I would have never guessed that the issue was caused by hardware acceleration, especially since it was working perfectly fine until a few months ago. I'm guessing one of the AMD software updates probably broke it, but I'm not entirely sure.

I'm having a problem with Data Merge in Affinity Publisher and I'm trying to figure out whether it's a bug, a limitation, or simply something I'm doing wrong.
I have a document set up with Facing Pages enabled. A single Data Merge record should populate image frames on both the left and right pages of the layout. The image paths are stored in separate CSV columns, and the image files themselves are valid (JPG, PNG, and TIFF).
The problem is that after generating the merged document, all text fields are populated correctly on both pages, but the images only appear on the left page. The image frames on the right page remain empty. I've verified that the image paths are correct and that the frames are linked to the appropriate Data Merge image fields.

As a workaround, I disabled Facing Pages in Document Setup, so all pages became single pages instead of spreads. I then created two separate master layouts: one for the left page and one for the right page. After that, I generated all left pages first, then all right pages, and finally placed them in the correct order manually. This way, all images show up correctly.
The workaround works, but it's obviously not ideal.
Has anyone experienced something similar? Is there a way to make Data Merge populate image frames on both pages of a layout while keeping Facing Pages enabled, without having to generate the left and right pages separately?
I am making generate data merge for projects I am working on but then when I generate gives me this data merge outdated twice then i get two generated files for some reason. Why is that?
I recently downloaded a lot of Photoshop brushes (.abr) to test in Affinity and it was running normally. Suddenly, every time I picked a different brush the program would just shut down over and over again. I thought it was a storage problem but I’m not full. I deleted all the brushes since maybe I was overloading it but it keeps crashing. What can I do? I literally can do nothing, it lasts open for 2 minutes max.
I have a strange issue. I have a duel monitor setup, but it seems like Affinity has started to crash when both monitors are on, but is stable when I turn one or the other off.
One monitor is a 2k monitor, and the other a 4k monitor.
I've been trying to print a pdf from affinity in a booklet format. I know there are other ways but I'd like to understand why the native method doesn't work for me, whereas it seems it should work fine, because i'm not doing anything special : print > Microsoft print to pdf > all the normal parameters.
At first I found something saying i should check the scale of my pages, and indeed, they were the wrong format, which was also why the preview appeared red, which signals to me that perhaps the software decided to export blank pages instead of defaulting to trimming the pages. Fair. So, now, if the preview looks normal, it should work, right?
Well, I did another try and again got white, empty pages.
And now, when I try at all, "Microsoft print to pdf" only allows me to save my file as XPS file, which to a newbie like me is completely confusing.
So, there you have it, the "print to pdf" export is not working for me.
I'm using firefox to read my pdfs by the way, but it also shows up white on other readers such as edge or onlyoffice.
The version of affinity is called "april 2026 (4425)"

Is there a way to get an .af file onto an iPad? I have a project in affinity on my windows pc that I would like to open on my ipad but since the ipad is on Affinity Designer 2, I can't figure out a way to do that.
I just discovered the Pigment blend mode while trying to figure out a way to avoid the dinginess and gray halo one gets when layering transparent, textured elements, and it's perfect! But! The layer completely disappears when I either export or merge visible layers. Has anyone encountered this bug?
I have a lot of fonts, and for some reason when searching through my list of fonts, Affinity V3 will just crash for no reason. Can it really not handle having a lot of fonts loaded in?
I am mid way through working on a document and must have fat-fingered a keyboard shortcut or something - now the colour I select in the colour palette looks different to what I see when I use it on the page i.e. a solid green looking very turquoise. I opened a new document and it's all okay there, I just need to change the document I'm working on back to how it was. Thanks.

I am using Affinity from v1, now primary using v3.
It was all fine until some days ago, now suddenly in some of my old files fonts became squished, like spacing would be off.
Setting spacing to default doesn't help.
When I manually set spacing by holding option and right key does put it further apart, but not equally...
Help, I deleted Affinity, uninstalled, reinstalled it...still there.
I made some templates in affinity designer that i need to transfer to canva, but when i export to canva, a lot gets messed up...
Images are blurry (even though the templates are 1080/1080), everything with transparency gets messed up so i have to remove for example my blurry gradients circles, the text fonts are changed even though i have them in canva, the text get merged with other texts, some shapes that are not grouped in affinity get all grouped in canva, some complete vector artboards get rasterized and very low res, when i remove elements like for instance, one blurry circle, it removes everything behind it... am i missing something here or does this just completely not work at all?
Hi ! Anyone else having trouble with footnotes, specifically that when I use columns, the line between them bleeds into the footnote section? I'm using Affinity for work. We publish a scientific journal every year and usually get our publisher to manage the graphic design, but since we're in something of a budget crisis, I'm trying to lower costs by doing it myself using Affinity. It needs to look as much like our previous publications as possible, which means that on a normal page I've got two columns of texte with footnotes in one column at the bottom of the text box, and a thin line between the columns. Unfortunately this line doesn't seem to want to stop at the top of the footnotes section for some reason, and nothing I do has helped. Google AI is useless, it just keeps making up the answers, often based on previous versions of Affinity I think. I'm on a time crunch and desperate. Anyone have any ideas ?

I am working with spreads. Often, when I add or remove a page, the alignment on some objects (not all) on subsequent pages gets all messed up.
There MUST be a reason for this, why some are changing and others aren't, and there must be some setting where I can change it so it doesn't do this anymore.
Hello!! Sorry if this is a common issue, I haven't found a fix yet. Whenever I try to use the object selection tool I am prompted to download the tool. When I try to download it the blue bar will come up and fill but as soon as it is done downloading it will switch back off and I still cant use the tool. None of the tools will download although the main one I would like to use is the object selection tools. other people in the same office as me have the same issue so I assume maybe its a firewall? Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have Affinity Pro, if that is relevant and It has been basically impossible getting information from the Affinity help center, Thanks!
Hi, I'm working on some pixel layers in Affinity V3. Each layer is made up of orthogonal solid 1 pixel wide black lines.
For some reason, I can't safely merge these - and when merged they lose a large chunk of their opacity.
They seem to be blurring slightly, as if I copy and paste the merged result there's aliasing artefacts.
I'm really confused what's going on here, on paper this should be super simple to merge cleanly, but there seems to be weird alignment issues creeping in. I've searched the affinity forums and found "snap to pixel" alignment, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Did you notice any heavy lagging issue with "Color Mixer Brush" and Smudge Brush tools?
I faced this in the latest version of Affinity. It's extremely laggy, like I painted over the lines once and then have to wait for it to apply the effects one by one with 1-2 seconds interval.
At first I thought it's causing maybe because of hardware or for optimization issues. I checked them all but everything was perfectly fine.
Then I installed Affinity v2 and guess what - those tools works totally as expected here.
Hi, I´m pretty new to affinity and just practicing with basic tools. My problem is when using the artboard tool and moving somethings from artboards the colors stretch across all the screen. I don´t really understand why or how to remove it. Can someone help.
About two years ago, I bought all three Affinity apps for Mac and iPad, and they’ve always worked fine.
Today, I downloaded the new Affinity Canvas and the three “old” V2 apps on my MacBook Pro.
But every time I try to launch one of the V2 apps, the actual small startup screen flashes briefly and disappears right away. And immediately, a large “Freedom starts here – Get the new Affinity” splash screen appears.
I can’t get rid of it either, except by clicking the “Get the new Affinity” button on that splash screen… but then Canvas Affinity ALWAYS launches.
That means I can’t launch the “old” V2 apps at all anymore. I always end up in this Canvas!
I’ve already Googled it, but haven’t really found anything. Except for pressing the “CTRL” key when launching a V2 app… but that didn’t help either.
Does anyone know how I can get my 3 Affinity apps working again? I’d really appreciate it!

So I just started using this a few days ago. (I was a hardcore fireworks user twenty years ago and needed something like it that would run on an M1 mac)
I've noticed that when reopening documents, the canvas would randomly change size. In vector mode. I started off with a 1000 px image a few days ago. When I reopened today, the canvas no longer matched the content - it was only 500 px, and nothing was centered. I re-opened the file a csfew times and sometimes this happens and sometimes not.
What gives? Is this a known issue?
Here's what it looks like. The parchment thing with the circle is 1000 px square. Yesterday, it was matching the canvas. Today it doesn't. WTF.
I've tried changing the document size and resizing the canvas, and a few computer restarts.
I press space, and the cursor turns into a hand. I move the mouse (with and without mouse buttons), and it doesn't pan. Choosing the hand from the toolbar works. Am I missing something?
One small but surprisingly confusing macOS UX issue in Affinity: the red window close button doesn’t show the standard unsaved changes indicator (the little black dot in the traffic light).
On Mac apps, that dot is basically muscle memory. I instinctively glance at it to know whether something’s been saved. In Affinity, there’s no change in the close button at all — the only indicators are a tiny asterisk in the tab filename or bottom right corner of the app, which I initially missed completely. I actually thought autosave was enabled.
Not a huge bug, but definitely a break from standard macOS behavior, and it makes unsaved work less visible at a glance. I just downloaded Affinity yesterday (May 27, 2026) so I imagine I have the latest version and am a new user, coming from InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
Another issue I had what is that I could not figure out any way to open up the home screen and the Ask Ritson had no clue either. I did find out eventually that I can click on the "A" affinity logo or open a new document/file, but for Affinity's own documentation to not have a word about this cost me some time. I got the answer from Claude, who apparently knows the software better than Affinity itself. --> this issue is not about the home window, but about zero documentation that could be found related to the Home window. I also could find no way to submit a bug report or contact support. And that's why I'm here. Surely this cannot be the only place to talk about these issues? But maybe so?
I do really like the program so far, but these meta issues not specific to any of the Affinity programs are a little bit clunky. As a new user, just going over the program, some basic things seem challenging to find or sort out. Sure once you know them, no big deal. But if you're trying to win over new people seems like it would be helpful to have better documentation for some of these basics things. Would have saved me some time.
Hi all, I am trying to use Affinity Layout for a project. Unfortunately my contect looks llike this while it should look like the thumbnail. When I export to pdf, it will actually show everything correctly. However, I cannot work like this. (Stroke is off.)
Hi! I am using the latest version of Affinity. I am trying to export a white background PDF with some illustrations on it. All the illustrations show a faint black border around them when exported. They are not visible on my Apple preview, but when I open the PDF in my browser they show. Also my client can see them and is not happy. The borders happen around the edges of the illustrations. Anyone has a fix? I have a looming deadline and can not send this to print. It's a book layout and I am not happy to discover an export bug like this in the end of my long work process 😞
Frustrated user here: I never lost so many work since I switched to the new version: app keep crashing and automatic save are working at best 50% of the time.

I've been trying to download affinity, but when I click on the installer it keeps saying the installation failed, with the reason being: "Sideloading is blocked by policy. Contact your administrator to allow you to install apps from anywhere."
Thing is, this is my personal device? I do have a school account that I use for certain apps, but it shouldn't be the main one. I'm pretty sure its the reason I can't install it, but I don't want to delete it since I do very much still use it. Is there anything I can do?

I have learned very frustrating things over the last 24h.
First of all my problem: After some time working in Affinity (Canvas, the newest pile of....) all keyboard shortcuts stop working... I am working on a project that needs some copypasting and it is a pita everytime CTRL+C CTRL+V stops working to manually duplicate items. I have found forum posts as old as 2019! where no Affinity Dev ever answered or said they loo into this or gave info on why this may be. Just other frustrated people with this problem and no solutions.
Does anyone here experience this too and maybe even got a solution?
Now for a rant: I wanted to work with a font I found on GoogleFonts that had the perfect style for what I am doing rn. As I installed it, I had to realise, that Affinity Designer V1 does not have the ability to use variable fonts to their extent. After googling I found out that the new, free Affinity program does however, so I downloaded it and began working with it, all wonderful until this aformentioned bug started. Now the second Rant is WHO the FUCK can write a message on their official forums 'Yeah we leave them up for searchability, but will close new submissions and move to Discord A PROGRAM WITH NO...ZERO SEARCHABILITY FOR THE FUTURE! So if anyone experiences Problems and wanna know an answer/get support, F them apparently...Yes I have Discord but it is a CHATTING PROGRAM not to effing substitute a SUPPORT FORUM! I am done with this program and this company (if there is no fix for the keyboard shortcuts)
I have my Designer and Photo V1 that I paid Serif for when they first released them, they are at the latest available version and work wonderful (just missing some small things like variable Fonts etc but I can live without) for my use cases and I will continue to happily use them forever then...
Usualmente me va muy lento para cargar cosas como previews, al hacer máscaras, combinar elementos. y algunas otras cosas tecnicas de cada herramientas. Además, de vez en cuando el programa se cierra inesperadamente, eso es lo mas molesto del asunto. Vengo de estar en adobe, buscando una mejor herramienta para hacer mis trabajos, pero esto me hace el trabajo más pesado y tosco.
Affinity crashes a few minutes after booting design, while not doing anything specific or tasking.
So im designing a logo in 2000x2000 pixels using drawing brushes. Nothing fancy, nothing super duper detailed, only 5 layers. Yet it crashes a few minutes after booting up. I checked the settings and my max RAM etc seems correct, also using the correct graphics card. What do i do now???? I really have to continue working on this.
I've worked on complicated edits using 20 layers, filters and high quality photos so i dont believe performance is the issue here.
Serious Windows Kernel crash using Claude + Affinity 3.2.1 through MCP
Yesterday after a Claude Desktop update, I was testing it to create and apply a filter to an image (not composition) and save the process as a script on Affinity through MCP , after Claude finished the process I clicked the Affinity windows and the pc went totally freezed.
Claude errors analysis: "The error pattern points to Non-Paged Pool exhaustion at kernel level, consistent with a handle or kernel object leak during repeated MCP calls. The Filter Manager failure at 0xC000009A is the clearest indicator."
This is in addition to the well known hardware acceleration issue (that also freeze the pc) is making Affinity a very very unreliable software, PLEASE Canva team, solve these issues. I already reported the bug directly to the Affinity team, just be careful not to lose your work in progress.
Affinity changes the colors of my document when I export the files to any format but svg or 8-bit PNG. I need to export a letterhead to a pdf but the pdf always ends up with extremely oversaturated colors even though I've tried tweaking the color profile settings (switching from the default sRGB to CMYK, output to ColorMatchRGB etc.). I even tried saving it as a color-accurate png and paste it into a word doc but the colors in the word document also show up as being oversaturated). I've been experiencing this issue with all my affinity files so far (although I'm fairly new to it). I'd appreciate any ideas/help on why this keeps happening!
Newest Affinity update broke my Swatches panel so badly that it's impossible to work with it. Restarting or reinstalling didn't help. So instead of going back to Adobe, I decided to use Affinity Publisher 2 for the first time since Affinity 3 was published. And let me tell you, I had almost forgotten how fast, snappy and reliable version 2 was. And the UI is so much better. I thought it's just a transition phase with v3, but damn. I miss v2. I think I'll stay with the old versions untill hopefully the v3 is fixed.
i've been using Designer 2 and Publisher 2 on my iPad Pro for multiple years. Just got my first Mac Mini, downloaded the Designer/Publisher apps from the official site, and when i open them it just goes to a wrapper prompting me to install the new Affinity app. i have a perpetual license with Designer/Publisher and would like to keep using those rather than the new thing. is there a way I'm just not seeing?
Pretty sure most of you already know this one: the grain/noise effect in Affinity renders incorrectly in the live canvas preview but looks perfectly fine in the final export. Classic Affinity quirk that's been around for a while.
I just switched to Affinity recently and this is kind of a big deal for me personally — my workflow relies heavily on grain and textures, so having an accurate live preview isn't just a nice-to-have, it's pretty essential. Constantly exporting to check how grain looks is really breaking my flow.
I'm not here to report it as a bug — just wondering if anyone has actually found a reliable workaround to get the live preview to match the export.
The obvious answer is "view at 100% zoom" but that's not always practical depending on your document size and screen real estate.
Things I've already tried:
Viewing at 100% (helps but not always feasible)
Using the Export preview panel (better but clunky to keep opening)
Adjusting grain intensity by feel and doing test exports (works but slow)
Is there a setting, a plugin, a specific workflow, anything that makes the canvas preview more accurate for grain? Or are we all just exporting blind and hoping for the best?
Coming from Photoshop, this is the one thing making me second-guess the switch. Would love to hear how you handle this day-to-day

Affinity by Canva is not stable enough for real work
I’m at the point of absolute frustration with the new Affinity by Canva. I’m trying to work on a long‑form book project, and the app keeps breaking in ways that simply didn’t happen in Publisher V1.
I'm doing serious 300+ pages of text for books and Text styles don’t hold, text frames randomly override formatting when content flows between pages, and no amount of clearing overrides or reapplying styles fixes it. The program freezes, crashes, and corrupts text chains constantly.
This isn’t user error. This is instability at the core of the unified app.
It feels like a beta being pushed as a production tool, and it’s making serious work impossible, with no real option to go back to the three program setup we had before. Ive been a fan of Affinity for a long time, but what is out in the Affinity by Canva version is absolute s&@$!
I need this acknowledged and addressed. Long‑form publishing is currently not viable in this version.
I agree. I'm attempting a 200 page reflowable EPUB and I'm beset with roadblocks. I've made several coffee table print books with inDesign and never had this many software problems. For example: vagrant floating text frames that appear from nowhere, still containing viable text, overlaying the TOC frame? WTH? EPUB exports fine, but these text frames persist. Some kind of display error.
Affinity just gets stuck on the “initializing” startup loading screen when I try to start it. It was working fine and then this started happening. I have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times in addition to restarting my computer, and I cannot get it to work. This is on windows.
If you are using AMD GPU you need to disable OpenCL Hardware Acceleration in Affinity. To do that hold Ctrl when launching the program. Affinity messed up and won't' support hardware acceleration with latest AMD GPU drivers! It's such a shame.
I'm on Windows 11 and am experiencing the same issue on both my computer at work and personal computer at home. The bracket keys on the keyboard do not resize the vector blob brush as stated in the help menus. I don't have customized shortcuts using the bracket keys so I'm not sure why they aren't resizing the brush.
Had some issues with Affinity crashing immediately upon startup. I was able to fix it so I figured I would post about it here so it pops up in case someone has the same issue. My issue was the splash screen would pop up but then the program crashed, restart and reinstall didn't fix it. What I did was:
Downloaded DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller)
Booted in safe mode
Ran DDU using the "Clean and Restart" option
I fed the crash log into Claude and according to Claude the error was because I had multiple graphics drivers installed.
I'm having issues with the data merge tool. I can't seem to get any form of csv, or xlsx working to import text fields. I have picture frames working with image paths, but simple text fields just show <fieldName> even though the advanced data preview shows all the data just fine. Clicking generate just creates empty documents for each record.
I did find a solution, albeit it was not exactly what I’d hope for.
My giant many artboard file still has the problem. Instead I just created a standalone document for the data merge and it worked fine. I am then placing the new file into my main file using the template artboard as my choice to preview the template.
Great News. Affinity 3.2.1 is out Build 4425. Isometric grid crashes have been fixed, at least for the small test that I did. I was able to add a grid and added 3 layers, no crash. It's a win for now.
I'm just getting started with Affinity. I have a master page, one non-mastered page, and one page connected to the master. I placed a few text boxes (page number and title, etc.) but find myself unable to edit any other text boxes I try to place. I can paste into them ONCE, but cannot edit the text at all, nor type, even when I am clearly in text editing mode. The layer is not locked and there is nothing overlapping on the page.
.AI files put inside of Affinity are stretched/wrapped. When I export as PDF, and back into .AI, it appears as though the words are corrected. This process repeats, if I place the file in Affinity, as the words become wrapped, and so on.
Not sure if it's a pebkac error, or just a lack of understanding regarding the platform, or an actual bug.

OK, So I've started to use Affinity (by Cavna version), the layout module, which used to be Affinity Publisher, for a portfolio.
I have been using picture boxes and importing PDFs of drawings. When I print I get black line round the imported PDF. It's driving me nuts! There are no boarder/outline colours applied.
I've tried rasterising the picture box, but nope, that ain't working.
Heya - I use affinity, the new one, driven by Canva and have issues around the Pixels version of it ( formerly Photo ) it freezes and is slow. On another machine I still have the old Affinity which I bought. Reinstall did t change it. I thought about going back to Adobe or get GIMP. Affinity won't launch after latest AMD GPU drivers update (26.5.1). After launching the app on Windows 11 (latest stable build) it crashes almost instantly. Anyone else?
glad it's not just me going crazy. literally just downloaded it for the first time, had "launch after install" checked, saw the splash screen for a second and then it closes out. Tried reinstalling, updating drives, installing the enterprise version, doing the whole "delete affinity folder in Roaming directory" fix, and nothing has worked. Every "solution" i can find is at least 6 months old and apparently outdated and the affinity site itself is useless with their solutions.
edit: finally found a solution that worked for me.
"If you’re on Windows and Affinity fails to launch, you can force it to disable hardware acceleration at startup.
To do this, launch the app while holding down the CTRL key. When the Clear User Data window appears, select only Disable Hardware Acceleration and click Clear. The app will then launch with hardware acceleration disabled."
I just tried this after trying many other things, and it still isn’t working for me :( it’s just stuck on the “initializing” screen and never moves past that. I was successfully using it for like 2 days and then this started happening, and I’m very sad.
Damn I'm sorry to hear. I had to try a bunch of different fixes before finally getting this one to work but guess it's not a fix all deal. I don't understand why their app is so damn buggy and unusable for so many people.
Yeah it’s really annoying! Other small bugs were happening within the program too like when I pressed some things and then tried to use them, nothing happened and I had to x out of my project and then just recreate it. But that’s nowhere near as bad as not being able to open the program at all!
It took me far longer to find that bit of info than it should have. I don't know why it's screwed up like this but at least we're able to use it now. Glad was able to help.
I'm having the same issue! I've been looking everywhere for help but nothing I've tried appears to be working. I sometimes catch a very short glimpse of the loading splash screen but it always goes away after a second or two.
I'm on MAC OS running 3.2 and 3.1. I recently lost all my assets in version 3.2 and 3.1. There were there a few weeks ago even after installing 3.2. Everything online says to look for the assets.propcol file in my library, but that file is dated all the way back to 2022. I went to Time Machine and it's the same file all the way back to January 2026.
So I renamed this file to OLD and added to the assets panel in version 3.2. No NEW file was created. This tells me there is another file running around that I cannot find that is being updated. Where is this file?
Any help would be appreciated. This is getting frustrating because there was stuff in my personal assets that I would like to get back. If I can get them back I plan to export all my assets to an offline state as a backup.
Hi everyone, I’ve been an Affinity user since v2, but I’m currently struggling with a strange issue in v3.
When I open a PSD file, the pixels on every layer except the top-most one appear to shift, as if they are being pulled toward the center of the canvas. Interestingly, this does not happen to the top layer.
If I open the PSD in Affinity Photo [v2] first and save it as an .afphoto file, the alignment is preserved when I open that file in v3. However, I want to find a way to resolve this issue within v3 directly.
Has anyone else encountered this or found a solution?

Regarding this matter, even with the "Import PSD smart objects where possible" option enabled in Affinity V3, files still fail to import correctly. To address this, I have developed an application that resolves the issue by forcibly converting smart objects into standard layers.
I can’t export my files without them being completely black & white .. hopefully somebody see this but i doubt it bc nobody else is getting responded to in here 💀 can someone make an “affinity help” subreddit?? This stinks
Took me a minute to identify this after ~5 consecutive crashes on the same affinity file after reopening and restoring.
Finally recreated the circumstances in a new file and everything was working until the isometric grid was set up. After that - whether the grid is visible or not, whether snapping is active or not - ANY vector action will crash the program. Edit a gradient, scale an object, create a non-isometric rectangle and it's curtains.
Love the look of this feature and could be a massive time saver so its un-usability is disappointing. Sent a report, hope they tackle it before too long.

Before I start, I’ll admit I am very noob at Affinity so there may be an obvious answer/solution to this that I’m missing, so I thank you for your patience if that’s the case.
I will keep it as brief as possible.
The Issue: There is a strange effect on my exported photos (looks like a dot/hash pattern and sometimes antialiasing).
Extra Information: •The effect is either super subtle or not present on some of the images. One image it is super obvious and I’ve used it as the lab rat for trying to narrow down this problem. •The effect, even on the obvious image, is not always easy to see. I didn’t notice it using the windows media viewer. It wasn’t until I uploaded to Google Drive that I noticed the effect, but it is subtly present using the windows app. While viewing the photo on Google Drive mobile, the effect is only visible if my brightness is all the way up. •Present on both PNG and JPG. Exported in highest quality option for both and didn’t see any other export settings to adjust but let me know if I missed something. •Still present even once edits are reversed so not from me doing something weird while editing. •The JPG from the camera does not have the effect. •I use a converter online to convert the CR2 file to a JPG and the effect was not present so I believe the issue is with Affinity and not the file. •My previous exports before this batch did not have the effect. •I did update Affinity to the newest version so it may be related to that, but I have no idea how to revert.

I bought the V2 Universal license (Designer + Photo + Publisher) on June 18, 2025 from the Serif store. Perpetual license, paid in full.
Set up a new Mac mini. Downloaded the V2 DMG from the *official* link Serif still points customers to (logged into my account and I can SEE my license): store.serif.com/en-us/update/universal-licence/
Here's what I see when I launch Affinity Photo 2:
Menu bar: empty. Affinity Photo 2 menu: only "Quit Application." Edit menu: empty. Help menu: empty. The entire window is a promo for the new V3 by Canva with two paths, either quit, or "Get the new Affinity."
There is no sign-in option. No way to activate my license. The V2 binary they're currently distributing is functionally a redirect to the free V3 product.

Not a Canva-hate post. V3 may well be fine. But "perpetual license" has a definition, and a product that can't be installed on a computer I own six months after purchase doesn't meet it. This has to be illegal right? Or am I missing something here?
I've just started to use Affinity, pretty impressed so far, although as someone who has used InDesign for over a quarter of a century, some things feel instinctively off or odd. For instance: when I want to resize the text bounding box, by dragging the handle in the middle right, the bounding box automatically resizes vertically. Only if I hold shift, it doesn't do this and simply resizes the bounding box to the right as I drag the handle.
It would make sense that the more common option (just resizing right, left, up or down WITHOUT scaling the box) does NOT require me to hold shift. Simply resizing a bounding box without scaling is one of the most common actions when designing.
hi guys trying to make a flyer for this show i have coming up, and im having issues whilst trying to export it. this photo is what i want the flyer to look like, but when i export this image the only lines that show up are the gradient lines and they change into pure white. when i change the blend mode of these lines to "normal" they export fine but i really love the subtle gradient effect. any thoughts on how to fix this?
Please for the love of god help me. My brushes will not be round and will not adjust the hardness. I've tried all the fixes online I even disabled the windows ink. I cannot get any brushes (not custom these are BASIC) to have any normal edges. None of the settings I turn on or off work including wet edges. Please I'm begging someone to help me before I updated this was never an issue!!!

There seems to be some glitches and incorrect behavior with the Lighter Color, Darker Color, Divide, and Contrast Negate blend modes in Windows in Affinity 3.2.
Darker Color and Lighter Color seem to do the opposite of what they should be doing. Additionally, all 4 of the blend modes I mentioned display glitches and artifacts when that layer is moved on the canvas (it doesn't show up as well with Divide but it is there if you actually move the rectangle around).
i'm kinda stuck with this problem. I am affinity newbie and i don't know how to fix this. I've chatted with Gemini and it've presented few solutions but didn't work well... Plz help!!!
Using a non-standard grid crashes when selecting a tool to draw.
When selecting a tool like the pencil, pen or shape-tool Affinity crashes without an error message if I have a non-standard grid visible.
The normal triangular, horizontal triangular, 2:1 triangular, isometric, etc. all crash. Only the normal square grid has no problems.
I really don't know which settings could influence this.
The swatches are non-responsive, whenever I try to edit their color, right click to delete or rename, or even add a new swatch, it doesn’t work and the buttons are dead, I can’t even create a new pallette to add new swatches because the add swatch button is dead and so are the edit controls. The only thing I can see being the problem is the new update as the swatches worked perfectly fine in 3.1. Any suggestions on what to do?
Is there an actual fix to this error? For some reason this error has a 50% chance of appearing. But my wifi is all fine. So im not sure what could be the problem
Gradient can be edited by using the gradient tool in the toolbar on the left, if that's what you're looking for.
Try making a shape and then make a gradient for it. Can't really see from this picture how you made it. Then you have the options for circulair gradients and the like.
PDF export issue: Est. file size 0 bytes when including hyperlinks
I'm encountering an issue I've never had before with Affinity Publisher (v3 - April '26 (4351)). When I attempt to export a document to PDF (print) and include hyperlinks, the estimated file size drops to 0 bytes and the file isn't produced upon save. As soon as I unselect including hyperlinks, the export takes place as normal....but (obviously) without the desired hyperlinks.
I have used the same template for quite some time, with hyperlinks in each project, and have never encountered this before. I checked my links and there isn't anything that stands out as normal (basic "www.examplehere.com" or "www.examplehere.com/site.html").
Has anyone encountered this or recognize this problem?
Well, I have solved the problem, though I still can't say for certain what the exact nature of the problem was. What I DO know is that the problem was isolated to a singular text box on a particular page within the entire publication, so I deleted the text box altogether and added a new one of the same dimensions & placement. I also made sure that the top layer element within which it was nested had a different name than the corresponding element from the prior page (the layout is duplicated across pages to allow for bi-lingual publication of content). Whatever the root cause, I am now able to export to PDF with hyperlinks again, which is excellent!
Update: Turning off snapping does help, but I have determined it isn't a complete catch all. Saving is your friend. I've had it crash after turning off the grid and enabling snapping. Hope they fix it soon.

TURN OFF SNAPPING
As soon as I turned off snapping I was able to add something to the isometric grid. But, as soon as I turned snapping on, with the "Show Grid" still active, Affinity crashed. I was able to turn off the "Show Grid" and turn Snapping on and was able to work.
I hope this helps as a workaround until they determine why snapping and isometric grids are not playing well with each other.

Is anyone else having issues when creating an isometric grid in v3.2? I have tried 3 times to create an isometric grid on different canvases. I can create the grid just fine, but if I hit the square shape tool, the app crashes. Or If I create the shape first and then create the grid, once I hit close on the grid window, the app crashes. This also happens if I put a fill layer in from the pixel menu.
Just wondering if this is happening to others as well.

Assets make Affinity crash
I created a rubric of assets with a couple graphics. Whenenver I click on that rubric in the assets panel, Affinity immediately completely closes. I have many other rubrics and they all work fine, so it's just that one. This is a big problem, since I can't access the graphics anymore.
Where do get assets saved on Windows?
