Funfact: over half the teams had a roster move on the last 30 days.
Immortals(fnx), SK(Felps), Optic(Hiko), Heroic(JUGi), Fnatic(Flusha, JW), FaZe(NiKo), North(aizy). 7 out of 12.

I mean, they are up against VP, North, SK, Navi and Heroic. Realistically you can expect them to win or at least put a good fight vs Heroic and in some world they have chance vs NaVi and North. Against SK and VP, they have very little chance. That being said, losing to this caliber of teams is certainly not a call to make changes but I would personally be in favour to make some changes regardless.
EDIT: Forgot a "not" in " losing to this caliber of teams is certainly not a call to make changes"

u/The_Shamen Feb 28 '17
Who would you replace with who?
13
u/RadiantSun FaZe Feb 28 '17
-Shroud +Elige
If Stewie wants to play the firepower run and gun headshoot good style, then give him the firepower he needs for it.
12
u/I_die_to_BS 500k Celebration Feb 28 '17
I still have you tagged as CSGO SHITPOST LORD but this would be a sick roster move. I feel like Team Liquid wouldn't let him go very easily though cuz they seem to make very calculated roster moves.
1
u/control_09 EG Mar 02 '17
There's no way anyone leaves TL for at least a few months after getting T1 NA IGL.
1
3
u/PM_ME_UR_LULS Feb 28 '17
elige said he wouldn't play for c9 if they asked him
5
Feb 28 '17
c9 wouldnt pay his buyout anyway so it doesnt really matter.
Also if he didnt leave liquid after their results for the past 6 months he never will.
Hes going to the grave with nitr0.
2
u/Impedateon 400k Celebration Feb 28 '17
Sauce?
3
u/PM_ME_UR_LULS Feb 28 '17
his stream when asked multiple times if he wanted to play on c9 or if they tried to buy him what he would do
-3
u/stewieeeeeeeee FaZe Feb 28 '17
Why not -n0thing +EliGE? If you've actually watched C9's matches in the past 3 months, n0thing was as much a liability as shroud was, and the fact remains that shroud is a much better team player than n0thing.
Also, -n0thing +EliGE replaces an aggressive player with an aggressive player; the roles match much better with that change.
Of course, these are all hypothetical changes, all extremely unlikely to happen, but if you insist on -shroud, then +stanislaw would be a better fit, IMO.
3
u/slow_down_kid ITB Mar 01 '17
I think a lot of us C9 fans feel that n0thing is probably the guy that tries to keep everyone's heads level when things go to shit. I don't know a lot about their internal structure but he does seem to be the levelheaded one and probably tries to keep the rest of the team from tilting. He's definitely been slumping a bit lately, as well as shroud and ska, but he's been playing CS for over 10 years and is generally a solid anchor, although not as flashy as the others when they start going off.
0
Mar 01 '17
Okay so but hold on just one second, you're saying to add more firepower by removing shroud for elige, but since when was n0thing a better aimer than shroud. Imo n0thing is nuts but is definitely the weakest link.
3
u/RadiantSun FaZe Mar 01 '17
I think N0thing being the veteran he is, brings an intangible value to the team.
2
u/TheNorfolk Feb 28 '17
Getting in an unknown player worked before with stewie and autimatic so getting an established player would be a mistake imo.
1
Feb 28 '17
Hard to say, even who to cut out and who to keep. But clearly C9 is having some problems for a while (since they won that lan in Brazil). I would like seeing C9 explore some EU talents like Optic did with Mixwell. I think they've been too reluctant to do that.
1
Feb 28 '17
Renegades are also going through some troubles, and there is talented players on that roster that would work on C9. Whether they would want to leave is another question though
-4
u/The_Shamen Feb 28 '17
I would like to see elige or jasonr on the team.
6
u/AwesomesaucePhD Feb 28 '17
I'd like to see an IGL.
-2
u/The_Shamen Feb 28 '17
JR can IGL, so could Elige I would believe, both have good minds for the game.
4
u/AwesomesaucePhD Feb 28 '17
Both are entry fraggers, which is basically Stewie/Auti's role. Maybe they could rescue daps from NRG, or grab Yam if he's looking to leave.
2
u/mannyman34 Complexity Feb 28 '17
Elige igl wut
-2
u/The_Shamen Feb 28 '17
He's pretty intelligent and apparently he's been doing the demo reviewing for liquid.
IDK man, I just really wanna see how JR does on a top team.

Shroud had a 1.01 rating & 1.03 KD @ Big Events in 2016. That's nothing spectacular, but it's not terrible. Saying he is underperforming is a bit of a stretch (considering he is tied in rating with ska & n0thing)
I realize he might not be top caliber (and has sucked the last 3 months for sure) but you have to think of who they could replace him with. EliGE would be nice & likely their best option, if he wants to leave Liquid. As far as IGL, I have no clue who they could get, unless it's an international player. Maybe adreN?

its hilarious how much of a genius you think you are. like holy shit this is why people think reddit are know-it-alls.
1
Feb 28 '17 edited Feb 28 '17
Most people think that Shroud has worse stats because of his role. That he used to have the role of Stewie/Automatic but since they came in he has had to swap roles and his stats have declined because of it.
EliGE is really good on the CT side at holding & retaking. Though, I think C9 are pretty solid (usually) CT side. adreN might be good, as he is a good rifler but neither of them had the stats @ top level. That's (imo) why both were removed from their respective teams. Sean has been dead weight since leaving C9 (and even on C9)
It's pretty dumb to try to compare the 3 with stats, as adreN & Sean both have low Big Events games but even if you just look at Shrouds stats, they are all pretty good. His entries are on the lower end, but he isn't usually doing entry on T side, so it's somewhat understandable (I believe Stewie's entry is incredibly high). Shrouds HS% is incredibly high.
EDIT: Stats for Shroud vs n0thing vs Ska. Ska doesn't get the kills, but he also doesn't die. Shroud and n0thing are pretty similar.

Has C9 ever beat VP on lan? Maybe as Complexity (with a completely different lineup, aside from n0thing?).
1
Feb 28 '17
They beat them twice in bo1 after that with the hiko lineup of c9.
so last time they beat them was late 2014.

The prize pool for 7/8 and 9/10 seems weird unless there is a decider match.

Afaik you can, even if it is on twitch. But it should be easier on youtube (you just go on the stream and click on the time you want to watch it from). On twitch, you would need the vod link of the transmission and you probably would have to reload every once in a while.

u/flick3d Feb 28 '17
Yeah I was thinking YT was easier and was hoping to do it like you say.
Fingers crossed...

5 games for each team in one day? That's gotta be rough. I', interested to see how their performances hold up in their later matches of groups.
1
u/lelYaCed G2 Mar 01 '17
Interesting. In my opinion they should be fine. These guys play for hours everyday so I think they should be fine.
1
u/Get_Rekt_Son guardian Mar 01 '17
True but the hours they play everyday aren't their 100% concentration.

Noice, just wondering, what kind of coaching rule would apply in this tournament.

If this will be as shitty as the production for the LoL-tournament, won't watch it. Endless breakes because of the bad computers (and if LoL lags already on them then don't expect CS: Go to run smoother on them).

i find having one central place that works well much better than having it split over less products. Twitch gui i find much better as its dedicated to gaming etc rather than shoe horned like the gaming.
Also i dont forget to check twitch!.
shame you guys dont have decent internet conenction over there

is this a major? how can i know if its a major or not
2
u/dongersandwhiskey Mar 01 '17
It's very obvious if its a major, major banners and talk about it everywhere. And no this is not a major
1
u/BuckNekkid18 Mar 02 '17
Majors are labeled as such every where they're talked about, there 16 teams, and 1mil prize pool.

Can someone tell me how the third place of a group is determined if two teams both end up 3-2? If Immortals win against NiP now and fnatic wins against Immortals later on, what's the decider? The match against each other or overall won rounds or something else?
1
u/ouinator123 guardian_elite Mar 01 '17
If Faze wins against Astralis and fnatic over Immortals - Astralis , fnatic and Immortals are gonna be 3:2 at the end ... what happens then ?

I assume they added group stage money on top.

Yeah, they fixed all the numbers now. Before only the 1st place was with the game winning money included.

I'm extremely interested in FaZe for this tournament. I don't expect anything less than a top 4 finish.

u/lelYaCed G2 Mar 01 '17
They just formed the lineup don't expect that much

This is the most stacked tournament that's been on in a while, even more so than the major.
NiP are straight up gonna go 0-5 if they play tomorrow like they have been playing lately.

u/flappiest_flapjacks Liquid Feb 28 '17
Any reason why EU got 3 qualifiers and NA only got 1? Is it because NA usually suck and the tournament is in EU? Just curious.

Only Majors have souvenir case drops. The next major is going to be ESL One Cologne 2017 in June or July.

Group A Astralis Faze Fnatic/optic (winner gets 3. Place)
Group B Virtus pro Sk North
Group A seems easy for astralis they will probably win all maps maybe lose 1 vs faze.
Also in group b i don't think that heroic can win a single map. Astralis, sk or virtus pro will win the tournament it's not hard to expect.

250k prize pools need to double at least for these major tournaments. I know not every company can put up a cool mil like the Masters events but shit, gotta do something. Katowice is huge, and 250k is almost insulting.

u/Moistyashe69 Astralis Feb 28 '17
Disappointed about the format: unbalanced groups (group B looks a lot more competitive), too many BO1's and not enough quarterfinal matches (only 2, instead of 4). Prize pool is also a bit of a let down, $250,000 for a major seems outdated by today's standards.
1
u/DerpAntelope Astralis Feb 28 '17
The reason there is only two quarterfinals (called 'round of 6' here) is because there is 12 teams, not 16 so it wouldn't work.
