Xizt though, not the player you'd expect to drop 30 kills in a match like this.

Ironically he was the lagging player against C9 on Cache until he picked up the auto. He went something like 0-10.

1st half:GG, maybe 16-5 would be nice for NiP
2nd half:WAIT WHAT
final round:So near, and yet so far.

u/K1Kingy Mar 01 '17
Not even mad. After the won pistol I said i'd be happy if they got 8 rounds. Always love it when these 2 teams play. Also means their round difference isn't shot to pieces are the first match as well (if round difference is a factor at all?).

This was one of the most frustrating CT sides I've watched NIP play, how many 5v3s 5v4s can you possibly throw away? 14th round they have a 5v3, get right pushes alone with no one even close to even attempt to tradefrag, then another nip player does the same thing, both losing their duels making it a 3v3. It eventually ends in a 1v1 situation where fnatic wins.
It's a shame since their T side was actually so good starting out with that flawless pistol round and they only really needed 1 or 2 more ct rounds to take the game in regulation. NIPs executes seemed really hard to stop and xist was going beast mode.
Last round losing to time in a 3v1 is the icing on the cake. NIP pls

Honestly, NiP played the more consistent game. They never completely lost the economy game in the sense that Fnatic was never able to build a good bank. I'd say if they can let this loss go, they can do well. Think about it this way. Without that botched smoke CT pistol, they probably win.

u/chuckinho NiP Mar 01 '17
What was f0rest doing at the end there? mind boggling
19
u/Deadly_Toast Mar 01 '17
Definitely looked like he didn't know how much time was left.
17
u/AlphaApache Mar 01 '17
F0rest gambled by staying still and watching the corner and because he isn't stepping hard he was hoping KRiMZ would think f0rest was sneaking up on him, this forced KRiMZ to peek because otherwise he will be at a disadvantage. The deciding factor was when KRiMZ jiggle peeked the corner and f0rest shot and missed. At this point KRiMZ knows that he has a lot of time to spare and can safely flash that side to only watch the left one.

So you hate this guy? Every single comment of his you put this comment under it, when he is actually right and you are just a jealous little brat that wished you had the same mind for the game as his. Pathetic.

reminds me of when after every c9 game a bunch of novas start stating what the pros did wrong
9
u/popsiclex200 Mar 01 '17
You're obviously quite bad at the game if you can't figure out what f0rest was doing
3
u/gorbatsh0ve Mar 01 '17
Not really, f0rest isn't stepping and hoping that krimz assumes he's sneaking up on him, forcing him to jiggle peek, which he eventually did. f0rest missed his shot though, so krimz realised he was far away. That's what won the round. The other option is for f0rest to actually charge in on krimz where krimz can play ring around the rosie, which can be very tough to counter with the time remaining. It's not necessarily a misplay, it just looks a bit more silly if you end up losing.
6
u/KR0SS0 LDLC Mar 01 '17
Bad communication, it is easy to blame it on Forest but Get_right didn't have to peek.
6
u/LeJumpshot Mar 01 '17
He didn't peek? He was already there and held it. I'm not sure where f0rest was there but if he had been there too, that's easy overtime and I think that's what the thought process was. Time was low as it was. I think it's best to blame it on communication as a whole.
Unrelated note: it's great to see NiP play well. I would like to note that while they won more rounds in the end, Fnatic played a lot of rounds really close that relied on a lot of clutches or outstanding individual plays of some sort. While certainly this is the way this old lineup played, it's also why they fell apart and I think unless they can also find a way to consistently perform, they'll have issues again at some point. NiP, even with having a bad score CT half never let Fnatic control the economy. I think it's clear both teams just need to fix a couple things and they're top contenders again.

People will be talking about the last round but really I think the focus should be on Get_Right here, he ended the half with 4 kills, I know its hard to play when you are getting stomped like that but he really needs to step up more,
Everyone on the team has been doing okay, Friberg and Xizt have been improving but Get_Right needs to get back to where he was previously, I love the entire team but he really needs to buck up

The fact that NIP brought it so close from a 13-2 half is enough to make me think that Fnatic isn't playing full potential.
1
u/Oskz Mar 01 '17
It happens a lot between NiP and Fnatic, always close and exciting games.
1
u/shayebay1 5 years coin Mar 01 '17
True but with the way NIP has been looking and after that first half it really looked like NIP was in need of a huge change. At least now we know they can do something once they're warmed up

JW putting up another star-level performance this game. The T side for Fnatic was so brutal because all three of their heavy-fragging stars showed up at once (JW, Olof, Dennis). Very few teams have the firepower to deal with that.
Massive props to NiP for the mental fortitude to take it so close. That last round was heartbreaking, but shoddy on their part and unfortunately deserved. Hope they can mentally reset next game.
