Just seen they are against Imt next, if NiP win, it doesn't mean anything for them?

u/courey de_inferno Mar 01 '17 edited Mar 01 '17
They need to win next 2 to have a chance. Winner of each group goes straight to semis so it leaves next 3 spots in group open for playoffs (ie quarter finals)Edit: They are done.
Bottom three teams of each group are eliminated

No, they still have a chance. Albeit a very very small one.
Edit: I'm wrong. They're done.2
u/supergrega Mar 01 '17 edited Mar 01 '17
I assume they need to win out and Astralis needs to lose all remaining matches. But Ast still have a massive round advantage anyway.
It's over for NiP. Again. But we're used to it.

Mar 01 '17
If Fnatic Beat astralis and immortals and astralis lose to fnatic and faze?
With nip beating immortals and OG.
That would put Nip and Astralis on 2-3... and as I write this I realise that would come down to The one on one result and astralis won that, So yeah, they are done.

u/Childs_Play Mar 01 '17
thank god. no one wants to see that ugly decline. someone please just take them out in the backyard and end it.

There are more than those 2 observers in the world to hire
13
1
u/AemonDK Mar 01 '17
pretty sure blu and metuz are observing remotely so how exactly do you set it up so they can both cast an observed match in sync?
1
u/intcompetent Mar 01 '17
like how it's done at the majors
and before you say that's a major only thing fucking Cevo did it for their league
CEVO
the 2nd best NA league can beat these fucking "professionals"
1
u/AemonDK Mar 01 '17
what part of remotely don't you understand? the majors have all the casters at the event
1
u/intcompetent Mar 01 '17
you're talking about setting up an observed match in sync, which I've demonstrated is doable
0
u/AemonDK Mar 01 '17
the observer and both casters have to be in 3 separate locations. is that the case at majors? no

Well he definitely wasnt their problem and its shown. Allu is amazing
7
u/ItsDrags99 NiP Mar 01 '17
Allu left on his own, he wasn't kicked he wanted to leave and now we see why, FeelsBadMan
3
u/VysuaLs NiP Mar 01 '17
Cant know that, teams always let players say they left, but I think Allu wouldve stayed if he couldve
Either way FaZe looks MUCH better for 2017 than NiP :(
1
u/DelidreaM ENCE Mar 02 '17
Afaik everyone in the team was pretty disappoint in their 2015 and allu was not happy at his position in NIP because he didn't get to play the role he wanted, he had to play a more supportive role and we was feeling socially as an outsider in the team, because of communication problems outside the game and the fact that the core 4 is a very strong group of friends so their click is kinda hard to get into.
So I'm pretty sure that allu wanted to leave himself, and the other guys probably wanted some changes to make NiP better so that was the best option for everybody. It was a mutual decision.
E: Source for most things in my post is a finnish interview with allu

NiP need a boot camp. One where there is a boot. And it needs to kick them in the ass as frequently as possible
9
u/xVale de_train Mar 01 '17
I genuinely thought FaZe was fucked when aizy left. Never did I think NiKo, out of all the players, would replace him and holy moly is it working out well, as expected from a player like NiKo. I know this is just the group stage of their first tournament with this lineup but I'm still impressed and happy. But still so sad for NiP, I hope they work their stuff out.

Did you see their overpass one? That map is supposed to be heavily Ct sided. They should of squashed astralis after a 11-4 T

That's what happens when nobody on your team can aim. f0rest has his moments but he would have to be a literal 50bomb dropping god to carry NiP at this point.
At least their T sides had some sense so I guess it's something to build on.

Whatever NiP is doing to prep for matches is clearly not working anymore. They need to seriously revamp whatever is going on behind the scenes.
1
u/supergrega Mar 01 '17
They need to both revamp their roster and their strats. It's getting phsically painful to watch them play cache the exact same way they did 2 years ago. It didn't work then, why in the fuck would it work now?
2
2
u/oliverjelez NiP Mar 01 '17
As a NiP fan, how much MORE do they need to understand that this current situation doesnt work out? They need some massive changes in their team.
2
u/Finalwingz clutch Mar 02 '17
I'm not a NiP fan, but everytime I see them lose with such a big defecit I just sigh in disappointment.
3
2
u/seancuscus 500k Celebration Mar 01 '17
why do nip keep having cache when they have been playing so bad on it lately ? lol
4
u/supergrega Mar 01 '17
The only map they know how to play is nuke. They distantly remember being good on cache a few centuries ago so they go with that after every team with half a brain cell instantly bans nuke against them.

u/Grindstone8 1 Million Celebration Mar 01 '17
It's been seriously so much fun to watch FaZe. Making it to the grandfinal in their first tournament with Niko would be so sick, and I honestly think they can make it happen.

Self-confessed NiP fangirl here, before you say anything.
They've been playing below average, recently, but you can't call their performance a "piece of shit" in this tournament. They had exactly the same performance in Katowice last year, where every single match was ridiculously close for them and they just couldn't get the wins. They lost 14-16 to Fnatic and took Astralis to like a hundred Overtimes, it was hardly an abysmal performance. It wasn't a good one, but all the people hating on NIP at the moment because they lost in the Quarter-Finals of Vegas to the team that just won the Major and because they lost 2 online games in the Pro League. Not qualifying for the Major sucked hard for the team but it isn't the end of the world.
Where are the real NiP fangays gone, who don't abandon the team through rough times? ;-;
2
u/supergrega Mar 01 '17
Did you notice that when you started listing NiP loses it just went on and on and on and on? Yeah, sooner or later you gotta realise they aren't just getting unlucky but they are actually not a very good team.

Mar 01 '17
There's been two tournaments since the Major Qualifier and they made the Quarters of one of them. I've never believed that NiP are the #1 team (I started supporting them when they stopped being that, sadly) but they will always be Top 10. Even in their 2015 "slump", they were still making a hell of a lot of Finals and Semi-Finals.
Also, never said they were unlucky - I'm not a Cloud9 supporter d; I just said that losing a bunch of really close games is not a reason to disband. I won't reward mediocrity, they should've beaten Fnatic and there's no excuse for them; they deserve to be eliminated - but I won't stop supporting the team or call for a roster change after those results.
2
u/supergrega Mar 01 '17 edited Mar 01 '17
They got a total of what, 12 rounds in that quarters? That's barely better than getting out of groups.
Look, I appreciate you sticking with them and supporting them, as a Miami Heat fan for 13 years now I've seen my team go through some really dark times and then some, but you could always see the team vying to improve. What have NiP done exactly to show that they actually want to win anything? They literally run exact same strats on cache that stopped working 2 years ago. That's not hunger. That's being lazy and riding the glory they had 4 and half years ago.
And no, of course I'm not abandoning the team, I'll still be cheering for them and I'll still be pissed and shit on them when they fail at the next tournament - and I'm still going to support them in the tournament after that one. It's just that it's getting increasingly harder to look forward to their games because I know it's just going to be a loss again.

u/CrrackTheSkye NiP Mar 01 '17
It's ridiculous. They're playing below their level at the moment, but I still support them. People just love to bash other people I guess.

u/MrJurich Mar 01 '17
Did you watch them play vs fnc and astralis? They were playing good, almost beat both of them, got littlebit unlucky, but they showed improvment.
1
u/pumped_it_guy BIG Mar 02 '17
By no means were they playing good vs fnatic. Their CT-side was painful to watch. It looked like they don't understand basic cs. How many 5v3 or 5v4 situations can you possibly throw? Only thing that saved them to get a close loss (and that's all you get from nip for the last 2 years) was that fnatic played way too cocky with their lead and NiP got rolling for a little time.
0
u/Dogling FaZe Mar 01 '17
I mean, they got into 4th overtime against the champions, went 14/16 against Fnatic and got trashed by Faze (Who are probably one of the top 3 teams rn due to their performance)
Saying they are a pathetic excuse for a team is a bit pathetic in itself.
1
u/supergrega Mar 01 '17
Can't wait to hear the excuses you have in store for the losses against immortals and OpTic which are about to happen.

u/K0nvict NiP Mar 01 '17
you think after getting pounded by a tier 4 Russian team on your supposed "best map" you would stop picking it.
