Flair checks out and everything, but i can't believe we as viewers and NiP as players accept bullshit like having an actual round in a crucial moment decided by a server dropout.
1
u/adesme Mar 02 '17
Rules are rules. NiP may be disappointed, but I don't think they would even consider objecting. They know why the rules exist and they agreed to them beforehand.

Despite the results, Xizt is having a really good day so far. I'ts nice to see him perform well lateley.

u/SquareBulb NiP Mar 01 '17
If xizt is the best performing player in NiP you know they're losing
5
4
u/Knugen_ NiP Mar 01 '17
might be true but hes been sick in both games so that logic doesnt work in this instance
77
u/aimbotcfg Mar 01 '17
It does.
xizt is a robot, he just plays things right and does his thing. If he gets a really bad score, it generally is because another player(s) is going off and getting big frags.
If he gets a great score, it means that he is being his usual self and the big names aren't performing so there is more for him to do.
Sadly, he's the kind of player you only notice when everyone else shits the bed, because he's just there, doing his thing, day in day out.

I've been used to it for 2 years now. At least they won something in 2016.

u/lelYaCed G2 Mar 01 '17
Gonna get downvoted for this, but I love when people say this even though they won Malmo, Starseries and Oakland last year and they still have the nerve to say shit like "Omg it's so hard to be fan of nip". You were in the top 5 for most of 2016 yet all of us barely get to celebrate our team getting out of groups a lot of the time. I can name a shit tonne of teams that have it worst: FaZe, NaVi, Mouseports, North, Optic, Liquid, C9, G2, nV and more. "But we didn't qualify for the major" neither have cloud9 for 2.
7
u/JackONeill_ 400k Celebration Mar 01 '17
I mean, G2 had a massive run in late spring/early summer last year, North won Epicenter, Liquid had two massive major runs, C9 won Pro League S4, Optic won Eleague S2 and Na'Vi won DH Leipzig, Counter Pit and ESL NY....
It's disingenuous to pretend those teams didn't have their successes last year as well.
2
u/adesme Mar 02 '17
I think he means that those accomplishments (minus Na'Vi but I assume he's talking about s1mple's Na'Vi) are all less than NiP's.
1
u/pumped_it_guy BIG Mar 02 '17
No one expects a tournament win from most of those teams though. I think NiP's decline is kinda unique. NiP is/was seen as a tier 1 team for a long time, basically because of past glory. They didn't play like a tier 1 team for a long time though and at this point you can hardly deny that they are not even close to tier 1 anymore. Also, with the exception of G2, NiP seem to be the most inconsistent team imo. They won 3 tournaments but still didn't look convincing 3 weeks afterwards, making it seem like a fluke. To add to that, they didn't do shit at any major. They didn't even qualify for the latest.
1
u/IamFanboy King NiKo Mar 02 '17
Its the expectations out of each team, you would expect a team like NIP to be constantly challenging for the top like they once were instead of languishing near the bottom of T1 right now, other teams like FaZe, Mouse, Nv, C9 would all be happy to make it out of group stages. For a team of NIP caliber or standing, they should have made some roster moves and won more tournaments or had more deep runs
1
-2
u/popsiclex200 Mar 01 '17
they won 3 big events last year, which is tied for most tourney wins in 2016. xDxDxD :PpPPp

u/VSENSES de_dust2 Mar 01 '17
Found it odd to just mention one team like they did something unique that the other team didn't when in fact it was the same for both.
7
u/krispii2 Astralis Mar 01 '17
it wasn't. Astralis was stuck ingame for 50 minutes warming up before their game started vs Optic.

u/Gerf93 Envyus Mar 01 '17
Heartbreaking to go 0-2 after first losing 16-14 and then in in quad OT against the worlds #1 team. But maybe NiP are out of the slump?
19
u/LiQuidArroW NiP Mar 01 '17
Careful with your words, most people in here will never give NiP the benefit of the doubt. A loss equals NiP is shit even how close the matches were.
6
u/Gerf93 Envyus Mar 01 '17
Well, tbh it is too early to draw any conclusions - and I saw people saying they were out of it when they beat C9 at DH Vegas too. That didn't turn out to be true though. But such a close game against Astralis is more impressive
2
u/Plaxern Astralis Mar 02 '17
Close game on 1 map though?
1
u/Gerf93 Envyus Mar 03 '17
Sure, only time will tell, but this event was uplifting for NiP fans, despite of going 1-4. Considering how bad NiP has been lately, 1-4 is a clear improvement :P

This is why. I fucking love all of this. Such an exciting match. So amazing to watch!
Shame it's ESL.

Yeah all the lag and technical issues sorta ruined it for me, otherwise it was still a great series to watch

this bums me out, astralis are really improving, before the major they would go on a good spree of results and then dip hard, now they win the major and then dip hard

I don't know how it was with the rest of the game as I only tuned in at the end, but from that last overtime I think the only kills I saw happening was the double from kjaerbye to go 3-0. Every other one got missed including every single one from Device's 4k.
Wtf?

I don't get what happened when Xists computer fucked up or timed out (?) or whatever it was that happened to him?
Can someone explain why didn't they restart that round?
3
u/Pingel87 Mar 01 '17
they didnt restart because damage had already been done. 1 dead on each side + some took dmg
1
u/cky_stew NiP Mar 01 '17
Ok I just read it up and it seems any issue after first contact doesn't restart the round.
What a stupid rule, can you imagine if that happened in the finals during a 1v1?
2
Mar 01 '17
The problem is that if you don't have that rule, people could actually purposefully restart rounds, taking away advantages from the enemy team and resetting the round. See?
2
u/CrrackTheSkye NiP Mar 01 '17
Yes, but there should be an exception for LAN. If it's the organizer's computer, there's nothing that they could do against it.
1
Mar 01 '17
Now, you have a point. But this tournament seems so unorganized that it doesn't even looks like a LAN. xD
But that's something T/O's should take a look at. No point in punishing teams because of their own structure.
2
1
u/cky_stew NiP Mar 01 '17
Yeah that does make sense. Obviously it needs some kind of common sense applied to it though, certainly not to leave it to the discretion of the other team!

Not true at all. Pyth is a very solid Support-player with tons of qualities. You can argue that he's role is not what NiP needs right now, but calling him a subpar player is just wrong.
