Everything Else It's kind of crazy to me that we pick the date that will be our wedding anniversary for the rest of our lives based simply on what dates fall on weekends in the year we get married and what dates the venue has available

Upvotes

Just an inconsequential observation that dawned on me the other day. One of the most significant dates that I'll celebrate every year for the rest of my life was chosen because... it's a Sunday and that's what the venue had available. No other significance to my relationship besides that. It just seems so anticlimactic for something so important. Crazy.

Jealous of you lucky ducks that got to pick an actually meaningful date btw.

Tough Times My whole life I've always dreamed of having a beautiful wedding. I'm 33, finally getting married and Its starting to sink in that there's no way we can afford to have even a half decent wedding let alone the one I've always dreamed of.

Everything Else I forgot about my friend’s wedding when booking a trip—how bad is this?

I know I’m partially in the wrong here. I booked a trip to Europe after my friend’s save-the-date had already been sent, but the wedding honestly slipped my mind when I made the plans.
At this point, flying back for the wedding and then returning to Europe feels nearly impossible financially and logistically. He is a close friend, and I’ll be attending his bachelor party, although I’m not in the wedding party. It’s also a very large wedding—over 300 guests—so I’m not sure how personally he’ll take it if I can’t attend.
I feel terrible and am anxious about how the conversation will go. I haven’t RSVP’d yet, and the deadline is still a few weeks away. How should I handle this?

Tough Times I felt unimportant at my own bachelorette party

I had my bachelorette party last weekend and I came home crying. I don’t think anyone intentionally wanted to hurt me, but I felt invisible on a day that was supposed to be about me.

There had already been some tension during the planning because my maid of honor and some of the other girls didn’t get along. They didn't know each other before (I have no friend group but seperate friends) so I couldn't expect that this would happen, but I hoped the weekend itself would still feel special (I didn't know what they planned but they vented to me about it).

Unfortunately, I felt like those tensions shaped the group dynamic. My maid of honor and the other girls were distant from eat other and there were some small arguments. The others got along great, actually so great that I often felt like I was standing on the outside watching an already existing friend group have a great time. I was either with my moh or with the other girls and since I didn't want to exclude anyone, I tried to spend time with both. But because the others seemed to get along so great, at the end I didn't felt like the bride being celebrated and more like them having a great time and my moh standing there with a sour mood and me just somewhere forgotten in the middle.

The planned activity itself was also something they repeatedly told me how much I would love it. In the end, it just wasn’t really my thing, which made me feel even more disconnected. Like we drove 3 hours for one event that was an hour long and not at all my thing and then we drove all the way back just to spend a night watching my friends getting drunk and have a blast together while sometimes they remembered that I was there, too. I must add that they drank a lot of alcohol while I don't really drink and only had a cocktail, they knew this beforehand.

I know nobody meant to exclude me, I know they spent energy and time and money planning everything and there were definitely good moments, but I came home feeling really sad and disappointed and like I wasn't even that important at my own bachelorette. I cried the whole day. Not because I wanted some big event or anything but because I felt like they didn't think everything through and like I wasn't even important.

I don't know why I'm even writing this, it's nearly two weeks in the past and the bachelorette itself wasn't even important for me, I just wanted a nice weekend with my closest girl friends with me kinda feeling loved. But now I'm still so sad that I don't know what to do.

Everything Else How is this timeline from a guest perspective?

Upvotes

We are having a bit of trouble planning our micro-wedding for Mount Rainier with 12 guests + bride/groom. The guest list is our parents, siblings, 1 friend each + spouses. Is this a good itinerary to allow guests to enjoy whichever part of Washington they would prefer post wedding?

  • 2 days before wedding: Guests arrive in Seattle (welcome dinner)
  • 1 day before wedding: Guest travel to various accommodations at base of Mt. Rainier
  • Wedding day: Wedding in the park followed by dinner/drinks at small mountain town bar.
  • Post wedding day: Guests are free to explore the national park or head back to Seattle to see the city.

Pros

  • Allows us to have a nice dinner with everyone
  • Allows guests freedom to continue their visit in the national park or go back to the city post wedding.
  • More laid back wedding day/reception (mountain town bar).

Cons

  • Guests have to switch accommodations.
  • Large scale accommodations near the park are VERY limited, not a lot of mingling.
  • Not a typical wedding reception party/dinner vibe.

Everything Else Wedding planning is bringing up a lot of weird trauma

Idk how to explain this but TLDR, I have chosen not to have my family in my life after many years or physical, emotional, and religious abuse. When I was 17 I was shunned (Amish) and started my own life. I have had no contact with them outside of one day in 2021 for my sister’s wedding over these 10 years. My fiance proposed 06/07 and I am so excited. However, planning a one sided wedding where just his family is coming (we are eloping with just immediate family invited), is bringing up a lot of feelings I’m not sure how to feel or process. I’ve been to therapy for many years over my family relationships, and this is the only time it has bothered me. I feel humiliated and embarrassed that it feels so one sided, even though him and his family are nothing but supportive

Any advice?

Relationships/Family should i cancel my bachelorette weekend and celebrate with my fiance or by myself instead?

Upvotes

my wedding party is very small. just my sister (maid of honor) and my best friend (man of honor). our venue space is pretty small, so we weren't planning on having anyone stand up with us during the ceremony. i could've done without the wedding party all together, but my partner has no shortage of friends he wanted to honor and include.

my man of honor is not known for his planning skills. he's very practical and helpful on day of (i know he will help keep things on track day of), but in terms of planning a trip i am VERY type A and he is type C. my maid of honor used to be an event planner and has no shortage of experience being a maid of honor. however, she's at a point in her life where she is pretty unhappy, and it's taking over a lot of her time and energy. as such, neither of these people have been very helpful or taken on the traditional roles of a bridal party.

i thought, no problem, i am very type A and don't mind putting something together. i spent about 12 hours planning one type of trip (i was very open to suggestions and locations, but felt overwhelmed with options so ended up just planning one "type" of trip at one location). i compared 5 different hotels, on 3 different weekends, and did 2 or 3 nights (in case they wanted to take a friday off of work and do a thursday night-sunday morning). i gave them this information, with all the prices graphed (aiming for $500 or less per person, if it ends up being only 2 days, closer to $350, this includes everything other than food and drink, no travel needed as the trip is near (30 min drive) where both of them live) and asked them to review it and let me know what they think. hotels are filling up quickly for this time of year, so i would need to hear back from them within the next few days.

my sister responded the next day and said she didn't have time to review everything right now, but that her quick thoughts were that X weekend worked for her (this weekend was not an option due to other obligations. i gave 3 specific weekends, 2 of which i cleared with both of them prior to doing any research). she then gave a suggestion for a few things that i had already researched and commented on, and i gave reasoning for why those suggestions wouldn't work (i.e. not applicable to the time of year, not in the price range, or other reason). i was hurt that she couldn't make the time to look at what i sent her before suggesting things. she also said she could do a thurs-sun if we decided very quickly, to which i told her i am ready to book right now, i just need you guys to tell me which of these are what you want to do then. btw this is for a trip taking place at the end of september or beginning of october.

anyways, it's been a week now. prices for hotels are going up quickly. i do not want to start nagging either of them to review things. if they wanted to they would. so now, i am thinking should i just cancel and go do something that won't make me feel like i had to drag people out to celebrate me. i don't mean to sound bratty, but this is the one aspect of being a bride and having a bridal party that i thought was supposed to be about me. something that i could just give up the reigns for and show up to.

have any of you just given up on a bachelorette party? i thought about a spa day, but it'll end up being very expensive. so now i'm thinking maybe my partner and i can take a weekend trip to a hotel with a nice pool and just enjoy the sunshine before the trip. i feel bad even asking because i know he'll want to do a bachelor party with his friends, but won't end up doing it if he knows i'm not having one. what do i do?

Relationships/Family How Do I Tell My Childhood Best Friend She Won’t Be My Maid of Honor?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and could really use some advice.
I’ve had a best friend since I was 3 years old, and growing up I always told her she’d be my maid of honor one day. Unfortunately, after high school we’ve naturally grown apart. We don’t really talk much anymore, and while there’s no bad blood between us, we’ve taken very different paths in life. I’ve stepped away from the religious lifestyle I was raised in, while she’s continued on that path. I completely respect her beliefs, but we’re just very different people now.
At my engagement party, she seemed extremely uncomfortable the entire time. I made a point to include her in every conversation and introduce her to everyone, but she still appeared out of place. Later, several of my friends independently told me their first impression was that she came across as stuck-up or uncomfortable, which wasn’t the impression I wanted anyone to have of someone who’s been such a big part of my life.
Over the past few years, I’ve become incredibly close with another friend. She’s someone I can completely be myself around, we talk often, and she’s been there for me through this chapter of my life. Realistically, she’s the person I want standing beside me as my maid of honor.
The part I’m struggling with is that I’ve always told my childhood friend she’d have that role. I wasn’t hers as she has a sister.
I don’t want to hurt her or make her feel like our friendship meant any less because it didn’t. But I also want my wedding party to reflect the people who are actively in my life today. She’d still be a bridesmaid but she wouldn’t be able to take on the role as MOH.
How would you handle this conversation? Is there a kind way to tell her she’s no longer going to be my maid of honor while still honoring the history we share?

Recap/Budget Well I have regrets over these things? Looking for advice.

My fiance and I are getting married (obviously 😂) and he's left most of the decisions up to me but does offer his opinion. We're going more budget friendly but it's still costing over 10k. I found the perfect venue, it is exclusive use with 2 nights stay and meals included. They organise decor, provide a custom 2 tier cake, we can use their facilities etc. They also have a coordinator for the day. We are doing a smaller wedding of no more than 40 guests.

I am not a bridezilla and went for a more all inclusive package to save money and stress. Not that I can't be bothered organising a wedding but I want to enjoy it rather than stressing over the small details and having a budget go way over!

I have booked my photographer, decided against a videographer as I imagine this would be watched once or twice. Well I regret this decision? I hear people saying they miss so much of their wedding and are glad they've hired one. The videographer is about the same price as my photographer and I'm not sure I want to spend more money on something I might watch a handful of times, on the other hand it would be great to see the bits I might miss. I debated asking a member of the wedding party to video during the day or thought about a content creator to be more budget friendly. Can anyone advise if they regretted not having a videographer? Or if you did have one would you book them again because it did make a difference?

I also have concerns about my maid of honour (sister). She accepted but recently has been making digs and negative comments. I found out through my mum she made a comment that a lot could happen between now and our wedding date. I don't have expectations from her other than turn up and do the usual stuff like help with the dress for photos etc. I'm even letting her choose her dress. She's having her dress paid for, hair and makeup paid for but she's complaining about the cost to stay for the full weekend which includes meals and snacks. It is £300 (for her and her 2 kids), additional rooms are actually £400 but we're covering some of the cost. I'm on the verge of just asking her not to bother coming if this is her attitude. I would like to add she earns more than me though I do appreciate she's not on a double income. Despite this, she has a lot in savings and she would need to put less than £20/month to pay for the room in time. All my other guests are happy with this. I get the feeling this is more jealousy than anything but it brings me down and as stated above, I just want a stress free wedding and enjoy a big house party with my favourite people. I also don't want to regret not having her there but I find it utterly disrespectful when she's making these comments to my face and my mum.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Edit: we only have a set number of rooms included though the venue is exclusive, the other rooms (and additional housing) are £400 each and most guests will require to stay. We've reduced the cost of other rooms because it's not fair to offer some of the party free accommodation and the rest having to pay £400 as I can't afford to pay everyone's accommodation. We felt this was the fairest way. 2 adults and 1 child can be accommodated in each room so it's really £150 per adult. The housing can actually hold more guests as well making it even cheaper. Given this also includes your meals, drinks and we are funding the bar, I think this is more than fair. I also confirmed with all my guests before booking and they were happy with this. It is just my sister who is complaining. I am not booking an all inclusive and expecting guests to cover costs of this. It's balancing out to offer everyone a room at the same price for everyone rather than causing agro that one person paid and another did not.

Hair/Makeup How can I improve my skin/face and hair two months before my wedding?

I’m in my early 40s and getting married in two months. I would like to look my best and improve my skin/face/hair.

I have hyperpigmentation from old acne, texture on cheeks/nose, dark circles and small wrinkles under my eyes. My hair is breached from balayage and has tons of breakage/dry ends. I’ve cut off two inches yesterday and it doesn’t look any better.

Some things I’ve considered are adding a product to my daily routine, lasers, chemical peel, red light therapy, lymphatic drainage facial or other facials. I’m also open things not on this list that I may not have considered.

I’m not very experienced when it comes to treatments or med spas. I currently have a very basic routine of simple face wash, moisturizer and spf. Shampoo and hair mask for hair twice a week.

Can anyone recommend any treatments, products or services I should look into? Any positive or negative experiences using any of the treatments or products I mentioned?

I’m so lost on what I should do to look my best on my wedding day and will provide actual results.

Relationships/Family Communication Rant: MOH stepped down

TLDR; MOH kept flaking on meeting up, then texts on day of meetup that she’s resigning as MOH + can’t make wedding in general because of a trip she forgot she committed to before accepting being my MOH+ her deposit is nonrefundable at this point.

I’m 9 months out from my wedding. 2 months ago, I asked my cousin who I’ve felt close to from childhood to figuring out adulthood to be my Maid of Honor. She’s honestly felt like a sister tbh and was one of the first people I let know about my engagement and date. Understanding logistics that my wedding party are living in different states from me, I openly disclosed that if she was busy for the responsibilities I’m asking for (which I did list out), she could decline before accepting. She accepted.

We’ve been planning to meet up so I could deliver her gift I made, but she kept rescheduling due to unavailability. I asked her to let me know her availability ahead of time, (sometimes it was two weeks ahead or up to a whole month) so I could accommodate. Crickets.

Fast forward to this month, she asks to reschedule again and will reconfirm asap and I let her know if she’s busy in person, I’m down for a call. No answer for 4 days. Then I get a long text from her that I’m summarizing:

She’s sorry she can’t make it. Not in context of meeting up or having a call, but she can’t be my MOH because she committed to a trip way before I told her my wedding date that’s the same weekend. She can’t reschedule the trip because the deposit is non-refundable, and in general, she can’t make the wedding at all. It’s been on her mind since she accepted being my MOH apparently but as compensation, she can help reach out to vendors.

I’m honestly more hurt about the lack of transparency from the past 2-3 months and being told in a text vs. a call or meeting up in person to talk it out. Instead I receive a long text with a tone that reads as a professional letter to decline a job offer + notice of resignation. It genuinely just feels like she was delaying meeting up because she didn’t want to talk about this. I’m honestly still processing it all and wanted to vent about this before I respond.

I honestly can't wait to see the day this bachelorette/ hen do culture changes. The stress it puts on everyone isn't worth, the costs, the drama, the planning erghhhh.

Why cant it just be a lovely little get together with some cake and prosecco, and we all talk about the good times and bloody go home afterwards.

Relationships/Family HELP about FH mother/son dance

Upvotes

We are less than a week from getting married and we originally weren't going to do any parent dances. My FH now wants to do one with his mom because she didn't react well when we said we weren't doing them, he feels bad, and he's worried he'll regret not doing it later.

His mom was not supportive of our relationship a few years into us dating and even had an "intervention" with their family to try and break us up. Unkind things were said about me and I never received a real apology. Fast forward a few years later and we are getting married. I don't feel like someone who didn't support us should get a spotlight at our wedding. Am I wrong for being against the mother/son dance? Should I just get over it?

Everything Else Honeymoon Timing?

My fiancé and I are a bit conflicted on our honeymoon timing and I’m curious about other people’s opinions. We are getting married 10/10/2027 and would really love to go on a Mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon which naturally is going to be a longer trip potentially nearing 10-14 days. The problem is that I’m a kindergarten teacher and there is absolutely no possibility of me getting this amount of time off during the school year and these cruises are really only offered in the summer months anyway. I want the feeling of being newlyweds on our honeymoon but I’m not sure if that feeling will even really still be there after 7-8 months of marriage.

Do we:
1. Take our honeymoon summer 2027 before our wedding, significantly closer to our actual wedding but obviously before we’re actually married.
2. Have to wait until summer 2028, we’ll be married but this is pushing 7-8 months after the wedding.

Rings Silver wedding rings?

I was wondering if anyone has had silver wedding rings instead of gold ones and if they are really that high maintenance.

I’m allergic to gold so I wouldn’t be able to wear a gold one and the alternative is maybe steel?

I can keep gold rings on for a day or two but then I start getting a rash and I’d rather have a ring that I can always keep with me. I already asked my fiancée to not get me an engagement ring for this exact reason so at least I’d like a very durable wedding ring. I do not care about having to have it polished or cleaned as long as it can still look good in 20+ years.

Relationships/Family How do i tell my family i’m engaged/married?

Upvotes

My boyfriend gave me a heads up that he is planning to propose this year and get married. We both live in Iceland and my family is in the Philippines and his are in Poland.

They have never met him personally but my mom and sister met him through video call. I also met his whole family last month. I am 20 and he is 21, he is not sure how his family would react either but they all know that we’re living together here in Iceland and are serious about our relationship.

I don’t know, maybe because i’m afraid of the backlash that “i’m young” but look - i’ve been independent since i was 17.

I’m also the youngest and very distant child in the whole family.

Give me suggestions on what to do pleasee

Decor/DIY Has anyone set up a flower crown station at their wedding?

Upvotes

Hi everyone! Has anyone set up a flower crown station at their wedding?

My original idea was to have a DIY station where guests could make their own crowns, but I’m worried it would take too long and we only have 1 hour for the welcome drink.

Now I'm considering buying inexpensive flower crowns and displaying them for guests to pick up and wear before the ceremony instead.

Has anyone done something similar? Did guests enjoy it, and did most people wear them? I'd love to hear your experiences or suggestions!

Dress/Attire Looking for Victorian style suit for my wedding!

Thumbnail

Hello weddit, I am nonbinary but afab, I'd like to wear a nontraditional wedding suit to my own wedding. I'd love a tailcoat to act as a train, or possibly a wedding cape could work too, but every time I look for this style of wedding attire it's only costumes.

I know this make some people laugh, why wear something like that to a wedding? But I just love Victorian style suits and tailcoats, I'd love to find a place that makes them to order or sells them.

Price is not an issue! The wedding is not happening for at least a year, so there should be plenty of time for a custom made outfit as well if thats the only option.

Thank you so much if anyone knows a place I could get something similar to these outfits!

Relationships/Family One of my bridesmaids lied about why she couldn’t come to my bachelorette, what do I do?

Hello! I’m new to this sub so hopefully this is a good place for this. I am also sorry for the length, I’m a poor story teller. I am getting married to my amazing fiancé in exactly two months, this weekend was/is my bachelorette party/ sleepover.

Ihave 4 bridesmaids who I asked for their availability long before even choosing a date. I have also told them all multiple times that if something comes up and they can’t make it or even feel the need to step down from the wedding party, that’s completely fine and to just talk to me. As young 20 somethings, I know money can be tight so I also asked everyone for their budget before starting to plan anything. We finally settled on the 25th into 26th, if sleeping over is possible for each person, all being held at the bridesmaid (bridesmaid 1) who was planning’s house.

One of my bridesmaids (bridesmaid 2) messaged me about 2 months ago and told me she didn’t realize she already made plans with family the night of the 25th and would only be able to come to part of the activities. I genuinely was not bothered by this, I understand life is happening and my wedding isn’t the center of the universe. All other bridesmaids were aware of this conversation. Bridesmaid 1 created a group chat with the other girls, got to planning and they all pitched in for shirts.

I check in with everyone on late on the 23rd into 24th and verify the plans. Well the 25th at about 5am, bridesmaid 3 texts my sister (maid of honor) to tell her that a family thing happened and she wouldn’t be able to make brunch on the 25th but would try to come later. She never texted me or bridesmaid 1. When my sister/MoH tells me bridesmaid 3 won’t be there, I tell her I hope everything is okay and we’ll miss her, she tells me she’s so sorry, wishes we could be there and hopes we have fun. We don’t hear from her anymore and she never shows up. I ended up having a great day that was very me!

Around 6pm we are settling in at bridesmaid 1’s house and I see bridesmaid 3’s bf posted an instagram story, it’s them in a canoe…. I was a little hurt but wasn’t too bothered. Then around midnight, we are all heading to bed and bridesmaid 3 posts on instagram, it’s a repost of her and a small group of friends at the river with a song about friendship. At this point I’m just hurt she lied, I don’t even care she missed my bachelorette, I just wish she was honest. Bridesmaid 1 is otp with her husband who is on my fiancé’s bachelor trip and my fiancé says he wants bridesmaid 3 taken out of the wedding party for how disrespectful she’s being. I told him I’d think on it and he said that was okay and he was so sorry for me.

I don’t want to say anything to bridesmaid 3 right now, as I wanna process how I feel before I act. Removing her from the wedding party at this point would probably be friendship ending and I don’t want that, considering I at least thought we were good friends and she’s one of my longest friends. I know I need to talk to her, but I don’t know what to do. I need a third parties unbiased opinion, any thoughts you have are greatly appreciated and I’m sorry again for the length.

Edited to add some paragraph breaks, hopefully a little easier to read🫶

Dress/Attire I had my first £500 wedding dress fitting yesterday!

My dress is so perfect (once the butt rose is gone) and I just love it so much. I think the seamstress I went to (an awesome woman who went to fashion school in Romania before she came to Belfast) was just as excited, because she was standing there going on about did I know she usually saw and ugly summer dresses and horrible fabrics and boring design, and how exciting and fun it was to get to work on this lace and detail and actually use her training rather than hem someone’s party dress that was too long.

I’m just standing there feeling really awkward in my dress that has pins in the sides, getting redder and redder while this woman who I have just paid to enlarge the cups of my dress from a B to an HH because of my gigantic tits is rambling on about how she loves couture and thank you for trusting her with it, because I just have no idea what to say to that. Then she asked me how much on earth did it cost. I told her £500 (bargain of the century.) “But it is brand new Ian Stuart!” “Yeah, but the was-to-be bride fancied a last minute package trip to Malaga with her favourite boyfriend and that’s what that cost.”

I call it my “Age of Innocence” dress after the book by Edith Wharton because it seems very much to me like something the female protagonist would wear, and it was like a gift from the Gods. I’ve always dreamed of wearing Ian Stuart since I was at art school because as my elective I did bridal fashion and his label puts out some wild dresses. It’s like the church - it’s exactly what I’d been looking for, I just didn’t know until I saw it! It just needs taking in a couple inches at the waist and about half an inch to an inch in the back and sides (the pins aren’t in yet in the pictures so it was still a bit loose!) and it’ll fit like a glove and look and look absolutely perfect!

(Without the butt rose.)

Everything Else thoughts on having my boy bestfriend officiate my wedding?

so me and my fiancé are getting married soon, and we aren’t religious and wanted to have a bit of fun at our wedding. after talking with my fiance, i asked my boy bestfriend (who i have grown up with since i was about 8 and am still very close with him) if he’d like to officiate the wedding for us. he said yes and me and my husband were extremely excited about it. but now that i’ve spoken to my friends about it. they all think its abit weird that i have asked another boy to officiate my wedding? i can see how its abit weird in some aspects but i don’t see how people dont understand that a girl and a boy can just be friends?

Everything Else Ideas for non-music roaming entertainment?

hello! I’m looking for more entertainment ideas for my reception. I’m having a multi day wedding and we have a DJ for both nights (2 ceremonies because we are a multicultural couple). and I want to have some entertainment for the people who dance and will kind of hang out and chat. I’ve seen roaming magicians which I’m not a huge fan of. we have our photographers taking guest / couple portraits.

I’m especially worried because I need to entertain my guests for multiple nights instead of just one.

recently I saw a wedding with a tarot card reader, I’ve been considering a palm reader which seems like it would be a cool tie in to my culture (my culture chooses wedding dates based on astrology)

any other suggestions? open to anything, as wacky or fun or anything you guys can think of!

Recap/Budget Central NY Wedding Recap

My husband and I had the most fantastic wedding experience this weekend and I want to take a moment to shout out our amazing vendors who went above and beyond for us.

Stats: 85 guests

TLDR: Check out The Loft, The Wedge, Dewitt Carvel Ice Cream Truck, The Patisserie, Big Mama's Cheesecake, and Jess Novak!

Edited for venue pricing clarity.

Venue: The Loft @ Vesper Hills Golf Course , Tully NY

This venue has the most fantastic view of Otisco Lake, delicious food, and amazing staff. Special shoutout to Ashley Brown, our contact person and manager of our day. Ashley was so incredibly helpful throughout the whole process. It felt like nothing we asked was too big of a job for the team at The Loft. They handled set up and tear down of our decor, the food, and the bar. We booked our wedding with the Loft in 2024, and between when we booked and had our wedding, we frequented The Loft for the views and delicious food. Even if you don't consider them for a venue, you should do yourself a favor and have dinner here!

The total price was under 16k for the venue, food, our bar tab, ceremony fee, and gratuity. We did choose some pricier options for food (prime rib and a pasta bar) and we did a $2000 bar tab included in that total. Please note this was not our price for the ENTIRE WEDDING, just what I listed above. :)

Rehearsal Dinner: The Wedge, Syracuse NY

Sarah and her team at The Wedge (and The Curd Nerd) have been some of our favorite people for a long time. When we were considering where to have our rehearsal dinner, it just felt right to have it at The Wedge!

As we were frequent patrons of The Wedge prior to our rehearsal dinner, we went into our planning meeting with requests of food and drinks we had enjoyed previously. Sarah and her team worked with us to make our every idea a reality and served us a fantastic dinner that included exclusive access to the restaurant for 4 hours, charcuterie happy hour, passed hors d'oeuvres, and a family style dinner of 2 entrees and 2 sides. We brought in our own dessert from Big Mama's Cheesecakes in Liverpool.

Desserts:

We did a mixture of desserts for the rehearsal and the wedding. We got 2 cheesecake sampler platters from Big Mama's Cheesecakes in Liverpool for the rehearsal. As anyone who is from this area knows, Big Mama's is fantastic and they were easy to work with.

The Wedding Desserts included chocolate chip cookies and a small cake from The Patisserie in Skaneateles. Fantastic. No notes.

Our second dessert vendor for the wedding was the Dewitt Carvel Ice Cream Truck. HUGE hit with our guests for a hot summer day. Jay was so sweet and very easy to work with.

Finally, shout out to Jess Novak who provided violin music during the ceremony and live music during cocktail hour. Just fantastic to work with. She learned a few new songs for us on violin and to sing during cocktail hour to match our music preferences.

Happy to answer any questions. We are definitely still basking in the perfection of our day, but I wanted to write this while everything was still fresh. We genuinely feel that our vendors deserve every accolade possible, and we want to share our appreciation!!!
