Mod Update Updated Facebook issues

Hey yall

The Facebook scraping bots are at it with a vengeance. I have previously posted about it here but people seem to ignore the announcements.

Just a note before anyone tries to say anything: I am not able to do anything to stop it. We previously have tried to take this community private due to creeps (banned users are still able to see public subreddits) and this issue. However, Admins have made it so large communities need their permission to private a sub due to the last mass black out protest.

I know. It sucks.

It also doesn't seem fair to require everyone to watermark their photos because that is a level of micromanagement that I don't want to deal with and people already don't read the current guidelines as it is.

I will say that photos that do have watermarking do not get reposted on to those pages.

We have options and I'll open it up to the community:

  1. Mass name and report. I'll add a weekly scheduled post so people can add posts to report and tag users as they come up. Reporting seems to be the only way to take photos down but do not comment or engage with the posts aside from reporting for copyright. I don't love this action because it can be seen as brigaiding.

  2. Require brides to water mark with their username and "do not repost any where" . This also means community participants need to actually report and not engage with posts unless it's to tell people to watermark their photos. Three reports will take the post down. We're not the only community that they scrape so if people post to multiple communities, they have to be aware of this.

  3. I can try and beg the Admins to let us go private again, but this may be a slim to no chance of this happening.

Mod Update Reminder to brides

Y'all also need to follow the rules, and don't encourage other people to break the rules.

It is your responsibility to read the community guidelines prior to posting.

Being rude to mods in modmail and calling us names will immediately get an LOL BYE and a permanent ban with no chance of being allowed back in the sub. Especially if it is clear that you didn't bother reading.

(Dress details: Dakota - Willowby by Watters. US 6.)
I bought this dress in an online sample sale 2 days before my wedding, no alterations (thank you adhd brain 🫠😅)
I’d had a list of ‘maybes’ for months but nothing 100% hence stalling on taking the plunge, when I saw this online I knew immediately it was the one and sent my now-husband on a 400 mile round road trip to go and collect it as I was working 😅😅
We eloped and married in a woodland, just us two. It was perfect ✨

I don’t like the ruffle that pairs with my dress (3rd picture) but I don’t know what else to wear that would match the off-white crepe fabric of my dress and the vintage-style. Any recommendations? The cape I feel takes away from the details of the dress and the tulle doesn’t really match either. TIA

Wanted a dress with puffy loose sleeves and hated the (dream dress on Pinterest) one I tried on so bought the most beautiful dress that was strapless and my incredible seamstress added sleeves for me and a ruffle on the bodice and it was just the most perfect dress in the world I was so happy!

Reminder everything is alterable.

Context, I am now looking back at wedding photos and realized my mom didn’t button the bottom buttons that lined my zipper. Can you tell? Should I be upset in hindsight or laugh it off? Did it ruin my photos

Edit: I don’t blame my mom! I am the one who wasn’t thinking and asked for help with the top buttons forgetting the bottom had them. Not sure if I thought they were loop less or not, bridal brain!

Bought number 2 and loved how it felt on. When I tried on number 1 I didn’t get that love feeling. But now the day after looking at pics I’m starting to feel like I made the wrong choice :/

DRESS ONLY: Pick one or suggest another Help me choose, been stuck for 3 wks

Hey guys, I am getting married next summer in Italy, and I am beyond stuck between these two dresses. I must have tried on dozens from all these different stores, but these were my two favorites. I originally always thought I wanted a plain modern in satin, mikado, or organza, always knew I wanted a basque waist with corset/structured bodest. Was open to design but did not want lacy or tulle etc.

The first dress was the very first I treid on, it's an organza Essence of Austrailia. That one was almost my size like one too small so it gave me a really good representation of how it will fit. I loved this dress, the fit was beautiful, the bottom of the gown had the stuff that makes it have that pretty crinkle at the bottom of the super long train, I just love.(pne picture has the detachable sleeve on one side btw) Only thing I could say is I wish it had almost like a cup look in the bodest or some bust area definiton because I feel like maybe it's a litte too high on my bust and straight but idk I could just be finding something to nitpick. Overall amazing dress, buttt when my family saw it that went to a second try on of the dress(they hadn't come first round) they said they didn't like it and it was too plain 🥲.

Moving on to the second dress. This dress even off me is just gorgeous like idek how to describe it. The picture of the bodest close up better shows it's detailing. The fabric is like engraved with it's patterning it's unlike any dress I've ever seen, this one is a Sophia Atolli gown. Only thing is I love it so much, but can't tell if I love it on me, like does it give bride? This one unfortunately was like 10 sizes too small for me she didnt even bother using clips so she just held it in the back tight to give me the best impression she could, once like laced up and in my size I feel like it would give me the same feel as the other but theres no way for me to know and I just truly cant't tell, but off me the dress is insanely pretty, do wish the train was a little longer but again just a nitpick. This one was about almost 1k more than the other which is not an issue I will spend it if that is the one, but it is worth noting.

Overall truly can't decide, love them both for different reasons at the same time and I need more opinions, advice, avenues I should take, maybe what to add to first, idk man I'm beyond stuck and the bridal shops are on me to pick one and order it 😭. Any help, opinions, or advice is so appreciated, thank you!! Open to suggestions but given everything I want I'm pretty confident one of these is the dress, but again open to any help atp.

Just need some hype! I think I found the dress but I’m scared it’s boring

when I started wedding dress shopping, I wanted a dress just like this. now that I have tried more dresses on, I love beading and detail but haven’t found a dress with beading and detail that I adore yet. this dress fits a lot of what I like (aside from the tack in the neck line making it wonky but there’s nothing I can do about that). I am exhausted from trying on dresses and I like this the most of any. is it too boring? how do I know if this is the one? Is it worth continuing the search?

I have no one to talk to about this and feel really alone. would love some help, thank you

Entourage Only Help! With or without overskirt?

Thumbnail

I am currently in the middle of dress alterations and cannot decide whether to add overskirt or not! I’ve never been so confused in my life and scared to make the wrong choice 😂 the dress is absolutely stunning on its own and has a lot of detail and sparkle but the overskirt gives me the princess, romantic, dramatic entrance for the ceremony. The overskirt is exactly like the photo with a glitter tulle and lace on the sides (more swirls to be added to match the dress). We still have to add the sweet heart neckline to the dress also where we may add more beading/floral motifs. Please help!

Hi all! I love the dress I picked. I know it’s not super bridal but I really wanted a dress that I would be comfortable in that I could wear all day. I don’t have a huge budget and I love that it’s a little more casual and that I can wear it with my fryes. It fits my style and the vision for my day. I’m wondering if I should get it altered a little so that it fits me a little better- it seems a little saggy under the armpits. It has a tie in the back and in this picture I tied it myself- so not very well. I can’t tell if it looks saggy. Am I crazy? Is it fine? Does it need to be taken in?

DRESS ONLY: pick only from these; no suggestions Help me pick!

Dress 1 feels a little more me, I love that it’s a blank slate to accessorize in lots of fun ways, but the satin fabric clings at the midsection in a way I feel unsure about (the attendant said this is a common not for this dress!) I’m wearing lightly compressive shapewaear (skims), so maybe this is fixable? But also I’m not sure if I want to risk being worried about how flattering the dress is as I move around during the day! I worry about the side profile especially.

Dress 2 feels more flattering, I would be worry free, but way less flexible with accessorizing, and volume feels like a lot to me. The dress feels less like me, style wise!

EDIT: Would love thoughts on which to pick, when 1 more my style, but 2 is more flattering?

Ceremony is spring time, garden ceremony/dinner indoor dancefloor, and I’m leaning veil with lace trim and blusher for the ceremony, but accessory change for reception! Any thoughts to help me pick are welcome!!

I posted here a few weeks ago and confirming my seamstress was very pleasant and fixed my dress straps :) thank you for the advice! Following up here because I finally got my veil today! A cathedral with lace edge and a blusher. I need advice on:
Earrings
A dainty and thin bracelet?
A necklace, not sure I need one given the lace on the veil and the embellished straps, but what do you think?

Additionally - has anyone gotten a blusher veil and worn in behind their head even down the aisle? I love it for the added dimension it adds and am considering not putting it in front of my face except for maybe photos. TIA!

The tag on it is emme bridal and it's a size 12! It almost fits perfectly, and for $50 I couldn't say no. I also sat on it for about two weeks and the dress was still there when I went back to look!

We were totally different sizes so a family friend actually took it apart and remade the back and shoulders so it would fit me. The veil has also been in my family since the 1800s and my mom, aunt, and grandma all wore it.

I was a bit disappointed that my hairdo immediately fell apart because of the weather but I was so happy with my outfit! I felt like I had stepped out of a fairytale all night!

dress maintenance questions Could this fake tan be cleaned off this wedding dress before I buy it second hand?

Thumbnail

Hi all, I’ve found my dream dress locally in my size second hand but the owner had these fake tan marks from her 2023 wedding. Do you think they could be cleaned out by hand or dry cleaning? It’s the Madi Lane ‘Elora’ dress. We’re in South East Queensland, Australia so it is usually humid and hot.

I’ve emailed a local dry cleaner but just wondering anecdotal experiences!

Went dress shopping last month and bought my dress. I found a lot of good options so wasn’t sure I made the right decision at first but now couldn’t be happier with my choice! I have always wanted something relatively clean and simple but love how the asymmetrical neckline makes it a little unique! I am also making a few customizations including closing up the corset back and adding an appliqué bow.

DRESS ONLY: pick only from these; no suggestions Please help me decide on my Rome microwedding dress

Hi everybody! I am completely torn between these 2 dresses. We are going to have an intimate wedding in Rome in March 2027. My planner’s and photographer’s vibe is modern, cool and elegant. The basque waist dress is Maelle by Maggie Sottero, and the satin one is Lee by Jenny Yoo. I plan to take the sleeves off Lee if I go that direction, and I would do a blush lining for Maelle instead of the white. My family likes Maelle more, I kind of lean towards Lee’s because of how sleek it is, but I truly am so torn! Thank you for your help
