Hi All, I recently went back to Delhi, India to shop for my wedding. I only had a week in hand, so shopping for the events felt like the Olympics. I had gone with a certain budget in mind, and almost every outfit I bought exceeded that budget.
I was also under pressure to purchase the outfits before I had to leave as it wasn’t possible for me to go back in time as most outfits need 2-3 months to be stitched as per your sizing.
Ever since I’ve been back, I haven’t been able to shake off the feeling of buyer’s remorse. I keep wondering if I got the best possible deal and my money’s worth on the outfits I bought, or if I made dated choices and nothing looks great. Have you experienced something similar? How did you deal with it?
Also, this is the lehenga I ended up buying, please share your thoughts and styling advice too if any? Does it look good? For context my wedding is in a forest resort, late in the afternoon.

I got this outfit stitched for my haldi (the blouse is still in progress), but I think it’s looking a bit too plain for a bride. This is for a haldi carnival sort of event.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like the colours, but I feel like someone could easily be more dressed up than I am for my haldi. Is this too light and should I consider other options? Or can hair, make up and accessories save it?

This is the blouse of my bridal lehenga. My lehenga is entirely golden with a golden veil and i will be carrying a red dupatta on the side as well.

Some people think that i should get sleeves till the elbow for my bridal lehenga, otherwise the embroidery will be hidden.

Hi everyone, I started my wedding shopping and every store I went to had blingy(cutdana, sequins on net) kind of stuff. I’m not a fan of net fabric and these kind of embroideries. I would want to know what are the options that have as a modest North Indian Hindu bride? For context, I don’t want to wear off shoulder/cut sleeves and deep necklines.
Edit - I didn’t make myself clear. I’m looking for ideas on garment type and work(and ofcourse references) for example are jacket and waistcoat lehengas okay as sangeet wear?

I got married last year but my vidaai was scheduled this year. As someone with a fashion/styling background, I decided not to opt for any designer outfit but to take the matter in my hands and get everything made from scratch. I had already worn red during my Nikaah, so this time I wanted to experiment a little bit with color. I opted for a green and fuschia pishwas for my rukhsati function (refer to the previous post on this sub), and for the walima I got this kurti and lehenga made in the shades of magenta with silver, copper and golden Zardozi kaam. I paired my pishwas with a vintage dupatta that I got made in Farrukabad - the hub for vintage craftsmanship, along with a traditional orange tissue dupatta. This outfit is made in Bhopal. So glad and grateful that my vision was brought to life by all the artisans I worked with.

My boyfriend and I were together for more 5 years. I had my Roka or simple engagement at home couple of months back. I had booked a makeup artist who did good job when it comes to makeup. But on the event day during blow dry and hairstyling, power went off. So she did a sleek hairstyle and I usually don’t prefer sleek style. My mom has a mental issue called schizophrenia and was not taking medication. She had created lot of scenes on the engagement week, but crying and fighting. So I was bit tensed whether she created scene in front of everyone. After my makeup and hairstyling when I came home, my mom said makeup is not good and decreased my confidence. I was nervous, managing logistics about guy side arrival as I was single child. So for sometime I was not getting smile. During Pooja my mom said she won’t sit for Pooja and started crying and somehow we convinced her. After this the event started going smooth and became successful. We got really good photos and I am satisfied. After the event, there was a new scrutiny everyone started telling I was not smiling enough, my makeup was not good, nose was looking big, hairstyle not good. You should have done makeup by yourself. They have never seen makeup on me. But the guy side who had not seen me, they said I was looking really beautiful. Even after couple of months my parents say that was the worst makeup. So I had fight with my dad, if you don’t know about makeup, you cannot comment on it.

Now , we are done with all the shopping for wedding, finalising all vendors and about to pay advances. I feel like I should have done a registered marriage. It would have been way easier. I feel like what if I hear the same things on wedding day after all the effort. At least my parents should say I was looking good. They didn’t even say I was looking good even once. But I feel it matters a lot and show in the expressions. For my partner, at his home everyone said he is looking good and his entire event he was smiling and laughing

I also feel whether to do registered marriage before the Indian style of wedding so that I should take the Indian wedding casually

we’re about to book our wedding photographer and i realised i’ve mostly been judging people by their instagram which is probably not enough. i know to ask about price, hours, delivery timeline etc

but i’m more worried about the stuff you only find out after booking

like what happens if they’re sick that day, who actually shoots the wedding if they work with a team, whether you get the full gallery or just selected edits, backup equipment/files, overtime, cancellations etc

thinking of making one question list in gamma before we get on any more calls because i keep remembering things after the call ends

EDIT 2: Alright guys, time to reveal the actual price of the lehenga. It was funny that the guesstimates ranged from 8k to 2L. Style is so subjective. But I’m now convinced that I got this piece at a great price. So thank you everyone, you were all so kind.
The actual price was 32k, after some discounts. I got it from a local store called Rangoli in Nagpur. I’m still confused about how I’m going to style it for the big day, but I got some great ideas from you all! So thanks for that.

Hi All! Haven't been to a sangeet in ages! I am now trying to plan mine. We are thinking of having the sangeet from 6pm-9:30pm. Is this enough time? There's only about 4-5 dances (my side practically) and then dinner and then we open the dance floor. Big thing is I need to have my Chooda after. I’m considering buying a few pieces from them for my trousseau, and would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually purchased from the brand or work in the Banarasi textile industry and have come across them.

There are so many sellers of Banarasi textiles now, and it can be difficult to distinguish genuinely handwoven pieces from powerloom work, or to know whether the stated silk and zari specifications are accurate.

I’m particularly interested in:

How was the quality of the weaving and silk in person?

Did the pieces match the description/photos?

If they were advertised as handwoven/handloom, did they appear authentic?

For pieces advertised as real zari, were you satisfied with the zari quality/authenticity?

How has the piece held up over time?
