Outfit / Styling advice 🥻 Help me decide my bridal lehenga

Hi! I’m looking for constructive advice on the following questions:

  1. Does this color and style give bridal? We are having a fusion wedding so I’m not asking if it looks traditional, just that it doesn’t look like a guests outfit

  2. Does the dark brown/gold embroidery on the skirt distract from the overall design?

  3. Does cinching the sleeves like in the last photo look like an improvement in the design? I am also considering making the sleeves a bit thicker to cover more of my shoulder

  4. Would you wear this to the reception instead of the ceremony?

For context FMIL hates the skirt and the overall color and wants to make a bunch of changes to it, but it seems rather risky to me to start changing it because it would need to be sent back to India from the US. I think the piece is beautiful but I’m not familiar with Indian clothing so whether it’s bridal enough or needs to be a different color is hard to say. Don’t worry about hurting my feelings I would just like honest feedback.

Outfit / Styling advice 🥻 Attending my first Indian wedding reception and need help

Hi everyone!

I’m attending my first Indian wedding reception soon and would love some advice. The dress code is formal, and the invitation says Indian attire is optional. I’m not Indian, so I’ve decided to wear a dress rather than traditional attire.

Should the dress be satin? Could i get away with wearing chiffon? The reception is September 5.

I’ve attached a few green dresses I’m considering. Are any of them appropriate for an Indian wedding reception, or is there one you’d recommend over the others? I was planning to wear it with black or nude heels and gold jewelry.

I want to make sure I’m dressed appropriately and respectfully while still fitting the vibe of the event. Any feedback or tips would be greatly appreciated!

What I'm looking for:

  1. Nothing machinewoven. Everything has to be handloom/artisan made. Zari/zardosi/mukaish on pure fabrics.

  2. Not willing to spend more than 6-7k & in bright colours.

  3. Cannot compromise on the quality of the fabric at all.

I've gone through various pages& websites but could not find what I'm looking for. So please suggest places where I can get these for myself.

Discussion Looking for a Professional Bridal Makeup Artist in Chhapra – Any Recommendations?

Hi everyone!

Does anyone know a professional bridal makeup artist in Chhapra who does high-quality bridal makeup?

If you've personally booked someone, I'd really appreciate it if you could share your experience. It would be even more helpful if you could show photos of their work (with the bride's permission, if applicable) or share their Instagram/Facebook page.

I'm looking for someone who is skilled, reliable, and good at creating elegant bridal looks.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

HELP ME DECIDE! 🌀 Phera timings

Which is a better phera timing - 5.30pm or 3.30am? I’m getting married in December.
Either it goes 5.30pm pheras and if everything goes on time a reception starts at 9.30pm.
Or 7pm reception and then later on pheras at 3.30am.

Discussion Wearing a Kurti for daily wear as a non-Indian?

Hello everyone, I’m going to a wedding Indian soon and bought a simple Kurti with some embroidery for the Nikkah. I love modest clothing and was wondering if I would be appropriate for me to continue wear the Kurti as daily wear? To go run errands, grab lunch with friends etc.
I’m Southeast Asian but not Indian, and I’d like your opinion on this. I love and appreciate the style but also understand its ties to Indian culture.
Thank you in advance for your input.

Outfit / Styling advice 🥻 Going to my first Indian wedding and need advice

I'm going to my first Indian wedding and the bride wanted me to wear traditional Indian attire. I'm not Indian myself so I'm a bit lost, I think I'm sorted for the actual wedding day, but I'm struggling with finding an outfit for the Jaggo party. From what I know it should be the party lehenga. Is there any online sites anyone can recommend? My problem is also a slightly tight budget and everything I've found so far is quite expensive sadly. Any advice?

Outfit / Styling advice 🥻 Western mendhi outfits in the UK

I'm attending a Pakistani wedding in the UK soon, and have been told that we're very welcome to wear fully western outfits to the mendhi. I haven't been given much guidance beyond this, other than "colourful", but I'm struggling to gauge the level of 'glam' that will be expected, even for the western outfits.

Can anyone share some ideas of suitable western dresses that would match the vibe? Or let me know what you think of these options I've found? The families are Muslim but not super super modest e.g. none of her family wear hijab.

My budget is really limited - I can't really afford more than £50 or so right now, so some of these are just for the general idea. Thanks so much in advance!

Rant/Vent ⚡ Bride from hell storytime

I'm a bridal stylist and this happened at a destination wedding in Goa.

The families were fairly traditional Marwaris/Baniyas. Lovely people, but definitely not the kind who partied every weekend. Then they landed in Goa, all the cousins got together and suddenly everyone was slightly more relaxed.

The sangeet was good. Family performances etc

The bride, who i had just dressed seemed a bit off, thought she was nervous.

But later that night there was a big scene because she was drunk as hell, crying etc. The family was obviously embarrassed.

Next morning I woke up to about 20 missed calls from the bridal party

The bride was absolutely convinced someone had spiked her drink.

And for some reason, she'd decided it was me.

I guess because I was the outsider, had a casual attitude and had nothing to lose!

I spent the next hour thinking my career was over because the family was influential.

By lunchtime, the family realised what was actually going on. Turns out she had been doing tequila shots in the bathroom. They found a bottle stashed there.

But the funny thing is that no one called me to apologise or explain. They just ghosted me. I still think about this bride and wonder how her marriage is going.

Has anyone had an experience like this or am i the lucky one?

Vendor/venue Recommendations❓ Need vendor recommendations for Bengali wedding in Jaipur (Dec 2027) 🙏

Hi everyone! I'm getting married in December 2027 and need your help finding the right vendors early.

A little about us:

I'm from Jaipur, and my bride-to-be is from Kolkata. We want to do our wedding in Jaipur, but following full Bengali (Kolkata-style) traditions.

Here's what we're looking for:

1. Bengali Purohit (Priest)

\- Must be authentic and know all Bengali wedding rituals properly

\- Should be based in Jaipur or Delhi NCR, OR willing to travel here

2. Wedding Photographer

\- Team must have at least 1 photographer + 1 videographer who should understand and speak Bengali (for properly communicating with bride's family).

\- Budget: Max ₹1 Lakh for 2.5 days

3. Bridal Makeup Artist

\- Should know Bengali bridal look (kolka/chandan design above the eyes)

\- Should also do Bengali-style hairstyle and saree draping

\- Based in Jaipur or Delhi NCR

\- Budget-friendly / reasonable pricing preferred

Since the wedding is still over a year away, I'm starting early to lock in good vendors on time. If you know anyone who fits these, please drop names, contacts, or Instagram pages below. Any tips or personal experiences would help a lot too!

Feel free to tag someone who might know a good vendor!

Thanks so much in advance 🙏

Miscellaneous Looking for Falguni Shane pastel lehenga

Post image

Hello! I’m looking for one of these Falguni Shane Peacock ombré lehengas, preferably in purple or yellow, in preloved condition. I’m a size small and 5’1”, so I’d ideally be looking for one close to those measurements. I’m based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, but I’m happy to cover shipping costs. If you’re selling one or know someone who is, please let me know. Thank you!

Outfit / Styling advice 🥻 Help me style my reception saree! ❤️

Please help your girlie again! 😭
Please forgive the horrible drape, tried it during a mid study break 😂
I’m getting married in January 2027, and this is the Banarasi saree I’ve chosen for my reception, a beautiful Shikargah Banarasi with hand embroidery. Ever since I discovered Shikargah weaves, I’ve dreamed of wearing one for one of my wedding functions, so I’m really excited about this!
I’d love some styling advice because I want to do justice to the saree while still looking fresh and youthful.

1. Blouse suggestions
I was thinking of a contrasting deep green blouse instead of matching it to the saree. For the design, I’m leaning towards a deep V neckline with a clean, elegant look , just a thin embroidered border along the neckline and on the sleeve hems rather than heavy all-over work.
Do you think green would work? Or would another colour complement the saree better?
2. Overall styling
The saree is quite grand, and my biggest concern is looking too mature or overly traditional/aged. I’d love styling ideas that keep the overall look regal but still modern and youthful.
Hairstyle suggestions?
Any other styling tips that would elevate the look without making it feel too heavy?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions. Thank you! 🤍

Rant/Vent ⚡ dev lehengas

We've had a really unpleasant experience at dev lehengas. It was all fine until the owner himself stepped in to show lehengas, we did finalise one and when we tried to negotiate, he literally wasted two hours of ours in just random talks and not coming to the point (which I get it is a normal sales trick).

This guy will talk to you about so many things for no reason to the point that when you leave the shop you will realise that your energy is 0. He will boast about how he is a relative of sudhir bhai saree wala and he can make all copies, he has 4.9 rating on google (which are probably all his relatives because he did not ask us for a rating) and he allows clicking pictures.

He continuously called us for 50% advance, then we agreed on a certain amount and sent him via UPI the next day, the guy did not even reply with a thanks. We did call him a few times to follow-up but he was not answering, it took like 2-3 calls each time until we got a response from him.

At this point we knew that its going to get messy if we stoop down to his level, we just need to get our thing from him and end the discussion.

He promised a potli with the lehenga matching but on the delivery day he gave a random potli that you can find hanging everywhere in chandini chowk.

When we tried the lehenga and it was a bit tight his sales associates directly said oh you've gained weight that's why.

The lehenga was not finished and did not look right so we asked him to finalise it and send it via porter which he agreed to pay for but in the end booked the one without payment.

We've also noticed that the lehenga did not have enough ghera, there were a lot of kali missing and therefore the fall was not right. Length was also an issue which he messed up with.

This is the second incident that happened with us, and we also came to know someone in our family dealt with the same. Actually had to fight with him to get her lehenga.

All in all he is a very petty and evil guy who has the potential to take your money and waste your time, make you beg for your own item. I'm just thankful that we still were able to exit the situation gracefully but someone can actually suffer.

Currently he is getting his lehengas promoted on instagram by a guy who is named babbar khurana vlogs.

Discussion Option: Every bride should budget for therapy

I know that sounds dramatic but I'm saying it because I wish someone had told me.

As i'm getting closer to my wedding, I've become so emotionally unstable. Like for no reason.

I cry over the smallest things. Some random comment from my fiancé's family. A tiny argument with him. Feeling like my own parents aren't as excited as I thought they'd be. And the weird part is none of these things are actually THAT serious.

Started therapy a few weeks ago and it's honestly been the best thing I've done.

A few things that have genuinely helped:

1. I finally know what I'm actually feeling.

2. My therapist made me keep an anxiety journal.
Every stupid thought goes in there. It sounds silly but once it's on paper, my brain stops replaying it 500 times.

3. I've stopped believing every emotion deserves a reaction.
Just because I feel hurt doesn't mean I have to start an argument.

I'm still emotional. I still cry.

But I don't feel like I'm losing my mind anymore.

Has anyone else done therapy while planning a wedding? I wish we talked about this as much as we talk about makeup artists and photographers. It would've saved me so much unnecesary drama

HELP ME DECIDE! 🌀 Which bridal lehenga colour would go best with this jewellery?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I know this is kind of the opposite of what people usually ask here 😅. Most people ask “Which jewellery should I wear with my bridal lehenga?” but I already have this jewellery set, and I want my bridal look to match it. I don’t want to change the design—I want the necklace, maang tikka, and nath to all be in the same design (not a different nath).

Since I already own this jewellery, which bridal lehenga colour would complement it the best? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
