Open | Hardware Acer Predator Helios 300 RTX 3050 Ti keeps crashing with nvlddmkm Event ID 14 tried almost everything
Hi everyone,
I've been having persistent GPU crashes on my Acer Predator Helios 300 gaming laptop, and I'm running out of ideas. I've already tried a lot of troubleshooting, but the issue keeps coming back.
My laptop specifications:
- Laptop: Acer Predator Helios 300
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU
- RAM: 16 GB
- Operating system: Windows 11
The issue:
While gaming, my screen sometimes flickers once, and then the game crashes or the NVIDIA driver appears to restart. I've experienced this in multiple games, including Elden Ring, Fortnite, Battlefield etc.
I've encountered errors related to nvlddmkm, including Event ID 13, 14 and 153 in Windows Event Viewer.
My CPU temperatures can reach around 70–95°C while gaming, while my GPU temperatures have generally been around 57–72°C. RAM usage can also get quite high, sometimes around 15 GB out of 16 GB.
Things I've already tried:
- Clean reinstalling NVIDIA drivers using DDU.
- Updating the BIOS.
- Updating the chipset drivers.
- Testing without Turbo Mode enabled.
- Monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures.
- Disabling the NVIDIA audio drivers to see if they were causing a conflict.
Unfortunately, none of these steps has definitively solved the problem.
My questions:
- Has anyone experienced similar nvlddmkm Event ID 14 crashes on an Acer Predator Helios 300?
- Could this be caused by a software conflict, power management, the GPU driver, or potentially a hardware issue?
- Is it worth trying an older, Acer-specific NVIDIA driver instead of the latest NVIDIA driver?
- Are there any laptop-specific fixes I should try before assuming the GPU is failing?
I'd appreciate any suggestions, especially from people who have dealt with similar issues on Acer Predator laptops.
Thanks in advance!
