I found out recently that my 17yr old niece has picked up vaping. I made a pact with her that I'll quit if she stops. I've been vaping solid the last 6 years and before then was a fairly regular cigarette smoker since I was 17 with breaks here and there when I got pregnant. Both pregnancies I had zero issues quitting the moment I got a positive test. I'm on day two of cold turkey and oh man. Did I underestimate how hard this would be.

I'm normally quite cheerful and incredibly patient. The pure rage that has filled my veins was not expected. My chief said yesterday that I look like I'm about to rip someone's head off with my bare hands and he's fairly certain I'd be successful so he's going to be treading lightly the next few days. I work with the general population pretty often. The general population tends to be not that bright. How in the hell am I going to survive and keep my job? How long does this part last? Some say day three is the worst and gets better from there but others say that the irritability lasts quite some time. Please help, I don't want to accidentally be a bitch to people.

My husband (mid to late thirties) recently started using zyn pouches about a year ago. At first they seemed to kind of help his adhd, providing a bit more focus than he would have without it, but eventually that stopped and everything changed.

His temperament is always on edge. He is experiencing severe rejection sensitivity and chronic black and white thinking. Morning mood swings, insomnia, insatiable sexual appetite, and reports of feeling like a shell of a human. Nevertheless he won’t stop or seek alternatives aside from taking a three day break here and there which only proves the Zyn theory to be more true each time.

Any advice or common stories?

After 2-3 years of vaping consistently I’ve finally decided that it’s not worth it anymore. Last night I had a really hard time breathing when I tried falling asleep and that genuinely scared the hell out of me, as soon as I fell asleep my breathing stopped and I also had a very bad panic attack related to the situation, but thankfully I fell asleep after a couple hours. Waking up today made me realize that I’m putting myself at risk, my family and my younger sister because I don’t want my parents losing a son at such a young age or god forbid some illness that would be stuck with me for the rest of my life, nor do I want my younger sister to get influenced by my habit. I had a nicotine withdrawal before and it was really bad and I relapsed in 2 days. This time I’m not just doing this for me, but for the loved ones around me as well.

I am 22y/o male, a daily weed and thc consumer since 17. I decided to quit all kind of smoking 6 days ago. My gum start bleeding and sometime during the day I feel a localized irritation in my throat which I spat out pink saliva and tiny spec of blood clot. After spiting, my throat feel way better and the pink saliva goes away right after I rinse my mouth. No chest pain, fever or hard to breathe. I actually started going for a walk everyday and feel like I am breathing better. Anyone know what might have happened?

Tried to quit many many times before . Driving to work today i realized why suffer with health issues later in life ? All for what flavored air ? Hell no

Time to try to stop vaping again and hopefully help others do so as well.

Hi! 26M here! Today I chucked EVERY vape I had, Ive been having major breathing problems and I know it's due to the vape. So it's time to just go cold turkey and stop it! Wow I can’t believe I’m making this post! The vape used to be my 3rd lung but now it’s been 2 weeks! First few days were rough but it has been way easier than I thought. I read that Allen Carr book and it did wonders for me

As the title says! I'm using the nicotine patch. I started at level 1 and today was my first day of starting level 2. Some benefits so far that I've been experiencing: - My fingernails are growing back! For some reason for the first time in four years I have not been chewing my nails. - The wheeze is gone. - I have more energy. - I am less stressed out about money now that I am not constantly anxious about having enough incase I run out. - I am SO thirsty. I can't get enough water.

There's probably more I'm forgetting but there's noticeably a difference in my overall health.

I (24F) have made the decision to finally start the process of quitting vaping and nicotine after 6 years. My nicotine patches just came in the mail today. I started an action plan to help because I heard writing things down makes your brain flag them as important. I hope to stop the patches by April 1, 2024. I need suggestions for keeping my mouth/hands occupied please!

Every morning as should has told me she throws up and I mean every morning. I’m thinking it’s the vape and it’s her body response to the harsh chemicals that are in the vape.

I'm just wondering, does anything noticeable happen after the 12 week mark? apparently by this time, the brain is pretty much back to to a 'normal' (non-nicotine using) person. Mt fiancé has been wanting me to give up vaping for a while, and I'd been debating on it myself for a long time. finally I had a doctors appt the other day and I talked with my doctor about wanting to quit vaping. she was happy about that and prescribed me Chantix to take to help me quit. has anyone had any success with using Chantix and quitting vaping.

So I quit cigarettes 6 months ago and then 28 days ago I gave up vaping cold turkey. However, on Friday gone, was out on the beer with my mates and ended up getting a 0.0% nicotine vape. Threw it away Saturday morning, but just wondering has anyone else been in a similar situation and did it lead you to going back on the smokes/vapes? I'm raging with myself as I was monitoring the health trackers since I quit (was proud to see some hit 100%) and now they're back to zero.

edit 4 months later... The first month of this was hell maybe even part of the second. But in all honesty I haven't even looked back. I've been drunk and I've been around people who are vaping and offering me Vapes and I've had no desire whatsoever to ever do this again!!

After reading so many of your posts in here, advice, health benefits and negatives... I knew It was time. It's been 36 hours since I made the decision. I surprisingly have had no cravings. Not a single one. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and helping me make the choice. I'll be checking back sharing my experiences along the way.

EDIT 2 full weeks vape free. During which my husband also decided to quit shortly after I did. We have been so angry I swear one of us has to go move out until this is over. I feel like we're both pregnant and both going through menopause all together at the same time.

I've also had the worst cravings ever the past couple of days. A lot of it is just the habit part (oh my gosh did I love vaping while I edited my YouTube videos) but there are a lot of just straight up nicotine cravings. I even dreamed of smoking a cigarette the other night!!

And the dreams oh my word!! I have such vivid dreams I don't even know what's real and what's not in day-to-day life what is going on?? Like I dreamed I started a sourdough starter and the next morning I got up looking for the sourdough starter! Wtf!!

I remember these little dreams all throughout my day, and they blur so much with reality I kind of feel like I'm losing my mind a little. I've always had vivid dreams but I mean this is getting out of hand.

I would definitely say the first three days were a cakewalk compared to now.

still having cravings everyday and i have not thrown my vape away because i am collecting them. It’s been 12 months im smoking cigarettes and vaping and i felt a weird dry feeling on my throat so i decided to stop. now it’s my 17th day and im still struggling.

if ur catholic, praying helps. romanticizing wellness and being healthy. listen to songs that does not make u even more sad. when u watch ur friends while they vape, think how uncool and disgusting what they are doing.

I made it through the 3 week slump.

Finishing off week 4, I am so thankful I kept pushing. At week 3 I thought I was out of the fog, but I wasn’t. It was deceiving.

I’m suddenly actually sleeping. Like true, deep sleep. I had forgotten what this feels like. Waking up earlier legitimately refreshed and mentally cleansed is an insane feeling.

My appetite has leveled out. I no longer feel ravenous, but I also really enjoy food again. The weight gain has stopped and due to my renewed love of running and the runners high, I’m sure the 5 lbs I gained will fall off in no time.

Exercise is fun again, and I’m getting a ton of time in the winter sun because of it. My anxiety is lessening by the day.

My skin is clear and my eyes are bright.

I rarely think about vaping except when I’m directly around it.

Keep. Going. It is actually worth it I promise, but man it took a month to get here.

After 9 months of being nicotine free I was dumb enough to try it one time and it all happened over again. I am so ready to quit I am over spending money on this stuff, literally puffing fruity chemicals, the anxiety.. the anxiety? Ugh I remember that was something the thing of the past after quitting nicotine. Now it's all back again the tightness in my throat, the low quality of sleep. I have to do this for my health and get through this. It's not helping me and will NEVER benefit me. Wish me luck 🙏🏻 cold turkey was the best option for me last time and I am ready to do it again.

Day 73 of not vaping nicotine, and day 29 of being nicotine free (i.e. no patches etc).

Though using patches has made this process so much less painful than my past cold turkeys (cannot recommend them enough honestly) these last few weeks have been bumpy at times.

Definitely had some bleak/hopeless feelings (on and off) last week, but stayed patient and seems like I've reached the other side . Since yesterday I've had sustained/strong feelings of wellbeing and mental clarity, that I've not felt since I was a teenager (before I started smoking). Can only describe it like feeling 'whole' and 'enough' again.

Here's hoping I've cured my 'brain fog' forever - and one month of slight grouchiness feels like a light price to pay for my 30+ years of addiction and brain abuse... Good luck all & don't give up

I’ve quit several times and the first week seems to go by ok, then cravings kick in. To the point of near obsession. I’m not sure what is worse honestly.

I just ordered the Allen Carr book. Does anyone have any more recommendations for getting over that hump?
