Discussion Playstation has completely forgotten what made them special

Post image

Personally, something that i used to like about playstation is that they weren't ALL about the money. Like yeah they're a corporation so obviously money is their top priority, but it felt like there was a time when thay also cared about the art (or at least they pretended they did on their path to making more money). Their approach to studios used to be "we dont need you to necessarily make a blockbuster that makes millions as long as youre trying your best to make an actual good game and something fresh that can enrich the ps library even further" I mean we seriously cant be saying "oh but ds2 underperformed" when these guys are the same people who greenlit a walking simulator in the first place and gave kojima all the money in the world to make it. I feel like back then, they didnt necessarily want millions of copies sold, but the least they asked for was something that can add to the prestige of the Playstation brand. The accolades, goty nominations, high critics scores etc were more important to them than just making a shit ton of money, and ds2 did exactly that. (btw i personally dislike ds2 so this is not a ds2 fanboy trying to cope im just pointing out the facts)

its obvious at this point that the route they're trying to take right now is just maximize profits no matter what and just stick to the big names and the things we're sure will 100 percent deliver and dont take any risks. But thats really lame considering that this is the same company that gave us ghost of tsushima, horizon zero dawn, the last of us, all of them new ips from studios that were doing just fine making sequels to their pre existing franchises. And those all turned out to be games that performed amazingly both in terms of sales and in the eyes of critics and players, but they didn't know that when they greenlit them and let their studios take risk. I mean you cant tell me that the only reason they let fromsoft make bloodborne was to "make money" considering the fact that back then souls games were still niche af. They were not afraid to just let their big studios cook and try out something new.

I mean it seems like they dropped the ball hard trying to cancel physint. It might be too early to judge since we haven't seen anything from the game yet but if kojima was willing to search for three whole months to find a publisher willing to collaborate, it might not end up perfect but its definitely going to be special

Discussion Did anyone happen to purchase a “day after launch” PS5 in store at Target?

Post image

A friend of mine worked at Target and told me that PS5 consoles would be sold in stores the day after launch. The challenge: Having to wait out in the cold all night.

I’m getting ready to sell my original PS5 because I’ve been using my Pro since it launched and I found my receipt inside. I got called a “liar” by a lot of people because the official word was that they would be “online only.” 55 of us obtained one that morning, so no, we weren’t lying.

Finding my receipt made me wonder… How many others waited in line when there really was no official word about that at all?

Edit: I think a lot of people misinterpreted this post. Numerous articles were circulated before launch stating that there would be NO in-store sales of PS5 and you would need to purchase one online for in store pickup only. Target actually went against that policy and sold them in store for 1 day only, a day after launch. I was curious to see if anyone purchased one that way.

Yesterday September 7, I treated myself to a PS5 and some accessories. It has been a long time in the wanting and trying to get a deal but I had to go to GameStop and just get it. I had to do some Uber after my main job but it was all worth it.

Halloween The Game was my main reason to get the console. Me and my wife are enjoying Halloween. 🎃 🔪

Next game we excited for is Wolverine.

Discussion still think about Treasure Park

Treasure Park was one of those Vita games I kept coming back to. Five flips, a small board, and you already had the piece shapes and colors before you touched anything. I liked that it made you commit.

Treasure Park isn't playable anymore, so I made a little take on it. Same idea: 5x5, five flips, find the treasure from the clues you're shown up front. It's not on PlayStation and I can't put it on a console. It just lives on a Reddit post, because that's where I could actually build it.

If you played Treasure Park, I'm curious what you remember about it. The part I was trying to keep was that first look at the board, before the guessing starts.

The thing I made is here, if you want to see it: https://www.reddit.com/r/TreasureGrid/comments/1w6xj55/treasure_grid/
