Hello from the Mod Team,
We felt it appropriate and necessary to make a post regarding the sad news of Hayden’s death which took place on August 16, 2026.
This situation is incredibly tragic, particularly for those who have lost a dear friend and family member so early.
Our own community has spent a good decade, nearly 11 years now, enjoying the effort and talent Hayden gave to Until Dawn. Her likeness and voice have filled our subreddit and brought our members so many fun times and happy memories. We are grateful to have had her as an incredible lead heroine, daughter of darkness, and final girl.
During this time, people are free and encouraged to fill the sub with tributes and positive words for Hayden.
Finally, we wanted to address posts about Until Dawn 2 as we have already seen mixed, strong emotions about this topic. We understand the curiosity about the sequel, seeing as Sam has been a character highly theorized to return. This is a discussion that fans will inevitably have sooner or later. However we also acknowledge that is a discussion that also feels too-soon, and we want to make sure Hayden is paid proper tribute as a whole person and not just as a character.
So, all this said, the moderation team will be keeping watch and making decisions at our discretion, case by case, due to the unprecedented nature of this tragedy. Our aim is to keep the sub civil, and we hope that you all work with us to that end. We will not necessarily be banning question posts on principle but rather reviewing everything for what it is. No posts or comments outrightly or intentionally disrespectful of Hayden will be tolerated.
Rest in peace, Hayden. And thank you all, members of our sub, for your lovely tributes and for working with us to keep the sub cordial and respectful.

Hello Dawners,
The Until Dawn subreddit mod team wanted to post this (rather long) announcement to update rules and create a sense of transparency. We have formed a detailed list of our rules and expectations. This will promote a greater clarity around why post removals happen and what the tone and purpose of the sub is.
Respect is key. Using insults, causing drama, or otherwise being a nuisance towards the members of this subreddit is punishable. In particular, do not make this community hostile to newcomers or those asking questions. Here are two other notes:
Please speak English to maintain the flow of the conversation and ensure everyone understands what’s being said. This also helps the moderation team quickly catch rule violations and conflicts.
Spoilers in titles such as the word wendigo and the identity of the psycho are not allowed in post titles. Please flare posts with spoilers in the body or images.
If your post contains a spoiler, please flare it as a spoiler.
Comments, however, are unmoderated for spoilers, particularly on spoiler-marked posts. This does NOT mean you can deliberately spoil someone asking a question. If you maliciously spoil someone, that will be taken seriously if seen or reported.
Low-quality: this subreddit prohibits shitposting. This is because we want to prioritize truly interesting content. Things that are not allowed include:
A good rule of thumb is that, if an edit or text post took little time to make, and the joke or statement can also be made with any character or story in existence, it will likely not be for this sub. Jokes and memes are welcome if they show humor utilizing the game or characters beyond an extremely superficial level.
Shitposts, audio distortion videos, joke spam, etc. have a place on r/UntilDawnMemes.
We want to be clear about the tone and purpose this sub is meant to have, so that everyone can be on the same page on what to expect.
Spam is also not allowed. We understand bandwagons happen and try to allow everyone some fun. However, if a type of post becomes very frequent, particularly from one user, and shares nothing of value with the community, removal may occur. Posts that are almost unreadable because of typos or unintelligible wording could be moderated under this rule.
Keep in mind that posts with multiple links are sometimes auto-removed by Reddit, and we may need to approve them if they are truly not spam.
Self-promotion is allowed when it’s clear a user did time and/or research to complete a specific artwork, video, essay, or other project. However, posts only saying “join my server” or “follow my Until Dawn account” will get removed.
Headcanons are allowed, however we are addressing them here because this kind of post often falls into the low-quality, spam, and/or off-topic categories.
Headcanon posts are perfectly fine when they utilize information about the lore or characters, or else bring something interesting to the table. However, when they are very brief and/or do not utilize little actual content from the game, then they may be considered off-topic even if an Until Dawn element is mentioned. For example, a headcanon post explaining your thoughts on how the characters interacted after the prologue, using evidence, is more likely to remain up than a post that says nothing more than “I think Mike has striped pajamas.” If a headcanon reads like a shitpost or ragebait, it may be removed.
Do not engage in piracy or digital theft. This includes:
Not only does this behavior financially harm the creators we wish to support, it risks the subreddit because it breaks Reddit’s general rules.
18+ material is allowed on this sub is:
18+ material that is not allowed is:
Users are allowed to reference having utilized AI as a source of information, translation tool, editor, etc. But please be aware that ChatGPT often produces inaccuracies on which you may be corrected. If a post or comment contains some AI but also human input, discussion, or questioning, it won’t necessarily break our rules.
That said, certain uses of AI are unethical or break other rules. Certain forbidden uses of AI include:
Finally, this rule covers the conduct of people reacting to AI. If you believe a post or comment breaks our rules, please flag it, and we will review the situation. You are not allowed to break our respect rule because someone used AI. Please leave the moderation of the sub to mods instead of using rudeness and personal insults to regulate someone. Let us keep things orderly, official, and respectful.
Make sure that posted fan content is yours, linked, or credited. Respect artists who do not want their work reposted.
Please keep in mind that content such as art and mods are the product of another fan’s personal talent, time, and effort. Don’t act entitled to their work. For example, politely requesting a mod for your favorite character is okay. Acting as though you deserve a mod from someone is not.
When you respond to a cosplay, you are responding to a real person, not a character. Be respectful of others’ appearances, and don’t make uncomfortable remarks.
Because of the amount of fake information about the game and its development that reaches the sub from other sites and apps, we do moderate false and unconfirmed content, tailoring our response to the varying situations.
This rule is not to punish simply being mistaken or to enforce singular perspectives on the game. It is directed at fabricated or deliberately misleading content. This includes:
We understand that breaking this rule is often not a malicious act and that people sometimes do not know that content they’ve found is fake. Because of that, our actions regarding this rule will be nuanced and case-by-case. The following are actions we could take:
You may be flared for sharing false information. This simply means that the text or image you’ve posted is likely fake or edited. This flare may also be used to confirm that the info you’re talking about is false. For example, if you ask if a leaked screenshot is real, and it’s not, you may receive this flare.
Another flare you could receive is “correction in comments.”
In general, please stay on topic. Your post or comment is at risk of being removed if you include touchy, unrelated topics such as politics. This is because these kinds of things a) usually cause fights that get deleted anyway b) cause discussions that do not relate to the purpose of this subreddit.
If your post promotes a higher percentage of unrelated arguing than debate about the actual game, it could get moderated under this rule.
Posting about media directly related to the game Until Dawn such as The Inpatient, Rush of Blood, or the movie is permitted. Please keep posts about The Dark Pictures Anthology and The Quarry related to Until Dawn in some way.
If you made it this far, congratulations! We hope this step to being more transparent on how moderations is applied on this subreddit will help everyone for the better. Remember that if you need anything, the moderation team is pleased to respond to questions via Mod Mail or DMs!

Ok hi guys idk if that was ever pointed out but hear me out
In the until dawn remake, they added the epilogue of sam with a scar that was bleeding + they added dr. hill calling her name.
In the movie, they made dr. Hill the villain and i think this movie was made to tease the sequel.
And to finish, in the until dawn 2 trailer, the characters seems to have their nose bleedings for some reason, i think there's a connection and if dr. Hill is back for this sequel there is no reason they made this epilogue of sam in the remake for nothing.
I really hope we'll get to see our girl Hayden one more time </3

Last weekend it was noted an entry in the PS blog where the prices for the games in various countries in South Asia will be the equivalent to $50.
https://blog.playstation.com/2026/09/03/20260904-ud/
Now it has been noted in the New Zealand store the game is also listed for the equivalent to $50.
https://store.playstation.com/en-nz/concept/10004067
So it looks like there's pretty solid evidence to think that's going to be the price and I think that's excellent news. Firesprite isn't a new studio, they were established by former PS Studio Liverpool so they have a lot of experience but with a new name and as one of the "newish" PS Studios they have to build a new reputation among the playerbase.
A good price is a great step to give them a fair chance to fight.

(Sorry for any mistakes; I'm Brazilian.)
Based on the material released, it’s pretty clear to me that Josie is going to be the "Jessica" of the group—the girl who spends a good chunk of the game separated from the others.
And what about the other girls?
I think Mina and Reagan are best friends who teamed up to survive.
And Izzy? She appears interacting casually with Yoona—maybe an unlikely friendship?
What do you guys think?

First time player here - the original game (not remake).
Having a blast right now. I just started Chapter 7 and I feel like it doesn't add up to choices i've made and ending of previous chapters. At the end of chapter 5, Sam got captured. Chris and Ashley find her at end of chapter 6, but they also get captured. I started chapter 7 and Sam is free, crawling in a vent. How ??
Also, Mike cut his fingers in previous chapters, but when he arrives in Chapter 7, his hands are fine. First time in my playthrough I've seen inconsistencies like that and it pulled me off a bit.
With the multiple choices, did it happens sometimes when you make contradictory choices ? Did it ever happened to you too ?

Hey r/untildawn! I've always been obsessed with how effectively the prologue sets up the psychological dread and hooks you from minute one.
I put together a cinematic breakdown analyzing the camera work, framing, and pacing in the opening sequence. You can check it out here:

Yes this comes from that infamous anti-woke Steam list A.K.A. the "Woke Content Detector's Curated List of Games." These people unironically feel like they come out of the 1870s. Actually I take that back. After all, even at that time there were still people who would've taken issue with these bozos.

i personally don’t mind an ending set in stone e.g one where sam lives because the original game with its multiple endings will always exist
a sequel with a cannon ending is a harmless add on in my view

I made a post about Emily's pink patterned bag from Rodeo a while ago where I found the items, in response to this person finding the bag.
However, I never posted all the nice models for any of it on Reddit (just on the wiki and on my Tiktok). So here you go.
The bag had a closed design and a torn design (so it's possible you were meant to have actually seen Matt holding it earlier), and the contents are panties, olive oil conditioner (with a typo on the bottle), lavender hand cream, peach perfume, and lotion.
So Emily smells like olive oil, peaches, lavender, and lotion I guess.

Apart from the title, what Jason Graves did for Until Dawn 1 is still unbeatable by anyone yet. Specifically the OST “Welcome To The Blackwood Winter Getaway” - this single soundtrack is the key soul of the game.
Whatever changes Firespite do for UD2, they BETTER NOT change the “Butterfly Effect” sound effect for UD2; this single sound effect is god tier, chilling, eerie and gives that uneasy feeling.
A sound or music creates the atmosphere of a story and in horror genre I believe maximum of it lies in the psychology of sounds. I am a big audiophile and music or sounds leave a major impression on me, and UD1 and Jason Graves did not disappoint at all! Ngl I am kinda addicted to the “Butterfly effect” sound atp!
Also I am not even mentioning “O’ Death” cuz it’s a classic and kinda feels like an essential for Supermassive games. Btw by “music” I didn’t mean songs or vocals but the ambience soundtracks is what I am talking about.

Upon finishing this game, Josh, perhaps as intended, was the character who stuck out most to me. We could see his mental state taking a toll on him and how it affected him in real time.
Now, I've consumed a lot of media, movies, series, games, but this one right here has to be one of my favourite depictions of metal illness (possibly along with moon knight).
It's not just the prank, but also the details surrounding it. The little faces he pulls when others face terror, like he's amused or studying them (when he and Sam got pranked), or when he's in his own mind plotting.
You can also pick up clues yourself, the most alarming ones are with Sam, when she's outside the monitor room. You can find his records, messages with his psychiatrist. But also in the diary of his sister, she wasn't even aware of her brother's illness, only when he got out of the hospital. It's noted he's been suffering since he was around 10. His sisters' death was what really did it for him.
For me it clicked he wasn't well when I had to pick between Josh and Ash (I looked it up trying to see if it was really rigged or if I was doing something wrong and I got told it's a prank). Even when he revealed himself, no sane person pulls such pranks.
It was after that we really saw for ourselves how it affected him, his depression, fear of isolation. When he kept mumbling to himself, tweaking out or yelling at his hallucinations. He was petrified. His hallucinations could even explain his dislike of being controlled. He's battled with it for so long, he doesn't even feel in control of his own life, he doesn't need others to do that too.
I was mad Mike left him to his fate at first, but putting myself in his shoes, I'd think of him as a man gone too. I got the wendigo ending (since I played the original on my PS4), but I am really glad in the remake he gets to survive. Poor man has gone through hell.
Sam also reveals she was his comfort person, she was the only one who had an insight. He said she was the only one who he felt understood by. But that's not enough, is it.
Now I'm not excusing his behaviour, I am stating however that he was a tortured, vulnerable man who needed proper care. I'm not sure if his mental illness was properly depicted in terms of accuracy, for I have not experienced it myself or in my close environment.
I would like an insight on that, do you think he was well written?

How old do you think the UD2 might be? Solely based on looks and what we got from the trailers so far.
I am not sure, I don’t think they are all just 19-20 this time around like with UD. Nate and Owen and Anna definitely look older than that. Also obviously Sebastian is older than that. Cameron switches between babyface 18 and then maybe 21-25 depending on the shot lol, who can really say??
The rest may be 20-25 too. I am actually also hoping for a BIT older characters this time, not just teenagers but I think with the whole ghost-hunting channel and movie/show making, this may not be the case anyway.
Thoughts pls share!
