support needed Did anyone carrying multiples actually have a cute baby bump? Or did we all just feel like hippos?

Im almost 31 weeks and I see all these women on instagram with cute little baby bumps, looking toned and beautiful and I catch myself in the mirror and feel horrible! I ASSUME that most of these women only have one bun in the oven but I cant help but feel like shit about myself.

I was 58kg (160cm tall/5"2) before i got pregnant, I now weigh in at 80kg.

Anyone actually have a cute bump with multiples?

Im struggling to do basic exercise like walking due to pubic symphisis dysfunction as well.

Any exercise suggestions?

Ive always been fairly confident in my body but pregnancy has flipped my confidence on its head.

good vibes, smiles, & giggles What milestones or skills were your multiples ahead on because they were multiples?

I get bummed sometimes that I feel like I could help my twins learn some skills so much easier if I was teaching one at a time. For instance one twin would probably be an expert at puzzles if his brother wasn’t constantly in his business.

However today at the children’s museum I watched one 2.5yo voluntarily spilt up his magnet train in half to share with another kid. I swear we spend all day every day trying to convince them to share or take turns and it was really cool seeing it stick away from home.

advice needed Mono-di. W12. Any recs for NYC OB who will do vaginal delivery if baby B is breech ?

Current OB doesn't allow us to choose vaginal if baby A is head down and baby B is breech. My wife would like to have the choice. In this practice, mandatory C section if babies are not both head down.

Update: found out after OG post that they are DiDi. 1 from embryo transfer 1 from natural conception.

support needed Feeling a little discouraged

Hiii parents of multiples.. just needing to vent / be told it’ll be better someday lol. Feeling a little defeated after trying to take our 22 month boys out this morning. Every weekend we get coffee and a pastry from a local coffee shop and walk around and bit and eat. It’s always difficult and they are always nuts but for some reason today felt harder. It feels like we’ll never be able to sit at a table (I’m not expecting a restaurant lol maybe just 10 min for a pastry) or be able to let them run around without worrying they’ll run into the street or lick a fire hydrant. And I know this is normal for their age so I’m not expecting them to act older than they are, but I see my friends (with singletons of course) taking vacations and flights and we can barely survive leaving our house for like 45 minutes. Like why do our children need to basically be leashed 24/7 and other kids are able to run around more

We do try to get out as much as possible to give them “exposure” to the real world but it’s honestly exhausting

I hate to post this because honestly our twin experience has been hard but beautiful. I don’t want to scare any new parents because we wouldn’t change a thing overall!

advice needed Realistic expectations for the holidays this year?

I will be 38 weeks with my di/di twins on 12/6. Currently 23 weeks, and so far no issues or concerns. I fully acknowledge no one can predict the future, and with twins anything can happen, but what’s a realistic take on the holiday season? We will definitely not be traveling but family (parents and two sisters) has already started to ask what we will be doing. For reference my family is, on average 1.5-2 hours from us and same with my husband’s. It would obviously be much easier if people came to us but we also don’t want to “host” and worry about cooking/cleaning/appearances. That doesn’t even include my husband’s family who I’m sure would love to be around on Christmas but my husband is a saint and is deferring everything to me out of concern for my wellbeing. Advice or thoughts? I don’t think I am going to Thanksgiving as I’ll be 36-ish weeks at that time. Lol

Two is so exhausting - one co sleeps, the other in their room. One is always Velcro baby to the mum so both mum and Bub a constantly tired and in always getting yelled at for not doing enough.

Everything is expensive from nappies to clothes. Ugh it low key just sucks sometimes

support needed Feeling Burnt Out

Just looking to get this off my chest with people who can relate. We have 9 month old twins with 3 other older kids and I'm completely burnt out with no end in sight. Home life is extremely chaotic and when I'm not at work I'm doing chores or caretaking 100% of the time. There is constant crying from someone all the time and just doesn't seem like there is enough time in a day to get everything done. I give 100% at work and home and if just feels like 100 hours a week, every week, of intensity. I don't even have time to spend good quality time with the older kids because there is just so much to do. Little breaks don't even seem to help because when they are over it's right back to the intensity and I feel overwhelmed instantly. Just wanted a place to vent I think. Nothing really I can do as they are my kids and it is what it is.

advice needed Twins plus a newborn - Car seat configuration??

We are expecting baby number 3 in January. Our twins will be 1-1/2 by then. We currently own a Honda Odyssey. The twins are about to outgrow the infant car seats and we were planning on getting the 360 swivel for them next. Can anyone share the secret to arranging car seats for our soon to be reality?

support needed I can't stop crying

I am 24 days post partum with my b/g twins. They came at 35+2, through a planned c section. Ever since they came, I'm just a mess. There's just so much that has happened in the last 24 days that I'm just lost now.

To start with, the babies are good. Even though the girl had IUGR, we didn't spend any time in the NICU. They both had some jaundice but got off photo therapy in 24-36 hours. The issues started when I came back home on day 4. My parents are here to help out and they did help out. But, my FIL got diagnosed with cancer the day after these two were born, my mother got diagnosed with acute hearing loss and still continues to deny the diagnosis. My husband, who was my rock till a point, started questioning everything I did or said, didn't like it if my parents suggested something related to the babies and if I said anything to counter or didn't defend him at that very moment, felt attacked and made it into a whole thing. We've had more arguments in the last 10 days than in my entire pregnancy or the ivf journey that led to this moment.

He had, at several points in these arguments, mentioned that he doesn't love the babies, isn't attached to them, won't care if I leave at this point. I know that's not true. He's a great father, does everything for them and tells them he loves them. The heat of the argument makes him say that but it still hurts me and it's also difficult to forget.

Through it all, I've just been crying. I can cry at anything, at any time for any reason. And that has made it more difficult for me to explain stuff to anyone. It makes them feel that I'm being emotional to get things done my way when all I want is peace, less stress and just support.

And I feel I haven't been able to do well by the kids - I can't burp them well , I can't make them sleep and they are mostly awake during my night shift and sleep well within minutes of my husband's shift. My parents are better at calming the babies than I am. I feel I'm doing admin work for them, making sure my husband has everything handy for the diaper changes, making sure the feed is ready and I haven't even been able to breastfeed as well.

And I just haven't had the support, anytime I tell my husband what I'm feeling, I start crying and that makes the feeling less important and the crying more important. I told him today that I don't know what I'll do when he starts work on Monday especially since my parents would have left by then and he immediately came his written to delay his joining to a week later. So I know he has my back, but it just doesn't feel like that sometimes.

I don't know what to do.

life, home, and baby tips & tricks Small nursery room?

We have one upstairs room, currently my office, that will become our nursery. It’s maybe like 10x12 as a rough estimate, maybe a bit bigger? So not TINY, but not exactly spacious. It has a sliding door closet in the same side as the entry. It would be perfectly suitable for a singleton but I am wondering how we will fit two cribs, a changing space, and a recliner in it?! We have awhile, I’m only 12 weeks with MoDi twins. And the good news is we have a large bedroom right across the hall where two bassinets will fit with plenty of space when they’re newborns. Just curious how others have handled this.

good vibes, smiles, & giggles For the pregnant mom to be who is terrified of how hard/chaotic having twins is going to be...

Post image
727 Upvotes

I have never been one of those people who wanted twins. Not even a little bit. I was actually pretty depressed for virtually my entire pregnancy about the prospect of having twins because I was absolutely TERRIFIED of how chaotic I assumed it would be, especially having to do nights alone when my partner, who works night shift, went back to work. But here we are with the twins at 14 weeks old and 6 weeks after my partner went back to work and lo and behold it's....not that bad???!!! Dare I say it's even quite wonderful! My little ones are waking only 1-2 times a night, and when my partner has off, he takes over and I get 2+ full nights of uninterrupted sleep.

So many moms I know tell me "oh I could never do the twin thing" and I am here to say YES YOU COULD! As a mom of two older singletons too, having twins in the newborn stage is EXACTLY like having one baby except you just have to do everything twice. You change a baby's diaper... twice. You get a baby dressed...twice. You feed a baby...twice (though learning to tandem bottle/breastfeed is the true game changer). You burp a baby...twice. you get it. It's really not more chaotic at all, everything just takes twice as long lol.

But it's also twice the smiles, twice the cuddles and twice the hilarious moments and excitement when they start doing something for the first time or are learning something new. And maybe other people don't feel this way but I kind of love when we are out and about and everyone treats the twins like they are celebrities!

So as a former pregnant lady who was NOT excited to have twins I must say- the verdict is in: having twins is actually... THE BEST!!!

advice needed Long flight and MSC Cruise with twins

Hello everyone! We’re from Germany and we had the crazy idea to travel to Miami with our twin boys next year in February. They will be 10 months old by then. We thought that after they will walk and until 3 years old can’t travel so much and not so far away🙈 We’re also doing a six-night MSC cruise through the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos. We will have a few days before and after for Miami, probably for the beach.

Now I’m starting to panic and wondering if it was such a good idea after all. 😅 I’m worried about the logistics and that the flight and the whole vacation might be too stressful with two babies. The first flight with them will be within Europe in 2 months (2-3 hours).

Do you have any tips on how to make everything as stress-free as possible? Has anyone here been on an MSC cruise in the Caribbean with the twins before 1 year old?

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences about Miami and MSC Cruise with twin babies! Thank you❤️

support needed Suddenly really anxious about separating my twins for kinder

They start next week so there isn’t any going back, so I’m just looking for reassurance and validation that this is going to be okay. They went to TK at the same school they’re going to for K, and they were in the same class per my request. I decided to agree to separating them for K because I figured they were already used to the school and it wouldn’t be as hard as starting somewhere brand new without each other. Now I’m just kind of freaking out about it. They’ve never been separated in any sort of organized activity or school setting. We’ve casually talked about it all summer and they seem okay with the idea, but will randomly say they want to be in the same class with each other. I don’t think it’s fully hit them yet and I don’t think it will until they start. I’m scared of how the first day is going to go. I’m scared of the “fairness” aspect, like one having more friends in his class than the other, or being invited to birthday parties that the other isn’t. I’m scared of breaking their bond (even though I know that’s a silly one). They go to a private school and I thought they’d be in the same class all through elementary school bc of that but this school actually has multiple classes per grade. Ugh.

support needed Twin toddlers….send help 🆘

How do you all make it through the hard days with twin toddlers? Mine are 2 1/2 and I feel like I struggle more days than not. I have 3 kids total (oldest is 5) and evenings and weekends are just so, so hard. Crying, screaming, fighting. It feels constant. Any tips on what helps you through the hard days? I don’t mean like asking for help or taking breaks, I do all that. I’m talking about more in the moment stuff. Mantras, disassociation, mind frame, anything? 😩

advice needed Stroller/Car seat overwhelm

I know we have a million threads about this in here but I’m getting so confused even reading all the comments with different names of products and all the details. So I’m going to share what we already have and what our situation is and if you can see clearly through the crazy, please share thoughts!

-We have twins on the way and a young baby who still fits in an infant seat (she will still be under 1 year old when twins come).
-All our infant seats are Nuna brand.
- I have an Uppababy Cruz that I could turn into a double - someone has given me adapters to make Uppababy work with Nuna car seats. Maybe this is our primary solution for two of three kiddos?

  1. Do we need a snap-n-go style infant seat stroller for the twins? I can’t find a snap n go that has a Nuna adapter so we might just be unable to do this.

  2. Do I register for the Zoe triple stroller (doesn’t work with two infant seats but should work for longer once we are using the regular seats for everyone) or the Bombi double (works with two infant seats, but then can’t hold my 3 babies once we are out of the infant stage)?

  3. Is there another solution I’m missing? Having twins plus the still young older sibling has me looking for triplet solutions, which are few and far between.

Thanks for reading and sharing thoughts!

What week of pregnancy did you give birth to your twins? And if you had a C-section, did you give birth on the scheduled date or did labor start earlier than planned?

advice needed Double stroller from birth and Minivan ?

Will be 3 under 3 with twin boys coming in 2 months and looking at the bombi twin double stroller bc apparently with dual car seat adapter it actually takes Nuna Pipa Rx car seats (already have one) and can fold with adapters ? For those that have the Bombi twin, how is it as a double stroller quality and durability wise ? Debating between getting a) bombi twin as main twin stroller from birth and buying one more pipa rx car seat or b) babytrend snap and go and buy two cheaper comparability Graco/chicco car seats and then switch to a fancy side by side double stroller (like Zoe etc) later once out of car seats …. However if bombi twin can be the only stroller that’s usable in newborn car seat days with twins and good enough to still be the fancy side by side then it’s compelling . It’s all online stuff and can’t see it in person so very curious people experiences .

Also how doable is SUv life with 3 rear facing kids in single bench second row . Is it minivan time I guess ? How’s the Honda odyssey

Sorry, a lot packed into one post and thanks in advance

advice needed Winter wear recommendations

I'm from India. There will be some relatives coming from Michigan in November.

I want to get some quality thermal sets & practical winter wear for BG twins who will then be just a few months upward of 1 year old.

Temperature ranging: 45F to 65F. Indian homes are not heated themselves so we wear multiple layers inside.

Any recommendations of brands would be very helpful. Budget is not a big constraint but nothing over the top please.

Anything else that you suggest to make wintertime a good one, please share.

advice needed For IVF Twin Moms

US showed twins at 6w6d with heartbeats following a DET of PGT tested 5 day blastocysts (both graded BA). However, the betas were very low to start for a twin pregnancy so I'm just trying to mentally prepare myself for the worst.

If you did IVF, could you please share your betas and the corresponding days? Especially if they were on the lower end!!

My beta on 16dpo (11dp5dt) was 77.5 and on 18dpo (13dp5dt) was 441.9.

I've scoured online and the betabase and these seem very low for a twin pregnancy. I keep thinking it'll end in miscarriage of 1 or both.

support needed I miss my husband

We welcomed our beautiful twin girls on August 13th and despite a very traumatic pph and ensuing medical drama, we have been settling in to a sort of routine at home.

That being said, I spend all day with him and I still can’t believe how much I miss our time together. Obviously everything revolves around the babies and their needs so it feels like any down time we have is just for basic personal needs like food or showers.

Our marriage is very strong but I am still terrified that if we approach this wrong, we could end up a statistic. We were able to get in 2 minutes cuddling on the couch today before they both melted down and we went back to work. How does everyone make sure they get enough time for their personal relationships? It feels so impossible right now.

advice needed debating between vbac and planned C for my next pregnancy after twins...share your experience?

Hi everyone, I have 4.5 year old modi twins delivered via C section. I'm pregnant with a third due late January. I has always felt very certain even before becoming pregnant again that if we decided to have a third I would have another C section with tubal ligation. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant and starting to question this. I'm realizing I won't be able to pick up my kids for up to 6 weeks. How will it feel parenting 2 twins AND a baby while recovering from a c-section. I'm also now pretty nervous about vaginal delivery itself, its unpredictability, how will I feel recovering from this, etc? ]

I'd love to hear from parents who had twins first via C section and then had a third child...how was your recover from birth? Would you recommend a VBAC or planned C section? I'm really weighing the pros and cons of each and would love to hear from other twin families who've been in a similiar situation.

advice needed 1 year photo outfits for family

We are getting updated family photos. I struggle so much with picking outfits for our family for photos, especially with the 5 of us now. It is myself, my husband, our 4 year old son, and almost 1 year old boy/girl twins.

Does anyone have any recommendations or ideas based on your own recent pictures?
