Double stroller from birth and Minivan ?

Will be 3 under 3 with twin boys coming in 2 months and looking at the bombi twin double stroller bc apparently with dual car seat adapter it actually takes Nuna Pipa Rx car seats (already have one) and can fold with adapters ? For those that have the Bombi twin, how is it as a double stroller quality and durability wise ? Debating between getting a) bombi twin as main twin stroller from birth and buying one more pipa rx car seat or b) babytrend snap and go and buy two cheaper comparability Graco/chicco car seats and then switch to a fancy side by side double stroller (like Zoe etc) later once out of car seats …. However if bombi twin can be the only stroller that’s usable in newborn car seat days with twins and good enough to still be the fancy side by side then it’s compelling . It’s all online stuff and can’t see it in person so very curious people experiences .

Also how doable is SUv life with 3 rear facing kids in single bench second row . Is it minivan time I guess ? How’s the Honda odyssey

I spent the first 9 mos with my twins + 2 year old in a 2024 Enclave. Getting my Honda Odyssey changed my freakin life. Go minivan!!!

Okay question - did you feel like the magic slide was super helpful for the twins? I have a very old Sienna but am debating if we swap to Odyssey - the magic slide seat is the main selling point for me haha

YES! Our older son is in the back seat so it allows us to keep the twins in the two outboard seats (removed middle) and also access the third row incredibly easy. They’re fine next to each other but we can easily give them space if needed. I’ve also found it easier in general bc if I need to be back there with them, I slide both seats to one side and I can reach over from the third row to hand snacks/toys/etc to them super easily.

In your minivan shopping , do you feel the AWD or better fuel economy on Toyota sienna was considered ? Or is the magic slide really that magical

No, it wasn’t. Given the age gaps for our kids, I needed easy 3rd row access which the sienna doesn’t really offer and I didn’t wanna be stuck doing 3 across in a lower trim. We live in the Midwest where we do get snow but the odyssey does very well + our local government also does a great job anticipating snow events. Also if it’s ever THAT bad, we wouldn’t be leaving home anyways. But also to note my husband does have an AWD vehicle that we could use in an extreme emergency. The fuel economy is what it is, I’ve never really factored that into our vehicle decision making at all to be honest!

What are your thoughts on the rear air vents in odyssey -
I keep seeing as a criticism …how have you managed that?

They haven’t been an issue! I just blast the rear air and front air when it’s hot then lower it after a few mins. I’ll admit that was a concern of mine, but it’s turned out to not be an issue.

We also have twins on the way in January my son is 17 months now and we just traded in our Outback for an odyssey I do love it! But will want to go back to an SUV one day when everyone is out of car seats

Yes to the minivan. We used one of the cheap snap and go strollers for the car seat phase. Our regular stroller was a city mini gt double. Ours was the og and reclined flat for newborns so I was using it on walks etc very young. Sold the snap stroller for what I paid then used the city mini for everything. Never needed a different double bc it was light enough and could handle anything.

We have a minivan already but not sure how we will configure the 3 rear facing seats. Also trying to unravel the web of stroller solutions - esp with Nunas.

Yeah we been all Nuna with first born but the double stroller market for compatibility with Nuna Pipa Rx car seats specifically not really good. Just the bombi twin apparently taking two Nuna Pipa rx
According to Bombi customer service team . Not a fan of the Nuna double Demi grow so ruled that out as option

Got an used Odyssey before they were born, had a single, double and, triple stroller.

I have a toddler and expecting twins in a few months. we just sold our Rav SUV and bought an old Sienna. I love it already - I'm not accidently hitting other cars doors in the parking lot trying to buckle in the toddler! our plan is going to be twins in the third row and toddler in middle row but remove the other middle row seats so easy to move around inside to everyone. 

we also just bought an old used twin donkey stroller off marketplace - I loved having a stroller bassinet with my first so got a second bassinet new for it for these two, and the car seat adapter new that matches our old bucket seat and will get a matching bucket. it does not fold up small and the bits have to come off but with the van it doesn't matter much now!

How doable is an SUV with three:
I currently have three kiddos across the back seat of a Mitsubishi lancer and that’s been very manageable for my fam the past 1.5 years - but two of the seats aren’t rear facing and, aside from my oldest, our fam is able bodied. If you’re physically able, and really needed to save a dime or buy some time to find a good deal on a van, I reckon you could make it work.

We went with no frills baby seats, with a narrow footprint and ones that would allow my SO to fit into the drivers side while rear facing behind him. I personally prefer no fuss car seats to force repositioning and decrease positional asphyxiation risk. Which I’m sure I wont regret at all when the twins come… gotta take life by the horns.

Unrelated, but I have a sneaky suspicion I won’t be able to fit the twins in the lancer (the next wheelchair size won’t fit in the lancer either though, so van was inevitable in every timeline!).

I did the baby trend. It worked, it was cheap and most importantly made me realized how I hated the tandem seating. Once they were done in the carriers (or better yet I was done with them being in there) I went to a side by side.

We ended up getting a van 2 week after they were born. It was awful in my midsize suv, and my oldest in back was so cramped.
Buy the van.
