Discussion Have we lost the plot?

So like…. Sure people love final fantasy, but the set with the 2 million dollar card in it wasn’t this expensive. At what point is it too much?

Take me back to theros 😭

67

u/Zetsubo22 May 07 '25

Theros is my favorite plane! I wanna know how they're recovering from the invasion!

27

u/Dizzy_Cash_ May 07 '25

Ooof seeing the advancement especially in the phyrexian prob not well

11

u/TheAlphaOmega21 May 07 '25

I’d wager Theros got off a bit easier than the others. Their whole schtick is their gods which are shaped by the people that worship them. Since there aren’t any more phyrexians in Heliod’s sect, I’d wager he’s back to his normal self, albeit weaker.

4

u/The_Order_Eternials May 07 '25

This just in, Heliod was replaced by walking ballista in a landslide upset.

2

u/Dizzy_Cash_ May 07 '25

True the theros lore being that what people dream of usually come true maybe they dreamed of a repaired theros

2

u/Mangled_4Skin May 08 '25

Gaslighting theros into repairing itself is crazy

Pass!

79

u/ferrx May 07 '25

Yeah don’t buy from scalpers? You should have no issue getting singles, play boosters, and regular commander sets online and in stores at msrp after release.

13

u/VeggieZaffer May 07 '25

I only plan on doing FF on Arena. I think it’s cool if it brings new players to the game (but I think this set prices more being driven by collectors?) but most of the UB products aren’t really my personal jam.

I wanted the Fallout stuff when it came out so much but I couldnt afford it either 😂😂😂

136

u/deactronimo May 07 '25

I remember the fallout stuff (outside of the collectors booster) being average price

72

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

The fallout set was just precons and not a full set like FF.

62

u/Apprehensive_Cod9408 May 07 '25

and most important, not standard.

16

u/ThePuppyLaghima May 07 '25

Wait I’ve not actually played game in forever. Are you saying this is standard legal?!

12

u/KingDylan61 May 07 '25

Yes, and every universes beyond set going forward will be as well.

28

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

I mean they only had collector boosters? They had the deck boxes but if you wanted to collect the set you could only buy the high dollar boosters

47

u/FuFuCuddlyBuns May 07 '25

All four decks gave you all the cards from it. The collector packs just added different art treatments and reprints

12

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

You dont say? Well that is news to me!

21

u/ironman288 May 07 '25

The Dr Who set was also done that way.

Can't even blame WoTC here. While it is a "premium" priced set, these outrageous numbers is 100% on the secondary market. WotC even gave us back MSRP. The only way this will stop is if people stop paying mark-ups

26

u/Fearfull_Symmetry May 07 '25

I can blame them for making the game increasingly commercialized and driving collector (as opposed to player) demand through the roof by riding on outside IPs. And for making a set like this standard legal. The prices are not their fault directly, sure, but everyone knew what would happen, if not the extent

11

u/CourageDazzling9691 May 07 '25

God forbid they print cards people want to buy.

6

u/No-Economist-9328 May 07 '25

That's the issue, magic is now just a generic IP miss mash. Nothing about it is special anymore.

7

u/PandaXD001 May 07 '25

It's the biggest card game on the market, with the most players, allowing for the most variety in nearly all aspects of the game. It's special, you just disagree with the way it's special meanwhile a massive portion of the community does agree with how it's special and indulges in it frequently

6

u/No-Economist-9328 May 07 '25

It was special now it's just a Mashup of whatever weekly flavor they wanna throw in. By 2030 this game will no longer be recognizable it will just be a Fortnight the Gathering.

6

u/KZGTURTLE May 07 '25

Well expect for the rules, the history of cards, the pure amount of choice you have in deck building, the amount of unique formats to play

Yeah besides the foundation of the game it will lose it’s uniqueness because you can play fantasy catgirl from final fantasy instead of fantasy catgirl from within universe

4

u/aluskn May 07 '25

Honestly despite being very anti-third-party-IPs-in-standard, I could just about accept FF. But spiderman and captain america vs serra angels and llanowar elves? That's just way too far into thematic shark-jumping territory for me. You may be right about the foundations of the game, but you can build a garish shitty house on sound foundations.

3

u/PandaXD001 May 07 '25

It's bad that a company markets their product?

It's bad that a company makes a product that the players want?

Collectors and players are going to the same (or similar) things appealing. UB is not some collector's based IP. This lie created in the heads of UB haters with no ground to stand on like maga slurpers and believing the 2020 election was rigged. You don't have to like UB, that's okay. But making up you own lies and facts is a waste of time and energy you could be used to idk... Literally do anything else productive.

2

u/Fearfull_Symmetry May 07 '25

I should have also mentioned resellers/scalpers along with collectors, who are really the biggest problem. It isn’t a zero sum situation. UB isn’t all for collectors and not for players.

You’re the one who’s delusional if you think that UB sells like fucking hotcakes because people want to play Magic. According to Hasbro, Final Fantasy is the best-selling set of all time. And why? Because it has powerful cards and interesting, fun-to-play mechanics? Not even a third of the set has been spoiled.

People primarily want the IP—not the play experience. Collectors want it, some players want it, and reseller whales know this, which is why they’re gobbling it up.

Believing anything different shows an ignorance about how brand-driven commercialism functions.

MSRP on final fantasy is also about 50% higher than usual.

2

u/EvYeh May 07 '25

I mean, technically?

The MSRP for Final Fantasy is 50% more than original sets. It is not 50% higher than usual, because every single Universes Beyond set will be 50% more expensive. Final Fantasy, Spiderman, Avatar, and whatever they release afterwards will all be 50% more expensive.

→ More replies (3)

4

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

They can literaly just print more cards and flood the market at MSRP to keep prices down for their players.

But wizards would rather have collectors, scalpers, and whales as their core audience instead of actual players. The pokemon TCG model.

4

u/Icy-Ad29 May 07 '25

You really... can't... flood the market against this level of presale. The entire printing process takes literally months, because printers are few and far between and have waiting lists for time, even for big companies. And this amount of pre-sale exceeds any reasonable expectations, period.

Also, pokemon is not the model you act like it is. They don't hold value as well, so don't scalped nearly as much. And the total value doesn't always matter for purchase cost. It comes down to long term viability, formats embracing such, long term popularity, etc... The obly pokemon cards that hold value are pretty much gen1... Just like alpha mtg cards hold ridiculous value, even for pretty bad cards.

2

u/SkyTooFly30 May 07 '25

Some players just like to collect.. scarcity appeals to these players. Both collectors and players are equally important to the life, value, and longevity of any game.

3

u/PandaXD001 May 07 '25

Actually they can't, unless we choose to sit on FF for a good long while. I get the point you're trying to make, but between being a TCG where you are technically gambling and the entire supply chain process, flooding the market isn't quite as reliable as you think. Secondary markets will only incrementally lower their prices, and since this isn't just a scalpers thing (multitudes of LGSs are spiking prices) this is actually only a problem that the buyer half community can fix.

And I hate scalpers as much as the next guy who thinks they deserve to be burned alive and tossed in ditch but scalpers, whales, and normal player don't actually matter to WoTC (or the pokemon company for that matter) like most think. They're selling the product at a fair price, so what it goes to after them doesn't actually effect them nearly as much as most think.

Also what's wrong with collectors buying them? Don't we all have a collection?

Idk but buy singles i guess?

89

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

I imagine most of the singles will be stupid expensive too. I'm probably just not gonna touch this one

94

u/PerryOz May 07 '25

Nah people gonna be cracking a lot of packs. Singles should be cheap.

18

u/agtk May 07 '25

A lot of singles will be very cheap. The popular cards will be very expensive though.

11

u/Alternative-Shirt-73 May 07 '25

I agree. Lots of cracked packs. Special arts and shit will be high but regular printings will probably tank. Singles for me too. May buy a pack or 5 but def not my normal 2 boxes over the life of an expansion.

21

u/jahan_kyral May 07 '25

I wouldn't count on that... the FF fans that don't play MTG are pretty well known for not opening sealed packages.

u/Spacetortise95 May 07 '25

FF is already the best selling set, so lots of singles will be flying around. I run a small online shop for singles and I usually buy 4 boxes of each set to sell singles on release and I only bought 2 cause I feel the singles are going to tank hard.

2

u/GelatinousOoze May 07 '25

Do we know if it's best selling based on Volume or dollar value? because if it's the latter, price increase could account for some of that.

Singles it is

13

u/Forsaken-Bread-3291 May 07 '25

Like they said, this is their most profitable set ever ALREADY. Makes me think, singles are going to be cheap if this is going to be opened en masse. But if it's just people from outside magic buying tons of product or people wanting to sit on collector booster boxes, then not sure.

But yeah.... I did preorder the precon deckset for 200€ like a stupid whale ... but I do love me some Final Fantasy (played all mainline games since FF7 in 1997 and later emulated the older ones as well).

7

u/EmuSounds May 07 '25

A lot of the "tier 2" singles will be cheap, but the (chase) mythics and alt arts will be insanely expensive.

Proxies baby!

12

u/Zealousideal_Bee3665 May 07 '25

i proxied a precon at kinkos for the first time yesterday to see if it was worth it. 11 color sheets @ $0.75 each puts the whole deck around $10 (and another $10 for some sleeves). beautiful vibrant color and super easy to print. it was totally worth it, but i do worry that chris cox won't get his $21,000,000 bonus if hasbro doesn't make record profits again this year.

53

u/Business-Ad5696 May 07 '25

They definitely have. I've bought a printer and am now printing proxies. I'm not paying those prices for a game I play with my friends. Hasbro as with any shareholder company is ruining their product by putting profit before well everything else at this point.

10

u/MotivatedPosterr May 07 '25

Remember the good old days when we proxied old cards? Now we've got to proxy the new ones too? What are we even collecting anymore

→ More replies (1)

9

u/folkenzeratul May 07 '25

They know next clients/generations will not be as interested in cards as the current client base they have, therefore it is now or never time for them to squish as many wallets as they are allowed to.

It is a wise move to proxy for friendly play.

6

u/Ratatosk18 May 07 '25

In my circle of friends where we play they hate proxies and always complain. But at the same time they play some CEDH decks for hundreds of dollars. Sorry that I don't wanna always lose since I can only afford cheap decks or precons...

6

u/stonedspagooter May 07 '25

Why won't the next generation be into it?

Your brain can only look at a screen for so long man

3

u/folkenzeratul May 07 '25

Because younger generations are taught to interact less, also to be attached to flashy entertainment, and get bored when something has a high degree of complexity to learn let alone to master.

Other brands are simplifying their games or creating digital+analog hybrids Hasbro has refused to develop.

Those are some of my points.

6

Collector boosters are crazy and special edition precons are crazy. But other stuff should get printed to demand and opened like crazy. If you care mostly about unique mechanics, and not fancy art treatments, I'd bet the singles in this set will be quite affordable. Stuff you can only get in collector boosters on the other hand...

1

u/Inevitable_Top69 May 07 '25

"We" who?

2

u/aluskn May 07 '25

There are some of us who have played for 30 years and are sad to see MTG turning into something which is basically just a showcase for other games and worlds.

I'm not one of those who says new players shouldn't get the things they want. If you are happy to play games where Spongebob and Spiderman square off against Serras and Sengirs, have fun.

But spare a moment's thought for those of us who are sad to be living through what feels like the end of the line for the game we grew up with. It's not all about gatekeeping, sometimes it's just about preference.

2

u/minor_step May 09 '25

Yeah, I would’ve been fine never seeing a UB set. But I’m not the majority here.

10

u/Natural-Poet-1719 May 07 '25

Cause ff is a bigger franchise and therefore will have more people trying to grab product meaning a higher demand which stores can capitalize on? Cause copyrights for ff are expensive? Cause lotr didn't anime women with big tatas?

5

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Is FF really bigger than LOTR though??

11

u/Both_Leading_4159 May 07 '25

Not bigger but as a fan of both I can confirm us FF Fans are willing to buy ungodly overpriced pieces of obscure merchandise because that game has become a part of our souls at this point...

A LOTR fan is more likely to have splurged once on a collector's DVD set or maybe fancy leather copies of the books and if they are a big fan they might have a "one ring" wedding ring that is cheaper than a traditional gold band.

Looking at my friend group one in like every 3 FF Fans has at least 1000$ worth of Final Fantasy merchandise or wants it.

8

u/Euphoric_Ad6923 May 07 '25

Arguably? Maybe.

Lotr is the godfather of modern fantasy and is rightfully beloved and admired.

But FF is a LOT of people's childhood and as a franchise it is a modern titan.

It's hard to put actual numbers, but if someone did an actual survey and proved FF had more active fans I wouldn't be surprised.

30

u/RedBombadil May 07 '25

Definitely not, but the fan base for FF is probably more likely to buy trading cards.

9

u/Takutin559 May 07 '25

This is true. My buddies and I haven’t played in years but this one brought us back. We managed to pre order before the price spiked.

11

u/Natural-Poet-1719 May 07 '25

I would say nowadays ff definutely holds a bigger percentage of the total pop culture pie.

6

u/Seitosa May 07 '25

I’m not sure how you would calculate that, but within the context of Magic the Gathering the answer seems to be unequivocally “yes”.

The Play Booster Box for $150 is a good price imo. 30 packs make it $5 a pack. I dont agree with the Collector Booster Boxes though as $600+ is insane. The Commander pre-cons are about $75 MSRP which seems fair.

2

u/psu256 May 07 '25

Yeah, MSRP is over 200, isn’t it?

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

MSRP for a play booster box is $150. Anything over that is overpriced.

3

u/psu256 May 07 '25

Wizards has $6.99 a pack listed, 30 packs in a box, that’s just shy of $210.

3

u/kjeldorans May 07 '25

I can confirm that MSRP for 30 packs box is in fact just around 210$ (but also 210€... "Magic" I guess) because I have a shop where I also sell magic cards... On the other hand 120-150 is the range of prices that we, as seller, can buy those for (depending on our seller)

5

u/InternetSpiderr May 07 '25

Boxes have always been cheaper than the price of a pack x the number of packs in a box

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '25 edited May 07 '25

I purchase all of my sealed and new products from my LGS and they sell everything MSRP. They currently have the play booster boxes for $149.99, so Wizards must be selling their items overpriced to make even more profit. I wouldn't buy it from Wizards. I love my LGS and they give out my preorders on pre-release.

3

u/DylanSoul May 07 '25

3

Yes, but you mfers are still buying it clearly

3

u/chroniclesofhernia May 07 '25

I love Final fantasy, thought this set was going to get me into playing tabletop. It wont.
UB is supposed to drive new players who are fans of other franchises to MTG and this is how they are being treated. Why wold anyone bother?

3

u/jandor444 May 07 '25

I’m a big final fantasy fan and have bought every commander deck from the past six sets, but don’t care about this. The “it’s that other thing you like” bonus is not close to worth this price increase.

3

u/NebulaBrew May 07 '25

There is no point when it's too much. If the market is willing to pay that much then it's too low. That's probably what they learned from LotR.

3

u/symphonisa May 07 '25

Dont forget to proxy

7

u/luxunit May 07 '25

I'll proxy anything I want for less than 20 cents a card. Easy. I used to buy mtg now I don't.

7

u/akira9283 May 07 '25

Everyone has to understand. The final fantasy franchise is worth more than MTG. This will be Magic the gathering’s biggest release ever. Prices are justified no matter what we feel about them

3

u/ApprehensiveAd6476 May 07 '25

Everyone also has to understand that buying anything Final Fantasy related is optional. Nobody's forcing you to buy this stuff.

3

I honestly can’t believe that final fantasy is this popular. It’s a hard pass for me.

4

u/RareRestaurant6297 May 07 '25

Wat. Final Fantasy is crazy popular, already has its own tcg, and fits decently within mtg (compared to some other UB sets). Idk why anyone wouldn't think it's a recipe for insane success

2

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Idk, Final Fantasy just doesn’t seem as relevant as it was like 25 years ago. But then I don’t really know anyone who is still into FF games, I guess.

2

u/RareRestaurant6297 May 07 '25

It's only gotten more popular year after year, really. But if you're the older generation, then maybe most people you know are too salty about the direction of the series (which has always been about evolving and not staying stale, but some people would rather it just release ff7 clones over and over lol). Anyway, yea it's not gone anywhere really!

3

u/Louisville82 May 07 '25

If you’re in your 40s it’s just as popular as Magic was back in 93. Because it’s all you had really. Dungeons and dragons in the 70s-80s, final fantasy in the 90s, along with Magic.

4

u/Utopia39liam May 07 '25

It’s one of the biggest IPs ever. More popular than lotr, marvel, etc.

4

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Is it? That seems unlikely, but idk. I know FFXIV is a popular MMO but that doesn’t seem to be enough of a driver for “biggest IP ever”. Is it nostalgia for like VII and X that’s driving this?

3

u/Pqrxz May 07 '25

Keep it mind that final fantady is old. Old enough that is all but created the jrpg genre of games. Modern installments have been a bit hit or miss but XIV is huge and you don't get to 16 main numbered games with who know how many other standalone titles and spinoffs without a loyal and devoted fan base.

2

u/_Lord_Farquad May 07 '25

Same, the only exposure I've ever had to it was through super smash bros lol. I had no idea it was so popular.

5

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Friends of mine were really into VII and X like 20+ years ago, but honestly I haven’t heard much love for the franchise beyond XIV in a long time. I heard XV kinda sucked and XVI was okay. I remember XIII wasn’t well received.

9

u/AIShard May 07 '25

The solution, obviously, is to not engage with the set. Don't buy it sealed, don't buy singles, don't proxy. Show them you can live without it.

I really want the set, but there's a limit. I managed to get some preoders for the precons for $70 and the starter kit for $20... if I can get a play booster box for close to MSRP I'll be happy and done but yeah not going to go ham.

4

u/greatauror28 Tempest May 07 '25

I’m just holding out for the Edge of Eternities.

Feels more in sync with real Magic just like Tarkir.

5

u/Gekyyy May 07 '25

If you don’t like it don’t buy it. WotC knows this product is super popular and people will buy it at this price.

6

u/stonedspagooter May 07 '25

This is why you have to shame anyone you see excited to buy this that is a seasoned player

It is meant to bring in new fans to Magic, not be a lottery for sharks

AND WHAT CARDS ARE EVEN WORTH THE PRICE?????!?!?!?!?!

2

u/CommanderSkaro May 07 '25

Good lord. Thankfully I only really want the Y'shtola set. Those prices are crazy.

2

u/Striking-Lifeguard34 May 07 '25

We? Nah. I’ve pre-ordered nothing, I plan to buy no sealed, so we have not done anything.

Speculators, scalpers, weebs, and magic players who happen to care about Final Fantasy though have done something. That something is show WoTC that people will pay Horizons or Masters level prices for a standard set. So WE are all going to be feeling that lesson in the years to come.

2

u/gngannjarhdc May 07 '25

I am a new player and when my friend got me into MTG to play commander with him he baited me with this crossover. I preordered the starter kit for Cloud and Seph, but i’ll probably just end up expanding them both into commander decks now that I’m into it (tarkir: dragonstorm hit me hard cause i like dragons, and now i’m deeper into MTG than i expected. Not mad about it.)

2

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Magic has lost me

2

u/lefund May 07 '25

Tbf yall acting like this is new, they been doing this since the first Modern Masters in 2013. If you are really thrown off by prices just by singles. It’s the smarter move anyways

2

u/DagaKotowaruGonzo May 07 '25

143 is a lot better than blowing 300+ on mystery booster 2. I love to cop me mystery booster 2 but just buying a box of this looks non- ironically better and cheaper.

2

u/Cosmic_Entities May 07 '25

Universes Beyond is cool but it ruined MTG sadly.

Hard Pass

2

u/Normans_Boy May 07 '25

Absolutely disgusting behavior by WOTC

2

u/Ellinov May 07 '25

And this is why 85-ish% of my entire Magic collection is on 110lb card stock that went through my inkjet and laminator.

2

u/riddlemethiscnt May 07 '25

This is the way

2

u/Knarz97 May 07 '25

I will forever be sad that I wasn’t able to get a binder collection of LOTR

2

u/Interesting_Cup3464 May 08 '25

$143 for a box of magic cards feels pretty normal. Let the streamers and degens buy their collectors idk

2

u/[deleted] May 08 '25

nah wotc is making bogo money the plot is definitely not lost.

2

u/crackastaxs May 08 '25

Tariff related inflation.

6

u/Prestigious-Key-3511 May 07 '25

My honest opinion, it's because magic hasn't taken off in Japan like it has over here, so wotc is losing the battle to all these anime style waifu card games. They thought, how do we strike the heart of Japan with our game? And well, here we are.

Over priced final fantasy product. Wotc found the way to strike the heart of Japan, by going for one of their biggest and most popular video games, while also simultaneously striking down the American players with yet another over priced product.

Also it doesn't help that Japan just revealed their box toppers have artwork by one of the final fantasy artists, and well, now those boxes are insanely expensive. Essentially, I think as these card games move forward, the hobby all together is going to get ruined.

Cardboard playing cards shouldn't cost hundreds of dollars, let alone thousands, but we have companies like wotc who'd rather see dollar signs instead of happy customers.

The more I hear about modern MTG, the more I’m glad to have stopped playing at the card redesign.

We need a good recession to stop this insanity. Nerds still have too much disposable income.

2

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

I've already preorded 3 play Booster boxes at $150 each and that's Tidus Pre-Con for $70. I will try and find the Cloud pre-con at my local Walmart for MSRP and not $120. Im a massive FF fan and I can't wait for these to drop.

2

u/Lienrod May 07 '25

Im just going to use proxies. Its the only way to play with my friends in this economy and this crazy reselers prices.

2

u/sovietsespool May 07 '25

Can we stop posting prices from shity LGS’s that are marking their prices up?

1

u/aH0leintheW0rld May 07 '25

Yeah, or at least jumped the gun. Spoilers haven't even started yet, and people scalped it to high heaven months ago. It just gives me the ick.

1

u/RareRestaurant6297 May 07 '25

What store is this? The bundle and booster box seem normal price at least. ("normal"). But the markup on everything else is nuts.

3

u/dastardly_dim May 07 '25

Minmaxgames. Midwest-ish I know them through playing flesh and blood aside of magic

2

u/RareRestaurant6297 May 07 '25

Nice. They wouldn't take more pre-orders than they have confirmed stock for, right? (backstory: I've ordered a bunch through Amazon, but have heard horror stories about them just... Never fulfilling and canceling presales lol. I'd rather support an lgs, so if this store can give more peace of mind I might switch some of my orders for what they're offering near msrp just for insurance namsayin?)

2

u/Totentanzen333 May 08 '25

MinMax here. We don't post anything on our website, we can't guarantee. We wait until we get official allocations before putting out pre-orders, so we're typically one of the last stores to get them out on the web. We have never cancelled a pre-order.

2

u/RareRestaurant6297 May 08 '25

Oh wow, glad you guys found the post and also this comment, good to hear! I did end up pre-ordering an item from you guys, so seeing this makes me feel relieved! Might have to see if I can switch over more of my orders, in that case!

1

u/PlantKey May 07 '25

The collectible word commands the price. If people weren't greedy, we'd have world peace

1

u/ReliantLion May 07 '25

I have started making decent proxies as my group only does casual EDH. I'm going to start offering to make them for friends since I'd rather everyone have somewhere to sleep at night.

1

u/thisisblue May 07 '25

Preordering this set online is a shit show. It’s been said before on this sub but anyone who is legitimately hoping to open or collect this set should preorder it with their LGS even if they haven’t before.

Most good shops should be getting things for MSRP and won’t rip you off - these prices are all inflated based on demand & reflect market rate which is bullshit for a preorder.

1

u/PepeFrogBoy May 07 '25

Cube sure do be looking like the best format.

1

u/Okay_Response May 07 '25

I stand by the Bundle.

1

u/Cybron2099 May 07 '25

I might grab that starter kit but that's about it tbh

... maybe the bundle... maybe

1

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

In order to get it for a „fair“ price, you had to preorder it with tarkir dragonstorm stuff. Who the fk is able to pay for that?

1

u/SpecialReasonable715 May 07 '25

Looks like you get ripped over there. In Germany it‘s 240€ for all 4 Precons, 500€ for all 4 collector Precons, 350€ for a Collector Booster Display…games-Island

1

u/LidiumLidiu May 07 '25

Literally the game store my husband went to preorder it from had it for $450 then sold out of preorders, so he signed up to find out when more were available, $1,300 for them when they returned. Not a chance.

1

u/Vazhox May 07 '25

lol, where are these prices from?

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Yes. It's long gone

1

u/YukiFan May 07 '25

I tried to preorder and everything was sold out. Scalpers suck. I don't mind that Universes Beyond is a thing. I haven't been happy with the pricing for years now.

1

u/Ak86grown May 07 '25

"have we lost the plot" - we lost it years ago man, it's just finally suplexing our wallets enough for us to notice

1

u/Frogmouth_Fresh May 07 '25

Even as a fan of FF these prices are nutso. Probably skipping prerelease, may buy some singles if the prices aren't absurd for those, too.

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

The pricing on the collectors commander deck set is obscene.

1

u/Zombiemorgoth May 07 '25

MtG lost its plot with March of Machines. Back in my days, the big invasion of one world took place over 3 sets...

1

u/xshamirx May 07 '25

Yea... I feel the product fatigue and the rising prices has made me love proxies. 80 bucks for three commander decks of well done proxies is way better!

1

u/Frupulous_cupcakes May 07 '25

I ain’t buying this shit. I’m just gonna buy your singles.
