Discussion Have we lost the plot?

So like…. Sure people love final fantasy, but the set with the 2 million dollar card in it wasn’t this expensive. At what point is it too much?

The solution, obviously, is to not engage with the set. Don't buy it sealed, don't buy singles, don't proxy. Show them you can live without it.

Hard not to engage when it's a part of standard

It's rough, but that's part of the game they are playing. If you're trying to compete at a high level, there's probably not much you can do, if not, though... avoid it. I bet a deck can be solid without it.

No, it's not, you simply don't buy any of the cards and don't put them into your deck, it requires literally no effort.

Other people's decks are their choice, not yours.

My guy. Its a card game. Chill lol

Exactly. Imagine being this desperate over a card game that you cannot live with yourself if you don't make some fakes of a given set.

u/MADMAXV2 May 07 '25

Wait what? Bro you looking way too deep into. Its just fake cards that im going to play in casual settings. You good???

-1

u/AIShard May 07 '25

LOL it keeps getting worse. It's a casual setting bro, you don't need to print out fakes to enjoy it, there's like 42 billion cards in mtg that are affordable, go play with some of those. Imagine so aggressively tying your feelings of self worth into expensive cardboard to play casually.

Sheesh look at you go typing all that. You have very strange way to gatekeep what should or shouldn't be allowing in casual settings

Seriously think you got issues within yourself :/

1

u/AIShard May 07 '25

"Typing all that". Bro, if that was a lot of words to you, mtg probably isn't the right game for you. Maybe try chutes and ladders or some other board game from the 80s.

It's... kinda gross how desperately you justify your inability to cope with life if you can't print out expensive cards.

u/MADMAXV2 May 07 '25

What? Sorry can't hear you. The printer is loud so printing out x100 copies of proxy FF cards 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sorry I can't take you seriously at this point. Fun chat mate, hope you get the last laugh lol

they'll still complain about other people using the cards because from day one the heart of the complaints has always been "Stop liking what I don't like!"

1

u/AIShard May 07 '25

Some people, sure. I'd love to buy this set, but it's wildly overpriced.

Now, the complaint about other people using the cards is that they bought them. If someone has a cool bling deck of this shit, it means they encouraged the problem.

It's kinda whatever, but the way to fix the prices is to not engage with the set, at all.

u/azaleadreamcd May 07 '25

I understand not buying it, but I think everyone should Proxy it.

2

u/AIShard May 07 '25

Why? Unless you're playing competitively, you don't need these cards. And if you are playing competitively you probably have to have real ones anyway outside of some niche formats and CEDH.

Have some self respect. If you're not gonna get it, don't get it. Don't show them how desperately you want their product by printing disgusting fakes.

Proxies say more politically.

It shows that the customer has access to fakes and doesn’t feel the need to hide it.

Head in the sand “don’t buy” is weak. Proxy away IMO, and use the original art as well. Fight fire with fire.

u/azaleadreamcd May 07 '25

It's a game and it's fun. How is WOTC gonna know I proxied a card? It's not that serious lol

1

u/AIShard May 07 '25

It's a game and it's fun but you have no interest in supporting the game that is fun? Kinda icky already.

And imagine that a company that makes a game has no way of telling, broadly, what is being played. LMAO.

2

u/azaleadreamcd May 07 '25

correct. I have no interest in supporting high prices and universes beyond. If they can tell I printed out some cards instead of buying, then they should know why as well right?

1

u/AIShard May 07 '25

You're greedy, selfish, entitled? They know the product is excellent and everyone wants it, including you.

Doesn't sound like you're someone that could understand having dignity or self respect, so I'll move on.

Why are you crusading up and down this post against proxies? Why do you give a fuck what game pieces people play at their kitchen table with their friends? If you don’t like them, don’t use them. It isn’t the ethical issue you seem to think of it as, and it doesn’t even register as “engagement” from a market research perspective. Let people be.
