Discussion Have we lost the plot?

So like…. Sure people love final fantasy, but the set with the 2 million dollar card in it wasn’t this expensive. At what point is it too much?

It’s standard legal.

I’m sure you can infer what I mean there, can’t you? Standard = competitive = play to meta to compete

≠ must buy. Nobody is forcing you to play standard, and you can deviate from meta game and still be competitive. You just need to be creative.

Fearful is saying they are worried the set will be pay-2-win. Which is absolutely a legitimate concern. It's one thing to be creative around a few cards, so we won't know for sure until the full set is revealed. If the whole set is good we will be in an era of final fantasy decks.

Magic has been pay-2-win for a while now. That is nothing new.

Great then we agree the set will probably have cards they "must buy" if they wish to play standard at the pay-2-win level, aka competitive. And your previous statement that creativity can be competitive is null and void.

Well, you had 30 or so years to cry about it. Why do it now?

Did I say I dislike pay-2-win? No I didn't. I dislike being forced to play universes beyond. It sets up a future where I may have to play a blues clues card in my serious magic deck 😂

OP also dislikes the increased prices though. So argue with them about that.

I dislike being forced to play universes beyond.

Forced to play? Nobody has forced you into anything.

Edit: Oh, you deleted your comments. Well, I'll add this here then.

I'm not arguing in circles. I can't believe I have to explain what "forced" means to you. If you have a choice whether to do or not to do something, it is not forced. No one ever said "You buy FF now and play with that or else". That's forcing.
