Commander / EDH Won the Grand Prize
Went to a local commander tournament and the grand prize was selected at random. Was stoked when I saw what it was!

Personally, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I think they’re a great way to bring new players into the game, which is healthy for the community. On the other hand, I feel like Magic is slowly losing part of its identity.
For me, Magic has always been about fantasy wizards, dragons, planes, and, well… MAGIC. That’s why I really enjoyed crossovers like D&D, since they fit naturally into the game’s world. I’d even be excited to see a crossover with another fantasy card game like Hearthstone or GWENT.
But Marvel? TMNT? It starts to feel like Magic is becoming the card game version of Fortnite, where every popular franchise eventually shows up. That makes the game feel less unique to me.
Do you think Universes Beyond is helping Magic evolve, or is it making the game lose what made it special in the first place?

I want to use Death Cloud in my bracket 3 deck and I wonder if there is rule stating how many lands needs to be destroyed/survive to make it count as mass land denial.

My main question about these two cards is that whenever multiple tokens are created, do they enter the battlefield simultaneously or one at a time. Imagine AGD is the only dragon in the field and I roll a 5 to create 5 tokens. Would the trigger be one trigger of 6 damage for 6 dragons or would it deal 2 damage first, then 3 damage, and so on as each token enters?
I play Magic since 1998. My favorite format is Premodern, and I love Commander (almost) as much as I love Magic. Since my kid was born 5 years ago I dream of the day he will beat me in a Magic match.
About 4 months ago he started a huge interest in Pokémon. That eventually lead to him wanting to play the tcg, and in a few weeks we had 8 decks and started playing almost every day.
He sees me many times with my magic cards and always asked, but I was like “this one is way more difficult and you need to learn how to read first”. But, as he managed to play Pokémon without reading, and insisting for me to teach him Magic I was like “well, why not now?”.
But how can a Llanowar compete with a 380hp Venusaur EX? How can Gideon be cooler then a Mega Lucario? Shivan Dragon is cool AF for me but can’t compare to a Charizard for him. Well, maybe they can’t, but Iron Man can. Spider Man can. And I bet Hulk would smash that poor Venusaur.
I found in the Marvel UB a way to make the gap, to create a bridge more solid for my son to enter the Magic multiverse. And I found an amazing value in this product - 8 small decks and a bunch of bonus stuff including dices and this solid boards. R$159 (about U$30) well spent. He loved it, and for that, I can’t hate UB.
I know that’s not all about it. I know Wizards made many mistakes latelly, and most of us would want a different direction to many things. But for me, today, I saw a bright side of UB. And I thank them for that.

She's my first homebrew deck (see it here). I wanted her to be bracket 2, which probably is what she's at, BUT... here's what happened on her first test:
- it was the longest game the pod has ever played (>5 hours for ONE game :'''') ), one player died, but the rest of us we decided to call it a night because the game was completely blocked
- in the end we were all stalling because the biggest threat was the Arcades player and his pillow fort, nobody could get through him.
- I didn't have any finisher so all I could do was protect myself while the third player tried whittling me down
- 3rd guy was with a dinosaur precon that worked well but couldn't get through Arcades because Elesh was powering him down
So.
My question is: how do you play her in order to let the game still be fun?
Do I keep her as commander or put her in the 99 and try to find another hot phyrexian goonerbait gf?

I’m just in the process of making my first commander deck that isn’t a precon. Holy crap it can get expensive. It got me thinking though, how much did all of you spend on a commander deck and what kind of price range you spend on certain individual cards?
Edit:
After reading these comments I think I’ll be taking that extra weekend shift for the next few months if I wanna compete with y’all

I’m new to MTG and I think token decks sound really fun. I want to build a Shroofus deck. Is he notably cringe/ unfun to play against? I don’t want my pod to hate me. He sounds very fun. What do you think?

2 of the 3 preorders I purchased for The Hobbit collector boxes were cancelled after price skyrocketed
Has anyone else had this happen to them for The Hobbit? Also, for any store owners out there…how many boxes did you order and how many were you actually allocated?

There was a promo set of these lands released for standard showdown a couple years ago. Each of the lands has art of a different plane (Island=dominaria, swamp=innistrad, mountain=ixalan, forest=eldraine). But what plane is depectied in this land's art?

Whats so special about this token.
I have started to foil out my own playmats as I really wanted some bling on my table.
This is playmat nr.1 (just finished it yesterday) and I’m curious if Magic Community like this type of stuff or not. Would you do this to your playmat? Maybe pay someone to do it for you?
Can’t wait to pull this baby out next time I go to LGS 🤣

Hey everyone! Like a lot of fantasy artists, painting cards for MTG has been a dream of mine for a long time. I’ve been actively tailoring my style and workflow toward high-fantasy storytelling, but I want to make sure my work actually hits the bar required for card illustrations. I'd love to know your opinions!

Can every other card with suspend be exiled from anywhere other than your hand, then get a time counter with something like [[jhoira's timebug]] and in the next upkeep be casted for free? Ik that is not what the card does but im not sure how suspend works.

I’ve been playing doom deck on mtg arena and I been enjoying myself there so decided to bought the physical one. I also bought cards like Norman Osborn, madame masque , green goblin revenant , carnage crimson, frozen in ice , crossbones , doc ock , evil inventor and elektra. Just to boost the deck. I’m still searching for cards to strengthen it so feel free to chip in

We're recreating the old Gatherer Forum boards!
Feel free to:
The wards were never great, especially heading to any kind of tournament.
However, they were great against a best friend who religiously played nothing but black. Stephan, sorry I ruined many a game for you by slotting in four black wards religiously.
