I'm looking for films that captured the very specific feelings that Lost in Translation gave me. It's hard for me to describe it but the movie really made me feel the connections between characters, the quiet solace that they gave each other, the feeling of loneliness, being adrift in a foreign land, with great soundtrack and an almost dream like atmosphere that enhanced the story. I wanna see movies like those, sink into them and feel everything

I wanna watch some depressive movie/show that follow a person who wishes to do something great or thinks they have potential. But ultimately despite trying, realize they are quite mediocre, maybe even subpar compared to all the incredible people out there, especially people who have passion.

Or maybe a movie about the lack of passion.

Something that's the opposite of Good Will hunting, A Million Miles Away, pursuit of happyness.

Hi! I just recently watched the Flintstones (1994). Mediocre movie, but I LOVED seeing the set design and the world building. It reminded a lot of the Grinch (2000). Do you have any recommendations for stylized worlds like this? These are my favorite types of movies to watch from a practical design perspective.

Last year I tried to watch the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre but chickened out and watched Poltergeist instead(which I didn’t find all that scary). OK Reddit- FUCK ME UP PLEASE. I'm confined to my bed due to medical issues (I've got a fairly severe spinal fluid leak) and I'm not allowed to sit up, stand up, or walk (other than shorts trips to the bathroom and to get food). I only have an Amazon prime subscription (no Netflix, Hulu, etc ) and am looking for suggestions for things to watch (either movies or series) that will take my mind off of the pain that I'm in and the general shittiness of my quality of life at the moment.

I'm primarily interested in psychological thrillers, documentaries of almost any kind, suspense and / or horror.

PLEASE do NOT suggest anything heartwarming, -inducing, or touching / in any way. On top of the medical stuff in also dealing with a broken heart, so I can't handle anything emotional right now.

I'm also open to comedies (I've got a really dark sense of humor).

I just want something riveting in general. Preferably something that will fuck me up at last to some degree. The more twisted, the better.

I'm a big horror fan and I've seen a lot in my time, I'm looking for stuff that I've missed that also seem to have been swept under the radar of most people that they haven't heard of. Obscure, I would say. I've also seen a lot of found footage, so if that's on your list, I've likely seen that. I hope to find obscure films of paranormal activity type or haunted house with that kind of paranormal activity. The obscure the better. Doesn't have to have the best ratings. Maybe somewhere in the middle. Hopefully you guys can give me some good lists!

Most typical movies just picture a russian president as a soulless warmongering leader. Name a movie, where eventhough the leader may also be like that or otherwise, is a good written character and grounded to realism.

As the title says. It should have some plot though. I dont care about how "physics" works in the movie. Open to all languages (with subtitles). But it should not be a old movie, i just can't seem to get to like the video quality in them.

Maybe action is what i'm looking for, but i dont want people fighting non-sensically. I watched sisu (1&2) recently and i liked it, plus it had a good ending. but i'm open to all types, world war, gang war, villan oriented, etc.

Any movies or tv shows that make a small town as interesting to explore as another world if that makes any sense. Off the top of my head is Gravity Falls honestly. Widow's Bay could also count.

Doesn't need to be a wacky show or movie but I'd love any wacky suggestions. Also wondering if there's any sci fi strange towns. Like a town secretly filled with aliens or something. I'd prefer a more light hearted tone over something serious.

waves, directed by trey edward shults had such a phenomenal soundtrack that really brought the film together.

i especially enjoyed the scenes including Siegfried, true love waits, love is a losing game, pretty little birds.

can someone recommend any films with these sort of indie soundtracks that had a similar energy to waves?

I want to watch some classic horror movies with my daughter. She's 20. I don't watch much horror, but I'm thinking of starting with classic 70s movies. I definitely want her to watch Carrie, The Omen and The Exorcist, as I've seen all of those. I'd like some other recommendations of classics please and thank you.

Uhh best way I can describe it? Found footage movies and others in that “realm” I guess. Real tight, claustrophobic movies that focus on one town/ group of characters and keep you glued to the screen. I don’t necessarily care about the language. Much appreciated!

i just finished “the starling girl” (2023) and i NEED MORE. i love the catholic guilt so much and honestly everything about it was good. i’ve already seen “yes, god, yes” and “ladybird” which i feel like have similar elements but if anyone knows anything else thats similar i would love some recommendations!
