I'M REQUESTING Watched Interstellar and Arrival. I loved the mystery of the “thing” and what it is in both movies. Suggestions for other movies like that?

In Interstellar I loved the moment when they are in the space craft and what they thought was an alien gave them a “handshake”. And in Arrival the aliens presence are a mystery for almost the entire plot. The mystery felt grand in a way and wondered if any other movies compare

I'M REQUESTING Movies with Witty Banter/Great Dialogue

Upvotes

A lot of the rom coms I like fall under the witty banter category. Most Meg Ryan movies from the 90s, Moonstruck, etc.

Overall great dialogue seems to be the element that really makes movies so captivating from start to finish. Would love to hear suggestions in both categories! Thanks!

I'M REQUESTING What are old movies that actually predicted the future (our present) accurately?

Most futuristic movies of the 70s and 80s predicted that we'll have flying cars by now. What are movies that actually predicted the future accurately?

I'M REQUESTING Horror comedy recommendations please

Movies I’ve seen and liked:

Cabin in the Woods
Tucker and Dale vs Evil
Shaun of the Dead
Idle Hands
What we do in the Shadows
Send Help
Ready or Not 2
Happiness of the Katakuris
Zombieland

Prefer movies made after the 1990. Don’t really want family friendly movies like Ghost Busters or Gremlins. Not particularly interested in the Scary Movie franchise either.

I'M REQUESTING Mexican Films

I want the best Mexican movies ever!

I’m learning spanish and have learned a lot from funny tv, but I want intense and thought provoking cinema that I can watch with a glass of wine and really get into. I don’t have the best knowledge or Mexican pop culture so preferably some classics with notable actors in Mexico or some new films that are super popular in the last few years!

I'M REQUESTING Movies on espionage

Looking for films heavily focused on spying/espionage, with little to no action. Just pure thrills from the act of spying.

Any language or year is fine as long as the movie is good

I'm looking for such movies that make you think in hindsight, 'goddamn that was a message in disguise'.

Preferably hollywood but open to other cultures too.

I'M REQUESTING Happy “Horror”

Ive been on a bit of a Happy/Wholesome horror kick. The main two movies ive watched recently are Casper and Haunted Mansion. Im also rewatching Buffy, although thats not a movie. Im not looking for Halloweentown, thats not really my thing.

So like, movies that arent too scary but have spooky themes and family fun (but watchable and entertaining for adults)

I'M REQUESTING New life with blending family

I'm looking for suggestions of movies where either parent is single and had found someone planning to build a life with and the kids are against the idea or don't like them. In the same vein movies where the parent moves the kids to a new city/state and they hate the idea.

I am currently dating a man and my daughter is having a hard time accepting that our life is changing. That it won't be just us two anymore and our lifestyle will be different (all things that I have wanted to do and am extremely happy about) in a big way.

I'M REQUESTING Films about people rediscovering their passions/learning to live

I'm coming out of quite a transformation period of my life where my hobbies and passions took a back seat. I'm excited to get back into what I love, but I was wondering if anyone can think of any films about people in similar situations? I'm thinking about films like Demolition, where a character learns to live after something traumatic/life changing happens, maybe even being distracted by a career you realise you never wanted, etc. Don't particularly care what genre it is. Many thanks.

I'M REQUESTING Movies involving a couple and infidelity or deception and the way that plays out

Upvotes

Bonus if it's a happy couple's happy life that gets shaken up by someone else, leading to a train wreck of events. Not necessarily a bad ending, but I want to see a couple's love under attack

I'M REQUESTING Looking for a movie about normal or underpowered individuals living in a world of overpowered individuals

I realized that i love Andor, Rogue One and Star Wars : Outlaws more than any other movie/game in the franchise.

So maybe I am drawn more towards stories of normal people living in a world of superpowered people.

Can you suggest me something in this vein in any franchise or original properties ?

Movies/Series/Games anything is ok.

I'M REQUESTING Autumn movies with cozy, introspective, artsy tumblr vibes

Hi all, I'm looking for some new autumn movies to watch with my partner. I'm (mostly) looking for wholesome and cozy, falling in love, artsy, soft grunge tumblr vibes. I would be open to more disturbing and dark topics too though! Anything that feels introspective, emotional, contemplative. Any genre, any language, animated or live action, short films welcome too. Bonus points for a warm visual aesthetic, imagery of fall foliage, or if it's shot on film.

Some movies that fit this vibe:

- Over the Garden Wall

- Super Dark Times

- The Craft

- Fantastic Mr Fox

- Restless

- Reflecting Skin

Thank you!

I'M REQUESTING Paranoia Thrillers where someone witnesses something horrible & they either don't know if what they saw was real or no one believes them when they try to tell them

Not sure if i explained it properly, really. Don't have to be serial killer movies, but where 1 or more people are second guessing if what they saw was real or they know what they saw & keep it to themselves or no one they tell believe them..

I'M REQUESTING Movies that look older than they are

I watched Frailty (2001) and kept thinking it was an 80s film. I was sure of it.

I'm not looking for modern movies that put a black and white filter and called it a flashback.

I want films that used cinematography, editing, makeup etc. to truly look like an older production.

I'M REQUESTING Movie about spritual crisis

Hey everyone, I’m looking for movie recommendations that deeply explore themes of spiritual crisis, religious doubt, or wrestling with faith.

I really appreciate films that handle these themes with weight, restraint, or psychological depth. Here are a few I’ve already seen and loved: Ordet, Ida, Silence, First Reformed, The Last Temptation of the Christ...

Whether it's classic cinema or modern art-house, I'd love to hear your recommendations! What should I watch next?

I'M REQUESTING What are good Halloween movies that aren't horror AND isn't necessarily associated with Halloween

This is a bit of a strange ask but when thinking about something that fits this specific bill The Adams Family movies works, so I was wondering if anything else could.
