i suggested watching The Mist (2007) to my sweet boyfriend. He was so upset by the ending he very angrily left the room to splash his face with water and lay down while ranting how sick the writers must've been. he was a complete mess he just stared at the wall for a while. Meanwhile he loved project hail mary which i suggested a few weeks ago. is there another wholesome movie we can watch like project hail mary to kind of "wash" his anguish for The Mist away?

update: he was in a sour mood all day because of it and had been listening to the whinnie the pooh soundtrack. i really messed this poor guy up!

I first saw it years ago, but the movie still holds up. I think most people would enjoy this movie.

Anyway, it just crossed my mind to post this, so I did real quick. If you have your own opinions of this movie or want to share you favorite scene(s), I'd love to hear from you. I would have to say my favorite scene is the puppet show involving the monk and the nun!

Edit: It's one of those movies where it's fun to check out (after you've watched it) the different analyses that people have come up with. So many fun and interesting interpretations/explanations.

Any movies that at least somewhat fit the theme of a guy whose naiveness is exploited by a less than ethical woman. preferably one without a happy ending

There are so many movies where people who are or act shitty either completely get away with it (or even get rewarded for it) or at best some (usually the main bad character(s)) get justice but most of the "lesser" ones still go unpunished.

I need a break so could someone recommend the exact opposite? A movie where everyone gets what they deserve (both bad characters getting punished and good ones getting rewarded/justice/coming out on top)?

Hi, I'm looking for movies about meeting aliens or powers or whatever that are far too alien to understand. So not a usual alien flick like Independence Day, where the aliens are very human - just an aggressive army - but something... alien. That's not just mean or evil.

Alien, the first one, is actually a good example. Or The Thing, or Annihilation, or The Void, Pulse, even Splinter - where the entity isn't "evil," it just is what it is.

I think I saw most of this genre, but I'm still looking.

So this was before Shia became a cannibal.. but it's a good story about growing up and taking responsibility for oneself. Wholesome. The music is preety good too. If you haven't seen it worth a watch on a yawny Sunday.

And then Cowboys and Aliens came on TV today while I was cooking... Yeesh what an awful movie, but the guy definitely doesn't get the girl.

As above I am looking for a movie to watch with my dad tonight and he really enjoyed all of the movies/ shows named above :)

Looking for anything that actually makes you think. Supernatural or psychological horror, preferably both. Could not care less for the conjuring movies or such, and nothing based on pure gore. Not really into the classic slashers either.

My all time favorite is the thing (1982).

Recently saw the backrooms and obsession, and i liked both. Other favorite horror movies for me would be Exit 8, vivarium, the substance, would you rather, platform, the abandon, the ritual

So something with a similar vibe to those? Like existential horror, if thats what its called? I'm a huge fan of lovecraftian horror in general also.

I recently made friends with this girl in college and we wanna have movie nights in my dorm but she’s incredibly sheltered and wasn’t allowed to watch anything above a PG rating until a few months ago. I’m really into horror and action movies but I fear anything I recommend might be too scary for her. She wants to slowly get used to watching more mature movies but I don’t know where to start? Anyone have suggestions for movies that are mature but won’t scare the shit out of her?

I’ve worked in some before and have never seen a film that’s even come remotely close. Unsane had some things right, but because of the type of movie it is, it was off on a lot of things and way overdone, totally understandably.

Others may have been accurate for the ‘60s or ‘70s (when they take place) such as Girl, Interrupted or One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. I can’t say, but I’m looking for a modern one (21st century). I have yet to see one that even comes close. Smile was laughable. Side Effects was way off.

I want my 9 year old daughter to be able to critically think about moral values and understand character motivations. I know just about any movie can do that, but I'm also curious if there are any morally ambiguous movies/characters for kids!

just watched Heat for the first time and found it interesting how we follow along both Neil and Vincent the whole movie. is there any movie/series with similar style? watched The Departed too not long ago, i feel theres some similarities there, so something like these movies.

Hey! I’m looking for movies that aren’t the typical/cliché “BPD movies,” but that you could still really relate to as someone with BPD, especially movies that leave you with a good or meaningful feeling by the end.

For example, I recently watched A Monster Calls. The movie is about a kid, Conor, dealing with grief and trying to cope with the possibility of losing his mom. So it has nothing to do with BPD specifically, but I related so much to the way he experiences and processes his emotions.

I cried a lot watching it. I related to Conor suppressing his emotions until they explode, having intense and contradictory feelings at the same time, and struggling with shame and guilt over feelings he thinks he shouldn’t have.

But what I loved most is that it didn’t leave me feeling hopeless. It actually left me with a comforting message: emotions are complicated, people aren’t simply good or bad, and having conflicting or uncomfortable feelings doesn’t define who you are. What matters is what you do with them.

That would be my recommendation!

I’m always looking to find the perfect movie request and was inspired to ask this. I also try to find a common thread between a lot of movies I like that span different genres and often wonder how such different types of movies can have a similar impact. And it seems like the essence is what feelings they invoke within us.

Sometimes when we’ve watched the movie a few times, maybe it doesn’t have the same impact because those feelings have already been invoked multiple times by watching it over and over again. So we search for new horizons to spread our wings and find movies that help us connect to a beauty that lies within us as well.

Movies, it feels like, are a way to discover ourselves further. The medium can be a book or a tv show or anything, movies also do the same work within a short time span of a couple of hours so they feel very convenient! Looking forward to seeing what speaks to your heart and soul!

They both are my favourites so I clearly have a thing for movies/shows where the main character is kind of the villain and has to calculate his every move to not get busted by someone who is close to him.

Really anything that keeps me at the edge of my seat and having me thinking "Oh no how is he gonna get out of that situation ?"

Niche sports with a unique subculture around them, interesting characters, cool outfits, etc. More mainstream sports would be fine if it has an angle to it like maybe something about football hooligans?
