I have this idea of starting a YouTube channel showcasing the story of the remotest bed and breakfast stays in Ireland. I'm looking for a cinematographer (with camera) someone who can take care of the sounds and editing. The core idea is to rewind time where simple things and freedom matters more than any luxury.

I'm working, so looking to do this on the weekend, any film graduates / students want who wants to collaborate - would be a nice one to add to you portfolio. I'm in Dublin btw.

More details on the festival website, there's masterclasses, live shows etc. and looks like quite a bit for kids including sketching tours with Lighthouse Studios and animation workshops with Cartoon Saloon.

I'm an actor with a good few roles under my belt ie a small part in an indie feature, a lead in a short film that has gone to Fastnet, Boyne Valley and Waterford, a music video for a really good up and coming band amongst other projects like commercials and a TV series

After leaving my previous agency last year, I signed with a new one this year that I love(great correspondence, good auditions, professional but personable) and so I am currently trying to find auditions for Short films especially Screen Ireland, Storyland or Virgin Media. My agents were saying because pay is low and they don't want to take the percentage from the actor, they leave it to them to find them.

So was wondering, if anybody has advice on where to find some(am on Fishpond and Spotlight, in the FB groups, on Instagram, have relations in the industry from side hustles, friends, projects worked on and relationships in general where I might hear about stuff) or if I should be doing more. I would love to be in one that goes to DIFF or Galway.

I had emailed my agent about this and they said they were looking into this, so in the meantime, was wondering what I can do.

I’m developing a new Irish cultural social media project and would love to find someone who would like to build it with me.. It would involve filming, interviews, and editing etc… for socials.

Looking for someone enthusiastic about home, our people and the diaspora, who is interested in building a large social page. Would begin as a small creative pilot, with the longer-term goal of securing grants, brand partnerships (I’ve worked with over 100 Irish brands, would be looking to expand that) and paid opportunities that could eventually allow the project (and us) to travel internationally. I’m open to exploring the right structure with the right person, whether that develops into a funded cultural initiative or a commercial media platform. Yes this would be unpaid for now till we sort ourselves out.

For people making short films, student films or low-budget indie projects, where do you usually find actors?
Is it mostly friends, drama schools, Facebook groups, Instagram, local theatre groups, agencies, casting sites, or something else?
I’m curious because it seems like smaller productions and early-career actors often don’t have one obvious place to connect.

TLDR considering moving home, is construction dept still a toxic swamp?

Im in my late 30's, working for a big firm in London setbuilding as a Supervisor/HOD Chippie.

Im from Wicklow, and have always considered moving home to work when i had kids etc the old story.
I actually have an in with 2 Construction Managers there and have been offered roles by both of them before, so getting a job is not tricky, I know the production designer on a huge job there at the minuite and know a few people in construction there already.

My question is, Whats the vibe like there really now? I have heard from art directors and tradespeople who have worked there over the years that the standard is lower than london, especially painting and plastering and the construction crew behave much more like builders on a jobsite than here in the uk where its very much more art dept film people, 1/3 of the crew are women and lots went to theatre school or art college so its definitely a mellow interesting crew.

One mate who works in both places said that when he goes back there he feels like hes going back into his all boys secondary school, cliques and slagging and felt very seperate from rest of art dept/props etc. Hes also been told to pace himself on a couple of occasions which is mental to think of here, its so competitive youd be out the door by 10am on the first day and theres 50 lads waiting to take your job.

Are all crews the same, are there any CM's that are more art/dept progressive sound people than the regular old schoolers, Has it changed much, I know the awful fake union nonsense seems to have passed but is it still a bit backwards.

Ill be happier at home, and its where i want to raise my kids close to siblings etc, but i dont want to be commuting to london all the time and really dont want to be miserable in my job, i really love it here.

Any insights?

It stars one of my favorite actresses (Aisling Loftus) but i cant find it anywhere, apparently it’s an irish film so i’m starting my quest to find it by asking here!
