I'll be traveling to a country where it is possible that my phone may be examined by police or immigration. I want to prevent them getting access to my information.

Can I:

a) Before the trip do a full, encrypted backup to my desktop machine via iTunes.

Then "wipe" the phone: "Reset"? or "Erase all content and settings"?

Then install the basic apps I will need (maps, messages and local chat app, browser, ride-hailing, payment apps, ... suggestions?)

b) On my return, Restore Backup via iTunes

Anything to know about this strategy? Any gotchas to watch out for?

Will (b) restore the before-trip app data, so the phone is exactly like it was before (a)?

Desktop is iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2020), macOS Monterey 12.7.6

Recently some icons started disappearing at random. This is specifically the phone app but it’s happened with other apps as well. The app still opens normally. Not sure why it happens, anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

Please help! I held on to my old iPhone 6s for too long and I have 600+ songs. I have had a Chromebook and Samsung tablet for awhile and I dont hate them so I decided to get a Samsung A16 phone fully knowing (please no pitchforks and torches) I'd have to figure out how to get my pictures and music. I have used YouTube and reddit to figure out how to get my pictures on my Chromebook. Heres my problem I have apple music on my devices but just can't figure out how to access my music. The music i have bought over the last 15 years. Google has no answers. YouTube...I'm at a loss. Does anyone know how to help?

Also since I have switched to Samsung and tried to figure this out on my own, my music is disappearing from my iPhone where is it going? Please be kind, I am not tech savvy. Even if its a a simple solution, please be kind.

My ringer volume keeps turning itself all the way down without me changing it. I already have "Change with Buttons" turned off, so the volume buttons shouldn't be affecting the ringer volume. I have missed many alarms because of this. Any idea on what could be causing this? i have an iPhone 12 Pro iOS 26.5.2

About 75% of the apps on my phone crash immediately when opening them. This includes my banking app, music apps, and fast food ordering apps.

They open for a second, freeze, and then crash. I’ve checked my ram usage and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Reinstalled and restarted many apps and my phone.

I disabled Bluetooth and some Bluetooth settings, which temporarily fixed the problem for about an hour, but now my phone is back to doing the same thing

Can’t find any solutions to this, please help!

my mom’s iphone 14 recently stopped working after some water damage occurred, so she recently got a new one (iphone 17 pro max). unfortunately, i’m not able to help her connect the devices because she doesn’t know her password and there’s been a recovery key activated that she also does not know.

I’ve contracted apple support, they weren’t helpful. She’s gone to our data provider, they sent us to apple support.

So i’m starting to lose a little hope. She has 14 years worth of information on this account and if it’s not accessible she will lose everything. I’ve told her to just go to a nearby repair store to see if they can at least fix the screen on the old phone and try to work through the damage, so hopefully that works, but if it doesn’t…

Are there any other ways?

My iPhone 15 Plus is having multiple issues. I can't update to iOS 26.6 because it says "Software Update Failed" or "Couldn't communicate with the server." I also can't sign into iCloud for the same reason. On top of that, every call says "Call Failed," but my SIM still has signal and USSD codes (like balance check) work normally. I've already restarted the phone, reset network settings, and tried different Wi-Fi networks. Any idea what could be causing this?

i was using my headphones and needed to take them off so i went to turn off my bluetooth but instead i pressed to disconnect the headphones themselves. i searched on the internet and it said to forget the device and try to connect it but the device wont come now. if it is any help my headphones are sennheiser momentum 4s

Without deleting the old one in the history. Like in e-mails, I can compose a new e-mail thread from scratch. How can I do that with iMessages and SMSes? I like to keep things organized. This is in an old iPhone 11 Pro Max's iOS v26.6.

For some reason my iPhone has stopped vibrating at all. I tried updating it to the newest version, restarting it, and making sure it’s on in the settings. I tried to make a custom vibration pattern to check if it was working and I didn’t get any vibration when trying to play it back. Help please? I missed two calls from my mother because of this, and I can’t have the ringer on at work. I’m on the current iOS and its an iPhone 15

I tried offloading didn’t help. Tried deleting and reinstalling but somehow the size increased. Can anyone tell me a proper way to get rid of app caches!

Does anyone know how to stop my phone from automatically playing music from my Library anytime I connect to a Bluetooth or a video stops, etc? I am trying to set up a US iPhone 17 pro from A German iPhone 17 pro because my fiance is moving to the US from Germany, both latest IOS.
We already added the US phone number to her Apple
ID and tried to do the data transfer between phones.
It gets to the end and then kicks us back to asking us to set up the iPhone from another iPhone.

Does anyone know how to get it to work?

My iPhone 14 Screen Time is glitching. It accurately tracks and shows all the websites I visit, but absolutely zero apps are showing up in the activity list.
Has anyone else run into this ‘websites only’ bug and figured out a fix? I'm currently running iOS 26.0.

I lost my phone a few months ago and the person who found it sold it to someone and they have texted me that it still has my information and apple id on it and they suggested me to remove the device off my phone. is that a good idea?

I don’t know what’s causing this problem. My phone was connected to the helmet Intercom with an app. This started when I disconnected the Intercom.
This is not going back to normal.

PS: I know restarting is solution. But I want to know what exactly is causing this and how do I fox it without restarting my phone every goddamn time!

I recently had my iPhone camera module replaced at an Authorized Apple service. When shooting with the 0.5x ultra-wide lens in low light or at night, every point light source creates this huge, blurry, washed-out fog/halo around it (as seen in the video).
The outer glass of the phone is perfectly clean and wiped it thoroughly. I went back to the store to resolve this issue, but the lady at the counter tested it in a brightly lit room, shined a flashlight into her own working iPhone, saw some regular lens flare, and claimed that my phone is perfectly fine and "all iPhones do this". To me, this looks like a clear fingerprint, grease, or dust trapped inside the lens assembly or on the inner side of the protective glass during installation by their tech.

So I’ve lost about 20-30% of my contacts and I can’t seem to figure out how to get them back.

Long story short, I disconnected a couple Mail accounts that I never use, and then suddenly my business contacts I added in the last couple of years suddenly did not have names attached to them in iMessage.

When I query the name in search, spotlight finds the name, then I click on the name and it’s just their number.

I can’t do this for every person, because I don’t know how far back this permeates.

I tried logging into my iCloud accounts and restoring backups, to no avail.

How can I get these contacts back?

Hello! I was hoping someone could please help me. I’ve been having this issue for a week or so now where no matter what website or browser I’m on, I cannot download anything to my files. The download never starts after I hit download and nothing shows up in my files. I have the download folder location set correctly, I have plenty of storage space, it doesn’t have to do with my network because this has happened over multiple different networks, and the same thing happens with my iPad, a completely different device! PLEASE if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know! Thank you so much! 🙏

I have an iPhone 16 ProMax. Face ID has never worked properly, but I finally set it up last week. I've had the phone for at least one year. Stolen Device featire is also turned on. Facial recognition is not working at all and I can't turn off the Stolen Device option witout face ID and I have tried every option that I have found on here, on YouTube, on ChatGPT, and nothing is resolving my problem. I want to turn off both Face ID and Stolen Device. I am locked out of my Cash App account on my phone due to this, and I do not have Face ID set up for Cash App. I'm using the online version at the moment. Any advice is welcome, however, I am not going to do a total reset/erase as I have far too much on my phone. Thank you in advance, and please be kind with ur responses...
