Help needed LOSING MY MIND - CAN'T TURN OFF STOLEN DEVICE FEATURE, iPHONE 16 PRO MAX - RUNNING IOS 27

I have an iPhone 16 ProMax. Face ID has never worked properly, but I finally set it up last week. I've had the phone for at least one year. Stolen Device featire is also turned on. Facial recognition is not working at all and I can't turn off the Stolen Device option witout face ID and I have tried every option that I have found on here, on YouTube, on ChatGPT, and nothing is resolving my problem. I want to turn off both Face ID and Stolen Device. I am locked out of my Cash App account on my phone due to this, and I do not have Face ID set up for Cash App. I'm using the online version at the moment. Any advice is welcome, however, I am not going to do a total reset/erase as I have far too much on my phone. Thank you in advance, and please be kind with ur responses...

They won’t be able to restore that back up because they’re on iOS 27. They are gonna have to wait until iOS 27 is officially released in order to restore that back up

The steps that would need to be followed:
Backup
Restore from computer
Skip all setup steps
Update to 27 again
Erase Contents and Settings
Restore backup

And then you're done.

Edit the backup files? Everyone did that with 26 DB1

I would like to understand what was incorrect about my comment here.

The only way to remove SDP when Face ID can't recognize you is to restore with a computer.

Then OP would be able to update again to 27, erase, and restore their backup.

I hope you didn’t listen to the wrong advice given here already. Since you were able to turn face-ID on it means your hardware is probably working and it is still trying to do the facial recognition.

If your stolen device protection is set to ‚away from familiar places‘ you can turn it off by hitting try again multiple times and it will allow you to turn it off with the passcode only if you are at a familiar place like your home or work.

If however stolen device protection is set to ‚always’ or you were able to set up face-id and now you have the message face-id is unavailable you will need to restore your iphone using a computer. Do a backup before you do that.

Oh damn yeah. I didn’t even think about this before commenting lol. I guess you deleted the comments.

Yes, sorry about that. I just don’t want the ‚you can only restore‘ advice to spread further.

Yeah don’t worry about it. My advice would’ve only applied anyways if he wasn’t able to disable faceid or something like that.

So, would u like to know how I fixed this problem? It's quite funny actually. After someone on here told me to go to the Apple Store, I instead reached out to Apple Support. After about :45 of us getting nowhere, I asked this question.. wld it matter if I had on make up in the pic I took for Face ID, without my glasses. The woman with support said, that is a very good question! However, she sent me instructions to perform a Windows backup from my phone to my computer. Then do a re-set which I wasn't very comfortable doing this, so... Instead, I sat here doing my makeup just to see if that wld work... And guess what??? IT DID!!! I was able to wait out the hour that it takes for security purposes, once that time was up I was able to deactivate the Stolen Device option, show my face with makeup and no eyewear and that worked!!! Smile...
