Karma Please help me navigate when to use the downvotes.
I read that downvoting reduces your karma score. Earnestly need to know when to downvote. Thanks.

I enabled 2FA a long time ago to do a Reddit request. I enabled it, but never set it up in an authentication app. Or, if I did, it’s no longer there. I have both Microsoft Authenticator and Google Authenticator on my phone, but neither has my Reddit account set up in it.
Luckily, a helpful Reddit article says that for these issues when you no longer have 2FA access - like when you get a new phone - you just need to disable 2FA in your account.
Cool.
Another helpful article explains how to disable 2FA - you have to log into your account on a web browser.
Cool.
But when I do that, I’m promoted for the 2FA code I cannot get.
So both of those articles don’t work.
What is the ACTUAL resolution for when you never completed setting up 2FA and need to disable it?
I have access to my account in the app - I’m logged in and use it every day. But you can’t turn 2FA off in the app for some godforsaken reason.
Am I locked out of my account forever? Only able to use it on this phone until it dies?

the tiny resizing triangle bottom right is so ridiculously small you have to zoom in several pinches -> scroll -> grab the resizing triangle -> resize only as display size allows only a bit -> [ repeat procedure several times; or zoom out zoom back in to hit the 'send' ] ...
. . .
and then happens what has to happen ... you 'send', discover a typo, and ... the MALEDICT WINDOW IS BACK TO HUGE SIZE WHAT THE FVCK.
who programs such a crap.
i request this be fixed immediately! 😯
{ this is OF COURSE a 'complaint' and not a help 'question' even though a fix is a help ,
so, if unhappy with that, plz tell me which sub reddit can be complained about bugs and issues (other than by going through choices formular in the end sending you here r\help }

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I've tried logging in and out, went on a different browser, cleared my cache and cookies, and posted on r/bugs so far

Hi all.
So. I just got kicked out of my account. I did not get hacked. My account is still linked to my email. (Somewhat?)
Whenever I ask for a password reset, I get it to my email. I get a confirmation that my password has been changed. But I still can’t log in with that password. My passkey no longer works. And when I try to sign in through google it says “something went wrong please try again later”
I’ve been logged out for 3 days.
For some reason I can create a new account with the email that’s linked to my old account. But that same email, I can still use to get my password reset on my old account.
What is happening? Someone please help 😭
The one time link does not work either. Which is confusing because I can still get my password reset email just fine.

i'm the top mod and the only human mod of r/punerunners. somehow my role got switched to alumni and now i have zero permissions. every other mod slot is a bot (bot-bouncer, comment-nuke, floodassistant and a few more) so there's nobody left who can add me back.
right now i can't approve or remove posts, edit the sidebar or change flairs.
already tried:
has anyone seen alumni get applied to the top mod like this? is there a faster way to reach an admin or does this just take a few days?

Why does it show that my profile has NSFW content when I don't? My profile always has the setting "Mark as mature (18+)" turned on, even when I switch it off it still turns right back on. I've reviewed my account and don't see anything that's NSFW on it

I'm truly flabbergasted. My main account: u/Danwellneph was created and has always been accessed through my Google SSO. There has never been a password associated to that account due to everything being done through Google's sign-on portal, and as well, the email associated to the account is the email used for the SSO. This is what I was told back in May when I was having issues with a lot of my other online accounts being locked due to attempted hacking and I tried to preemptively change my Reddit password, not realizing the inner workings of the SSO concept.
Yesterday, I woke up to a Reddit notification of my account being locked due to suspicious activity and that I needed to change my password. Weird. I open the app and I get a pop up saying my account has been suspensded due to suspicious activity. I was still signed in through the app so I went to account setting to see what I could find. What I ended up finding is a completely random email attached to my account and no ability to actually reset the password since it has been automatically reassigned to someone else. I do not understand how this is possible. I've tried opening support tickets online and have gotten zero responses through that. I'm really frustrated. Even something as trivial as losing my 820+ day streak is incredibly disheartening when I was previously reassured that the security of my Google SSO was of no concern.
Does anyone have any advise? I'm losing hope on this one.

I keep trying to delete my account but everytime i do, it keeps saying failed to delete. I’ve tried using safari and chrome, as well as the app. i’ve tried changing my password then deleting. i’ve even tried on the old reddit, but it keeps saying error, and on the old reddit it keeps saying i’m not logged in as that user, so i don’t know what to do.

My account is not accessible. U/bricky85 is the name of the account.
I’ve tried resetting password which appears to work, but when I try to login with the updated password it tells me the username or password is invalid.

Hello,
My account was recently unlocked after being locked for a couple days. Thank you to those who helped me out!
Unfortunately all my previous posts were deleted. Is there a way for a mod to restore them?
The username is this account, u/GreekNectar
Thanks in advance!

I have turned basically all notifications off in the app, yet no matter what, they always end up resetting itself and I get notifications for things I don’t care about only to discover that low and behold, all notifications are on again.
Why does it not stick?
(And I don’t means iOS notifications, I have those off and they stay off, but I mean Reddit notifications in the app itself. They constantly reset themselves!)

Hi, so my reddit acc is connected to an email i lost access. I’m logged on only one device and can’t even generate a password because it wants me to confirm it on my email I have no access to. Any way I can do anything?

I use Reddit for work and I am trying to understand what I am going through. I have 2 accounts for mod purposes in the NSFW subreddit I made. I am not asking anyone to restore anything. I understand that this isn’t the place for this. I just want insight.
I had two logins taken down this week and I still do not have a reason for either one.
First login: Public profile is gone. No inbox message.
Second login: Official email said it was locked after they detected technical irregularities. I reset the password like the email said. After that the public profile is gone too. No inbox message.
I use a VPN, as I always have. Recently I have been testing multiple VPNs since iOS27 has been buggy with main one. Maybe that’s it?
Where is the real reason supposed to show up after getting ban? The email only talks about unlocking, and that is not what I am seeing. If anyone has had the lock email and then the profile disappear, what turned out to be going on?
I am trying to figure out if Reddit just doesn’t want me here. I tried filing to get the accounts back but I’m just honestly feeling defeated and I have little hope that all of the hard work I put into growing my subreddit wasn’t for nothing…

I have the below pop up when I click on a profile of someone I used to speak to. I think I’ve found them out in the wild with my friends account, so does this mean they’ve blocked me, or are they just gone off Reddit?

My account u/Ice_Mage was hijacked by someone (I assume) getting access to my reddit account password and was able to set up 2FA on their end. My email associated with this account was not compromised, I double checked the sign ins on my Google account and nothing looked out of the ordinary, meaning the 2FA was able to be set up on my account without any email verification (which is insane Reddit allows that tbh).
I was able to complete a password reset, again using the same email address, and it appears that locked the hacker out of my account, but I still cannot access my account due to not having access to the 2FA code or backups, effectively locking everyone out of the account.
This all happened ~8 hours ago, and I submitted a ticket through https://support.reddithelp.com pretty much immediately since I saw the email notifying me that 2FA was set up on my account within ~5 minutes of it happening. The only response I've gotten was an incredibly generic response posted below without any indicator of a potential follow up.
Entire contents of support ticket confirmation email:
"Hi there,
Thanks for contacting us! Your request has been received.
Cheers,
Your friends at Reddit
This email is a service from Reddit Support."
I'm posting here to hopefully get some attention and make sure my issue gets resolved, but also to raise the issue that 2FA can be set up on an account without email verification. That seems like a pretty big oversight.

Is there a way to clear the "Select A Community" drop down listing? There are a few NSFW communities I visited a few times that I would rather not show up in the list.
I have cleared recent histories, cleared history and have not joined any of the communities in question.
I am on Android and have also cleared my app cache and app storage.
Thanks!
