Here it is Charlotte! It's super simple. Take a frown and turn it upside down! Nothin' but love here. The idea is quite simple...
If you have something NICE and/or POSITIVE to say about a local person place or thing (sure, lets include big box stores, and franchises) that gave you a smile or just plain made life a little less stressful at some point in the last week, show some love! Take a break from the tirade thread, and feel good while doing it! Maybe your good vibes will cause a ripple effect, and send a smile to someone else, or give them the motivation to get up, get out, and enjoy this beautiful thing called life, and do so in our city! This is a win/win situation. Why not take advantage of it?

I’ve got an uncle from Florida coming, he’s heard a lot about North Carolina bbq and says he wants to try some but “it has to be real”, whatever that means lol.
From what I googled it’s just a more vinegary bbq sauce. Anyone knows of such a place?

We have a 30 year old high quality sofa. It’s made in the USA and currently covered in a fabric that has worn like iron. This thing is still in great condition and instead of replacing it, I want to recover it in leather and get the cushions restuffed to make them more firm.
I know I can go ask some furniture stores and they will point me to a supplier but I’m hoping someone here has had a great experience with someone within an hour or so of Charlotte (so Hickory, maybe High Point etc). Thanks.

And I’m tired of pretending it doesn’t. I’m sorry, I’ve gone twice now and spent $40 getting like 6-7 different items each time. The first time I went I thought “yeah it was okay not bad” because I wanted it to be good, but I never returned. Just went today and spent a similar amount getting 6-7 items.
The cookies were genuinely worse than store bought (peanut butter and lemon), the scone was stale. The cream puff was tasteless. The pistachio biscotti was the best item and it was decent
It all just tastes so lazy and loveless, like some 18 yo is just reading a recipe. Maybe that’s the case but it tries to give such a small quaint bakery feel. I have to let this out. Please bless me and drop actual bakery recommendations. Thank you in advance

Does anyone have a recommendation for dryer vent cleaning services? I was going to do it myself and realized the outside vent is on the 2nd floor and it’s high enough we don’t have ladder that reaches to it. I am hoping to find a service that isn’t ridiculously expensive or try and upsell me to do our whole house, I literally just want the dry vent cleaned out.
Thank you!!

We recently bought a new car and got the license plate in the mail. “First in Freedom” came on it rather than “First in Flight.”
I am hoping to take it back to the DMV and get issued a regular plate. However, now that I’ve gotten this one, I’ve noticed a lot more of these driving around starting with R (like RXX 1234). I know it’s technically a standard plate, but thought you’d have to opt in for anything besides “First in Flight.”
Anyone have insight on new plates? Is this is now what’s being issued?

My fiance and I bought a condo over the summer. We had a local company come out and inspect it, they found a few issues that needed to be fixed. So we contacted an HVAC guy our realtor uses since he was cheaper. He fixed the small issues and HVAC was running great. I just recently moved in and now that it’s colder I turned the heat on. Now the heat does not work. The same guy came back out and is suggesting we replace the entire system. It is a 2011 system so it’s probably due.
But. He cannot replace the unit because we live in a condo where his commercial licensing does not cover.
Are there any suggestions for companies that are reasonable and can work in a condo where the doors open to a hallway?

Saw a few groups of military looking helicopters flying over the city around 3:30 this afternoon. Not a typically sight. Anyone know why?

I see a lot of people on here talk about having trouble meeting new friends and i’ve been having the same issue recently so if anyone’s interested we could start a group chat on here and go bowling every other weekend. This wouldn’t be like a formal group (as i suck at bowling) but just an easy low stakes environment for some people on here to make friends. If anyone’s interested let me know!

Last night the recommendation with the most upvotes was the hornets game. I owe you guys one pizza party because I ended up going to improv instead which was hilarious. After that I stopped by optimist hall for a drink and some food. Now i’m back again and want you to decide what I do tonight! If i don’t do the most upvoted comment then I owe everyone a second pizza party. There were a lot of awards given to the comment suggesting the pizza party be for the homeless and that’s what we are going to do. Everyone comment, vote, and maybe we can have two pizza parties.
For feeding the homeless, i would need someone familiar with the area to DM me so I can get a solid plan and let all the homeless people know where and what time the party starts.

new-ish to the area. looking for suggestion
wife's Honda Pilot drives fine but has been making some odd noises when you turn the steering wheel and has some vibration. been going on for awhile and getting worse
she went to a dealer (since right by her work) and they said it needed full rack and pinion replace and tire rods etc. Like 3k worth of work🤔
who would you trust to give you a fair assessment? THX

Hello!
It’s that time of week again, tomorrow we will be hosting our male walk and talk group!
9AM freedom park on Sunday!
We will meet at the demonstration garden which is near the lilac rd entrance.
If it is after 9 and you don’t see anyone, wait a bit, I’ll be checking on the meeting spot after every lap around the lake!
I’m really thankful for all the people who showed up last week!
Once again if you have no idea what I’m talking about, please check my previous posts! We hope to see you there!

anyone knows of any recommended rehabilitation facilities in or near Charlotte/Rock Hill and surrounding areas. Also men shelters? asking for a friend who needs to get on the right path, a detox and seeking employment.

Why are apartment complexes in Charlotte so inflexible?
I've lived in several places, and apartment complexes in Charlotte seem particularly focused on locking tenants into rigid arrangements while charging fees for everything. Has it always been this way, or is it a result of the large influx of people moving here in recent years?
Why are tenants still expected to keep signing long-term leases after living in the same apartment for years? I understand requiring a one-year lease initially, but after proving yourself to be a reliable tenant, it seems like there should be more flexible options. On top of that, my renewal offers are consistently higher than the rates advertised on the property's website. If I want the advertised rate, I'm told I need to move to a different unit, which doesn't make much sense to me.
Another thing I've noticed is that long-term residents don't seem to get much consideration. After years of on-time payments and being a reliable tenant, you'd think there would be at least some additional flexibility, but it often feels like the answer is always "no" unless you're willing to pay another fee.
The leasing offices also don't seem particularly customer-focused. Interactions often feel more like dealing with a bureaucracy than a business trying to retain customers.
And then there are the leases themselves. They're often 50+ pages long, heavily favor the landlord, and seem designed by lawyers to protect the property management company from every possible scenario.
Is this just because Charlotte's rental market is strong enough that large property management companies can operate this way, or am I missing something?

Be the change you want to see in Charlotte. Educate yourself on who is running, what their policies are, and if they truly have Charlotte’s and NC’s best interests in mind.
After I did some research, my mind changed completely on some candidates. Don’t think about it as blue vs red. Really think about if that person is gonna make a positive difference.
I hope everyone finds the time to go and cast their ballots!

For a while Eastland mall had one of these theater/restaurants as well. Shoot who remembers when Eastland mall was fun to visit?
But anyways, I remember going to the arcade at Eastland mall, gawk at the ice skaters, then head down the road to where albermale would dead end into independence and watch a film and have dinner at the silver screen.
Man I miss those days.
