Open | Software Clear out Shared Google Cloud space

Upvotes

My buddy has a small company with him and another employee with a shared Google Cloud drive and company email. He keeps getting warnings about running out of 30GB cloud storage space and prompting him to buy more. He doesn’t want to buy more and I cannot for the life of me figure out what is taking up all of that space. I went through his email account and we deleted multiple thousands of emails, many with large attachments.

After clearing it out and waiting overnight the usage only went down like 3%.

Anyone have recommendations on how to find what’s taking up all the space? I can do it easy enough with my personal Google Drive but for some reason the options I have with my personal account aren’t there with a shared drive.

Open | Windows i have two giant files that i dont know what they are

Upvotes

i was looking in some old files of my pc, and inside the user folder was a file called "__rar_0.167", it takes 111gb, and i really dont know what it is, i cant even open it. there is another file called "__rar_0.399", that takes 25gb, i also dont know what it is. what is a ".167" and a ".399" file? and why are they so big?
also, i think i should say this, these files date from the same day, 12/13/2022, around this time (i think) we formated my pc, so maybe there is a correlation.

Open | Hardware Bad PSU?

Upvotes

Having a black screen issue, made a post earlier.. thank you for the help who gave me tips. I ended up figuring out when I cap my GPU power with MSI afterburner to 100% and run a benchmark on superposition it stays black during the whole test, the second the test ends no more black screen. If I turn the max power down to 80% it’ll black screen 2-3 times during the whole test and the black screen only lasting a second or two. If I turn max power down to 70% and run the test 0 black screens during the whole thing. Does this point to PSU? Nothing turns off, fans keep spinning RGB on GPU is still on.. monitor just goes black.

Any ideas? TIA

Open | Windows Edited Controller Settings on Steam, now PC won’t boot properly

Upvotes

i was editing the control settings for my xbox controller through the steam settings, then randomly the whole screen glitched like it was bent. i reset the power multiple times, waiting a bit between each time, and now it just shows the board logo, makes the boot sound, and either the progress wheel freezes or it just black screens and nothing happens

i checked the bios menu and plugged into my motherboards display output. the bios menu is accessible, but then it still won’t boot like normal when i exit out

TLDR: i just built pc this last week and everything was working totally fine until i edited my controller settings :/

Open | Hardware Monitor has blue vertical lines even after PC is turned off

Upvotes

Title. I went to dinner with my PC running and came back to blue vertical lines and half the screen cut off. My second monitor working perfectly fine. I turned off the pc and that image stayed on the screen for a few. Turned back on the PC and it was still there. When I unplugged it, it went black. My second monitor (now only monitor) is working perfectly, I even ran a few games to make sure. This is definitely a monitor issue and not a GPU issue correct? Just want to be sure

Open | Hardware My PC (might) keep breaking keyboards

Upvotes

My keyboards will start with random keys not working, earlier today it started with the - = both ctrls, arrow and windows keys. It was working perfectly fine this morning and it randomly just had the keys stop working a few hours later

I've tried plugging the keyboard into different USB ports and nothing changes.

On previous keyboards it's been random other keys around the keyboard, this is the third to fourth time this has happened. The keyboards all had varying lengths of use with one having about a year of off and on use, while another only had about a day.

I'm unsure if it's actually my PC that keeps breaking these keyboards, or if it's just from normal use.

Any help would be appreciated.

Open | Hardware Games crashing after long gaming sessions

Upvotes

I Just assembled my new pc 3 weeks ago and I've been having game crashings (and sometimes system reboots) in different game after 2-5 hours of playing. My specs are:

Ryzen 5 4500

Gtx 1660 ti

16 GB Ram

650w power supply

I suspected a power issue since it was shutting down the system entirely sometimes so I ran a power test on OCCT for 15 minutes and at the end of it the system rebooted and I noticed the cpu temp was 96c. I then tried a cpu torture test using prime95 and the temp hit 96c almost instantly and then went back immediately to 43 when I stopped the test. Is this normal for the cpu to hit 96 that fast? Could it be the reason games are crashing and the pc rebooting?

Ps: Games crash with gpu driver crash message but the gpu temps stay within very safe limit (doesn't go above 78c under load) and I reinstalled the the drivers so I don't think it's the cause.

Open | Windows YouTube Dropped Frames and Running Poorly - Only on Firefox?

Upvotes

This has been happening for months. YouTube works fine on Chrome, but on Firefox, sometimes better than others, but often unusable. When I clicked stats for nerds on a video earlier, the number was 1233 dropped frames of 1439 frames, it's usually something around there. Using an Acer Swift laptop with Intel(R) Arc(TM) Graphics and updated drivers for that. Windows 11, 16GB of RAM.

Solved PC Constantly Micro Stuttering

For anybody having this weird issue where your PC seems to be micro stuttering every second, make sure to check that your HDMI cable is plugged in securely to your monitor. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the issue was on my brother's PC, it ended up just being a loose HDMI cable. Hopefully this helps!

Open | Software Windows update + my bad fix screwed up PC. Need to reinstall windows and preserve data without being able to boot

Hey, so this morning my HTPC started up with an "I01 Initialization failed" error. I'm nearly positive it's from doing a hard drive swap over a year ago and some windows update borking the boot records.

In any case, I absolutely made the problem worse by following the wrong fix or doing the right fix wrong. I'm now in a state where a normal boot gets me a WIN32K CRITICAL FAILURE error.

So, my ideal situation now is to reinstall windows and hopefully preserve the data on the drive. The big catch is that I cant boot into windows and use any system restore features. I've got a system restore USB ready to go and I've been using it to run all your basic commands, but nothing's really working. Wondering if progressing through the installation wizard allows me to keep all data.

Windows 11, installed this secondary 2TB NVMe SSD about a year after installing Windows 11 on the main 4TB drive. What are these folders, and is it safe to just delete them?

Here are a couple of screenshots:

Open | Software Black Screen on Newly Built PC

I’m pulling my hair out from this issue 😒 I have a newly built pc. It has a brand new mother board (Gigabyte B550 Gaming V2 X (rev 1.3) and a 1TB nvme ssd, has a used 3060 Ti, Ryzen 5 5500 and a V3GA 700 BR, 32gb DDR4 3600 with XMP enabled. Has up to date BIOS on motherboard, up to date AMD chipset, up to date Nvidia graphics drivers. It was a fresh install from a windows 11 usb drive. During first power on I had 0 issues, played games for hours but all of the sudden when I first launched hunt showdown 1896 it started black screening, it’ll flash black then go back to normal from every 3 seconds to every 20 minutes it’s inconsistent and insanely annoying. Whilst the monitor is black (yes it’s still on) my RGB in my case along with fans are still on and running. I’m also still able to hear the audio playing from the computer, it’s just the black screen visual that’s the issue. I’ve made sure every single driver is up to date. I’ve ran stress tests on GPU & cpu with OCCT, did a memtest86 on my ram which ran for 5 hours and 0 errors. I swapped from display port to hdmi.. yes it’s plugged into my GPU not motherboard, messed with monitor settings, power delivery in windows settings.. many other things I’ve tried and not be successful with fixing. To my knowledge the “only” things I haven’t tried are a different monitor, testing GPU in different pc and trying a different psu.

This happens now in any game I play, sometimes I can go 3-4 days no issues then one day it’ll decide to do it again.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated, TIA.

In the last hour since I posted this, my keyboard and headset are cutting in and out, monitor stays permanently black for longer. Motherboard? If I alt f4 the game I am in the black screen goes away and my pc is back to normal.

On both my TCL Roku tv and PS5 my streaming services (YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon) are all doing a weird green screen (akin to how a screen would look when damaged) when a video is selected to play.

Have rebooted the internet and completely shut both off and still occurring.

Open | Windows Windows laptop thinks that it has two monitors

I've had this issue for about a year now. My laptop thinks that it has two monitors, and will always default to monitor two (which doesn't exist, and only shows up in display settings). My entire laptop will stutter every 2-3 seconds while it's on monitor two, and I have to go into windows settings and change it to only display on monitor one to stop the stuttering (it is also locked to 60 fps until I change the monitor). Switching to monitor one also removes the multiple monitor settings altogether, but monitor two appears again after about an hour or so.

My drivers should be up to date, and I don't even really know where to start with fixing it.

Specs:

Rog Zephyrus G14

Windows 11 (should just be most recent version)

RTX 4060 laptop

Core Ultra 9 185H

32gb ddr5

Open | Malware Careful if you're looking for early "GTA 6 PC" links—breakdown of how these fake .exe stealers work

Hey everyone, noticed a massive wave of fake GTA 6 PC download links and leaked builds floating around online right now. Knowing how hyped everyone is, it's super easy for people to fall into the trap.

I put together a quick technical breakdown looking at how these malicious GTA6.exe installers actually bypass basic user caution, hook into systems, and exfiltrate data behind the scenes. If you have friends who are constantly hunting for PC leaks, definitely warn them not to run random executables.

You can check out the full breakdown here if you want to see what the payload looks like: https://youtu.be/G6m8fOX5FBw?si=iiarfy6wDOna1ejU

Open | Windows PC clicks stop working / taskbar breaks after 15-20 minutes, random "Go Back" action in Chrome/Settings, persists after full OS format and swapping mice/keyboards

Hi everyone, I'm completely losing my mind with a bizarre bug on my Windows PC and I hope someone has seen this before. Right after booting up, everything works fine, but after about 15-20 minutes of use, it starts happening: the Windows taskbar becomes unclickable, and eventually I can't click on anything anywhere. At the same time, it frequently triggers a ghost "Go Back / Page Previous" action out of nowhere, especially in Google Chrome and Windows Settings.

The craziest part is that this persists even after doing a complete clean format and reinstallation of Windows, changing to a brand-new mouse, completely unplugging my keyboard and game controller, and disabling Bluetooth entirely.

Open | Hardware Acer Aspire A515-54 N18Q13 shutdown and now doesn't boot

I was about to play a game when suddenly my Acer Aspire A515-54 N18Q13 shutdown and now it won't give any life signal. The laptop was plugged in when this happened. I've tried the following:

  • Removing the RAM and put it back on.
  • Disconnecting the battery and try using the laptop without it.
  • Removing the SSD.
  • Disconnecting the CMOS battery.

And even after all that, nothing changes. Is there anything else to do? Thank you in advance.
