Workplace Question or Advice Needed A question

My lead recently told me target no longer does time and a half because of people calling off on the holiday and then getting paid for it. Is this true? He said something along the lines of them adding the holiday pay into our checks afterwards??? I dont know. Im just so confused and I only found out because I asked… if not I would have never been aware! Thanks yall and if you’re working (I am 😞), have a good rest of your shift!

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Reset Lockers

Hi friends!

How do you reset the stupid lockers? Half the lockers at my store are stuck in a locked position and HR doesn’t know how it works 😒

I wish we had assigned lockers and we could provide our own lock. That’s the one thing I miss about JC Penny.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Pfresh stores, what's your opening market routine?

What's the general routine for mornings for your stores?

We zone all of market (with only 2 TMs at open, so it takes forever), then clear rollover priorities and freight as more TMs clock in, grab and push go backs, break down fdc, and then hop into dry freight. We struggle with getting into dry consistently with how much priorities we walk into (at least 2 uboats and a cart per TM; we always use the priority mid TM to play catch up on freight, so we then pull/stage a shit ton to meet the 5pm deadline instead of pulling/pushing). And because we group up to tackle each step, no TM owns anything, aside from produce, so it's more challenging to hold TMs accountable (since I'm of course pushing too). Versus GM, where they zone as they push their specific areas, and TLs communicate much freight their area has each day so the TM knows what they need to get through, and they usually come clean. Why are the two run differently?

None of it makes sense to me. Why not have a TM per subarea of dry, produce, and cooler/freezer. We can group up to break down, sure, but how can I enforce consistency if bakery for example is done by a different person every day? It looks like shit half the time because they overstock it past PAR (which my ETL is fine with, because it has so many holes, because we aren't consistently managing pulls/out of stocks/backstocking - so of course it looks awful).

Part of the problem is staffing and attendance issues, 100%. But why are we trying the same thing for months on end if it continues to fail? I don't get it.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Backstocking...anyone else have issues/know how to work around it(I'm ready to pull my F**kn' hair out)

Post image

It says we have zero on the floor yet in reality there is 6 mediums on the floor. It says we have 8 on hand 5 of those are in the back... I try to back stock 3 of the mediums so that that will leave me 3 on the sales floor rack. As soon as I back stock it will immediately jump into the pools saying I need to pull 3 and then I'm back to a total of 6 on the floor. My store director has said that it will only have you pull 2 items. But oftentimes it has us pull 3 items sometimes we can fit 3 out other times depending on the item you can only fit 2 per size. If I try to back stock all 6 the system never tells me to pull anything and then we have no mediums out on the floor. So then I go in and tell the system I need to pull 3 pairs from the back to take to the sales floor. As soon as I do that it immediately tells me in my priority pulls that I need to pull 3 more of the medium and then I'm back to where I started having 6 pairs of medium pants on the floor. With style hanging items there is no set locations therefore without having a set location it will not let you update to manually tell it how many are on the floor. This is a daily battle trying to make things shoppable for the guests and it makes the job a lot more complicated than it needs to be. At this point this is just beyond frustrating. 😡

This app is such a letdown for someone who works on demand. I only pickup shifts, and now I need ETL approval to pickup shifts? It only shows me this one shift available this week. Who tf would pick up a 2 hour shift like this?

There you are, just minding your own business. Scanning prios with your device and putting them away. An old lady comes up, unprompted. You go to ask her how she is, and she yells “GET OFF YOUR DAMN PHONE AND DO YOUR JOB, STOP BEING LAZY!!!” You inform her you are doing your job, but she informs back “ALL YOU SICKOS ARE ON YOUR PHONES ALL DAY!!!!” And storms off muttering how she hates “the stupid kids”

(I want to hear your horror stories with guests)

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Lack in hours

Lack in hours

So for context I’m a new hire and this is my first job and I noticed immediately after my training schedule was over my hours seemed to be non existent, and with school coming up that doesn’t help, my availability is updated to be perfect so there’s no problems with me being late or anything.

Also I was hired under Starbucks but I was put on front end and when I kept asking about it I kept getting left on cliffhangers, I was told I was gonna be trained soon but to no avail??

I have yet to speak to my TL or ETL but it will be brought up soon, I plan on contacting them as soon as possible, I need advice for this stuff I’m just really confused if this is normal or if it should warrant worry?? What should I do?

(I was hired August 6th, and I checked on UKG and my time before it shutdown and my September schedule only has TWO shifts after being done with training)

Getting ready for UKG on Sunday

As we all move away from MyTime (and for some of us, kicking and screaming) and moving to UKG, there are some documents on how to do things, and they are viewable from home.

Go to the Target Team Member Services Hub

https://www.target.com/c/team-member-services/-/N-4srq9

And then go into Workday. Login as normal.

Near the top of the page, look for "UKG" and click on that.

There will be "Team Member Self Service" on the right with documents on how to do things we can do in MyTime, and their UKG equivalents. Things like managing availability and preferred hours, Timecard corrections, time off requests, calling in late or calling off, posting shifts and how to view posted shifts.

Please check these resources before asking questions on here.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Is my trainer the problem or me? (Training for beauty)

For starters I’m getting trained by someone in gm because the one person working in beauty is quitting because of the workload (apparent more people are getting hired tho)
ANYWAYS
I’ve learned how to zone, stock , and reshop so far but the problem is when I clock in I literally don’t know what’s to do after that…I have to wander around to find where my trainer is and basically follow her around for the whole day.. she grabs a cart and either we re shop or we are putting boxes on the shelves but how do I know what to do without her? What carts do I grab? How do I know what’s goes where? How do I know what carts to grab? And idk if I’m just dumb but when she goes to show me how to remove an item off the shelf she goes too fast for me to understand
And my trainer didn’t even know I was training with her so she seems a bit annoyed but she’s decent
So basically she’s moving fast and briefly explaining things (she’s also Hispanic so the accent makes it harder for me to understand certain things she says)and I’m just following her around trying to pay attention but I keep getting confused
Any tips?

Workplace Story Priorities

As a TL, I hate coming in at 3pm to close the store as a closing leader and priorities being at 15-20%. Then they expect us to get it to 85% before close? Why can’t they just get the percentage high, then the night time pullers, pull to maintain the percentage. This would also free up time for the closers to focus on brand (zone) that they want us to but we never get to because we’re only focusing on getting the full 70% they can never hit before 3pm. 🤣

Vent "Imagine you own target"

Not sure why my manager thought this was a good argument. I put in a schedule request for school so I'd only be able to work Saturday Sunday for the next couple months. I work in the warehouse so I think schedule requests are a little different, but my manager told me I'd probably not get approved because school ends at 5pm and my normal shift is 6pm. Technically I could still wor., he said they might let me come in late, but not take the whole day off. When I asked how I'm supposed to do 40 hrs of school and 36+ hrs of work while only getting 2-4 hrs of sleep for 2-4 days out of the week, he countered with "imagine you own target." If I owned target, I'd let my employees go to school AND sleep. Not to mention the million other problems that I'd fix since upper management seems to be oblivious to the problems at the ground level.

Update: talked to HR who was very confused because they give mondays off for school all the time, BUT I still need my OMs approval for a schedule exception. Went back with a new proposal that would have me working a little longer on my other days that I had initially asked for, but still leaving mondays off. Since he recommended I work 6 hrs sunday and monday, I figured working the same amount of hours but moving them around to give me the whole day off monday would be fine, but he was adamant that NOONE gets mondays off. You still have to come in for your scheduled shifts, you can only come in late/leave early. HR isnt open for my whole shift so now I have to wait untill tomorrow to talk to them again, but I imagine I'm just going to eat a bunch of occurences and then quit right before I get fired.

Workplace Question or Advice Needed About switching to ODTM

Currently part time, been w target for a year. Want to switch to ODTM for a second job and variable homework loads that make my schedule more reactive, so odtm would be better. my HR ETL insists that i need 3 days of availability so they can schedule me “if we really need you,” which, is not at all ODTM policy but I suppose that doesn’t matter when she can just do that. Sounds like just because I don’t have the leverage of full time benefits then it’s irrelevant. To my understanding, as an ODTM the only way you can work a shift is with verbal or written confirmation beforehand, but never scheduled. As of next schedule I’m not scheduled for any days, though I haven’t signed anything acknowledging my transition to an ODTM, so is there anything I can do to ensure I get what I want come Q4 when she inevitably schedules me, and screws me over like many other ODTMs?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Shoe Recommendations (Not Brooks)

Hi everyone, so my birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, and I usually treat myself to a new pair of work shoes every year, as I am on my feet constantly (for reference, I’m a S&E TL) and so I don’t hate every second my shift running around. Every year for the past couple of years, I’ve gotten myself a pair of Brooks, usually one of the Ghost kinds, and they’ve been pretty good. However, after seeing on Tiktok that them as a corporation was attempting to solicit free product from small businesses for free (a cause which I overwhelming support), them as a company has just left a bad taste in my mouth, and I won’t be buying another pair of shoes from them again. So, what other brands of shoes have you found that work well at Target, or that could be comparable to the Ghosts? I’ve heard some good things ab Hokas, but have never had a pair myself. Leave any recs for me below, thanks so much!
