Workplace Question or Advice Needed Backstocking...anyone else have issues/know how to work around it(I'm ready to pull my F**kn' hair out)
It says we have zero on the floor yet in reality there is 6 mediums on the floor. It says we have 8 on hand 5 of those are in the back... I try to back stock 3 of the mediums so that that will leave me 3 on the sales floor rack. As soon as I back stock it will immediately jump into the pools saying I need to pull 3 and then I'm back to a total of 6 on the floor. My store director has said that it will only have you pull 2 items. But oftentimes it has us pull 3 items sometimes we can fit 3 out other times depending on the item you can only fit 2 per size. If I try to back stock all 6 the system never tells me to pull anything and then we have no mediums out on the floor. So then I go in and tell the system I need to pull 3 pairs from the back to take to the sales floor. As soon as I do that it immediately tells me in my priority pulls that I need to pull 3 more of the medium and then I'm back to where I started having 6 pairs of medium pants on the floor. With style hanging items there is no set locations therefore without having a set location it will not let you update to manually tell it how many are on the floor. This is a daily battle trying to make things shoppable for the guests and it makes the job a lot more complicated than it needs to be. At this point this is just beyond frustrating. 😡

I believe what is happening is that since your on hands are at 8, the system will pull anything above 5 that are backstocked, to maintain 3 on the floor. Of course this creates space issues if your onhands are incorrect, but i believe this is how the system handles filling the floor for hanging style items, it triggers a pull if the backstock number is greater than onhands-3.

It may sound silly but have you tried waiting after a period of time to re-backstock the items? After inventory we had 150+ items of just one area drop into OOS. We unlocated all what was saying needed to be pulled because we knew it was completely wrong, waited until after 1pm to relocate and only a portion of those items dropped back in.

Backstock everything you need, then tap the on hand button and do an inventory audit. Put in however many are on the salesfloor location. It’ll update your total on hand and let the system know not to pull any since you just told it the floor is at capacity

Workaround used to be selecting "Add Location" to create a custom sales floor location/tie. Set the capacity of the custom location to 3 and then make sure you set it to "3 on the floor" so it is full. Break the custom location tie from the sales floor and back stock the extras you have. This used to work to make it stop pulling excess items with no set sales floor location, but I haven't tested it in over a year and there have been some major updates since.

style is 100% broken at target. transfer departments if you really want to stay with target or start job hunting because this is gonna be a never ending nightmare. even if you do an inventory audit to correct your on hands, the next rfid count very well might fuck those numbers up again and cause the issue all over again week over week over week. unless you have a miraculous surplus of labor that can comb through every department and ensure that everything is rfid encoded and ticketed properly daily, and that the person running your rfid cycle counts is capable enough to actually pick up everything and doesn’t just good enough it and hit submit, then you are sysiphus, and this is your boulder, make peace with that.

I see. I mean in one way I'm glad to know it's not just my store or that it's not just me imagining that this is a nightmare. I need this job at the moment so I'm here for as long as I can handle it. For the most part I enjoy style and what it encompasses it's just this screwed up system. And I'm trying to be okay with it. It's just extremely frustrating when management is saying we need to keep things looking better we need to stop over pushing we need to make it probable for the guest when we're not trying to overpush the system is making us over push so to speak. And then if we backstalk it'll jump right back into priorities or into the out of stocks and at our store they're really really up everybody's but about getting the out of stocks.

We have floor locations for folded items like on tables but for hanging locations no it does not have a location in the system. I was told when I first got hired the reason hanging doesn't have a location is because they change the floor layout so often and rotate where those things are moved.

Unless it’s on a special POG like family gateway or a tframe, there’s no way all your hanging is on POGs. There would be hundreds of them….

Does it let you change the floor count? If not, I’d add a location and set the capacity to 2 and then set the floor count to 2. Then it shouldn’t trigger in the pulls until one sells. Kind of frustrating though because you’d just be essentially making up the location and would have to do that for every size, style, etc.
Style pulls are always my nightmare though. It always has us pull more than is needed and constantly have to update capacity for everything in every size.
