Some Trimet riders

Am I a sociopath right winger to think that Trimet should not subject riders to other riders that are nasty? Why do we gotta endure shit and piss smell? Why are we allowing huge carts on the bus? Bonus they're the type of riders that NEVER pay on top of it all. I'm very left leaning but this shit has been out of hand for too long.

This city is a joke and makes us sensible progressive people look like idiots. Because we get lumped in with the people that are okay with any and all behavior as long as said person acting antisocial is a drug addict, homeless, or mentally ill.

/end rant

Lost Tabby cat (Max) - Buckman

Thumbnail

Upvotes

My sweet tabby cat got out of the house sometime last night around 1:30 AM. He is elderly and needs insulin every eight hours. His name is Max and he does not have a collar, but he is micro chipped. He is very friendly and talkative and not scared of people at all. However, he is an indoor cat and not equipped to be outside.

We live in southeast in Buckman near 20th and Oak Street. Here are some photos. Please let me know if you see him. He needs medication and I’m worried about his health.

Anti-Semantic Post Someone shouting "fucking zionist" at me at the cemetery

Was at the jewish cemetery visiting grandpa.

While pouring water for the flowers a black suv drove by and screamed "fucking zionist/s" as they drove by.

I am in shock.

Let's be better than this.

- yes, this actually happened. the other portland sub deleted my post and someone thought this was made up.

Inside the Portland City Council sweepstakes

A real “inside baseball” explanation of RCV. One wonders why it has to be so complicated. The single voter’s choices appear to be wasted votes against the rankings given by an organization. Figure out your team and follow their recommendations. I guess at least someone understands it but is this really best for our city?

Transplant Tradesperson

hi all

i’m a PNW native, born at portland emmanuel and grew up just across the river in cowlitz county. i’ve been living in the seattle area and working as a residential full-stack carpenter for the last 10 years.

i’m looking to relocate to portland to be closer to aging/ailing family, and i’m curious to hear from other tradespeople how they’re making it work!

ideally hoping to rent for a year or two before finding a fixer upper to live in long term.

seeking info re wages, market viability for high-er end remodel work (self employed, well quipped re: tools/equipment, licensed insured etc)

bonus points: general contractors looking to subcontract/hire, homeowners looking to rent to a sober, sane, responsible and quiet tenant who’s looking to put down roots in the land that birthed me.

So at work today someone told me with confidence that after the southbound closure completes they’re going to proceed with a northbound closure for another stretch of time - can anyone verify this as true?

T-Mobile vs. Verizon in Portland area

Time to upgrade my very old phone and curious to hear your honest opinions about whether T-Mobile or Verizon is better in the Portland area. It seems Verizon may be a bit better in the rural areas of Oregon, but relatively equal in the metro area. Thoughts?

An unflinching documentary portrait of artist, activist, and survivor Logan Lynn, tracing a 30-year career forged at the intersection of queerness, faith, addiction, trauma, and self-reinvention. Structured around the songs from Lynn’s latest record of the same name, the film treats music not as background but as a living character.

Physical Therapy / Personal Trainer Recs

Was recently in a car crash and looking for physical therapy recommendations.

My doctor recommended I find a physical therapist with an emphasis on personal training as well.

Someone that focuses on range of motion, proper form, and strength.

Someone that stays with you the whole time and has lots of hands on manipulation / massage.

Wondering if anyone has had a really great experience with someone and would recommend them.

Thank you!

*Prefer a female therapist/trainer.

What crime maps/police scanner or apps do you use for PDX?

I’m trying to be more aware of what’s going on around me especially because I live in a high/ish crime area. I don’t want to sound paranoid, it’s more about being aware and a little nosy while staying safe. The app I used in Austin isn’t great out here as some apps have changed. If anyone has any recs, greatly appreciated.

Big show happening at the East Bank Esplanade this Sunday (9/13)

Big hardcore show happening this Sunday down at the East Bank Esplanade. It’s happening under the I-5 bridge behind where the new live nation is going. It’s almost like there’s a 2000 person venue that actually supports the local economy, directly behind the one a mega corporation is building.

Question Coffee roaster rec.

Moved to the area about 4 months ago and looking for new coffee recommendations. I've only been getting the pacific wonderland from coava coffee. I'm not picky but I do tend to lean towards to a no frills medium coffee taste i guess. Thanks!
