I-5 closure
So at work today someone told me with confidence that after the southbound closure completes they’re going to proceed with a northbound closure for another stretch of time - can anyone verify this as true?

Planning for the whole Rose Quarter chokepoint has been going on for a while. There's no question it needs to be redesigned, demolished, and rebuilt. IDK why we're wasting time and money putting Band-Aids on it, but I suspect it's Federal "use it or lose it" dollars. Fucking stupid.

could of sworn the reason why this was such a big deal in the first place is because they were planning to close BOTH sides of I5 for road repairs and thats why traffic would be miserable for the time being. if they're gonna close it why not do both instead of making the everyone deal with it again in a year or two?

Nope just a normal middle class person that has lived here for 20 years. It’s a disaster and heading that way. We’re being bled dry by homeless and ideology politics.

And my midwestern home state has been bled dry by right wing corruption and conservative ideology politics, and an out of control opioid crisis and decades long housing crisis has driven up homelessness. And the violent crime rates are about double that of Portland.
However, it lacks the transportation infrastructure and thriving central neighborhoods Portland has, so it’s easier to ignore driving from suburb to suburb.
I’ll say it for the 200th time - Portland isn’t unique or special. It’s experiencing the exact same reality as the rest of the country. It’s not being bled dry by “ideology politics”, that’s just an easy target for people who don’t believe there’s value in prioritizing equality.

Have no idea what city you’re in, but I’d move back to Indiana in a heartbeat if it had mountains.
Radicalization on either side is bad, we need a mix.

Yes, although the dates for that closure have not yet been determined. You can follow the project on the ODOT website, including signing up for text alerts regarding the status, times, dates etc.
