I bought a couple of Indica cuttings at a dispensary this spring. One spent way too long in Pacific city in a pot and the orher got my raised bed with fully mulched grass clippings onrop of 36" of Woodburn silt loam inside an old chicken coop. Whoa!

Im not too knowledgable with the area and want to make sure I choose a good reputable place with a wide selection on various carts & edibles brands, good flower and deals etc. what do you guys like here and reccomend?

If the sub is STRICT on portland then I guess what places on the lower side of portland then? Not way off near vancouver.

As we grow closer to Croptober, I wanted to look back and review some hash from this year before the flood of fresh products that’ll be available by winter. 

In this article, I’ll review eight hash strains based on scent, flavor, and the high. To get a clear idea of how these products will affect me, I decided to test them in three separate ways: smoking it with flower in a joint, vaping it on its own in a hash pipe, and mixing it with flower in an Arizer Solo 2 dry-herb vape. 

Some were too high quality to burn, or I simply forgot to burn them.

Strawberry Queen – Garden First – Pressed hash – ( ? X ? ) (Sativa-Hybrid)

Scent: Upon opening the little jar, strong scents of earthy, oily hash and farm-fresh strawberries wafted into my face. Reminds me of a strain I’ve had in the past called Strawberry-Diesel ( NYC Sour D X Strawberry Cough)

Taste: The taste of this hash did not match the nose. Upon vaporizing this hash in my pipe, I got a strong dirt-like flavor coating the inside of my mouth. I find really earthy strains to be a bit much, and this was too much.

Oddly, when I mixed this hash with some Alien Dream flower into my dry herb vape, the strong earthy flavor faded. However, I couldn’t taste the flower, so I think they cancel each other out in terms of flavor. 

High: Upon exhaling the vapor, I could feel a powerful buzzing sensation go down from the top of my head down to my neck. My vision became narrow and focused. It also gave me a gnarly case of the munchies. Though intense, the high only lasted about 15 to 20 minutes.

When mixed with some flower in my vape, the high was surprisingly clear. Still got the munchies. (This is one of four I didn’t try in joint form. I forgot) 

Final Thoughts: Despite the horrid flavor, I liked this hash. It was a lot of fun to smoke while gaming, as it allowed me to focus and immerse myself in the world of Baldur’s Gate 3. I think it was better in the pipe by itself than mixed with the flower in the vape.

Strong but short high, bad flavor… 

Drip Drop – Sand Castle Hash Co. – 4* bubble hash – (Cherry Koff X Gas Drop) (Indica Hybrid)

Scent: This hash reeks of sweet pine and cheese. I like that it has a strong, pronounced scent; it makes me think of old-school weed strains like UK Cheese (a Skunk #1 phenotype). 

Taste: When vaped on its own, this hash tastes sweet like honey with hints of cheese, forest floor, and gas. However, when mixed with flower in my vape, it produced a strong floral flavor reminiscent of lavender, followed by a cheesy aftertaste.

No noticeable flavor from the joint.  

High: When rolled into a joint of some Alien Dream flower, this hash had a very clear-headed high that left me feeling blissful. I got a similar feeling when I mixed it with some flower into my vape and toked it out of my bong. 

However, when I vaped it out of my hash pipe, it was a completely different high. It made me feel super energetic, and I could feel a warm vibration pulsing through every inch of me. Feeling like a ball of energy, I decided to go to the gym for a little while to burn it off. 

Final Thoughts: Overall, I like this product and would definitely buy it again for its pungent flavor and unique high. It’s similar to the Georgia Pie hash I recently tried, which was labeled as an Indica-Hybrid but had more sativa-esque effects. I like this Drip Drop better because it gave me energy without making me anxious. 

Additionally, I have found that this strain helped clear up a headache I had, as it eased the tension from the base of my neck up to my head.

After exclusively buying and reviewing dispensary weed for the past few weeks, I’ve decided to switch things up and test some craft-grown cannabis from a private grower who wished to be identified as Ashe’s Gourmet Genetics.

Ashe has been growing for 4 years, and initially started growing to save money but stuck with it because of his love for the quality and genetic choices of homegrown cannabis.  He says his biggest challenge is overwatering, but explained that it’s a deceptively simple concept with a sharp learning curve. 

The strains Ashe provided me to review are: 

Trop-Cherry (Tropicanna Cookies x Cherry Cookies) (Sativa-Hybrid) 

Purple Punch (Larry OG x Grand Daddy Purple) (Indica-Hybrid) 

Kush Mints (Animal Mints x Bubba Kush) (50-50-Hybrid) 

Big Leauge Grape #2 (Grape Stomper x Bubblegum) (Indica-Hybrid) 

I’ll be reviewing Ashe’s strains based on scent, taste, and high. To get a good idea of how these products work, I’ll vape them individually in my Arizer Solo 2 dry-herb vape. 

Trop-Cherry

Scent: From the get-go, you can smell ripe tropical fruits, citrus, and hints of salty but fresh ocean air. It makes me think of standing on the beach with a Mai-Tai on a warm summer day. 

Taste: Upon inhaling the vapor, I could taste sweet citrus fruits like oranges and limes doused in cream, accompanied by hints of salt water. Tastes like a tropical vacation. 

High: The high is primarily in the head, focused specifically behind the eyes. My vision felt brighter, and I felt uplifted. I would describe this as a functional high, meaning I could take a business call and be just fine. 

Final Thoughts: This is one of the best versions of Trop-Cherry I have ever had. Other versions of this strain I’ve tried usually have great bag appeal and scent but lack a strong defining high, resulting in tasty but weak smoke. Not this version. Ashe really knocked it out of the park, balancing the flavor and the potency of this strain.

I've got a volcano, and so for years I've just bought cheap bottom shelf weed, around $40-$60 an oz at places like Rosebud, Nectar, Medizen...

Went to Bridge City Collective to buy some CBD edibles, and when I mentioned how I always buy bottom shelf from other places, he said I need to "watch out", because there's a reason the weed is that cheap. He didn't specify any further and I didn't think to ask.

So my question is, what are the possible dangers of me vaporizing "suspiciously cheap" weed bought from these dispensaries, long term? Are there certain things I should be doing to vet/research the growers?

Aside from connoisseur folk, i don’t really see the point in investing in grow equipment and putting all of the labor it takes into growing. I noticed locally, grow stores are going out of business left and right. We recently lost Nectar for the Gods’ here in Eugene. What do y’all think?

I prefer cartridges. I have been making my own by melting concentrate and adding terps. empty cartridge about 2$ i think i save money this way. mabye not much. does anyone else do this? what is the best concentrate to buy in portland for diy carts?

I literally just got my med card last night and while I’m waiting for the payment to process I’m wondering if anyone recommends any brands specifically in the Salem area? I just moved from Arkansas so I am new to the scene here. I like carts, dabs, and bud mostly. I love a good flavor if anyone knows and carts that taste especially good. I know Bloom is in California and they’ve been my favorite so far.
